Chapter 2:

I sat next to Gandalf and Bryon on the road to our destination.

"Excuse me, but where exactly are we going?" asked Byron. I nodded and turned to Gandalf.

"We are going to the Shire." He said. I nodded. "And what exactly lives in the Shire?" aske Byron.

I turned to Gandalf and listened. "Hobbits." Was all he said.

I was about to ask what a hobbit was when suddenly out of nowhere a little man appeared. "You're late." He said.

Gandalf replied. "A wizard is never late but is always on time." He said.

Suddenly, they both burst into laughing and the little man jumped onto the wagon into Gandalf's arms into a hug. Upon seeing us in the wagon he smiled and put his hand out for a handshake.

"I'm Frodo Baggins." He said. "Nice to meet you." He finished.

I shook his had and so did Byron.

Frodo hopped into the back of the wagon and talked to Gandalf the whole way to the Shire.

He turned to us and spoke. "So where are you from?" he asked.

I looked at Gandalf who smiled and then spoke.

"This hear is a special visitor that I have brought with me." He said.

"This is Lola and Byron." He finished. Frodo smiled. "It's nice to meet you. You are going to have so much fun at the party tonight." He said.

I turned to Gandalf. "Party?" I asked.

Gandalf nodded. "Yes it's Bilbo Baggins 111th birthday." He said.

"11th?" I asked. Frodo nodded. "Do your people usually last that long?" he asked.

I smiled. "No, we don't" I said. Gandalf smiled. "But here you do." He said. I looked at Gandalf in disbelief. "We do?" I asked.

"Well, you miss Lola do. Byron, I'm sorry but you are just a normal human." He said.

I looked at Byron. "Why do I get to live long and you don't?" I asked. Gandalf spoke.

"You my dear are part Elf. You were adopted right?" he asked. I nodded. "Yes, but what does that have to do with anything?" I asked.

Gandalf laughed. "It means that you will live a long and happy life. When you are 80, you will still look like a young beautiful girl, and if you take care of yourself properly you will live long many years." He said.

I nodded. "So, who are my parents?" I asked.

Gandalf sighed. "Alas, my dear they are no longer with us. They died about 15 years ago." He said.

"So they gave me up to protect me?" I asked. Gandalf nodded.

"yes they did. They traveled through time using magic that no longer exists and set you free, only for you to return and fulfill your destiny." He said.

I nodded. "Wait, my destiny? What does that mean?" I asked.

Gandalf nodded. "You will know when the time comes." He said.

I nodded and looked straight ahead at the road. "What about Byron?" I asked.

Gandalf smiled. "Your magic carried him with you because the fates knew you needed some help." He said.

I sighed. "How do you know all of this?" I asked. Gandalf laughed. "Because I'm a wizard." He said.

I nodded and turned back to the road.

I didn't understand much of what Gandalf said but I knew things were going to be different and I knew that I had to prepare myself.

I just didn't know for what.
