So when we last left Stacey, she was facing off against an old foe that was pretty familiar to her, since... well, she is a huge nerd when it comes to the stuff... kinda like me. Hehehehe. (donkey sound) Who is it she's gonna face? Let's see. (pulls the Disclaimers in)
Disclaimer: I don't own Power Rangers, as it is a product of Hasbro, nor do I own "Decade: Reality and Consequences", as that was created by JurgenZero2034, and I definitely don't own any references to other media like Super Sentai or any anime or musical references. I only own my OCs.
"Oh great, you." I faced down one of the toughest adversaries in all of Super Sentai or Power Rangers: Deker.
To put it lightly for all of you not in the know, Deker is a half-Nighlok who is just bloodthirsty for battle, along with his sword Uramasa, which I never understood how the hell a sword could even feel or desire something. Weird to me, but I guess he completely understood his weapon. Anywho, he is all about honor and finding a perfect opponent to fight, and fun fact about the show, he was played by Ricardo Medina Jr., who also played the Red Ranger in Wild Force about ten years before Samurai was created. Not that... any of the other Rangers and Sentais in my mind should be privy to that...
But speaking of fighting, I was barely able to block Uramasa from cleaving me in two before I flipped backwards and landed on the ground, summoning a weapon to my hands, which turned out to be the Shark Sabers, the auxiliary weapon of Jungle Fury Red. "Twin sabers for double the fighting skills!" I twirled them skillfully and struck a battle stance.
"Seems quite unfair for the opponent to have two weapons as opposed to one," Deker mentioned to me.
I looked at the blades and smiled. "You know what, you're right. Luckily, I can fix this." I combined the blades together to create a naginata, looking at him calmly. "I'm sure Uramasa would agree with a naginata."
He lowered his head in approval before swinging at me as I blocked and countered, utilizing everything I knew about bo-staff combat to keep myself alive, but it wasn't even gonna help me much as I got knocked into a tree amd groaned slightly. "Okay, glad that didn't knock my head around."
Deker slowly stalked towards me with a scoff. "For a new hero, you are a remarkably skilled fighter. But not skilled enough." He went to stab me in the gut.
But just then, it felt like a switch had been hit in my head as I blocked Uramasa and knocked it away, standing upright and holding the blade at my side, but... I wasn't in control of myself. But if I wasn't in control, who was?
Apparently, Deker seemed to recognize my stance as he growled angrily. "Red Ranger. I should have known you'd be training her."
Wait... did he mean Jayden Shiba? It seemed as fitting as anyone else I could think of who Deker would fight.
I (or rather Jayden) knocked the blade back before flipping us up to my feet, pointing the staff at Deker calmly. "She needs a chance to be ready for a sword fight, Deker. You gonna kill her before that?"
Deker got up and pointed his sword at Jayden. "Very well. I'll allow her to prepare herself for battle. But know that I am not the first that will come." He backed away quickly and disappeared through a crack in a nearby rock.
Jayden sighed softly before I managed to regain control of my body and demorphed, shaking my head slightly. "Okay, I really hope this won't be a common occurrence, especially during my shifts at work. I don't need anyone getting suspicious."
"We'll try to keep it down," Jayden promised me. "But I'm honestly surprised you're using media to keep your cover safe."
I snickered slightly. "Yeah, like some of you haven't been with media to hide your covers as well?"
"She has a point. BuzzBlast was a totally perfect hideout for us."
I recognized the feminine voice as Amelia Jones, a Rafkonian who was the current Dino Fury Pink Ranger before she was given the powers of the Cosmic Fury Red Ranger, all things considered. She was a definite leader in all honesty, which was why I suspected the Morphin' Grid gave her Red Ranger powers.
I checked around for any more enemies before I headed back to my house quickly. Hopefully things would be better soon...
(Wednesday, 8 AM)
The next morning, I had the day off, so I decided to go to work on training, grabbing the first weapon I had in my closet which turned out to be a katana, and I went to the forest again, starting to train with the blade and with some help from Jayden, I slowly started to get the hang of using a two handed weapon, keyword: Slowly. It was a lot tougher to handle a curved blade than I originally thought.
After maybe an hour or two, I stopped myself and panted slightly, sitting on a tree stump and drinking some water. "Sheesh, this is gonna make me more slim than I was as a kid. Let's just hope this doesn't bring about any trouble today..." I brushed my hair back slightly.
"So what exactly do you write about at work, Stace?" Amelia asked curiously.
I shrugged as I capped my bottle. "Mostly I report on the monsters that attack the New York area, but my focus is generally around the country. Breaking news and all that jazz."
"Gotta be tough handling that kind of responsibility."
"You have no idea, girl," I responded with a chuckle, taking another small sip of water.
"At least she's making sure everyone's aware of the dangers." I heard an older male voice speaking in my head, nearly choking on my water as I recognized it.
"Okay, did not realize I'd have Tommy Oliver as a part of my personal lineup." I commented.
Tommy chuckled slightly. "Yeah, that's a pretty long story. We'll save it for when you're in the clear of suspicion though."
I nodded in agreement. "Fair enough." I got up and checked the time. "Back to training."
As I stood up, my hair suddenly blew around me and I looked around, instincts telling me that something was up.
Almost immediately, Putty Patrollers swarmed the area and surrounded me.
I looked around at the group. "Oh great. More thugs for me to fight off."
Time out for explanation moment: Putty Patrollers are pretty much golem like goons of Rita Repulsa, the original big bad of the Power Rangers franchise. They were upgraded in Season 2 of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers by becoming Z-Putties and the only way you could get rid of them was by whacking the targets - I mean Z's - on their chests.
I morphed into my suit once again and started attacking the Putties, utilizing what I had learned so far from my group.
"Whoa!" I dodged a swing from a Putty and kicked the Z on its chest, making it crumble. "Heck yeah!"
I ducked under some swings and twirled my baton, striking some Putties on their Z's and letting them disintegrate before I summoned a Ranger Key and flicked it. "Perfect! Legendary Ranger Summon: Solar Chargers!" I flicked the key up and activated the powers, calling forth the three warriors of the Sun Vulcan team.
The four of us separated off as I served up the ball quickly. "One!"
Yellow passed the ball next. "Two!"
Blue followed up. "Three!"
"Go!" Red commanded, getting us into position before he jumped off my shoulders and delivered the Solar Kick to finish off the group of Z-Putties.
"Booyah!" I jumped up excitedly before I looked around the area and demorphed, recalling the trio as I sighed softly. "That's that for the time being."
"Hope there's no more trouble today." Amelia spoke up.
"Ditto, girl." I agreed with her.
Okay, pausing right here because otherwise this would take forever. So Stacey's opponent was Deker, and he's not gonna be the only one who comes back. Find out who else when we return to this amazing story!
