Hey guys, back with chapter 4. I realized I didn't explain too much about Team 7 and their dynamic. Hikari is going to be like the strategist/support of the team. Ashi is obviously my modern day female Naruto. Liking to go head first into battle. Kazaya is also a fighter as well. Abilities of theirs will be explained through out the story. Anyways, first mission time! Let's get into Team 7's journey. Enjoy!
The next morning, the sky was a pale blue canvas as the sun rose over the Hidden Leaf Village. The air was crisp, and there was a palpable excitement in the air as Team 7 stood outside the Hokage Tower, waiting for their sensei. Today was special. Today, they would embark on their first official mission as a team.
Ashi was pacing in front of the building, barely able to contain her energy. Yuna, her husky pup, pranced around her feet, sensing her excitement. "This is it! Our first real mission! I wonder what it's going to be—fighting rogue shinobi? A top-secret infiltration mission?"
Hikari smiled at Ashi's enthusiasm, though she felt a little nervous herself. "I'm not sure it'll be that extreme on our first mission," she said gently, adjusting her forehead protector. "But whatever it is, I'm sure Naruto-sensei will make sure we're prepared."
Kazaya leaned against the side of the building, arms crossed, his usual calm demeanor intact. "As long as it's not something boring like guarding a caravan or finding someone's lost cat."
Ashi scoffed. "Come on, Kazaya! This is our first mission! It's gotta be something exciting, right?"
At that moment, Naruto appeared in a blur of orange and black, his signature grin already plastered on his face as he approached the team. "Morning, Team 7!" he greeted, his voice filled with his usual energy.
"Naruto-sensei!" Ashi practically jumped in place. "What's our mission? What are we doing?"
Naruto chuckled, holding up a scroll. "Hold on, Ashi. Let's get inside first, and I'll explain everything."
They followed Naruto into the Hokage Tower, where they were directed to a small briefing room. The walls were lined with maps of the surrounding area, and a large mission board stood in the corner, displaying various assignments for different shinobi teams. Naruto motioned for them to sit down as he unrolled the scroll and laid it flat on the table.
"Alright," Naruto began, his tone shifting slightly to a more serious one, "your first mission as a team is officially a D-rank mission. It's simple, but it's meant to get you used to working together in the field."
Ashi's excitement deflated slightly. "D-rank? That's like… the lowest, right?"
Hikari nodded, understanding the logic behind it. "D-rank missions are usually non-combat missions, like running errands or small tasks for the village. It's a way to get used to being on missions without too much danger."
Kazaya sighed, clearly unimpressed. "So, we're glorified delivery boys?"
Naruto rolled up the scroll with a grin. "Don't worry, Kazaya. Every shinobi starts with D-rank missions. Even I had to do a bunch of them when I first started out. Trust me, the tougher missions will come soon enough."
"So what's our mission?" Hikari asked, leaning forward slightly.
Naruto cleared his throat, his grin widening. "You'll be helping out with a local farmer who's had some trouble with wild boars wrecking his crops. He needs you to escort him to his fields and help protect his harvest."
Ashi groaned. "Boars? That's it?"
Kazaya muttered, "Told you it'd be something boring."
Hikari, always the practical one, gave them both a pointed look. "It's still our first mission, and it's important. If we can't handle this, how are we going to handle the harder ones later?"
Naruto nodded, pleased with Hikari's level-headedness. "Exactly. Every mission, no matter how small, is important. The people of this village depend on us for things like this, so we need to take it seriously. Besides…" He grinned, leaning in a little. "Boars can be pretty dangerous if you're not careful."
Ashi perked up at that, her competitive spirit reigniting. "Alright! If it means we get to take down some wild boars, I'm in!"
Kazaya shrugged, clearly indifferent. "As long as it doesn't turn into a babysitting job."
Naruto stood up and gave them all a thumbs-up. "Good! Meet me at the village gates in half an hour, and we'll head out to meet the farmer."
Thirty minutes later, Team 7 assembled at the village gates. Naruto stood with the mission scroll tucked into his vest, waiting for his team to arrive. As the three genin gathered around him, Naruto noticed a sense of camaraderie that hadn't been there a few days ago. The team was starting to gel, even if Kazaya still played the part of the indifferent one.
"Ready to go, Team 7?" Naruto asked.
"Ready!" Ashi declared, Yuna barking in agreement.
Hikari nodded, a determined expression on her face. "We're ready, Naruto-sensei."
Kazaya sighed, though there was a small smirk on his face. "Let's get this over with."
The mission was taking them just outside the village, to a small farm that bordered one of the nearby forests. As they traveled along the dirt path, Naruto took the time to explain the mission in more detail.
"The farmer's crops have been getting wrecked by wild boars every night," Naruto said, keeping a steady pace ahead of his students. "It's your job to escort him to the fields and help protect the crops from any more damage. It might seem simple, but you never know what might happen out here."
Ashi was practically buzzing with excitement. "I can't wait to see these boars! Yuna and I are going to take them down in one move!"
Kazaya, walking with his hands in his pockets, raised an eyebrow. "Boars aren't exactly life-threatening enemies, Ashi."
"Yeah, but they're still trouble!" Ashi shot back. "And they're big! Right, Naruto-sensei?"
Naruto chuckled. "They're definitely tough, Ashi. Don't underestimate them."
As they approached the farm, they were greeted by an older man, his face weathered from years of working in the fields. He had a straw hat on and a sturdy build, though the stress of dealing with the boars was evident in his expression.
"Are you the shinobi sent to help me?" the farmer asked, his voice hopeful but wary.
Naruto nodded, giving the man a reassuring smile. "That's right. This is Team 7, and we're here to take care of your boar problem."
The farmer's shoulders relaxed slightly, and he gestured for them to follow him toward his fields. "It's been getting worse the past few nights. The boars come in after dark, tearing up my crops and wrecking the fences. I've tried scaring them off, but they're not afraid of much."
As they walked, Naruto turned to his team. "Alright, here's where the real mission begins. You're going to set up defenses around the fields to keep the boars out. But remember, this isn't just about brute force. You'll need to use your heads, too."
Hikari's mind immediately began racing with ideas. "We could set up traps along the perimeter to force the boars into a specific area. That way, we can control where they go and keep them away from the crops."
Kazaya nodded, his expression thoughtful. "Ashi's strength will come in handy if we need to stop them physically, but we'll need to be strategic about how we use our resources."
Ashi grinned. "I like the sound of that! Yuna and I can handle the heavy lifting. Just tell me where to go."
Naruto smiled, watching his students take initiative. "Good thinking, you guys. Set up the traps and be ready for anything. Boars are unpredictable, so stay sharp."
As the sun began to set, Team 7 finished setting up their perimeter around the farmer's fields. Hikari had drawn up a quick plan, using tripwires and small traps to funnel the boars into a specific area where they could be dealt with more easily. Kazaya had placed a few well-timed smoke bombs to disorient the animals if needed, while Ashi and Yuna prepared themselves for the physical confrontation.
They didn't have to wait long.
Just as darkness settled over the farm, a rustling noise came from the nearby forest. The ground trembled slightly, and the distant sound of grunting and snorting echoed through the fields.
"Here they come!" Ashi whispered excitedly, her body tensing with anticipation.
Hikari crouched low, her eyes scanning the treeline. "Everyone, stick to the plan. We don't want to scare them off until they're in position."
Kazaya, calm as always, kept his ninjato drawn, ready to move when the time was right.
Suddenly, three massive wild boars burst out of the trees, charging straight for the farmer's crops. Their tusks gleamed in the moonlight, and their thick, muscled bodies plowed through the underbrush with surprising speed.
"Now!" Hikari shouted.
The traps were triggered, ropes snapping into place and guiding the boars toward the designated area. One of the smoke bombs went off, disorienting the animals just enough to slow their advance.
Ashi and Yuna were already in motion. "Let's go, Yuna!" she shouted as she charged forward, meeting the lead boar head-on. With a powerful leap, she slammed her fist into the side of the beast, knocking it off balance.
Ashi's punch landed solidly, sending the lead boar stumbling backward with a loud grunt. Yuna darted around the animal, barking ferociously and nipping at its legs to drive it away from the crops. The other two boars hesitated for a moment, clearly startled by the sudden resistance, but they were far from giving up.
Kazaya, his expression still calm and focused, leaped into action. He moved like a shadow, his ninjato flashing in the moonlight as he cut through the tall grass, moving toward the second boar. With precise movements, he struck at the boar's flank, using the flat of his blade to keep the beast at bay rather than harming it unnecessarily. The boar, confused and overwhelmed by the smoke, tried to charge but stumbled as it hit one of the traps Hikari had set.
Hikari, staying near the edge of the field, kept her eyes on the third boar. Her plan had worked, but now came the hard part—staying in control of the chaos. She couldn't match Ashi's brute strength or Kazaya's agility, but her mind was her greatest weapon. She had studied boar behavior before the mission, knowing they were strong and fast, but predictable in their movements once they were cornered.
"Time to lead you into the trap," she whispered to herself as she adjusted her position, making sure the last boar was herded into the final section of the field.
With careful movements, she flung a kunai with a chakra-infused wire attached, striking the ground just in front of the boar's path. The sudden glint of metal and the tension of the wire startled the animal, causing it to veer to the left—right into the remaining smoke bombs.
"Now, Ashi!" Hikari called out.
Ashi, still grappling with the lead boar, saw the opening and disengaged. She leapt toward the final boar, Yuna right at her side. In a swift, fluid motion, Ashi delivered a final blow to the boar's side, knocking it down.
With all three boars now cornered and disoriented, Hikari let out a relieved breath. The plan had worked.
Naruto, who had been watching closely from the sidelines to see how his students would handle the situation, clapped his hands and walked toward them with a proud grin. "Great job, Team 7! You worked together perfectly."
Ashi beamed, wiping some dirt off her face. "Those boars didn't stand a chance!"
Kazaya sheathed his ninjato, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Not bad for our first mission, I guess."
Hikari, still catching her breath, nodded in agreement. "Everyone did great. It all came together."
The farmer, who had been anxiously watching from a safe distance, approached with wide eyes. "Thank you, thank you so much! Those boars were a menace, but you handled them like real professionals!"
Naruto turned to the farmer with a smile. "It was no problem. Team 7 here did all the hard work."
The farmer shook each of their hands gratefully before leading them back to his home to give them some fresh produce as thanks.
As they made their way back to the village, the air was filled with quiet satisfaction. Their first mission had been a success, and despite it being a simple D-rank task, it had brought them closer as a team. Hikari, Ashi, and Kazaya worked together to overcome the challenge, and in doing so, they learned more about each other's strengths.
"Alright, that's a wrap for today," Naruto said as they reached the village gates. "Take the rest of the day to rest up. Tomorrow, we'll debrief and start planning for the next mission."
Ashi stretched, yawning. "I'm so pumped for the next one! I can't wait!"
Kazaya just gave a nod, his usual cool demeanor intact. "Yeah, yeah. Just make sure it's something more interesting next time."
Hikari smiled, feeling a sense of accomplishment as they split up. As she walked home through the quiet streets, the excitement of the day still lingered in her mind. She couldn't wait to tell her mother about everything that had happened.
Later that evening, Hikari sat at the kitchen table, her mother pouring them both some tea as they settled in for dinner. The warm scent of freshly cooked rice and vegetables filled the air, a welcome comfort after a long day. Hikari's mother, Sato Haruka, had the same soft features and gentle eyes as her daughter, though her hair was shorter and slightly grayed from the years.
"So," her mother began, sitting down across from her, "how did your first mission go?"
Hikari smiled, stirring her tea. "It went really well. We had to deal with some wild boars tearing up a farmer's crops, but we managed to work together and drive them off. It wasn't anything too dangerous, but it was exciting."
Her mother raised an eyebrow, a playful smile on her lips. "Wild boars? That does sound a little dangerous."
Hikari chuckled softly. "Maybe a little. But Ashi was so strong, and Kazaya was really quick with his ninjato. I think we all played our parts really well."
Haruka sipped her tea, her eyes softening as she listened. "It sounds like you're getting along well with your teammates."
Hikari hesitated for a moment, thinking about it. "Yeah, I think so. Ashi's really energetic as always, and Kazaya is… well, he's not exactly the easiest person to talk to, but he's good at what he does. I feel like I'm still finding my place, though. They're both so confident in their roles. I just don't want to be the weak link."
Her mother reached across the table and gently placed her hand over Hikari's. "You're not a weak link, Hikari. You're thoughtful, strategic, and you care about your team. Those are strengths too. Just because you don't have the same loud confidence as Ashi doesn't mean you're not just as important."
Hikari looked down at their joined hands, feeling a wave of reassurance wash over her. Her mother had always known exactly what to say to calm her worries.
"I guess you're right," Hikari murmured. "It's just hard sometimes, feeling like I don't measure up to them."
Haruka smiled warmly. "You have your own unique talents, and those will shine through as you grow. Don't compare yourself to others so much. Focus on what you can contribute. Naruto wouldn't have chosen you for his team if he didn't believe in you."
Hikari nodded, feeling a little more confident. "Thanks, Mom. I'll try to remember that."
They sat in comfortable silence for a few moments, the soft clinking of their tea cups filling the room. Finally, Hikari's mother spoke again, her voice gentle but firm.
"And remember, Hikari, no one becomes a great shinobi overnight. Give yourself time to grow. Trust in your abilities and your teammates. You're already on the right path."
Hikari smiled, feeling more at peace. "Thanks, Mom. I'll do my best."
As they continued their dinner, Hikari's thoughts drifted back to the mission, the bonds she was forming with her team, and the challenges that lay ahead. It wouldn't always be easy, but with the support of her teammates and her mother's wisdom guiding her, she felt ready to face whatever came next.
