Chapter 3:
We came to a small house in the ground. Gandalf turned to us and spoke.
"Time to meet Bilbo Baggins." He said. Byron and me jumped out of the wagon and followed Frodo.
Gandalf knocked on the door. "Who is it?" yelled a voice.
"An old friend." Replied Gandalf.
The door opened and a little man opened the door. "Good to see you Gandalf." Said Bilbo.
He turned and looked at Byron and me and smiled. "I'm guessing you are friends of Gandalf and have come to wish me a happy birthday." He said.
Gandalf nodded. "Yes, this is Lola and Byron." He said. Bilbo walked up to us and shook our hands.
Byron spoke. "Not to be rude, but what are you?" he asked. "BYRON!" I yelled. Bilbo smiled.
"It's perfectly alright. I'm a hobbit." He said. "A Hobbit?" asked Byron. "Yes my boy, a hobbit. Here in middle earth you will find lots of different people and creatures, you just have to know where to look." Said Bilbo.
Bilbo invited Gandalf in for tea and Frodo decided to show us around the shire.
"So, where are you really from?" asked Frodo as we walked through the trees towards the stream.
I looked at Byron who nodded.
"I'm from a different world. My parents died trying to save my life and brought me to a different world to live. At least that's what Gandalf told me." I said.
Frodo sighed. "Wow, that's a lot to handle for such a woman as yourself." He said.
I nodded. "apparently, my magic brought Byron along. Gandalf says there is no way back, but he did say that I would live a very long time." I finished.
Frodo smiled. "So your half elf?" he asked.
I nodded. "How did you know that?" I asked.
Frodo smiled. "Gandalf tells me a lot of things when he comes to visit." He said.
"Sometimes I listen and other times I doze off." He said with a chuckle. "But I remember that story." He said.
"your parents are famous." He said. "You know who my parents are?" I asked.
Frodo nodded. "It's an old tale. People thought it to be a myth, but now that you're here it's truth." He said.
"Will you tell me the tale?" I asked. Frodo nodded. He walked under an apple tree and sat down.
He then proceeded to pat the ground next to him for Byron and I to sit. We all sat and I waited for Frodo to begin.
"The tale is as follows.
Titus and Roma were fantastic elf warriors. However Roma, your mother, was human.
Titus still loved her no matter what. For years he searched ways to help Roma to live forever.
day Titus found a book about some magic that no longer existed.
He knew he needed to try anything that he could. So, he got the ingredients and made a potion for Roma to drink.
She drank it and nothing happened.
Soon, Titus and Roma found out that they were pregnant with you.
They knew that the Dark Lord was gaining way in this world and knew that they had to protect you.
Titus lived in Rivendell, which is an elvish city in the woods, very hidden, very secret.
They knew that the Dark Lord was coming to conquer all.
So, they looked in the book again and gave you a potion to travel from realm to realm, so that when the danger was gone you could come back.
They left you on the doorstep of an orphanage, and that's when your adopted parents adopted you.
Titus and Roma traveled back to Middle Earth and fought against the dark Lord losing their lives along the way.
It is said that the child or Titus and Roma would come back and save the world from the dark Lord once again, as there are rumors of his coming again."
Frodo finished.
Byron and I just looked at Frodo as if he had two heads.
I turned to Byron. "How can this be?" I asked. Byron shrugged.
"you got me! I'm just here for the ride." He said.
I sighed and looked at Frodo. "So what do we do now?" I asked.
Frodo smiled. "You are always welcome to stay in the shire." He said.
I smiled. "Thank you Frodo." I said. Frodo took looked about and spoke.
"It's getting dark. We should head to the party." He said. I nodded and we got up and walked to the valley where the party was to be held.
At this time there were fireworks going off and everyone was drinking ale and laughing.
It looked really fun. Byron and I sat down and watched all that was going on around us.
At one point, Gandalf looked at us and smiled. Soon, Bilbo Baggins stood on the stage and spoke.
He thanked everyone for his party and that he was going soon.
Suddenly, He disappeared into thin air as if he was never there. I looked at Byron who looked at me in shock.
"Now I know this place is buggin." He said. I sighed and looked at Gandalf, but I could not find him.
I wondered what was going on. Frodo gasped. "I must go to the house and see if I can find him." He said.
I nodded. "We'll go with you." I said. Byron nodded in agreement.
We headed to the house to see the door open and a ring on the floor.
Frodo picked it up and just looked at it. It was as if the wind was speaking in whispers.
Byron and I could feel the chill in the air.
Suddenly, Gandalf appeared in the hall. "Frodo, do you have the ring?" he asked.
Frodo nodded. "Yes I do." He said. Gandalf took the ring and placed it in an envelop and sealed it by the fire.
" You must take it and hide it." He said.
Frodo nodded. "Where do I hide it?" he asked.
Gandalf sighed. "I'm afraid the only way to hide it is to destroy it so the dark lord cannot win this battle. A dark time is coming." He said.
At this point Byron and I were just observing. Frodo spoke.
"I will take it." He said. Gandalf sighed. "I was afraid you would say that." He said.
Suddenly, there was a rustle in the bushes by the window.
Gandalf went to the window and quickly pulled out a hobbit.
He placed him on the table and yelled at him. "What did you hear!" he yelled.
The hobbit sighed. "I didn't hear much, just about a dark lord and the end of the world." He said.
Gandalf sighed. "You will go with Frodo to Rivendell to have the ring destroyed." Said Gandalf.
"What's your name?" I asked. The hobbit turned to me and spoke. "I'm Samwise Gamgee." He said.
"At your service miss." He said.
I looked at Byron and then looked at Gandalf. "I will go with Frodo and Samwise to Rivendell, maybe they can give me some more answers about who I am." I said.
Gandalf nodded. "And so you know your purpose." He said.
I nodded. Gandalf had told me that I would find my purpose and that I just needed to wait." I Sighed.
"I'm going too." Said Byron. "I'm not leaving my best friend on a journey that could kill her." He said.
Gandalf nodded. "Very well, get ready to go and we will leave at dawn." He said. Frodo and Samwise packed up what they needed.
They packed some food and clothes and Frodo put the ring on a chain around his neck. Byron and I sat and waited.
Samwise came over to us and spoke. "Mr. Frodo told me your story." He said.
"It's an honor to meet such a heroic lady." He said. I smiled.
"I'm not a hero, just a girl trying to find some answers." I said.
Samwise smiled. "You can call me Sam, everyone else does." He said.
I nodded and looked out the window.
It was Dawn. Time to leave.
