I do not own The Mr. Men Show or any of its characters, but I do own Elizabeth and the idea for this story.

Mr. Nosy stared into the closet, widening his eyes when he saw their bedroom. He had so many questions, maybe too many that he could possibly spend the rest of his life asking and still have some unanswered questions.

"Wow," he breathed out, and he looked down at his best friend as Mr. Small hopped out of his hands, landing beside him. "How did you do that?" he gasped.

Mr. Small shrugged. "I just touched the doorknob," he replied. He paused, then said," Well, I was thinking about our home when I touched it. Do you think that's what made it work?" He glanced at his friend, but Mr. Nosy didn't know the answer.

The human looked into the closet. "This is where you live?" she asked, stepping forward, but suddenly Mr. Small grabbed her hand and pulled her away. She looked at him in surprise as they stopped beside her bed. Mr. Nosy watched them curiously.

"I'm sorry, but we don't know how this thing works yet," Mr. Small said, gazing up at her. "I don't want you getting hurt."

The girl stared into the small man's eyes, and Mr. Nosy put his head to one side, watching as something seemed to develop between them even though they just met. Mr. Small pulled his hand away and joined his friend again.

Suddenly what he said worried Mr. Nosy. He frowned and asked," Do you think this thing could hurt us?"

"I don't know. But dangerous or not, we can't risk the safety of a kid."

Mr. Nosy glanced over at the girl, realizing his friend was right. They moved closer to the closet, and suddenly the human called out," Wait!" The friends turned to her in surprise. "Will I ever see you again?" she asked, taking a few steps toward them. Her eyes were huge and full of curiosity which Mr. Nosy could understand because he too was curious and wanted to learn more about this world.

Mr. Small went back to her and took hold of her hand, causing her to crouch down until they were at eye level with each other. "I promise you that we will meet again." He hesitated, then pulled away, tipping his hat to her. "Until then, take care of yourself." He turned and disappeared through the portal.

Mr. Nosy stayed behind for a moment longer, looking over at the girl and hoping they'll come back sometime soon. "Bye," he finally said before hurrying after his friend and closing the door behind him.

Now back in their own bedroom, Mr. Nosy felt lightheaded with wonder, wanting to know so much. He knew it must be late, but he was wide awake. He turned and opened the door, but all he saw was their own closet.

"It probably won't work again for a while," Mr. Small warned him.

Mr. Nosy sighed and closed the door.

"Come on," Mr. Small urged him gently, nudging him toward their beds. "Let's try to get some sleep. Maybe we can learn more about what happened once we've rested."

Mr. Nosy looked over his shoulder at the closet, then climbed into his bed. He didn't think he'd be able to get any sleep, with his mind racing, but as soon as he flipped into a comfortable position, he was out, dreaming about the mysterious girl and her room in their closet.

The next morning, Mr. Nosy got out of bed and hurried to the closet. The portal wasn't there, and disappointment washed over him. He sighed and left the bedroom. He found Mr. Small making breakfast and he watched without speaking, wondering if he just imagined meeting that girl last night or if she really existed inside their closet.

They ate breakfast in silence and they went about their day, going into town and seeing their friends. The whole time, Mr. Nosy wanted to go back to their house and see if the portal was open, but Mr. Small seemed to be avoiding returning home.

The sun was going down when Mr. Small finally started heading back to the observatory, and Mr. Nosy immediately ran to their bedroom. But the portal wasn't there. He sighed and went over to his bed without a word.

A couple of days went by, and Mr. Nosy was starting to think that night never happened. Whenever they were home, he would check the closet regularly, but the other world and that girl wasn't there. Finally, a few days after it first appeared, a light flashed, drawing Mr. Nosy's attention.

He ran over to the closet and opened the door. Excitement ran through him and he called to his best friend.

Mr. Small poked his head in and saw Mr. Nosy by the open portal. "Is she there?" he asked, slowly walking over to him.

Mr. Nosy looked through and shook his head. "I don't see her."

Mr. Small looked disappointed, but they went through anyway. Mr. Nosy saw something on the bed and went over there. He realized it was a birthday card.

"Huh, it appears she just had a birthday," Mr. Small murmured when Mr. Nosy showed him the card.

"Should we get her something?" Mr. Nosy asked.

"Good idea, Nose! Come on, let's go back home and look for the perfect gift!"

It has been almost a week now since they met the girl, and the portal hasn't opened up again since the other day. Mr. Nosy hardly left their bedroom, willing the portal to open. He kept glancing at the notebook on the nightstand. After they found out the girl's birthday just past, they bought her a journal to write her stories in, and Mr. Nosy was very excited to give it to her.

Mr. Small walked in the room. "It hasn't opened again?"

Mr. Nosy sighed and shook his head.

Looking thoughtful, Mr. Small walked over to the closet. Mr. Nosy grabbed the notebook and followed him, curious. "Hmm," Mr. Small murmured.

Mr. Nosy looked at him. "What are you thinking?"

"Didn't I open up the portal home the night we met the girl?" Mr. Small asked.

Mr. Nosy gasped, suddenly remembering. "Yes, you did!" He felt excited. "Can you do it again?"

"I can try." Mr. Small took a deep breath and reached out, closing his eyes. He seemed to focus and Mr. Nosy widened his eyes when he saw a light shining through the cracks. Then Mr. Small opened the door and Mr. Nosy bounced up and down, shaking the floor underneath him.

"You did it! You did it!"

Mr. Small steadied himself and looked in the closet. "It appears like it, but this isn't her bedroom."

Mr. Nosy looked again and realized his friend was right. Instead of seeing the girl's bed and desk, there was a long hallway. "Should we go through?" Mr. Nosy asked nervously.

"I… I think so…" Mr. Small looked at him. "I can… feel her… She's nearby…"

Mr. Nosy tilted his head to the side; then realized he was right. He definitely felt the presence of the girl. Eager to meet her again, he passed through and looked around.

Mr. Small joined him. "This looks like a school," he said.

"Makes sense. She seemed young," Mr. Nosy pointed out.

"Come on. Let's ask around if they've seen… Wait a minute." They had took a few steps forward, but then Mr. Small stopped, and Mr. Nosy turned to him, confused. "She never told us her name," the small man said, and Mr. Nosy realized he was right.

"All the more reason we need to find her, to find out her name." Mr. Nosy continued down the hallway.

The friends glanced in a few rooms, but didn't see the girl. They stopped to ask a few people, but the humans kept on walking without even looking at them.

"It's as if they can't see us," Mr. Nosy murmured, frowning. At least in Dillydale nobody pretended they didn't even exist. Usually Mr. Grumpy or Mr. Rude would snap at them, but even that was better than flat out ignoring them.

"That's it, Nose!"

Mr. Nosy looked down at his friend. "What is?"

"They can't see us! Remember the night we met that girl, both her mother and brother looked in her room and couldn't see us. These humans can't see us either. Only that girl can."

Mr. Nosy was even more confused. "I don't understand," he muttered.

"I don't either," Mr. Small said. "Let's just find that girl."

They looked in a few more rooms, and finally, Mr. Nosy looked through the window on a door and found her sitting in the back of the class. "Found her," he said, and Mr. Small asked for a boost.

The small man gestured for her to come out and they waited for several moments before the girl finally opened the door. As soon as she saw them, she pulled them into a hug.

"I can't believe you actually came back!" she blurted out.

"Of course; I told you we would," Mr. Small reminded her, and he wrapped his arms around her before stepping back. "There's nothing that will keep me from returning to you," the small man added and for a long moment they stared into each other's eyes.

Finally the girl looked away and Mr. Nosy spoke up. "You never told us your name," he pointed out.

"I didn't? It's Elizabeth."

Elizabeth, he thought to himself.

Mr. Small smiled and stretched out his arm to her. "Well, Elizabeth, it's nice to officially meet you."

Elizabeth took his hand and shook it, still staring deep into his eyes. Mr. Nosy didn't understand why, but he was starting to feel uncomfortable. Then she let go of his hand and asked," How did you find me here?"

The friends shared a look. "We copied our actions from the other night," Mr. Small replied, turning back to her. "But instead of thinking about our home, I thought of you, and it brought us here."

So that's how he did it, Mr. Nosy thought, but he didn't say anything as his friend continued.

"We looked in classroom after classroom until at last we found you," Mr. Small finished, gesturing to her.

"And nobody saw you?" Elizabeth asked.

Mr. Nosy shook his head. "I guess you're the only one who can," he said, still wondering about all this.

"Or at least it seems that way," Mr. Small quickly added. "We tried asking around for you, but it seemed like nobody could see or hear us."

A faraway look entered her eyes, and Mr. Nosy and Mr. Small exchanged a look, before turning back to her.

"We know your birthday just passed," Mr. Small announced, and he glanced at his friend who reached behind his back and handed the notebook to the small man.

"How did you know that?" Elizabeth asked.

"That's not important," Mr. Small said, and Mr. Nosy understood his response. She wasn't happy about them going through her stuff last time. She might get upset again if she found out that they saw her birthday card on her bed. Mr. Small handed her the notebook. "We thought you could keep a better track of your stories if you wrote them in a journal," he told her.

Elizabeth looked down at the notebook, before thanking them. Mr. Nosy was about to ask her some questions about herself when a bell went off, and he jumped in surprise; then he realized the class was over.

"I have to go get my stuff," Elizabeth told them, and then she looked around as the hallway was filled with kids. Mr. Nosy realized she was pretending she didn't see them.

"We'll find you later!" Mr. Small called to her, and their eyes locked again. "I will always find you."

Then they lost sight of the girl in the sea of kids. Mr. Small sighed, but it was a content kind of sigh. "Come on, Nose, let's go home."

Mr. Nosy tried to find Elizabeth again, but she must have gone back into her class. He reluctantly turned and followed his best friend, excited about the next time they met the girl.
