It was a nebulous night, as someone walked through the front door of the office.

"Can I help you?" Kat questioned.

The guy looked at who was in the room, and then figured out which one was the person they were looking for.

"You Doyle? We need your help."

"What kind of help?" Doyle inquired.

"The Scourge. It's coming."

"The Scourge?" Angel questioned.

"What exactly does that mean?" Kat asked.

"Full-fledged demons wanting to wipe out all of the half-demons," Doyle informed them all.

"I thought we were fighting the forces of darkness here," Cordy stated, confused.

"They're half demon and half human. It doesn't make them bad guys," Doyle corrected her.

"Maybe this would be a good enough time to tell her," Kat suggested.

After a moment, Doyle decided that Katherine was right, and informed her who he was.

"I'm one of them. Half demon, but also half human." He showed his true face, before turning it back into a human again.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Cordy simply asked.

"I thought you'd reject me for what I am," Doyle admitted.

"I rejected you long before now!" Cordy told him.

"So. Back to The Scourge. These full bred demons. We should be able to defeat them. I mean, they're not the first ones to hate on half species. My former enemy, Klaus. He took on and killed his step-father. Mikael saw him as an abomination. He was a vampire that hunted vampires."

"No offense, but these demons are nothing but death," Doyle reminded her. "They're not just hateful vampires. They want to wipe us all out."

"Look, I'm new with dealing with demons, but I can handle those that think the same as Mikael usually. Tell me how they work. Everything. We can do the fighting. Angel can do the whole getting them to safety. Hopefully, nobody gets killed," Kat said. She looked at the half-demon that had asked for their help. "We'll help you. You just tell us where everyone is staying. We'll get you safely out of danger."

"Thank you. Of course," the demon replied.

"You sure you don't want someone else a little more powerful than we are to help?" Angel questioned. "If something goes wrong, I can't help. Look what happened last time. You had to save my life."

"You're right. I can call in a favor to a few people, but I doubt it'll be a huge army. I don't think we'll need any Originals," she agreed with Angel.

She went over to her desk, where she sat down and called some people from her past and present-ish life.

"I thought I'd heard the last of you," her eldest childe stated, seeing the familiar phone number.

"Hello to you too, Damon. Look, I wouldn't be calling if it wasn't important. But I thought you might be interested in helping to save the world. You always did like being the hero for everyone."

"What's going on?" he asked her.

"Here in LA, demons and half demons exist. Full blooded demons want to exterminate half demons," she said, as she listened in on the progress that Doyle and the others were getting. "It's not exactly just about the half demons, though. Anyone with human flesh in the vicinity that they decide to kill the half demons will be killed, too. And it could span to the entire world. You in?"

"Well, I don't really have a choice, do I?" he replied.

"There's always a choice on whether to help save the world or not. I've learned a lot here. Angel, an old friend, is here. He lives here. He helps people. I know him from when I was a vampire. Now, he's human, so we need someone that's not human. I didn't want to bring any Originals into this, so if you could come and help, that would be great."

"Tell me where you'll be," Damon replied.

She told him the address of Angel's office. Then called one other person. Enzo. It had been centuries, but she knew that he'd be also willing to help out.

"Hey. It's me. Long time no see. I need a favor. What do you say you team up with myself and Damon to save the world? You get to kill the bad guys."

"I'm always willing to lend a hand to you. You know that, luv," Enzo replied.

"If you hurry, you can meet Damon, and you can come here together. And remember that promise you made me? It's time. Tell him everything. He'll fill you in on what I told him is happening."

A few hours later, the half demons had been taken to a ship for safety, not knowing that they were set up by someone involved.

Meanwhile, Kat and Angel were waiting for her two vampire loves.

They entered, since it wasn't residential.

"I'm glad that you two decided to come," Kat greeted, and gave a smile. "These demons. They can pretty much die from anything, but some demons like Doyle. The half breeds. Brachen Demons. The good ones. They can heal in demon form from a broken neck, much like vampires. I don't know how many of us will survive these demons, trying to save these half demons, so I need to say something. It's time I actually told you the truth. The first truth. Enzo and I had something together, because I taught him how to be a vampire, because the one that turned him abandoned him. I made Enzo promise that if he ran into you, not to tell you that he knew me until I told him that it was time to do so. The other truth. I broke your heart to save your life. I was so afraid of Klaus back then, I was doing whatever I could to keep those I care about alive. I was afraid that if Klaus knew that we loved each other, he'd kill you for loving me. I didn't tell you the truth sooner, because you fell in love with Elena. It was too late. I can't take anything back, but I'm sorry. The pain I caused you…I never wanted to do that. I thought you should know that before we go off to fight."

"Well, I wouldn't expect anything less from him back then. Apology accepted," Damon replied. It would take him a long while most likely to forgive her for what she'd done, but knowing the Klaus that had come to town not long after she'd broken his heart, he understood her fear. And he, above most other people, understood the actions she took. Even if they seemed selfish. They were alike that way. He was sure he'd eventually forgive her, but he didn't know when. Hatred always ran deep in vampires, just as much as love and obsession did. Even vengeance. He wasn't sure when he'd be able to let his hatred die for what she'd done.

"Well, now that everything's out in the open, shall we?" Enzo inquired, ready to fight the battle.

"Yes," Kat agreed. "Angel will be on the ship with everyone, making sure everyone's accounted for. Doyle and Cordy are already there, waiting. Doyle and Cordy will help in the fight, but I've asked Angel not to. I can fight as a human, but Angel's not so great at it. And I don't want to see him get hurt again. Or killed," she then explained.

A little while later, they arrived on the ship. All the half demons were accounted for. Angel even went inside the ship, just as Kat had asked him to, double checking. Then Kat waited to see when the battle would begin. And it didn't take long for it to start. The contraption was brought inside the ship, as everyone fought the full-blooded demons.

Eventually, the fight was brought inside the ship, and they eventually won against them. However, the contraption still was in play.

"Any ideas how to stop it?" Damon asked her.

"There should be cords inside it. Maybe they can be disconnected, but I don't see how without touching the light," Kat replied.

"I'll do it," Angel replied.

"No. Angel. No offense, but you're not strong enough to do it. Besides, it's a death wish."

"I told you before, Katherine. I don't know what my purpose is anymore. I can't fight, so what use am I?"

"You're useful to me. To Cordelia. And everyone else that you ever touched. Buffy, for one. I don't think she would've survived being a Slayer for so long if she'd never met you," Kat assured him, as well as reminded him.

"You never know until you've been tested, yeah?" Doyle said to Angel. Angel didn't get the hint yet, but Kat suddenly did. She didn't try to stop him, though. She knew he had to do this for his own kind. Make up for the things he'd done in the past. Both known and unknown by her. Doyle then looked at Cordy. "Too bad we'll never know if this is a face you could learn to love," he said, and turned his face into his Bracken Demon face. He looked at Katherine. "Thank you. You helped me and all of us really, see things in a new light. I wish we could've known each other better." He turned his face human and, surprisingly, kissed her. But it wasn't something romantic. Katherine didn't know what that had meant. Then he pulled away and turned his face into a demon once again, before reaching in and grabbing the cords.

"Doyle, no," Angel said, trying to stop him, and Kat put a hand on his arm, a hand on his chest as well, keeping him from stopping him.

"Listen to me. Angel, this is something he needs to do. It's his kind. His species down there. He's doing this for himself and the world. Let him," she reasoned with Angel.

"It should be me," Angel argued.

They all watched as the cables were torn out of it, and as Doyle was killed by the light.

"I'm so sorry, but this is what he wanted," Kat stated.

Ignoring how strange it had felt for him to kiss her, she looked at her two vampires.

"I'm not exactly sure why he did what he did, but the world is safe. You can go home if you'd like, or you can stay."

"I think I'll stick around for a little while. What about you?" Damon replied to her, and then asked Enzo.

"It was nice to see you again, but I think it was time I went back home," Enzo replied.

"Fair enough. See you around then." She looked at Damon. "I have a place you can stay. If you don't mind sharing my place."

"Fine by me, as long as we don't have to share a bed," he replied.

"Great."
