Helping Tami

During the time when Reina was helping out Ai and Sentarou, Reina had decided to keep on Tami from episode 45 of Hell Girl. As Tami became Ai's client not long after she was made Hell Girl, Reina decided it was better to watch Tami while she was not helping out with Ai's village.

So the first time Reina left Ai's village she used teleport to get to the village Tami used to live before she left it after sending Kahei to hell. At this time Tami was still a child, therefore she didn't have plans to marry Kahei's son Yohei yet. Not to mention Kahei hadn't found his hot spring yet. So right now everything was normal.

Reina had a real thought through about what happened during episode 45, in Tami's time, and how and when Tami's grief started. "I could tell Tami now about what could happen to her in the future now," she said to herself "but then again if I persuade her not to get into a relationship with Yohei, then there might be another girl who will go through the depression Tami went before Kahei has his son marry Hana". Just then a thought suddenly struck her. Since Tami's engagement to Yohei was over all because Kahei found the hot spring, then what if he found it earlier than planned? "Yes that will work;" she said "have that man find the hot spring now then have his son engaged to Hana now. Then no girl will end up engaged to Yohei in the future and they won't suffer, including Tami".

So now Reina had a plan to help Tami, she just needed to put it into place now. Thankfully she had enough time before she had to get back to Ai's village. Right now she was dressed just like other japanese women at that time. Reina walked into the village and up to just near the house where Kahei and his family lived. "Time to put a plan to action" she whispered, and disguised herself as a fortune teller.

Right now Kahei was standing outside his home, watching his son Yohei play with a toy. Yohei was still a child too at this time. Reina bravely walked over to Kahei. "Good day Kahei-san" said Reina. Kahei noticed Reina. "I haven't seen you around here before" said Kahei. "I am a travelling fortune teller who likes visiting different villagers to read people's fortunes," lied Reina "I don't suppose I could interest you of telling your fortune Kahei-san?" "Hmm," sighed Kahei "I don't really believe in fortune tellers. But if you can tell me how and when I could build a great fortune to my home I will listen to what you have to tell me". 'Good the plan is starting to work' Reina thought. "Very well sir," she said "let us see what the pond has to say". Reina and Kahei walked to a nearby pond and Reina dropped a stone in the water for the ripples to appear. (Reina is pretending to use Lecanomancy to predict Kahei's future) "Ah-ha I see," said Reina "the ripples are telling me that if you dig around the area where your house stands, you will find something that will help you earn a good fortune". Kahei wasn't so sure if he could believe that, but decided to follow Reina's words anyway.

To Kahei's surprise he ended up finding a hot spring not long he started digging around the area he lived. "I can't believe it!" he cried "a hot spring here on my land?! I can make a great future for my house with this". "I take it you are glad you listened to my fortune telling Kahei-san?" said Reina. "Absolutely!" answered Kahei. Kahei knelt down in front of Reina and thanked her a lot. "You're welcome sir" replied Reina. Of course it wasn't long Kahei started to make plans of asking the hot spring inn in Arima for advice and have his son Yohei betrothed to the daughter of the family.

Reina left Kahei's side while he was sorting out plans to check on Tami. At this time Tami was still living a happy time with her family, so right now everything was normal. But there was still something Reina had to look on during this time. That something was Wanyuudou. "I don't know exactly when it was Wanyuudou became a youkai, but I better check on that road now" she said. (All I know is Wanyuudou was a rolling spirit when Tami wanted to get revenge, but the episode didn't really reveal when the carriage incident happened so I'm just going to make it up here)

Reina teleported to the area where Wanyuudou's carriage was supposed to have crashed after it fell off the mountain during the war. The remains of the broken carriage were there but no dead bodies. The enemy in the war obviously disposed of the princess's body and her followers to get rid of evidence. "This must have happened before Ai was even born," Reina said thoughtfully "I'll have to see tonight if Wanyuudou has become a yokai yet".

So that night Reina walked around the area in the dark, holding a lamp. But Wanyuudou didn't turn up. "That's strange," Reina said "I thought Wanyuudou would have started rolling around and scaring everyone by now. Maybe I got the timing wrong and he didn't start rolling around until sometime before Ai was killed by the villagers. I guess I'll just have to keep watch here till I find him". All Reina could do now was keep an eye on this area now and again to wait for Wanyuudou to reveal himself.

Over the years, while Reina was not helping Ai and Sentarou, Reina kept a word out for Wanyuudou. With her powers she was able to work in the area as a worker in a small restaurant. (She has the same Memory Manipulation powers like Ai and her companions had in the anime) This way she could keep an ear out for Wanyuudou. She also kept an eye on Kahei and Tami to see how things were going. Obviously Kahei had arranged Yohei's marriage to Hana by now. Reina learnt from the villagers Kahei had learnt from Hana's parents about how to run an inn and when they agreed to have their daughter marry Yohei. As for Tami, to Reina's surprise, she had found a lover and they planned to get married.

Reina decided to pay Tami a visit to see what her new lover was like. She found Tami and her lover talking together by a flowery field. Just then the man went off to get something. "Hello there" she said to Tami. "Oh hello can I help you with anything?" said Tami. "Oh no," said Reina "it's just I noticed how happy you looked with your lover. I take it you two are in love with each other and plan to get married?" "How did you know that?" asked Tami. "I am a fortune teller miss and I can sense what's happening" answered Reina. Tami explained to Reina that she and her lover Oda had been in love for a few years and decided to marry. "I am happy to see you have found happiness Tami-san" said Reina. "Yes although I have to admit," said Tami "can I tell you a secret of mine miss?" "Of course" answered Reina. Tami explained to Reina that she had liked Yohei before and she was surprised about what happened with Kahei's hot spring and his decision to engage Yohei to a woman who knew about handling a hot spring. "You should be glad that happened a few years ago and not now Tami-san," said Reina "I knew a woman whose engagement was cancelled due to her fiancée's family's business". Reina told Tami about a woman who was engaged to a son of a rich family, but the engagement was called off and she was abandoned because the family she was going to marry into found a new business. "And just because they opened a new business the family wanted a bride more suitable so the woman was abandoned along with the child she was carrying" finished Reina. (This story was about Tami's story, but of course Reina isn't going to reveal the real truth) "That is so selfish of that family" said Tami "what happened to the woman afterwards?" "She died along with the hatred she had of that family and their business," sighed Reina "so be glad Kahei found his hot spring earlier, otherwise you could have gone the same thing the poor woman went through". Tami believed and agreed with Reina's words and was indeed grateful to have someone else to love.

After finishing her quest of helping Ai and Sentarou escape the village, Reina listened out for Wanyuudou again. This time Wanyuudou was seen. So that night Reina walked around the area again and waited for him to turn up. It wasn't long till Wanyuudou did turn up. He rolled past Reina in his firey wheel form. Reina did feel scared by that but she didn't run away in a panic and just bravely walked on. Wanyuudou rolled over to Reina again. "Why are you not afraid of me?" he asked. Reina plucked up courage. "I have to admit I do find your appearance scary," she said "but I can plainly see you are a youkai who went through a terrible time. And you are just rolling around like that to release your stress or something like that". Wanyuudou flinched at Reina's words because she was right. "I keep rolling because I feel regret" he said. He told Reina about when he was a carriage and how his mistress, a princess, died during the war while she was trying to escape. Of course Reina knew already about what happened with the princess, who Wanyuudou was carrying, but she played the part. "I take it you feel bad for not being able to help save your princess right?" asked Reina. Wanyuudou stayed silent; he did feel bad for not saving his mistress. "Then come with me and be my helper" said Reina.

Reina explained to Wanyuudou that she was traveling around Japan, helping innocent people. "I have an ability to tell that some poor soul is going to suffer because of terrible people" lied Reina. She couldn't tell him the real truth about why she knew bad things were going to happen to innocent people. Wanyuudou found it hard to believe. "Since you just said you regret of not being able to save your mistress, well maybe you can make up for it by helping me save innocent people" said Reina. Wanyuudou stared silently and Reina and then sighed. "You are a strange woman" he said. Wanyuudou had never met anyone like Reina; a woman who is talking to him at ease. "What is your name?" Wanyuudou asked Reina. "I am Reina Masayoshi," answered Reina "you're called Wanyuudou right? I heard other people calling you that". "Yes that is what I am called" said Wanyuudou. "So Wanyuudou have you made your decision yet?" asked Reina. Wanyuudou sighed and agreed to follow Reina. He felt he didn't have any other choice because he didn't really know what to do with himself. Reina was glad she was able to make Wanyuudou her assistant; she also planned to make Ren and Honna Onna her assistants too. "Do you have a human form apart from your regular form Wanyuudou?" asked Reina. Wanyuudou answered her question by transforming into a human. (The same human form from the anime) "Good, now come with me and I will show you what I do" said Reina.

Reina used her teleportation skill to teleport herself and Wanyuudou to Kahei's inn. "Where are we?" asked Wanyuudou. "This a hot spring inn," answered Reina "I helped the owner find the hot spring six years ago. I brought us here because I still have some business to sort out with that family". She transformed back into a fortune teller, to Wanyuudou's surprise. "Pretending to be a fortune teller was how I helped the owner find the hot spring" she explained. Wanyuudou was speechless.

The two entered the inn and they got greeted by Hana. "Welcome to Kahei Haven" she said. "Hello my friend and I would like a room for the night please" said Reina. "Certainly" said Hana. Just then Kahei turned up. "Oh it's you!" he gasped. "Nice to meet you again Kahei-san" greeted Reina "I see your hot spring hotel is going well". Kahei explained to Hana that Reina was the fortune teller who helped him find the hot spring. "Oh I see," said Hana "well I am honoured to meet you miss fortune teller. I also wish to thank you as well. Because you helped the family with their hot spring, I ended up with the honour of marrying Yohei". "Oh so you got married to Kahei's son?" asked Reina, pretending not to know. "Yes I got married to Yohei a couple of months ago," answered Hana "because my family run an inn in Arima, Kahei-san decided I would be perfect for his son. So now I don't have to worry about living as a spinster". "Good for you" replied Reina.

Reina and Wanyuudou were given a nice room to stay in. As Reina helped the family find the hot spring, Kahei insisted on giving Reina the best room and food. "So tell me miss," said Wanyuudou "you said you were going to help people before they were wronged by other people. Is that family the one who was going to be wronged by somebody?" "No it is somebody else who would have suffered from this family," said Reina "I will show you who it was tomorrow".

The next day Reina and Wanyuudou walked out of the hotel and went to see Tami. When they got near to her home, they found out from the other villagers Tami had married her lover by now and she was carrying his child. Reina was happy that this time Tami had found happiness. "That woman Tami was the one I was helping" Reina said to Wanyuudou. She explained to him what Tami would have gone through if she didn't have Kahei find his hot spring earlier. "So you're saying that woman would have hated Kahei-san and his family forever due to their selfishness and greediness?" asked Wanyuudou. "I'm afraid so," said Reina "hate has no limit. That is why I made that move of preventing Tami's terrible fate from happening. Because of that she has found real love and happiness now". Wanyuudou started to understand everything now. "So are you finished with helping Tami-san now?" asked Wanyuudou. "Yes but there is still one thing I want to do before I complete this task" said Reina.

Reina and Wanyuudou went back to the inn to check out and Reina asked to see Kahei. "Do you mind if I do one more fortune telling for you Kahei-san?" she asked him. "Of course," said Kahei "your fortune telling helped me a great deal last time. So I will gladly hear a new fortune telling from you". "Thank you," said Reina "would you mind if your son and daughter-in-law hears this too?" She had a plan to scare the family, especially Kahei. Yohei and Hana joined Kahei to listen to Reina's fortune telling. Kahei had a big bowl of water ready for Reina and Reina dropped in a stone. "Ah the ripples are telling me something," she said "they are saying this hot spring will come to an end just before this inn would reach the years of 400". The family was shocked to hear this. "And they say a lot of dishonesty will be building up through your descendants". The family was shocked to hear this too. "Can this be stopped?" asked Kahei, nervously. "I am afraid no hot spring lasts forever sir," said Reina "so you and your family should cherish this hot spring while you can. And Yohei-san and Hana-san I suggest you teach your future children not to be dishonest, deceitful, greedy and selfish, otherwise that would lead to your family's downfall". "Of course," said Hana "I don't want any of my future children to become dishonest, greedy, selfish and deceitful". "Um same here" said Yohei. Kahei just stayed silent and agreed to do what Reina said.

After that Reina and Wanyuudou left the inn. "Is it true this hot spring inn will only last before 400 years has past?" asked Wanyuudou. "I'm afraid so," said Reina "surely you understand that nothing lasts forever don't you Wanyuudou?" "That I do" admitted Wanyuudou. After what happened with the royal family he served, he did see nothing lasts forever. "Where will you be going now Reina-san?" asked Wanyuudou. "I will go wherever it is my sixth sense tells me to go to" lied Reina. "Then lead the way" said Wanyuudou.

So Reina had helped Tami find happiness and had Wanyuudou as her assistant.

I don't know exactly the time lines when a lot of the events in Hell Girl happened so I'll be making a lot of things up as I go along. I'll have Reina visit the inn later on again to tell the family to close the in when the hot spring dries up. I hate to think what ever happened to Tami after she sent Kahei to hell; no doubt she never found new happiness because of her insanity and having a child out of wedlock.
