It was a beautiful day. It had been a few days with her helping them. Doyle had found her a place, and so she'd been able to have her own place, and even get her place furnished with help. She was enjoying the work, too. It was kind of like the few times she'd actually done good with helping Damon and the others with the bad guy. It was different though, since this wasn't about the fact that she was older with more information stored. This was helping others, as well as her helping a friend.

That day, there was a visitor that came to deliver a ring to Angel. Apparently, Buffy wanted to make sure it was in good hands, and Angel was the first person she thought of. After he'd gone and Cordy and Doyle had gone for a drink at some bar, Kat watched Angel go down into the sewers to hide it.

"Smart move, hiding it, but what if this Spike comes looking for it? He already tried to come after Buffy for it, as Oz said. You could use that yourself. You have an opportunity here. You wouldn't need to be in the darkness anymore," she said, when he came back up from the sewers.

"I can deal with Spike," he assured her. "That ring is too dangerous. Any vampire wanting to be able to walk in the sun will come for it. It needs to stay hidden," he replied.

"Who is he anyway?" she wanted to know.

"The vampire that I made insane before I turned her, Drusilla, turned Spike. His name was William, before he got that nickname. From everything he did in the past, he was known as William the Bloody, but when he started using railroad spikes, that's when everyone started calling him Spike. He's always been a bad fighter. I've always been able to win with him. But he can be quite arrogant and too ambitious."

"Sounds like he's pretty bad at being a vampire, minus the killing then," she replied.

"That sums it up," Angel agreed.

Later, Angel was down in a car garage where his car was, going to get into his vehicle, when he got hit. He landed against a wall, not far from the stairs, and saw Spike with a pipe in hand.

"Angel," Spike greeted. Although, it wasn't exactly a greeting. "I believe you have something I'm looking for. A shiny little bubble."

Angel got to his feet.

"You might as well go home, Spike. It stays with me."

Spike went to attack him, but ended up on the ground on his back.

"Why? Because you're Angel, vampire detective?" Spike got to his feet. "What's next? Vampire cowboy? Vampire fireman? Vampire ballerina."

They fought some more, and as they fought, they talked some more.

"This your big strategy to get the ring?" Angel inquired.

"I have a plan."

Angel pinned him against the hood of his car.

"You have a plan?"

"A good plan," Spike added. "Smart. Carefully laid out. But I got bored." Spike was able to pin him against a wall. "All that wanting. That waiting." Spike tossed him away, making Angel land against a door. "Just tell me where the ring is."

Angel turned around, vamped out, and tossed Spike a ways away. Spike then hit a wall, his ass once again kicked.

A moment later, Kat opened the door, hearing a noise, and saw them. Angel, vamped out, and another vampire.

"And who might you be?" he questioned.

"An old friend. Unwillingly turned into a human. Perhaps you've heard of me, or maybe Darla even spoke of me. Katherine Pierce. You must be Spike," Kat replied. She didn't think Spike was a big enough threat to keep a secret who she was. Not the way Angel described him as.

"Actually, no," Spike replied. Then told Angel, "I'll get that ring. This isn't over until one of us is a pile of dust." Spike then left.

Angel looked at her.

"This isn't over yet. Spike's out for blood. You need to go somewhere safe. Get out of sight."

"No. I'm not going to hide or run, because some vampire that ran with you, Darla, and Dru eons ago wants some powerful ring."

"Katherine, he might not be very good at fighting, but he could hurt you. Or worst."

"And so can all of my enemies. I won't have you fight alone. Teach me how to fight your way. Teach me how to use those weapons of yours. A stake I know how to use, obviously. You know that I'm a fast learner. And I won't take no for an answer," she insisted.

"Fine. I'll teach you to fight now that you're not a vampire anymore," he replied. "But if something happens to you, don't say I didn't warn you," he added. He hated sometimes that Katherine could be worse than Cordy.

Later, Angel taught her how to fight, as well as to use the weapons they usually used for vampires. Then, once Doyle got some information while Cordy was staying for safety at Doyle's place, Angel put a contraption on his arm, before he and Kat headed to a bar. Where he made some noise. And once he found out where he was, he went outside to the back.

"Let her go," Angel told him, seeing him feeding on a human girl.

"Has anyone ever told you what a buzzkill you are?" Spike asked, before throwing the girl over to him and running.

Angel caught her. Then let her go, and the girl ran off. Then he chased Spike until Spike stood with his back against an alley fence.

Spike put his hands up in surrender.

"Got nowhere to go. I guess the only thing left to do is to surrender and pay my debts to society."

"You think you can come to my city and pull this crap?" Angel inquired of him. "You never learn, Spike."

"I may be a slow learner, but I eventually catch on," he assured him.

"Not fast enough," Angel reminded him.

Spike was distracted with Angel, so Kat was able to sneak up on him and shock him, bringing him to the ground with a retractable baton that had the ability to shock like a taser.

"Angel taught me to fight as a human, but there was a time that I spent time in Beacon Hills, California. When I was a vampire, this was something that certain hunters would use on werewolves. I thought I'd give it a shot with you," she told Spike. She never thought in so many years that this kind of knowledge would come in handy, but she was thankful to know and care about at least a couple Argent hunters. She knew the drill, and she knew the weapons.

"You don't know who you're messing with," Spike told her through the pain of being shocked.

"Maybe not, but I know how to deal with arrogant vampires," she replied. Then she asked Angel, "What do you want to do with him? Kill him? Maybe a little torture?" She looked at him, for a moment, turning away from Spike.

Before Angel could decide what he wanted to do with the disobedient and arrogant vampire, Spike had recovered and was on his feet, hand around her throat, his other on her wrist, and made her drop the baton.

"I vote that you two give me that ring. Then I'll go. I'll leave this city of yours, and you'll never see me again. Or I can kill your friend here, and we'll just keep this dance going until either of us is dust."

"You said that I didn't know who I was messing with. Well, you don't know who you're messing with. You kill me, they'll be hell unleashed on you. And as bad as you are at winning a fight, you don't stand a chance. Whether he left or not, he'll always care. You kill me, you won't live. Elijah will hunt you down, and he will kill you. If Angel here or Enzo don't do it first. And guess what? Elijah's an Original. The very first of my kind of vampires. And no vampire can take out a thousand-year-old vampire. So, do you want Elijah to seek his revenge on you, or do you want to live? It's up to you," she told him around his hold.

Spike thought about what she'd said for a few minutes, before tossing her towards Angel, who then caught her.

"Maybe you're right. I can't kill you without getting killed, and I prefer to pick my own survival over some now human. But one way or another, I'll find that ring."

"No, you won't. I think you should go back to Sunnydale. Or whatever rock you crawled out from, and stay out of this city. You want a ring to be able to walk in the sun? Fine. There are plenty of vampires that can direct you to a witch that might want to give you a Daylight ring. But this ring? This one's off limits to you. And whoever else comes after it," she replied and informed him. "We'll never give up, no matter how much torture or threats you throw at us."

Later that night, they returned back to the office, once Angel had grabbed the ring. It was really late now, as he went up to the rooftop with her.

"It's been what? 200 plus years since you last saw your last sunrise?" she guessed.

"Give or take," he replied. The ring he'd put on after bringing it up from the sewers, he took off.

"What are you doing?" she questioned.

"I don't deserve this. I can't. I'm the only one that sees what really goes on after dark. The people I help, because I can see it. What if wearing it means I lose that sight? I see the weak ones lost in the night. The people in the sunlight. They don't see them. Or the things that prey on them."

"Angel, Buffy trusted you with the ring. If you don't want it, then trust me. I'll send it to someone that can keep it hidden and safe. Someone that won't use it for evil. I still have people that I trust. Responsible people. But if the time comes that you want to be able to walk in the sunlight, all you have to do is ask, and I'll deliver. We're in this together."

"Who would you send it to?" he asked her.

"Not Elijah. He's already indestructible, apart from just one thing that can kill him and his family. Damon. He's not always responsible enough to hide things and not use something for his own gain. Or for those he cares about. But there are a couple people I can think of. Enzo or Caroline. Enzo's pretty great at surviving, so I'll send it to Caroline. It'll help her survive. And if she needs any help, I know she'll call for Klaus' backup. She and Klaus hit it off while I was still in Mystic Falls. Caroline's a baby vampire still. There's times she's needed Klaus to save her life. Or others," she explained.

He handed it to her.

"Send it to her, then. I trust you. I always will."

She gave a smile at that. Then they both went back inside.
