Imperfect Reincarnation
Chapter Two

Darien knelt, one gloved hand gripping the window frame and the other resting on his knee, as he stared down at his soulmate.

He was beyond pleased that they were once again born on the same planet, but infuriated that she was once again the scout of the Moon. He didn't know how the hell that happened. They were in a new lifetime; their only reincarnation as far as he could tell.

This should not have happened! How did this happen? She should not be Sailor Moon again! He thought angrily as he closed his eyes briefly.

"I love you as well my Serenity. I will find you again, and you will remember what we had." He remembered his last words to her as he opened his eyes.

Well he had found her. She had called to him, likely unconsciously considering her present identity, and because their bond was still there he had followed their connection directly to her.

It was the same connection he had to her in the past. Once he had found her on the Moon her presence in the back of his mind had become larger, and he had memorized every little nuance of her to the point that he could follow their connection directly to her, which is how he could find her as this scout of the Moon now.

He was simply going to have to get her to remember him, remember her past, her true past, and what they had together. And he would not rest until he did.

But not now. I need to organize my thoughts, my memories, and think. However, I will make contact with her. I need to be in her presence, to hear her voice, to hear her words directed at me. He thought before he focused on the scene below.

Darien watched as his Serenity ran around for a bit to try and make some room for herself considering how many people she was up against. Then she began to fight them off one and two at a time, knocking them unconscious to the floor. She was doing well, the same as she had when he spared with her on the Moon, but not as well as she would have if she remembered she was Sailor Earth.

Once she had finished knocking out all the people she turned and faced the monster. The look on her face was wary and hesitant, and he saw both emotions for what they were. She was wary of what the female could do, and unsure of what to do next.

The female took the decision out of her hands and attacked, her arm stretching unnaturally as it went streaking toward Serenity. Her eyes widened in panicked surprise, and she stepped back before she dodged to the side just before the clawed hand could touch her.

The monster, for that was what the female clearly was from what he had seen of her so far, continued to attack its arm stretching as Serenity dodged this way and that way. She moved around and over counters as she tried to stay out of reach of the claws, and it was clear to him that she didn't know what to do about the being she was up against. She couldn't fight it like she had with the people, so what could she possibly do?

"Sailor Moon! What are you doing?! Fight it!" He suddenly heard a female voice say. He shifted his eyes around the room below but he could not locate the one the voice belonged to.

He moved his eyes back to his soulmate as she began to try and move over the unconscious people as she dodged but her foot caught the leg of a woman and she stumbled before she tripped completely and fell to the floor.

Darien didn't even think as the monster's claws streaked toward Serenity's face. A flower, a rose, was flying from his hand as he threw it straight toward the monster's hand. It landed right in the back of the monster's hand and it screamed in pain, but its hand quickly moved away from Serenity which was what he wanted.

Sailor Moon moved away from the woman she had tripped over and shifted until she was kneeling on one knee. She looked up toward the ceiling and scanned to try and see where the flower, that she had barely seen, came from and spotted a man kneeling in a large window frame.

She blinked in surprise at the strange appearance, but didn't feel like he was a threat as her eyes took in his masked face.

"Sailor Moon!" She heard Luna's voice and looked down as she suddenly appeared at her side. "Why aren't you fighting the monster?!" She asked.

"Fight?" Sailor Moon said as she quickly focused on the monster. "I don't have anything to fight it with! I'm not about to get close to it, and long distance fighting is out of the question."

"Use your tiara!" Luna said seriously.

"Tiara?!" Sailor Moon said in surprise.

"Yes! Take off your tiara, and say 'moon tiara action' and throw it at the monster." The feline instructed.

Sailor Moon reached up with her gloved hand and grabbed her tiara by the v-juncture and pulled it off. Immediately it began to glow a soft white that grew brighter as it morphed into a glowing disk and floated just above her fingertips.

"Moon Tiara Action!" She called out as she threw the glowing disk. The tiara turned weapon sped through the air and hit the monster square in the chest.

The monster screamed, its body stiffening and glowing, before it stopped abruptly and began to crumple to dust. She caught her tiara as it returned to her and placed it back on her forehead as she watched the pile of dust on the floor disappear. She then looked back up and saw that the masked man was still at the window looking down.

Sailor Moon blinked and scanned the room and ceiling before she leapt up onto one of the glass counters. She ran along it until she reached the end that lead to a low diagonal wall, and leapt over it into a stairway. She ran up the stairs two at a time to the next floor before she jumped onto the wall railing and leapt to a chandelier.

She focused and climbed up the chain before she leapt over to a long decorative curtain. She gripped the curtain with her gloved hands and carefully climbed the thick fabric until she reached the window and climbed through it.

"Impressive." The man said as she stood straight, and she blushed as she looked to him.

"Thank you." Sailor Moon said, surprised at the rapid ascent she had just made with only a quick scan of her surroundings. "And thanks for the help in there." She added.

"You're welcome." He said quietly.

"How long have you been here?" She asked curiously.

"I saw you knock out all of those people down there as they attacked you before you faced the monster." He answered.

"You saw all of that and chose not to help." Sailor Moon said.

"You didn't need my help." He said calmly. "I knew you could do it."

Sailor Moon smiled. She was pleased for some reason that this mystery man had faith in her, especially since it was her first fight.

"So, why are you here?" She asked, partly out of curiosity and partly to hear his voice again.

"I'm here to help you." He said sincerely then sighed lightly. "I should let you go. Have a good night. I'll see you next time." He said as he turned and began to walk away along the rooftop.

"You're here to help the Sailor Scouts?" She asked quickly before he could get too far, and she watched him pause and look back toward her.

"No. I'm only here to help you." He answered firmly.

"Sailor Moon!" They heard a feminine voice call from inside the store.

Darien turned and continued on his way taking that chance to leave, knowing if he didn't then he would be tempted to stay and follow his Serenity back to her home. He would love nothing more than to learn more about her, learn anything and everything about her, but he needed to get home and sort through his thoughts and memories.

I'll see her again. He thought firmly, completely sure of that fact.

He ran and leapt to the next roof before he gathered more speed and leapt to the roof of a building across the wide street and began to make his way back home.

As he ran he couldn't help thinking back on the fight he had just witnessed. As he watched his Serenity fight he saw that she had the right instincts, but it was as if she was having a hard time switching from fighting humans to fighting monsters. Had she remembered that she was Sailor Earth she would have known what to do with that monster. They hadn't had to deal with such creatures in the past, but she definitely had the abilities to handle them.

Now that I've actually seen her in action it appears that my soulmate was not only turned into the scout of the Moon, but a weakened scout at that. The only thing she has to use is her above average strength, speed, and her tiara. He thought with a severe frown; the knowledge only adding to his anger with the Moon Princess.

Darien paused abruptly as he landed on top of a telephone pole. A slightly painful rippling sensation had just flowed through his mind. It confused him for a moment until it reminded him of the agonizing pain of his memories returning, and he realized the sensation was a signal to let him know his soulmate had released her transformation.

Hmm...that must mean I will likely be able to sense every time she transforms and releases it. He thought with a slight nod. If that sensation is all I feel as a result then that is fine. I will get use to it. It is more important that I have a sure way to know when she needs me. He thought, knowing that he wouldn't always know her status and when she was in need of him until she remembered who she really was.

He leapt from the pole and continued on his way leaping poles, and jumping rooftops until he reached his apartment building. He looked around and, seeing that all was quiet and a majority of the lights were off, carefully jumped and climbed the various balconies until he reached his own and went inside.

Darien closed the glass door and sighed heavily as he released his transformation returning to the sweat pants and t-shirt he had been originally wearing. He then stepped toward his couch and sat down heavily and let his eyes drift around his apartment. It was the same as it had been an hour before; days, weeks, and months before. The only difference was him.

I am Prince Endymion of the Golden Kingdom, heir to the throne of the Earth, and my soulmate is Serenity, scout of the Earth. My fiancée, and future Queen. He told himself clearly.

He remembered it all. It actually felt like no time had passed though he was still Darien Shields. He had still lived this modern life. Had become orphaned when he was still just a child, was still studying to become a doctor, and still considered Andrew Foreman to be his best friend.

Only now I am more. I am Endymion. I am a soldier. I am a prince. I am a leader. I am a fiancé. He thought, and frowned as he recalled that he couldn't add husband and lover to that list. Those titles had been taken from him before he could acquire them.

Only a few short weeks away from acquiring them. He thought with a frown as he remembered the confusion, pain, anger, and fury that had flared through him as he woke one day to find the woman that he had loved for years, the woman he was going to marry, his soulmate had disappeared overnight and she and the position she held erased from existence.

No one in the royal palace, or on the Earth, had heard of Serenity or Sailor Earth. Had in fact thought the position of scout of the Earth had never existed in the Earth's history.

Of course after months of shifting emotions, most predominantly anger and depression, at his inability to locate his soulmate it had come as a great surprise to see her on the Moon of all places, and upsettingly as the scout of the Moon. To see her hair arranged in the style of the royalty of the Moon, her sailor uniform shifted into an immature mockery of what it once was, and her obvious loyalty to the one who had taken her from her home and from him had his anger flaring up.

Darien closed his eyes in anger and pain as he remembered his conversation with the Moon Queen.

oOo

"I did not know if you would attend this gathering, but the moment I found you among the gathering and saw your reaction I was glad. It let me know that you were not affected." She said and he looked at her sharply. "Yes. I too was unaffected by what happened."

"Do you know what happened?" He asked, practically demanded to know. "I know only that your daughter is responsible."

"Yes. I know." The Queen said sadly. "It seems my daughter used her connection to the silver crystal, small as it is, to alter reality and make it the way she wanted it. She wanted Sailor Earth away from you, preferably under her control and unable to get to you, and for you to forget all about her so that she could have a chance with you. Presumably she would be the only one to catch your eye."

"Why? Why now?" Endymion asked. Everything had been quiet with her for a few weeks now. He especially had not expected anything from her with the news that she had not been informed about their upcoming wedding.

"I have come to understand that she acted because she found Sailor Venus' invitation to your wedding. Venus would not have left such an important document out in the open, especially with knowledge of my daughter's feelings for you. She clearly invaded her privacy and searched her rooms to find it." She answered calmly.

"I wanted to contact you, but I thought you would be as affected as everyone else. Now that I have spoken to you it seems that all within our solar system were affected except you, me, and the outer scouts. Everyone else's memories have been suppressed, and they have been given new ones."

"Yes. I well know about the new memories some have of me." Endymion said bitterly, and she nodded solemnly.

"Even my daughter has been affected." The Queen said and he frowned as he looked away even as she continued speaking. "She believes she has always had five guardian scouts. Clearly her...endeavor did not work as she had hoped. Highly likely because her heart was selfish, and she did not really know what she was doing. I believe had she gotten what she wanted only she would have remembered; thus enabling her to act in what she believed was her own best interest."

"Serenity herself believes that she was born and raised on the Moon, and that she was made a guardian scout at the same time as the others. Unfortunately, she also believes she is the specific protection of my daughter. Her double if you will should such an egregious event come to pass." She added.

oOo

The princess' selfishness had not only changed his entire world but changed the course of his planet. Ironically now that time had passed and he was able to think back on those last days and weeks he was able to figure out for the most part what had happened.

It was all connected. The evil being that had killed him had been on the Earth. He didn't know if it had originated there somehow or if it had come there. The fact was it had been there, and it hadn't been discovered when its effects began to spread because Sailor Earth was gone.

The greater prosperity of their planet had grown to rely on the protective cycle they had established. Serenity had protected the planet and its people, he protected her, his generals protected him, and she in turn protect all five of them as people of the Earth. With her gone the cycle had been broken, which in turn somehow lead to his generals being corrupted as well as Beryl.

He had wondered how the invasion of the Moon had happened, how Beryl had gotten access to his army, and now he believed he understood how it happened.

Beryl was corrupted first, especially considering how much her appearance had changed, which likely happened because of her infatuation with me. That in turn happened because of the change the princess caused. He thought with a frown.

Before the 'great change' she hadn't been infatuated with him because it was well known on the Earth that he and Sailor Earth had been engaged and would be married, and even before that knowledge was known everyone had known they were always close. With all knowledge of Sailor Earth disappearing there was nothing to stop her attention from turning to him.

So she became corrupted by the evil, and with her jealousy mixed in she targeted my Serenity and brought war to the Moon. He thought, easily seeing how she could have seen him with her as he showed her around, hoping to trigger her true memories. Though I do not understand why she would target the princess.

He believed Beryl had likely corrupted his generals, with the evil beings help, when she made her plan to invade the Moon, which would explain how she gained access to his soldiers.

And all this because Princess Selene wanted me, and wanted Serenity out of the way. Darien thought with an aggravated sigh. My Serenity. He thought softly as he recalled his first meeting with her after learning that she had been changed into a guardian to the Moon Princess.

oOo

Endymion made his way through the Moon Palace with the directions he had acquired from the Queen to the same garden where the luncheon was held days before. He opened the door and slipped outside and after scanning the area he spotted his Serenity sitting on a bench reading a book.

She was dressed as the scout of the Moon, which angered him, but he buried it since he was unwilling to allow his disgruntlement of her changed status to affect their meeting.

"Hello." He said as he walked to her, and watched her look up from her book and blink in surprise at his approach. She began to get up, but he stopped her with a wave of his hand.

"Hi." She said, relaxing back into her seat as she watched him.

"I am Endymion." He said, regardless of the fact that she likely knew his name already because of his status as heir to the throne of the Earth.

"I am Sailor Moon." She replied shyly.

"That cannot be the name you were given at birth." Endymion said lightly.

"No it is not, but sailor scouts do not usually give their birth name to those we do not know." She said.

"Then it is a good thing I plan to get to know you." He replied, and she blushed but looked confused.

"Are you not looking for Princess Selene?" Sailor Moon asked.

"I am not. I have come to see you." He said clearly.

"Why?" She asked as she looked up to him.

"Because I wish to get to know you." Endymion answered simply. "You could not have missed my looks in your direction at the luncheon days ago."

"I did not, but I did not want to make any assumptions." She said. "You are a prince after all and I am simply a soldier."

Endymion shook his head. "I am a man, and you are a woman. That is all that matters."

oOo

Darien sighed, the air puffing out through his nose.

Now he had met her in this time, had spoken to her, and found her to once again be the scout of the Moon. Only this time she didn't know him as the prince of Earth. She just knew him as the masked man that had helped her this night.

And the guy who made fun of her. He thought as he abruptly realized he was going to have to smooth things over between them after their earlier meeting that day. I know I'm going to see her again as a scout, but as a regular person I don't know when that is going to happen. Either way, when I do meet her again I'm going to make sure I get her name. He thought, wishing he had read it off that test paper.

Once I meet her I need to start on trying to get her to remember. He thought with a slight frown.

In the past his presence, talking to her, and showing her familiar places and locations hadn't had any effect on unlocking her true memories. He was unsure if gaining her affections alone was enough to trigger anything since she only told him of her feelings as he lay dying. However, he recalled deciding that he would meditate with his golden crystal to see if he could find a solution.

Might as well try that now. He thought as he brought his legs up and crossed them on the couch seat cushion and rested his hands on his knees as he closed his eyes.

Darien breathed deep and slow and focused on his crystal. Almost immediately a soothing warmth blossomed in his chest, and he smiled as he realized he had missed that particular warmth without even knowing what it was he was missing.

Please help me find a way to help my Serenity regain her true memories. He asked his crystal. It pulsed warmly and he continued to breath deeply and slowly as he concentrated on seeing if a solution would come to him.

He wasn't sure how much time had passed before his crystal pulsed warmly again and flashed the image of the white light that had changed everything in the past in his mind. Before he could think on it further images of his and Serenity's wedding planning came through his mind.

He waited a few more moments but his crystal was quiet and the warmth was gone, so he tried to put together the clues his crystal had given him.

The white light clearly meant the silver crystal was involved, and he fervently hoped he wouldn't need its power to free her memories. The images of his wedding planning could mean they needed to get married, but that would take entirely too long and he wasn't willing to wait for that so he tried to look at it from another angle.

Perhaps it means our past wedding or what was supposed to happen afterward. He considered thoughtfully. He and Serenity would have consummated their marriage, which in turn would have completed their soul bond.

Suddenly his crystal pulsed intensely inside him, and it let him understand instantly that that was what he was to know.

So our completed soul bond, and the silver crystal. He thought, and then frowned as it all clicked into placed.

He hadn't been able to unlock her memories in the past, and wouldn't in the present in their entirety, regardless of what he did because the lock on her memories was made by the power of the silver crystal. He was going to need their soul bond complete. He needed his connection to her as strong as possible and fully open to remove it.

And possibly my crystal. He thought, and paused as his crystal pulsed strongly. And definitely my crystal. He corrected himself and nodded as his crystal warmed inside him before it faded. Our soul bond complete and fully open, and the power of my golden crystal to unlock her memories.

Darien now knew what he needed to do to fix what had been done to her, but he knew their bond couldn't be cemented until he managed to get her to fall in love with him again. Clearly he was going to have to focus on gaining her affection again; not that he wasn't planning to already.

I'll court her once again, and use every advantage I can. He thought firmly, not wanting their courtship to take an unnecessarily long time. He would use his intelligence, his manners, his connection to her as his soulmate, his looks, his voice, and anything else that came to him.

Ah, but I am going to have to be careful. He thought with a sigh as he opened his eyes. He was going to be interacting with her as both the masked man she met tonight and as just Darien in his bid to gain her affections, so he was going to have to be careful not to make her feel like she was falling for two different guys.

Or at least try and make it happen quickly so I can tell her that I am the masked man. He thought and then blinked. Then again I could perhaps try to simply be her friend as the masked man and guide her to my real identity.

Darien nodded to himself; pleased with his plan. Now he simply had to come across her again, and he could get started on getting his soulmate back.

oOoIRoOo

Sailor Moon looked down through the window and spotted Luna standing on a counter before she looked back up to where the masked man had been. He was gone, which wasn't surprising since he had been leaving, and she scanned the area and saw him jumping from one rooftop to another at a fair distance.

I didn't even get his name. She thought disappointedly before she moved back to the window frame and made her way back inside the building; noticing with some surprise that it was easier going down then it had been to climb up for some reason.

Once she made it to the ground floor she quickly moved around the people who were regaining consciousness, and scooped up Luna before she dashed out the exit and began to run home.

"Who was that man?" Luna asked as she looked up from her position in her charges arms.

"I don't know. I didn't get his name before he left." Sailor Moon answered, unable to help remembering how tall he was or how deep his voice was.

"Why was he there?" She asked.

"He said he was there to help me." Sailor Moon said simply. Whether the cat thought he was there to help because she was the sole fighter or if he was going to help only her regardless of how many scouts came along was something she didn't feel the need to clarify; and she didn't particularly want to think about why that was.

When she reached her neighborhood she carefully ran and jumped rooftops until she landed on the roof of her house. She looked around thoroughly to make sure no neighbor was suddenly looking out their window, and seeing no one she dropped onto her balcony and stepped inside her bedroom.

It was empty and just as she left it, but she realized in that moment that she should've checked to see if anyone was there. She could've walked in to find herself facing one or both of her parents dressed as Sailor Moon. That wasn't something she needed right now.

She shook her head slightly and placed Luna on the bed before she flopped down on her back next to her, and sighed heavily as she stared up at the ceiling. She then placed her hand on her brooch and gripped it slightly as she focused on releasing her transformation. She thought it would be best in case someone came knocking or just barged into her room as her brother was sometimes prone to do.

She glowed softly before it brightened slightly then faded, leaving her in her school uniform holding the brooch to her chest. She lifted it and looked at it before she placed it on her pillow and looked back to the ceiling.

"So, how do you feel now that you've experienced your first fight?" Luna asked as she sat next to her.

"I'm in a bit of shock. I'm really, truly, a scout, and I've fought people and a monster." Serena said. "I've never had a fight in my entire life, never even faced a case of bullying, and now here I am having done so much fighting in one evening. I didn't even know I knew how to fight!"

"It is your instincts coming through." Luna said. "You were a scout, a soldier, in the past so you knew how to fight. Hopefully, as time passes more instincts will come as well as memories."

"Memories." Serena said as she looked to her. "You really think I'll remember this past you mentioned?"

"Yes." Luna said. "You and the other scouts. It would certainly help your fighting ability, and, more importantly, help find the princess."

Serena hummed thoughtfully and considered what that would be like, to remember her past life. They must have all lived on the Moon with the princess since they would have to be with her to protect her. Were they all born on separate planets? Did the other scouts originally come from the planet they were named after?

"Were we all born on the same planet and were just picked to represent other planets at random or were we born on the planet we're scouts of?" She asked.

"You were all born on the planet you were scouts of." Luna answered.

"Wow. So my past self was born and lived on the Moon." Serena said wonderingly. I wonder what that was like. She thought as she tried to imagine it from the pictures she had seen of the surface of the Moon. There must have been buildings, but she couldn't imagine what they could have looked like. Then there was the general question of how they had lived there when there was no oxygen there.

"Do you remember what the princess was like?" She asked, deciding to move on to a different subject.

"Yes. She was a soft spoken, kind, shy girl, but she had a personality where when it came to her role as a princess she could speak to other royals, dignitaries, lords, and ladies with ease. The shyness nowhere to be seen." Luna answered, and Serena hummed thoughtfully.

"What about you? What's your role in all of this? What did you do in the past, and what are you supposed to do now?" She asked curiously.

"In the past I was an advisor to the Queen, so I was obviously very close to her and was aware of what was going on with the princess and her guardians." Luna explained. "Now I am to be a guider to the Scouts, and guardian and advisor to the princess once she is found."

"Were you the Queen's only advisor?" Serena asked.

"I don't quite remember, but I have the impression that there was another." She answered thoughtfully.

"I guess we'll have to keep an eye out." Serena said. "This possible other advisor might also be looking for the princess and scouts, so we might come across them." She added thoughtfully, and Luna nodded.

"Well, do you remember what the other scouts were like?" Serena asked.

"I recall simple things. Like how Mercury was studious, Jupiter enjoyed cooking and baking, Mars liked to meditate a lot, and Venus was serious yet a romantic at heart." Luna said. "I even recall that you liked to read and enjoyed nature. I remember seeing you in gardens a lot."

Serena blinked in surprise and nodded. She was fairly good in school but she wasn't much of a reader, and she didn't know about hanging out in gardens but she did like being outside and in nature.

She sighed, unable to think of anything else to ask, and decided she needed a break from what had happened since Luna had suddenly showed up. She sat up and moved the brooch from her pillow to her nightstand and got up. She changed quickly into her pajamas and sat at her floor desk and began to pull out her homework. After a few moments thought she decided to pull out the wrinkled test as well.

She looked over the test, ignoring the fact that Luna was watching her, and pulled out some paper and a pencil and began to redo the questions she had failed or blanked on.

Almost an hour later a knock sounded on her door. She lifted her head and looked sharply to Luna and gestured with her head for her to get off her bed, and therefore out of sight, before she called out to whoever was knocking. Her mother opened the door and informed her that dinner was ready.

Serena said okay and she followed her mother down to the dining room where she had dinner with her family.

When she finished she put her dishes in the sink and went back up to her room, and back to her homework. When she finished she put her books and homework away and made sure her school bag was ready for her to grab in the morning.

She then went and bid her parents a goodnight before she returned to her room and closed the door. She took her hair down from the bun style she had it in and left it loose as she climbed into bed. She turned off the lights, bid Luna goodnight, and lay down and relaxed as she waited for sleep to come.

Sailor Earth and Prince Endymion rode their horses almost side by side as they ran down a wide dirt road with numerous tall trees on either side to show that it wound through a forest. His horse was a dark brown male from his head to his hooves while hers was a white female with black stockings on the lower part of all four of her legs.

They turned off suddenly onto a smaller walking path, that though small, was wide enough for their horses to continue running. Endymion was in the lead and Sailor Earth was right behind him. His dark hair blowing around his head and dark cape fluttering behind him just as her light hair and cape were flowing out behind her like billowing flags.

Sailor Earth laughed happily as the trees whizzed by as they passed. It was so exhilarating and fun. She knew neither one of them needed a horse to get around, but this way of traveling was thrilling, more fun, and simply made sense.

"There is a tree down in the path!" Endymion called back suddenly.

Sailor Earth watched him and his horse jump over a rather large tree and she shifted her weight and moved with her horse as she jumped over the tree and continued onward.

The path opened up into a large clearing and they continued to run through it, reaching the other side where the path continued back into the trees. After a few minutes the path opened up again and curved off to the left out of the trees.

Endymion slowed as he turned to the right, and she slowed as well until they stopped. That's when she saw that they were at a stream with a wide shore, and that the path was angled along it.

She got off her horse and saw that the path led to a stone bridge across the stream and continued on back into the trees. She walked her horse over to the stream next to Endymion's horse and adjusted the lead so it wouldn't hang in the water.

Suddenly she was picked up around her waist and she cried out slightly as she was pulled away from her horse and spun around and around and around.

"Endy!" She called out, and laughed as she gripped his arm at her waist.

He eventually slowed to a stop and put her back on her feet. She giggled as she leaned back against him and rested in his arms as she regained her balance. Then she turned in his arms and placed her hands on his shoulders as she looked up into his glowing gold eyes and smirking face.

She pushed up on her toes despite the high heeled boots she was wearing and brought her lips to his as he leaned down.

oOo

"Endymion!" She cried out and hurried toward him, quickly dropping to her knees at his side as she placed a hand on his shoulder and grabbed his hand with the other.

"Why?! Why did you do this?" She asked, angry and sad. "It is my duty to protect my princess!"

"No. It is not your duty and never has been." Endymion said weakly. "You were never supposed to be Sailor Moon. Your destiny was taken from you."

"I do not understand." Sailor Moon said in confusion.

This man had just saved her life, taking a clearly mortal wound for her, and it was clear from his words that he did it for her and not her princess. She had already admitted to herself that she loved him, but seeing him so hurt and knowing he was dying shattered something deep inside her.

They heard a scream and she looked up to see her princess being attacked by an earth soldier. She moved to get up but looked back to Endymion as she felt him squeeze her hand.

Sailor Moon looked frantically between Endymion and her barely struggling princess. She knew she needed to protect her, but her body was already settling back at his side and it made her abruptly aware that his life was more important to her then her princess' was.

"I do not want you to die. You cannot die. I love you too much for you to leave me." She said sadly as she gently ran her fingers through his hair.

"I love you as well my Serenity. I will find you again, and you will remember what we had." He said quietly.

oOoIRoOo

A tall woman stood before a massive doorway in a dark area surrounded in thin fog that thickened the further out it went. She stood at attention with her staff in hand, her long hair just brushing the back of her knees, and her wise eyes watchful.

Suddenly her head turned and she stared off into the fog having been instinctively alerted to a change in one of the timelines; the timeline she had been particularly watching since the Silver Millennium ended; the desired timeline.

Her red eyes glowed a smoky gray as her power directed her vision into the timeline, narrowing her focus down to what had triggered her awareness, until she saw a girl with long golden blonde hair up in a unique yet familiar style in a bedroom with bright pink light flowing around her until she was surrounded.

Ah! She thought quietly as she realized what she was witnessing. She was seeing the awakening of a scout she had been searching for, and now that she knew where she was she understood that it was time for her to keep watch, and be ready for when she needed to act.

The transformation finished and she watched her look herself over in surprise. She narrowed her eyes slightly to widen her view and hummed as she spotted a black cat on the girl's bed.

That explains how she was awakened. She thought as she watched the girls expression shift from surprise to alarm to determined before she ran from the room through her balcony doors.

She followed her progress, uncaring about the feline following her, until she reached a building and entered and began to confront the creature within. She watched the ensuing proceedings with a critical and watchful eye, holding all her thoughts until after the fight was over.

However, she couldn't help being surprised when the masked man appeared, and decided instantly to keep a watch on him as well to understand who he was since she knew he did not exist during the Silver Millennium.
