Hey guys back with chapter 3, enjoy!
The morning sun bathed the training grounds in a warm glow as Team 7 gathered for their second day as an official team. The air was crisp, and there was a sense of excitement buzzing between them. After passing Naruto's bell test, they knew their journey as a team had only just begun.
Naruto stood with his arms folded, a soft grin tugging at the corners of his mouth as he watched his three students. Yesterday's test had shown him their potential, but today wasn't about intense training. Today was about something just as important, but a little more relaxed.
"Alright, Team 7," Naruto began, pushing off the tree he'd been leaning against. His usual playful tone was there, but there was something more serious underneath it now. "Yesterday, you showed me that you can work together when it really counts. But that was just the start. Being a team isn't just about fighting side by side—it's about trusting each other completely. So today, we're gonna work on something a little different."
Ashi, still full of energy, practically bounced in place. "What do you have for us today, Naruto-sensei? More secret tests? Cool new jutsu?"
Naruto chuckled, shaking his head. "Not quite, Ashi. Today's more about getting to know each other. You're a team now, and that means you need to understand not just how each of you fights, but what makes you tick. Out there on missions, when things get tough, knowing each other's strengths and weaknesses will make all the difference."
Kazaya sighed, folding his arms across his chest. "So we're just talking today? That sounds… less exciting."
Hikari, standing between Ashi and Kazaya, smiled softly. She could see the value in what Naruto was saying. Trust wasn't built overnight, and if they were going to succeed as a team, they needed to know more than just how to fight. "It sounds important. We've already seen how different we are when it comes to strategy."
Naruto nodded. "Exactly, Hikari. If you don't know why your teammates are here, what motivates them, or how they handle pressure, you won't be able to trust them when things get rough. So, let's start with something simple. I want each of you to tell the team why you became a shinobi."
Ashi immediately raised her hand, not waiting for permission to speak. "Ooo! Me first!" she exclaimed, practically vibrating with excitement.
Naruto laughed, waving her forward. "Go for it, Ashi."
Ashi straightened up proudly. "I became a shinobi because I wanna be just like Naruto-sensei! The strongest ninja in the village! Plus, in the Inuzuka clan, strength is everything, and I want to surpass my cousin Kiba and become the best Inuzuka ever! Yuna and I are going to be the strongest team—stronger than any other shinobi and partner!" Yuna, her black-and-white husky pup, barked excitedly in agreement.
Hikari smiled at Ashi's enthusiasm, though she couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious about sharing her own reasons for becoming a ninja. Ashi was so bold, so sure of herself, and Hikari often struggled with those feelings.
Kazaya rolled his eyes slightly at Ashi's eagerness. "Big dreams," he muttered, though there wasn't any real malice in his tone. It was more like he was just used to Ashi's exuberance.
Naruto looked at Kazaya next, his gaze gentle but firm. "Alright, Kazaya. How about you?"
Kazaya sighed deeply, clearly not thrilled with the idea of opening up. "Honestly? I became a shinobi because it's what I'm good at. My family's been in the shinobi business for generations, and it seemed like the easiest path. I don't have any grand ambitions or dreams. I just want to get through missions and live a quiet life." He shrugged, his tone casual, though there was an underlying honesty in his words.
Ashi stared at him in disbelief. "That's it? No dream of becoming the Hokage or the strongest shinobi in the village? You're so boring, Kazaya!"
Kazaya gave her a flat look. "Not everyone wants to be the loudest person in the room, Ashi."
Naruto chuckled softly. "Everyone's got their own reasons for becoming a shinobi. There's no wrong answer." His eyes shifted to Hikari, sensing her hesitance. "Hikari, what about you?"
Hikari swallowed, feeling a bit of pressure with everyone's eyes on her. But she took a deep breath and spoke up. "I… became a shinobi because I want to protect the people I care about. I'm not as strong or bold as others, but I've always been a quick thinker. I want to use strategy and planning to help the team, to make sure we make the right decisions in tough situations. If I can help keep everyone safe, then I'll feel like I've done my job."
Ashi's expression softened. "Hikari, that's awesome! You're like the brains of the operation!"
Kazaya gave a nod of approval. "Smart and cautious. That'll come in handy."
Naruto smiled, feeling proud of how they were starting to connect, even in their differences. "See? Each of you brings something unique to the team. Ashi's got the strength and energy to lead from the front, Kazaya's calm under pressure, and Hikari's sharp mind will keep you from making reckless decisions. Together, you balance each other out."
Ashi beamed, clearly enjoying the team-building exercise, while Kazaya looked somewhat less bothered than before. Hikari felt a little lighter, relieved that her teammates seemed to respect her role.
Naruto clapped his hands together. "Now that we've gotten to know each other a little better, I thought we'd take a break from training for the rest of the day."
Ashi blinked in surprise. "A break? But I want to keep training!"
Naruto laughed. "We'll train plenty, don't worry. But today, I want to introduce you guys to some of my friends. Part of being a shinobi is knowing the people around you, and I think it'll be good for you to meet some of the other shinobi who helped shape me."
Hikari's curiosity piqued. Naruto-sensei's friends? The ones who fought in the Fourth Great Shinobi War? She'd read about many of them in the archives, but meeting them in person was a whole different experience.
Kazaya raised an eyebrow. "Friends, huh? Guess it can't hurt."
Ashi was practically vibrating with excitement. "You mean we get to meet more legends like you, Naruto-sensei? Let's go! I want to meet everyone!"
Naruto led Team 7 through the bustling streets of Konoha, his hands tucked behind his head as he casually guided them toward one of the larger training fields. As they walked, the sounds of the village surrounded them—vendors selling their goods, children playing, and shinobi heading out on their missions.
As they approached the training field, Naruto spotted a familiar group of people gathered near a large tree. He grinned and waved them over. "Come on, you're about to meet some of the best people I know."
As they got closer, Hikari recognized a few of the faces from the village stories. Shino Aburame, the quiet and composed Jounin with his insect techniques, stood with his arms crossed, his face mostly hidden by his high collar. Next to him was Kiba Inuzuka, the loud and brash shinobi who was now a Jounin himself, with his massive white dog, Akamaru, sitting calmly beside him. Akamaru barked once in greeting as Kiba waved over at them.
Standing nearby was Hinata Hyuga, the kind-hearted shinobi known for her Byakugan and gentle nature. She smiled warmly when she saw Naruto approaching with his students. Her long, dark hair shimmered in the sunlight, and her soft lavender eyes met Naruto's with a quiet affection. Hikari had heard about her before—Naruto's girlfriend and one of the kindest shinobi in the village.
"Naruto-kun!" Hinata greeted, her voice soft but warm. She stepped forward, giving Naruto a gentle hug before turning her gaze to Team 7. "These must be your students."
Naruto scratched the back of his head, a grin plastered on his face. "Yep, this is Team 7." He pointed to each of them. "That's Ashi, Kazaya, and Hikari."
Hinata smiled at them. "It's nice to meet all of you. I've heard good things from Naruto-kun about your progress."
Ashi's eyes widened as she recognized Kiba. She sprinted over to him, her voice rising in excitement. "Kiba! Akamaru! I knew we'd run into you guys sooner or later!"
Kiba grinned, ruffling Ashi's hair like she was still a little kid. "Good to see you, squirt. Looks like you've finally made it to the big leagues, huh? How's Yuna doing?" He crouched down to give Yuna a pat on the head, and the husky barked happily in response.
Akamaru nuzzled against Yuna, the two dogs greeting each other like old friends.
Ashi stood proudly. "Yuna and I are going to be the best team in Konoha, just like you and Akamaru!"
Kiba chuckled as he stood up, giving Ashi a playful smirk. "You've got a long way to go before you're better than me and Akamaru, kid. But with Naruto as your sensei, you've got a pretty good shot."
Ashi grinned, her confidence only growing. "Just watch! We'll be the best Inuzuka team the village has ever seen!"
Akamaru let out a low, approving bark, and Yuna wagged her tail furiously as if she, too, agreed with Ashi's proclamation.
Naruto, standing beside Hinata, gave her a gentle nudge. "These guys are something else, aren't they?" He looked at his students, who were already mingling with his friends, their nerves fading with every passing moment. Even Kazaya seemed more relaxed, though he was hanging back, quietly observing the group.
Hinata nodded, her soft gaze never leaving Naruto's face. "They remind me of your old team, Naruto-kun. You've got a lot of heart in them." Her voice was filled with admiration, not just for Team 7, but for Naruto, too.
Naruto grinned, scratching the back of his head. "Yeah, they're pretty awesome. They've already proven that they've got the potential to be something great." He leaned closer, lowering his voice so only Hinata could hear. "Though, you know, teaching isn't as easy as I thought it would be. I think I've got more respect for Kakashi-sensei now."
Hinata giggled softly, covering her mouth with her hand. "I'm sure you're doing a great job, Naruto-kun. Just be yourself, and they'll learn a lot from you."
Naruto's grin softened, and for a moment, the bustling village and the excited chatter of his students seemed to fade into the background as he shared that quiet, meaningful moment with Hinata. She had always been the calm to his storm, the gentle reassurance that kept him grounded. He was lucky to have her by his side.
Meanwhile, Hikari stood back a bit, watching the interactions between Ashi, Kiba, and Akamaru with quiet amusement. She wasn't used to being around so many people, especially shinobi as well-known as these, but she couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. These were the people who had helped save the village during the Fourth Great Shinobi War. Meeting them was like stepping into the stories she had only read about in books.
Shino approached her quietly, his presence so subtle that Hikari didn't even realize he was next to her until he spoke. "You're quieter than your teammates," he observed, his tone calm but not unkind. "A strategist, perhaps?"
Hikari blinked, turning to face him. "Y-Yes, actually," she stammered slightly, taken aback by his sudden attention. "I want to be someone who can help my team make the right decisions."
Shino nodded thoughtfully. "That's a valuable skill. Strength is important, but a shinobi who can think critically and anticipate the enemy's movements is just as essential. It's good that you recognize that."
Hikari felt a surge of pride at his words, though she still wasn't quite sure how to respond. "Thank you," she said softly, glancing over at Ashi, who was now showing off some of her hand-to-hand moves to Kiba. "I just hope I can live up to the expectations."
"You will," Shino said quietly. "As long as you continue to trust in your abilities and your team."
Hikari nodded, taking his advice to heart. Shino wasn't someone who spoke unnecessarily, and his calm, measured approach was oddly comforting. It reminded her that there were many different ways to be a shinobi—not just the loud, brash kind like Ashi, but also the thoughtful, strategic kind like herself.
Nearby, Kazaya remained by himself, leaning casually against a tree as he observed the group. He didn't feel particularly drawn to socialize, and the idea of meeting Naruto's old friends didn't really excite him. But still, he couldn't deny that there was something interesting about watching the way they all interacted—especially Naruto himself.
Naruto, for all his reputation as a goofball, seemed different when he was around people he cared about. His usual carefree attitude was still there, but there was a depth to him Kazaya hadn't expected. He carried the weight of responsibility differently than most shinobi. Maybe that was why he had become the Hokage's apprentice and a hero—he didn't take anything for granted.
Kazaya sighed quietly, pushing those thoughts aside as he focused back on the present. "Just another day," he muttered to himself, though he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to this team than he had initially realized.
As the afternoon sun rose higher, casting long shadows over the training field, Naruto finally gathered everyone together.
"Alright, Team 7," Naruto called, his voice carrying over the field. "I wanted to introduce you to some of my friends not just so you could meet them, but so you could see what it means to build bonds as a shinobi."
He gestured to Kiba, Shino, and Hinata, each of whom nodded in agreement. "These guys helped me through some of the toughest times of my life. We fought together, trained together, and we've stayed connected even after all the craziness of the war. I want you all to remember that no matter how strong you are individually, your greatest strength will always be your bonds with your teammates."
Hikari, Ashi, and Kazaya listened intently, each of them absorbing the lesson in their own way. For Hikari, it was a reminder that she didn't have to do everything alone—that she could rely on her teammates. For Ashi, it was confirmation that strength came from more than just raw power. And for Kazaya, it was a subtle nudge that maybe, just maybe, this whole team thing wasn't as pointless as he had originally thought.
Naruto clapped his hands together, the easygoing grin returning to his face. "Alright, enough of the serious stuff. We've got the rest of the day free, so why don't we grab something to eat? My treat!"
Ashi's eyes lit up. "Ramen at Ichiraku's?!"
Naruto's grin widened. "You know it!"
The team, along with Naruto's friends, made their way toward the village, the atmosphere light and filled with easy conversation. Hikari walked beside Ashi, who was still buzzing with energy from meeting Kiba, while Kazaya trailed behind, his usual disinterested expression hiding the fact that he was actually enjoying the relaxed pace of the day.
As they approached the village center, Naruto fell back in line with Hinata, giving her a small smile. "Thanks for coming today," he said quietly. "I think they really needed this."
Hinata returned his smile, her eyes soft. "Of course, Naruto-kun. You're a wonderful sensei. They're lucky to have you."
Naruto blushed slightly, rubbing the back of his head. "I don't know about that, but I'm trying. They remind me a lot of how we used to be, y'know?"
Hinata nodded, her gaze turning toward the excited students ahead of them. "Yes… they do. And just like back then, you'll guide them to become something great."
Naruto's grin softened, and for a moment, he and Hinata simply walked together, side by side, enjoying the simple peace of the day.
