Three days after Mr. Scatterbrain had been able to give Mr. Nosy the letter for Elizabeth's family, she was still waiting to hear from him, hoping he would be able to get it to them soon and come to tell her if he succeeded or not.

"I hope Mr. Small didn't stop him," she murmured as she sat on her bed in the room that Mr. Scatterbrain offered her the first night of her staying with him.

The sound of the front door opening jerked Elizabeth out of her thoughts, and she looked up to see Mr. Scatterbrain entering her room. "Elizabeth," he started, gesturing behind him, "someone is here to see you."

The moment she saw the light green Mr. Man following his friend, Elizabeth hopped off the bed and ran to him. "Were you able to get the letter to my family?" she asked as soon as she was standing in front of him.

When he nodded, she bounced in place in excitement. Then he handed her a piece of paper and explained, "Your husband left this for you."

Instantly the girl took it and ran to the bed where she sat and started to read it in her head. Her husband was quick to point out that he wasn't sure if this was actually her, and he didn't know if writing this would get to her, but there were a few things he had to say. She swallowed back a whimper when he said that he couldn't handle everything that has been going on lately, and her disappearing made him panic, and wherever she was, she could stay because he didn't want to ever see her again.

She couldn't finish the letter because she was crying too hard. She didn't even look up when she heard footsteps walking toward her. "I'm so sorry, Elizabeth," Mr. Nosy said quietly. Clearly, he read the letter.

She just kept crying, literally feeling her heart break in two. Her husband hated her; he didn't want to see her again. And it's all Mr. Small's fault!

Mr. Nosy wrapped his arm around her and pulled her into a hug. She continued to cry into his chest, feeling her whole body tremble with rage and sadness.

After a while, she pulled herself together, painfully aware of being watched. She straightened up, using her sleeve to clean her face and looked across the room to see Mr. Scatterbrain watching them from the doorway, looking worried.

He walked over. "I just remembered something," he suddenly said. "Nobody told me what's going on." He blinked, confused.

Elizabeth took a shaky breath and looked at Mr. Nosy, who stiffened in surprise. Clearly he had picked Mr. Scatterbrain because he didn't think his friend would ask any questions. He probably hoped he would forget Mr. Nosy even asked for his help and Elizabeth guessed he thought Mr. Scatterbrain would think she was his friend, not Mr. Nosy's.

If Mr. Scatterbrain found out about Mr. Small, he might think Mr. Nosy was bad, too, which apparently he's not all bad. But if they confessed to all their crimes, Mr. Scatterbrain needed to know that the light green Mr. Man was on their side.

After a while Mr. Nosy finally sighed, but right when he opened his mouth, Mr. Scatterbrain spoke before he could. "I don't want to push anything. If you're not ready to tell me, I completely understand. I'll just try to help in any way I can."

"No, it's not fair for you to help without knowing why you're helping," the light green Mr. Man pointed out, and Elizabeth knew that made sense. She was still heartbroken about her husband, but she would try to help Mr. Nosy explained as best as she could.

The scatterbrained Mr. Man listened in silence as they talked about how the best friends found a portal in their closet years ago that somehow took them to Elizabeth's room, and how they used to visit her as often as possible. Once they got to the part of the human and Mr. Small starting a relationship, Mr. Scatterbrain's eyes widened, and surprise lit up in their depths when they mentioned that in Elizabeth's world everything around them and all the people of Dillydale was a cartoon show. Still he said nothing though.

It wasn't until they started talking about the turning point in the friends' life that Mr. Scatterbrain made a sound, gasping in shock when he heard about them forcing Elizabeth to do stuff she didn't want to.

"I now realize how wrong that was," the light green Mr. Man quickly told him as his friend stared at him in shock. "I just wish I realized that before we did it," he added, glancing at Elizabeth.

The human wasn't sure how to reply, and she was thankful when Mr. Nosy went on. "I started questioning if what we were doing was really right," he explained sadly. "But for the most part I kept all those feelings to myself because the way Mr. Small is now, I know he'll never change. He enjoys hurting others and watching people do what he says. I shoulda stood up to him, but I was afraid of him and still am...I bet if I could have stopped it, she would still be alive…" His voice trailed away and he started sobbing into his hands.

"She?" Elizabeth and Mr. Scatterbrain echoed at the same time. It was like Mr. Nosy had forgotten that they were even there when he didn't mention a name. He was probably so relieved to finally be confessing all this after so long.

The light green Mr. Man looked up, tears rolling out of his eyes, and for several minutes he tried to calm himself until at last he was able to murmur out the name. "Miss. Calamity."

As soon as she heard that, Elizabeth gasped. "N-No," she whispered, turning to Mr. Scatterbrain, expecting to see sadness or anger in his gaze, really anything but the confusion that was shining there.

"Who?" the magenta man asked, putting his head to one side.

All Elizabeth could do was stare at him. She always thought of the two as a couple, but even if that wasn't true, he had a few scenes with her so shouldn't he at least remember who she was?

Mr. Nosy jumped right into explaining, having to stop every now and again to collect himself. The two listened in shock as he told them that one morning they went to Little Miss Calamity's house after they found out about Elizabeth's boyfriend, and how they did the same thing they did to Elizabeth a few years before, but this time it went too far. When he said how he accidentally strangled her, Mr. Scatterbrain moved away from him with an uneasy expression.

Even if Mr. Nosy noticed this, he didn't comment on it and only continued his story. "We were trying to figure out what to do when you arrived." He turned to Mr. Scatterbrain. "You threatened to expose us and you almost did, but Mr. Small got the idea to go to Miss. Magic and tell her to erase everyone's memory of Miss. Calamity, so that's why you don't remember now. But I'm so sorry you don't," he quickly added. "She was a wonderful Little Miss, and she loved you so much."

It was a few moments until the scatterbrained Mr. Man replied. "Did I love her back?"

"More than anything."

Mr. Scatterbrain turned his head away from the others and let out a soft sigh.

Elizabeth could feel her heart break for the magenta man. She was just told in a letter that her husband didn't love her anymore, but to find out you loved someone and they loved you back and your memory of that person vanished when they died; she couldn't even begin to imagine what Mr. Scatterbrain must be feeling right now. Then a question popped in her head and she turned to Mr. Nosy. "If everyone forgot her, how come you remember her?" she asked him.

"Miss. Magic said we needed to be punished," he answered. "We have to live with the knowledge that we killed one of our friends. I'm not sure if it even bothers Mr. Small, but-"

"But it kills you inside knowing what you did," Elizabeth finished his sentence, thinking back to when they talked in the basement and how he broke down crying after saying they went too far. No doubt he meant this, she confirmed in her head.

The room was engulfed in silence for a long time until Mr. Nosy started speaking again, talking about what they tried to do almost a month ago on Elizabeth's birthday. But the human didn't think Mr. Scatterbrain was even listening anymore. He still had his head bowed and his eyes closed.

"I wish I had the courage to go against him sooner," Mr. Nosy finished up after he explained how they kidnapped the human when the other plan failed, and how he helped her escape his friend and sent her here to be safe with Mr. Scatterbrain. "Mr. Small knows where you are thanks to everyone talking about it in town," the light green Mr. Man told her as he turned to her, and Elizabeth froze in fear, feeling her heart start to beat fast. "But he wouldn't dare come here since he doesn't know that I'm telling Mr. Scatterbrain all this, and he wouldn't be able to drag you back without drawing attention."

Suddenly Mr. Scatterbrain jumped to his feet, eyes blazing with a mix of anger and sadness. "Let him come here!" he demanded, his fingers folding into fists.

Elizabeth stared at him in shock, not even recognizing him anymore. He looked ready to cry but also ready to fight the small Mr. Man.

Mr. Nosy got up as well and tried to calm his friend. "Calm down, Mr. Scatterbrain," he said slowly as he held his hands up. "I know you're upset, but you don't want him to come here. If he finds out that you know everything, he won't hide anymore and he won't hold back."

"I'm not scared of him," he insisted.

"Okay, fine, say if he did come here," Mr. Nosy started. "What do you plan to do? How do you think you can handle him?" The magenta Mr. Man opened his mouth as if to answer, but Mr. Nosy went on. "And what about Elizabeth?" he questioned as he pointed to her. "He wants her back and he is willing to do whatever that takes even if it means repeating his past crimes."

Mr. Scatterbrain looked away from him, not even turning back when the light green Mr. Man put his hand on his shoulder. "I know you want to avenge Miss. Calamity, but it won't help anyone if you die as well. Without you here, Elizabeth will go straight back to that cage. Do you want that?"

After a glance at the human on the bed, Mr. Scatterbrain shook his head and looked down, muttering, "No."

"Right now she needs you," Mr. Nosy went on telling him. "If you can, please try to avoid Mr. Small, but if you find yourself around him, act natural and like you think he's the same as he's always been."

Mr. Scatterbrain nodded but said nothing.

"Good." Mr. Nosy put his hand in his pocket and took out something. He handed it to Elizabeth. She stared at it. It was her phone. "I know you can't call or text anyone, but you can still listen to music, right?"

She nodded.

"Okay, now I must get back." He walked to the door, waving at them and calling over his shoulder," I'll see you again as soon as I can."

When he was gone, Elizabeth turned to Mr. Scatterbrain to see him still standing there with his head down. "A-Are you okay?" she stammered, slowly getting to her feet but making sure to give him some space.

For a few moments he didn't reply. Finally he sighed and murmured, "I always felt like something was missing and now I know what it was."

He must be talking about Miss. Calamity, she realized, and sympathy for him washed over her. "I'm so sorry," she whispered. Then she added, "What I saw on the show, she was really sweet and I would have loved to meet her."

"I wish I could remember her," he responded with a deep sigh.

Elizabeth was silent for a long moment, trying to think of how to cheer him up. It finally came to her and she picked up her phone, frowning when she saw no internet connection, which made sense because she has no signal. But she remembered she had a picture on her phone.

The magenta Mr. Man turned to leave, but she called him back. "I want to show you something," she told him, pulling up a picture of the Little Miss on her phone.

Elizabeth handed the phone to Mr. Scatterbrain, who took it with confusion in his eyes. He was silent as he stared down at the picture until at last he asked, "Is this her?"

The human nodded and watched as a big grin formed on his face.

"She's beautiful," he whispered, reaching his hand out as if he thought he could touch her.

"You're welcome to look at her anytime you want," Elizabeth offered, glad that she was able to show him his deceased girlfriend. I just wish there was a way of bringing her back…

After a long time of staring at the phone, Mr. Scatterbrain finally handed it back to the human, his eyes now sparkling with happiness. "Thank you," he murmured. "I needed that."

"You're welcome."

"Now come on," he suddenly said, and she followed him out of the room and across the living room. "How about some lunch?" he asked as they entered the kitchen. A few of his pets were in here.

At the mention of food, Elizabeth heard her stomach growl. "Sure," she giggled, watching the Mr. Man go to the refrigerator. "Here, let me help," she offered; she walked over to him and helped him gather the ingredients to make some sandwiches.

As they worked together, Elizabeth actually felt happy, for the first time in many days. She was in Dillydale, and even though she still missed her family, she found that she was missing her husband a little less, since he was so quick to end things. And she was glad she had her phone back. She can listen to music and when the magenta Mr. Man was missing his girlfriend whom he just found out about, she could show him a picture of her, even if it can't bring her back.

Maybe time in Dillydale won't be so bad after all, she told herself, knowing that with Mr. Nosy and Mr. Scatterbrain watching her, she'll be safe from her ex-boyfriend. Maybe someday she might return to her world; she was sure her family and best friend was missing her, but for now she decided she was going to enjoy her time here as much as she could.
