Imperfect Reincarnation
Chapter Five

Molly Baker sat on a bench in the courtyard at school during lunch as her best friend stood slightly off to the side dancing lightly as they ate their lunch. She hadn't paid particular attention to her, but as her friend she had been watching her over the last couple of months and couldn't help noticing that she was different.

Serena had always been a cheerful outgoing person, but these last few months Molly had noticed that she was smiling more often than usual and was happier. It was nice to see, her friend deserved happiness as much as anyone else, but her curiosity was finally getting the better of her after watching her happiness develop.

What is going on with her? She wondered.

"Alright Serena." Molly said in a slightly no nonsense yet eager tone, catching her friends attention. "What's going on with you? I haven't said anything, but I've watched you grow happier and smile more over last couple of months and my curiosity is all but eating at me!"

Serena blushed and stalled by taking a sip of her drink before she smiled, and then grinned helplessly as she plopped down on the bench next to her friend.

"What's going on is that I have a boyfriend." She revealed, and her friend gasped.

"What?! A boyfriend? And you didn't tell me!" Molly cried.

"I'm sorry!" Serena said as she grabbed her hand. "I just wasn't ready to share him yet. It's been nice just getting to know him without anyone trying to see us together or question me." She admitted, and her friend sighed.

"It's okay. I understand." Molly said as she squeezed her hand. "Tell me about him. What's his name? How old is he? What does he look like?" She asked rapidly.

"His name is Darien Shields, and he's twenty-one." Serena said. "He's tall, with short black hair, and deep blue eyes. He's the definition of tall, dark, and handsome." She described with a sigh.

"How did you guys meet?" Molly asked.

"Do you remember the day you were saved by Sailor Moon?" Serena asked, and Molly nodded. "Well, I met him that day after I left your mom's store. I threw my test paper in his face, although I didn't realize he was behind me, and he made fun of my test score and my hair." She explained with a slightly embarrassed blush.

"The next day after school I went to the Crown cafe and he was there. This jerk guy I never thought I would see again. He apologized to me and asked if we could start over. I apologized in return and agreed to start over, and we've been seeing each other ever since." She said.

"We hangout nearly every day and talk on the phone when we get home after that. We've been on numerous outings, little dates, and a couple of bigger dates getting to know each other and learning all we can." Serena admitted.

"He's a university student, studying to be a doctor, and he lives alone in a really nice apartment." She revealed before she sighed. "He's so nice. A complete gentleman, and so very considerate. I've never felt so cared for, and like I was the only girl he could see. I mean he's made it clear from day one that he thought I was good looking and attractive, but he hasn't tried to do anything that would make me uncomfortable."

"He's taking things slow." Molly said quietly as she nodded.

"Yeah." Serena said as she nodded in return.

"So he's made his attraction for you known, but wants you to know that he sees more in you than your beauty." She said knowingly.

"Yeah." Serena agreed with a blush. He's so considerate, and caring! She squealed internally.

"He sounds really nice, and good for you." Molly said, and watched her friend blush deeper. "So, what's happened recently? You seem to be almost glowing today."

"Oh! Well, we went on a date this pass weekend; rock climbing, it was so much fun." Serena said with a smile, but before she could continue a scene suddenly began to play through her mind.

oOo

Serenity and Endymion walked hand in hand through the trees of the forest they were walking through dressed simply yet comfortably for their outing.

The day was sunny yet cool so they were both attired in their capes. Endymion wore his usual black cape with a red inner lining, and Serenity in her navy blue cape with a green inner lining. Both capes were secured with pendants of the Earth's planetary symbols.

As they walked the ground began to slope upward and they easily followed it, not at all bothered by the workout they were getting as it was expected when they started this adventure. They passed downed tree branches, thick bushes, and large rocks as they continued up their path.

Suddenly they stopped as they came upon a massive rectangular moss covered rock that was nearly hidden by tall vibrant green grass.

Serenity looked around and saw that going either left or right of the massive rock would mean an even more difficult climb, and it would take them away from the direction they were headed in.

"What do you think?" Endymion asked.

"We should try climbing over this if we do not wish to turn back and find another direction." She answered as she looked up at him.

"Hmm...I shall go first." He decided as he looked to the rock.

Serenity nodded and released his hand as she took a few steps back.

Endymion took a few steps to his left and wedged his foot into the fork of a thick tree trunk and stretched his tall frame up until he reached the overhanging branch and grabbed on. He then pulled himself up and planted his booted foot on the edge of the rock, careful to not slip on the moss, and pulled and pushed himself until he was kneeling on top of the rock.

She watched as he carefully turned around and reached a hand down to her. She stepped forward and grabbed his hand then the other as he lowered it to her, and carefully climbed the wall as he lifted her up.

As she reached the top and knelt next to him she smiled which he easily returned. They both knew they could have easily jumped up onto that massive rock, but this was to be an outing without the use of their innate abilities.

Serenity kissed Endymion on his cheek before they got to their feet, resumed holding hands, and continued on their way.

oOo

Serena blinked; completely surprised by the memory snippet. She had dreamed of a few more memories that switched from Sailor Moon one night and Sailor Earth another. Although, this was the first time she had seen the Earth scout when she wasn't transformed.

She had worn black pants, a white shirt that looked like a tunic, brown tall boots, and her hair had been pulled back into a long braid that hung down pass her lower back like a thick rope.

It was definitely a more casual and relaxed look from her sailor uniform.

Now that a few moments had passed she found herself surprised that she had seen the memory at all considering the time of day. She had thought she would only remember them while she was asleep.

I don't know why I thought that. I guess it's just because that's how it's been so far. She thought idly.

Still, the memory snippet left her confused and uncertain of the one constant between the two scouts of the Moon and Earth; Endymion.

He too had been dressed differently than she was used to seeing in her memory dreams. He had been dressed just like Sailor Earth except his boots were black. He and Sailor Earth had looked very comfortable together, holding hands and kissing, but the behavior was similar with him and Sailor Moon. Although, with the Moon scout it was toned down.

Even though she remembered more details of the guy, Endymion, who may or may not be more than one person, a true prince at that, she was not unaware that there was another portion of her dreams that she didn't remember at all.

And she was starting to see the pattern. Every time she woke from those memory dreams she was sad, and knew for sure that there was something she wasn't remembering.

The fact that she didn't feel that sadness now meant that it was something that she was only seeing while she was asleep.

Is it important? She wondered. It likely is since something is preventing me from remembering.

"Serena." Molly called, drawing her attention. "Are you okay? You kind of spaced out."

"I'm fine; just remembering the date and how much fun it was." Serena assured her before she shook her head. Think about the memories later. She told herself.

"Anyway, he asked me to officially be his girlfriend, so I'm still excited about it. I have a boyfriend!" She almost squealed in her happiness, but her friend did squeal.

"Congratulations!' Molly said happily. "I want to meet him!" She added quickly.

"I'll tell him today." Serena said as she nodded. "I would actually just take you to meet him, but he isn't used to me arriving to meet him with company, and sometimes he already has plans for us as soon as I arrive."

"That's okay. I have no problem waiting." Molly assured her, and Serena nodded.

"It won't be long. You'll probably meet him tomorrow." She said optimistically.

oOoIRoOo

In the dark fog covered surroundings of her post the tall red eyed woman stood at attention before a massive doorway. For over two months she had been watching the reincarnation of Serenity as well as the young man, Darien, that had been keeping close to her since she was not exactly sure who he could be.

However, now she knew that he had indeed been in the past alongside Serenity as the heir to the throne of the Earth; Prince Endymion. Even better was the discovery that he remembered his past, which clearly included his affection and romance with Serenity.

With this knowledge in mind, knowing for sure Darien's identity, she decided it was time to start bringing in more players.

Over the many passing years she had found the reincarnations of all the key players except for Sailor Moon. For some reason she had been unable to find her nor had she found the Earth Prince.

However, they had now been located. More importantly she had found them all in one of the timelines, the desired timeline she had been watching over, and simply traced their lives backward so she could watch over them from a young age.

Now it is time to awaken two of them since the felines will not find them. She thought calmly. She knew for a fact that the only reason the felines would find the others was because they were all in one area.

So she would have to awaken them herself because they were in the target timeline, the desired timeline, that she had seen. Each of the timelines were similar to one another, but only one would lead to a new Silver Millennium. This one centered around the Earth. And that one wouldn't happen if everyone wasn't there and didn't make the correct choices.

And everyone includes two of my fellow lesser known scouts. She acknowledged as she turned her focus toward the two in question.

It even included one that most would be surprised to see, but not her. She had lived a very long time and seen a great many things and it didn't surprise her. She was simply curious how it would come to be considering the scouts specialty.

Now, how to go about this without compromising my post here. She considered thoughtfully.

She couldn't be away from the gates for long so she decided to create two temporary doorways that would appear in each of the scouts homes right in front of them and pull them in to her domain.

Nodding lightly to herself she lifted her staff, her eyes glowing a smoky gray as she tapped into her power, and began to proceed with her plan.

Two nineteen year old young women moved around their apartments early one evening going about their business as was their habit. One was tall with short pale tan hair and grayish blue eyes, and the other was of medium height with wavy teal hair just past her shoulders and deep blue eyes.

All was quiet and normal when suddenly both were surprised when an elaborate white marble door suddenly appeared in front of them as they were walking through their apartments. The two young women didn't even have time to jump back in shock before the doors opened inward, and they were pulled off their feet and through the doorway by an invisible force.

They landed with surprised cries in a dark empty space away from the gates but not far; not that either of them would know it was close.

They climbed to their feet and stood confused and a bit frightened as they finally spotted each other, but before they could say a word they saw a woman walking toward them seemingly appearing out of the darkness around them.

She had vibrant red eyes, and long dark green hair, half pulled back into a high bun, and the rest flowing down brushing the back of her knees.

She wore a white bodysuit with a black collar, a black miniskirt, and black knee-high high heel boots with a white border at the triangular top. On her chest and lower back were maroon bows, and she wore white gloves that stretched up her forearms just beneath her elbows with black borders.

On her forehead was a gold tiara with a garnet colored gem, in her ears were matching colored big downward-pointed arrow shaped earrings, and around her neck was a black choker with a garnet colored gem attached.

Around her waist she wore a silver chain with four silver keys attached to it, and held in one hand was a tall silver staff almost in the shape of a key.

"Amara Tenou, Michelle Kaiou. I am Sailor Pluto." She said as she came to a stop a few steps away from them. "It is time you both remember who you are." She announced before she lifted her key shaped staff slightly into the air in front of her.

The top of it flashed brightly and two softly glowing objects appeared. A blue and silver sword and an aqua and gold colored hand mirror.

"These will unlock your memories." Sailor Pluto revealed as each item floated toward the women.

The two young women looked at each other, thoroughly surprised and confused, and certainly not knowing what to think. One moment they were at home alone minding their own business, and the next they were in a strange place being spoken to by an equally strange woman about memories and being faced with a glowing object.

Still, they returned their eyes to the glowing objects, and after a few moments of hesitation they reached for them. Amara grasped the sword and Michelle grasped the mirror, somehow feeling that they were familiar and belonged to them, and instantly their bodies began to glow a soft white.

After a few moments the glow around Michelle turned an aqua teal and the glow around Amara turned a navy blue. Their eyes closed as the glow brightened, but just as quickly their eyelids began to flutter rapidly as, true to Sailor Pluto's words, unknown memories began to reveal themselves.

A lifetime of memories began to flood their mind. A childhood on Uranus and Neptune, schooling, training, floating castles, royalty, and duties. They were sailor scouts. Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune respectively.

They recalled being chosen by the Queen of the Moon to protect the solar system from outside threats. That was their duty; they did the protecting. Just as Sailor Pluto was at the Gates of Time guarding the timelines, and Sailor Saturn slept in her floating castle until she was called to reset a planet or solar system's evolution.

As such, unlike the Sailor Scout Guardians to the Moon Princess, they were loyal to the Moon Queen alone.

Amara and Michelle, newly awakened Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, opened their eyes as the glow around them faded away and looked at their fellow scout whom they now fully recognized.

"Circumstances are changing." Sailor Pluto stated once she had their attention. "The evil that led to the end of the Silver Millennium has been awakened. The Guardian Scouts are being awakened as a result, and are beginning to look for the reincarnation of the Moon Princess."

"You have the choice not to be sailor scouts this time around. However, if you choose to once again take up that duty then you are going to have to make a choice. The Moon Princess or Sailor Earth. I myself have already made my choice." She explained seriously.

"If you choose to continue as scouts then you will be able to go out and see the situation as it currently stands for yourselves." She further explained. "Currently the Moon Princess has yet to be found, but Sailor Moon has been awakened."

Michelle and Amara nodded seriously at Pluto's words as they both knew that Sailor Moon was actually Sailor Earth, and had been changed in the past to be the scout of the Moon by the Moon Princess' actions.

"Why is Sailor Earth a choice?" Amara asked, and Michelle nodded. They had known of her in the past, but had not met her personally. They wondered what made her so special. The Moon Princess had only had guardians because she was next in line to wield the silver crystal and needed the protection.

"Sailor Earth is a scout to be feared." Sailor Pluto told them seriously. "Her powers are such that she can take on multiple enemies of varied nature, both human and inhuman, and her powers are not even complete. Once she joins with her soulmate the remainder of her power will be unlocked."

"In addition to that the new Silver Millennium will only prosper with her and her soulmate at the center." She added.

"Who is her soulmate?" Michelle asked.

"The Earth Prince." Sailor Pluto answered.

Amara and Michelle were surprised by this piece of news. They had heard the two were engaged to be married, but had not known they were soulmates.

"And he has regained his memories somehow." She informed them. "He is in the process of getting close to her as a civilian and as a scout."

"What of the Moon Princess?" Amara asked after a few moments of thoughtful silence.

"Yes." Michelle agreed. "Will she not be an obstacle toward that end? Her and the silver crystal?" She asked; both young women remembered what happened in the past and what the girl had caused.

"In some timelines there is a Moon Kingdom once again, but in those timelines the Silver Millennium either has constant strife of some sort or it does not last. In other timelines the princess is around on the Earth with the silver crystal and causes trouble." Sailor Pluto explained.

"In the timeline where all prospers she is not present as far as I can see, and I cannot tell what happened to her or where she is." She informed them.

"Either way, another Silver Millennium will never exist around the Moon Kingdom again. The last full blooded heir showed that she was clearly not up to the task." Sailor Pluto told them seriously.

"Admittedly, some would likely think she should be given another chance; she was young and didn't know what she was doing. And they would be right, but she knew what she had wanted and the fact that she even tried what she did is all the proof I need to know to never align myself with the girl regardless of the silver crystal." She explained before she shook her head lightly.

"If she does not get what she wants she abuses the power she has in order to try and obtain it, and we all saw how that turned out." She finished, her eyes flashing a smoky gray with her powers as she recalled watching the tragedy.

Amara and Michelle exchanged a long look as they too recalled the changes that had been made. The changes to their lives in the past had been practically nonexistent, but they had overheard rumors and then had heard all about the changes from the Moon Queen once it was established that they had not been effected as practically the entire solar system had been.

They had felt sorry for the Earth Prince and especially for Sailor Earth even though they had never met her. Her entire life had been changed dramatically, and for the worse as far as they were concerned, and she'd had no idea.

She had been living her life on the Moon as if she had been born and raised there. She had no idea she had been forcefully removed from her home, her duty on the Earth, and from a man who loved her. Had no idea she had been changed from the protector of a planet to a guardian to a self-absorbed princess.

Still, this was a different time, and they had decisions to make. Right away Amara and Michelle both decided silently that they would in fact be scouts again. Remembering who they were reminded them that it was simply who they were, and that they had enjoyed being those scouts and doing their duty.

So there was no question they would continue on in this life. What they needed to do now was make a decision on if they were going to be loyal to this supposedly powerful scout they had never met, because there was no choice to be made between Sailor Earth and the Moon Princess.

Like Sailor Pluto they too were not going to take a chance with the princess. There was no residual loyalty to her from the past since they had not been one of her guardians, and though in this time they would be dealing with her reincarnation there was the chance that she had the same personality and attitude or something similar.

Neither of them wanted to have anything to do with her, and they both understood exactly what that meant and what it could very well lead to.

Amara nodded to Michelle, and they both turned to their fellow scout.

"We will be scouts again, however, we want to see the situation with Sailor Moon before we make any further decisions." Michelle announced firmly.

"Very well." Sailor Pluto said with a slight nod before she gestured to the doors they had originally come through. "When you are ready to leave simply walk through the doors. I'll be in contact with you both." She added before she turned and walked off into the darkness.

oOoIRoOo

Darien sat in his apartment relaxing and idly stared at his TV after parting ways from Serena for the day.

His relationship with his soulmate was going very well. She was now his girlfriend, and he had just met her best friend, Molly, today.

He had heard so much about her, and now that he had actually spoken to her he liked her. She was soft spoken and sensible, but he was sure she could be loud and outspoken if need be, and best of all she was clearly loyal to his soulmate.

In his opinion Molly seemed to approve of him, which he figured was just one more aspect to getting closer to his soulmate and fitting into her life. Now he just needed to meet her other friends. The ones she had spoken of when they were first getting to know each other.

Those meetings would obviously have to be planned since they went to different schools than her, but it wasn't something he minded. He was curious to know the people his soulmate surrounded herself with.

They had yet to share their first kiss, but he wasn't too concerned about it. He would make the moment right for it, but in the meantime he would continue to court her.

Holding hands and receiving kisses on the cheek were good enough for now, because he knew once he experienced her kiss he would be unable to stop from kissing her again and again. There was no image or reputation to uphold in this life, so he would be able to kiss her at any time; whenever he wanted.

The next step is making her my fiancée once again. He thought, but reconsidered in the next moment. Actually the next step is for the truth about each of us to be revealed.

She needed to know all of who he was; that he was the masked man she had dubbed Tuxedo Mask, that he was prince of the Earth, and that he was her soulmate. She needed to know about herself. That she was actually Sailor Earth and his soulmate.

Then I can make her my fiancée. He thought firmly. However, until then we must continue on as we have been; courting and secretly fighting monsters.

In terms of that he thought his soulmate was still doing well given she was the scout of the Moon, a weakened scout, but he was also frustrated that she was weak. He knew she could be better if only she remembered her true self.

He had mentioned training to her, had freely offered to help her, but she had yet to take him up on that offer.

Darien could understand why though. Between fighting monsters and spending time with him after school and on dates she was going to have to try and find some time without giving up anything. He knew that she enjoyed the time they spent together, and he certainly agreed. He wouldn't trade that time for anything.

Still, he consoled himself with the fact that he knew she would eventually start to train since she was frustrated by her own weakness as well. Having only a piece of jewelry to rely on would do that to a person; even if it had some power backing it.

Of course he was also limited to his roses, but that was by choice. It was frustrating, but still his choice.

He didn't want to use anything more in case the other scouts, when they were awakened, remembered some of the past or all of it and became suspicious of who he truly was. He didn't want his identity known until his Serenity knew.

Darien sighed. He could hardly wait for that time. When he no longer had to limit himself, when his soulmate knew who she truly was. She would be glorious; especially when she was no longer being held back.

Thinking of that brought to mind when she had first come into her powers. He fully admitted that it had been a confusing and frightening experience.

oOo

Endymion walked down the hallway of the royal wing late in the evening. He wanted to check on Serenity before heading to bed since she had been sick with a cold for a few days.

She had been feeling particularly bad that day and hadn't wanted to leave her bed let alone her room, so he wanted to make sure she was resting as comfortably as she could and didn't need anything.

He slowed to a stop in front of her bedroom door and knocked. He idly looked down the hallway as he waited, but returned his eyes to the door when there was no answer. He considered knocking again, but didn't want to wake her if she was asleep.

With a light shrug he turned the handle and opened the door without hesitation, still wanting to see her and not at all worried about seeing something he shouldn't since they were both comfortable and used to going in and out of each other's rooms.

To his absolute shock his eyes landed on the flickering fire light that was coming from Serenity's bed, and then he panicked as he saw her still lying in the middle of her bed not moving.

Endymion didn't know if she was still asleep or unconscious, and definitely didn't know where the fire had come from, but he hurried into the room and toward her bed.

"Serenity! Serenity!" He called as he snatched a throw blanket from the end of the bed that wasn't on fire and tried to put out the flames.

He wasn't having any luck and Serenity wasn't answering or moving, so he decided to brave the flames and just grab her.

He carefully pulled the lit covers back away from her, letting out a breath of relief that the fire was not under the covers with her, and picked her limp form up and quickly moved out of the room.

"Fire! Fire!" He called out loudly once he was in the hallway, and watched as people started quickly pouring out of doorways and running down the hallway toward him.

He looked down at his soulmate, still in his arms, and couldn't help the worry filling him that she still had not awakened despite the chaos around her.

oOo

He smiled despite the remembered fear. She had eventually awakened and later on they had learned that her illness and the fire was her powers beginning to manifest themselves.

Although, why could it not have been water or wind. He considered as he shook his head slightly. They both likely would have been just as destructive without her control. He told himself as he switched his TV to a news channel.

Still, Serenity had learned that control and she had been glorious and such a joy to watch. He couldn't wait until she could use her powers again. Would she have to learn her control again or would she already have it when she remembered?

He didn't know, but either way he would be there to help just as he had before. She had even had his Generals to help her. Whether it was to give ideas, encouragement, or as volunteer targets.

Darien sighed at the thought of his Generals. Any thought of them always reminded him of what happened to them, which was also true of seeing them as he had only days ago.

Seeing Zoycite and knowing he was part of the group sending out the monsters had been surprising. Clearly his general's reincarnation had been found and turned to their side; had once again been corrupted.

How long have they had him? Weeks, months, years?! He considered with a frown. How old is he? Does he have a family out there looking for him?

He knew that corrupted group, that organization, was something he was going to have to deal with eventually. They could not be allowed to continue to attack people the way they were, and he especially had not forgotten about Beryl or that entity that had been responsible for his death in the past.

But my Serenity and getting her to remember me comes first. We are a pair, and we will protect our planet together. He thought firmly.

Before his thoughts could continue he sensed the familiar ache in his head that signaled his soulmate had transformed.

Darien pushed himself up to his feet and transformed in a bright golden light with nothing more than a thought into the masked persona his soulmate had affectionately coined Tuxedo Mask. He walked over to his balcony door and opened it before he stepped out and began to make his way down the building and follow his internal connection to his soulmate.

oOoIRoOo

Darien arrived outside of a building, the glowing sign indicating that it was a night club, and flicked his dripping hair away from his eyes.

To his displeasure it had started raining while he was in route, so he'd had to be extra careful not to slip and fall as he ran. Now he was here and his senses were telling him that she was under the building he was staring at.

I need to find out exactly where she is before I go in. I cannot go running in blindly or I risk getting attacked and will be no help to her. He thought as he knelt on the ground in the alleyway he was standing in.

He touched the ground to tap into his connection to the Earth in order to see the area his soulmate was in. Although, he knew that if he practiced he would be able to do it without touching the ground; he would simply focus his mind on what he wanted and it would happen.

I will have to make it a priority since doing it that way will be quicker and leave me less vulnerable. He thought before he closed his eyes and focused.

Scenes around the Earth quickly flashed through his mind and he frowned as he narrowed his focus down to the city and area he was in. Once there he focused on the area beneath the building his soulmate was in, and the scene appeared clearly in his mind showing him a large basement parking garage.

She was of course transformed and there were two others with her. A man in a white long sleeve dress shirt, black dress pants with matching suspenders, and a woman in a purple wrap top with black tights and long wavy red hair down her back. The man lay unconscious on the ground behind her and the woman stood a few feet away in front of her.

However, before he could release his connection the scene widened to show further away, standing off to the side concealed behind rectangular concrete pillars were two scouts. One wore white and navy blue and the other wore white and aqua teal.

He had never seen them in the past but he strongly believed, from the colors they wore, that they were the scouts of Uranus and Neptune. He was surprised to see them there and briefly wondered how they had been awakened, but decided to ignore their presence since he saw and sensed no threat. They appeared to simply be observing the scene.

He went ahead and released his connection to the Earth and opened his eyes as he stood up. He looked toward the opening to the underground garage before he dashed toward it, across the street, and disappeared inside.

He immediately noticed that the garage was not as well-lit as it could be, but he ignore that fact as he hurried on toward his soulmate. He found her quickly and slowed so he wasn't heard as he began to subtly make his way around the pillars so he could get behind the woman without being seen.

Clearly she was the monster if his Serenity was transformed and facing her, so he wanted to do what he could to distract the monster. Actually, he wanted to agitate it and make it take its true form, so they could fight it truly and defeat it quickly.

Although, we will have to lure it away from that man. He thought as he glanced at the unconscious man.

Still, he wondered what the monster truly looked like and what it could do. Would they be able to defeat it with just his roses and her tiara? He didn't know. They likely could, but not quickly enough for his liking.

We will have to try to keep it from running away and out into the rain. He thought as he continued to make his way toward the scene.

The last thing he wanted was to fight in the rain. It would be a different matter if he could use all of his abilities, and especially if his connection to the Earth was more solid. As it was he was going to have to work on widening the connection and immersing himself in it to get back to what it was in the past. That way he could control the weather.

But back to the matter at hand; perhaps I can make my roses stronger. He considered thoughtfully.

He would have to try, but the fact that he didn't know meant he himself needed to start his training. The only issue with that was that, like his soulmate, he needed to find the time. Without her with him as Sailor Moon meant he would have to miss out on spending time with her as just Serena, and he refused to cut into any time that could be used to be around her.

This is important. I will find the time. Even if I must train in the middle of the night. He thought seriously as he pulled out a rose.

He stopped a few feet behind the monster, glad that his soulmate had not looked his way and given his position away, and launched his rose before he pulled out another and threw it right behind the first.

Sailor Moon blinked as she saw Tuxedo Mask in her front peripheral vision, but made sure she didn't shift her eyes toward him. She was glad he had shown up when he did. Usually she waited for him to arrive, even if it was only circumstances that caused her to wait, but this time the monster had gone after the man lying unconscious behind her. She'd had no choice since she didn't want to watch the man die.

Since then she had been in a sort of standoff with the monster since she couldn't move around to attack or avoid attacks without leaving the man free to be attacked.

Now that Tuxedo Mask was here she thought she would be able to get the monster away from the man, and be able to fight the monster properly.

She pulled off her tiara, hoping to keep the monster's attention on her as she saw Tuxedo Mask throw a rose toward its back, and charged it up until it was a glowing white disk hovering above her fingertips.

The monster cried out in pain as the rose pierced her back, and she turned to see what or who had attacked her when the second exploded against her side. She screamed and stumbled from the small blast and pain as she caught a glimpse of a man in a black tuxedo.

Sailor Moon quickly threw her tiara at the monster now that it was distracted, hoping to finish it quickly and end this fight before it could really get started.

The tiara sped through the air before it slammed into the disguised monster's side causing it to scream in clear pain. The scream, however, did not gradually taper off and stop, but continued on and began to echo and rise in pitch.

Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon covered their ears to try and block the high pitch scream as they watched the woman begin to glow an eerie red as little black bats seemed to come out of nowhere and flutter around her body. The red glow grew brighter and brighter as the fluttering bats circled around her faster and faster.

Suddenly they squinted their eyes, nearly closing them, when the red glow flashed brightly and the bats scattered. When they could see properly they also found that the screaming had stopped, leaving their ears ringing in the silence. The monster, no longer disguised, stood there glaring as it looked back and forth between them.

It had green-tinted skin, purple markings around its eyes, long red wavy hair, easily visible white fangs, and the general appearance of a female humanoid bat. It had large bat ears and larger wings, sharp bright red nails, and its arms and legs were covered in black fur. It also wore a red bodysuit with a pink wrap over it to cover its figure.

Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask kept their eyes on the monster and prepared themselves for the fight to come.

Amara and Michelle stood concealed and transformed as Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune in the underground parking garage having slipped in not long after Sailor Moon.

Since being awakened to their true identity they had spent much time together getting to know each other, training, and using Michelle's mirror to keep an eye on the reincarnation of Sailor Earth.

They had only been watching for a few days, and so far they saw that she was a nice unassuming young woman. She spent time with her friends at school and sometimes afterward, but mostly she spent time with the young man they assumed was the reincarnation of the Earth Prince.

They appeared to be close and happy together, and the newly awakened scouts wondered how long they had known each other. They would have to ask Pluto when they saw her next.

Now they were watching the first monster attack to take place since they were awakened, having been alerted by Michelle's mirror, and they were paying particular attention to Sailor Moon.

So far she had done well to hold the disguised monster off and protect the unconscious man; especially since she appeared to not have anything to use against the monster except her body.

That couldn't be right. She had to have more to use against this monster, and all the monsters she had and would face in time. Perhaps her abilities would be revealed the longer the fight went on. That had to be it. They would continue to watch and see what they could see.

What was revealed as they watched was that she had good reaction time, being able to redirect the monster's sharp fingernails when they extended across the few feet that separated them. That was impressive since if she was off even by a moment or flinched at the approach she would have been impaled.

Michelle summoned her mirror and subtly held it up in the direction of Sailor Moon, the reflecting glass facing away from the unaware scout, and as they looked at the Moon scout's reflected image they saw a figure form behind her in the mirror. It took only moments to solidify into a female scout, dressed differently than Sailor Moon, with her long hair hanging loose down her back.

What they really took note of was the fact that her eyes were closed, as if she were sleeping, and she was surrounded in a muted white light. Michelle looked to Amara who returned her look with a slight frown. The truth mirror revealing that Sailor Earth was there inside, but clearly unaware.

Michelle silently wondered if the light surrounding Sailor Earth was the power of the silver crystal keeping the scout locked inside.

The standoff continued in tense silence as the scout of Neptune put her mirror away, the monster obviously frustrated by her inability to hurt Sailor Moon or get to the man she protected, when they both spotted a masked man's subtle and silent approach.

Michelle and Amara exchanged a look as they wondered if that was the Earth Prince. Pluto had said he was in the process of getting close to Sailor Earth both as a civilian and a scout. If this was truly him then it appeared this was his way of doing so.

They watched as he attacked the monster gaining her attention, and Sailor Moon follow up once the monster was distracted revealing that she could use her tiara as a weapon. They found that interesting, and wondered if she had been able to use it as Sailor Earth.

Then they found themselves covering their ears as the monster released a high pitched scream before revealing her true form. She certainly looked like a monster now, and they watched closely, careful to remain hidden, to see how the fight would proceed next.

The monster stretched her arms out to her sides and extended her nails, sending her claws speeding toward Sailor Moon and the masked man.

Sailor Moon grabbed her tiara, since it was conveniently hovering in the air above her, and used it to cut the monster's claws as she dodged to the side as they came at her instead of throwing her tiara at it.

The two watchers were further impressed by her reaction time with that move. To do what she did took a lot of practice or instinct, highly likely both. For her to do it at this stage, newly awakened scout with likely little to no training, she was likely reacting off of instinct.

Either she was that good as the scout of the Moon or she was remembering her instincts as Sailor Earth.

The masked man on the other hand simply dodged away from the extended claws like it was the simplest move in the world.

Seeing that its attack had been dodged and countered the monster flapped its large wings and with a slight jump began to fly away; somehow speeding through the low ceiling parking garage.

The masked man and Sailor Moon immediately took off sprinting after it, the Moon scout placing her tiara back on her forehead in the process, and the two watchers followed subtly; not wanting to alert any of the participants in the fight to their presence.

"Don't let it leave the garage or we'll have to chase it in the rain!" They heard the masked man called as they ran.

"When did it start raining?!" Sailor Moon asked without a single glance, her voice conveying her irritation with the weather.

"A few minutes before I arrived." He called back easily.

They watched Sailor Moon pick up her speed and veer off to the side, passing up the monster, before she leapt up and planted her feet on one of the pillars and pushed off it to the side. She stretched her arms out in front of her and slammed into the monster's side bringing it down with a screech to the ground. She rolled with her momentum into a crouch before she twisted around, and pulled off her tiara with the move; turning it into a glowing disk once again.

Amara held back an impressed whistle at the move. The reincarnation of Sailor Earth just might turn out to be a hands on type of fighter. If she continued to fight like that then she was going to be anxious for a chance to spar with her.

The masked man, who they were certain truly was the Earth Prince after seeing his movements and the way he spoke to Sailor Moon, quickly threw a hand full of roses at the downed monster sprawled on its stomach. Some pierced into its legs and back and the rest exploded against its wings causing it to scream.

In the next moment Sailor Moon sent her tiara sailing toward the monster, but the bat woman managed to get to its feet and spread its slightly tattered wings as it turned and screamed. The high pitch sound seemed to echo through the garage causing everyone to cover their ears, but Sailor Moon and the Earth Prince were clearly more affected as it was aimed at them. They both looked like they were in pain.

They squinted their eyes seeing that the sound seemed to come off the monster's wings in visible waves, which had the unfortunate effect of knocking Sailor Moon's tiara off course. Either that or Sailor Moon lost her concentration because of the sound waves.

The Earth Prince pulled some roses out of nowhere and threw a hand full at the wings, causing them to streak through the waves and pierce through the wings, which clearly pained the monster. Then he threw another hand full, which exploded on contact with the wings, stopping the piercing sound waves altogether.

Sailor Moon recovered quickly as she stood and steadied herself before she ran at the monster, and engaged it in a physical fight.

The watching scouts noticed that her tiara was once again hovering above her, and that the Earth Prince was standing back watching her as well. Either he was confident she didn't need any help or he was evaluating her; perhaps it was a bit of both.

After a few long moments he suddenly ran toward the fight and, just as Sailor Moon blocked a downward strike from the monster, grabbed the monster's free wrist as its fingernails began to glow, and bent the arm inward; forcing the monster's fingers to point at itself.

They watched as the monster's nails extended and pierced through its own chest, clearly unable to stop its own attack in time, screaming in pain.

Sailor Moon reached up above her, almost without looking, and grabbed her tiara and shoved it into the monster's stomach, grimacing at the sound of its scream, but continuing to push her tiara through until it burst through the monster's back.

The scream began to fade away and they all watched as the monster began to gradually turn gray before crumbling to dust.

"Good job." The Earth Prince told Sailor Moon as she put her tiara back on, and she gave him a small smile.

"Thanks." Sailor Moon said before she looked toward the location where the unconscious man still lay. "I should check on him." She said worriedly as she looked back toward the Earth Prince.

"Of course." He replied with a nod before he followed her as they jogged back toward the man.

Michelle nodded, pleased that the scout was more concerned about the victim than trying to leave the scene when it wasn't necessary.

The scouts of Uranus and Neptune shared a look once again, and silently agreed to leave. They could discuss what they had seen in detail once they were safely away.
