It had been quite a few months since they'd worked together to kill Billy. Now, the visions had been getting worse and worse. The visions she was having were manifesting on her. She'd been fighting the pain for a while, hoping she could get through this, having been through a lot of pain before in her life, but she was in a lot of pain now. More than she had been in the past few centuries. They knew it wasn't Wolfram and Heart causing them, so it had to be because she was only human. Because she was human, they were getting pretty bad for her. Now, she almost wished Doyle had never given them to her. She wasn't sure she could get through the pain anymore, and that was saying something, since she could normally figure out how to get through it. She'd always been a fighter, after all. She'd survived her own father and 500 sum years of Klaus' hatred and anger towards her for being able to escape him. There'd been a time when she'd thought she could get through anything, with or without anyone at her side. Now, the physical pain was just too much for her to handle.

She was seated currently on the bathroom floor of her apartment, door closed, her right side and side of her head against the wall, which was by the tub, trying to hold it in after that last vision. The others had gone to the location her vision had taken them to to save someone, once she'd assured them that she was okay, even though she was sure that they knew she wasn't all that okay. But it was obey the visions or stay with her, and she'd asked them to go. And by now, everyone knew not to undermine what she told them, so they'd done what she'd said, and then she'd gotten herself home. Damon had always known to do as she asked. Otherwise, you'd suffer the consequences one way or another. The others had had to learn that, since they hadn't known her as well as Damon did.

"Katherine," she heard her elder childe say from the other side of the door, as she sat there. She assumed they'd finished, so he'd probably come to check on her. The others she was sure were probably back to finding a way to help her, but she was sure there was only one thing that could help her. Either vampire blood or being turned by one. Maybe this pain would stop if she wasn't human anymore. She was just back to when she'd first turned into a human. Tired of fighting. Tired of running. She felt like fighting didn't matter anymore. All she could feel was excruciating pain.

When she didn't say anything back to him, she heard the doorknob. Then, a few moments later, saw him at her side, knelt down, from her peripheral vision. She couldn't really move, because of how much pain she was in. She'd barely been able to get home earlier. She tried not to flitch from the pain she was in, when he rested a hand on her arm, even though he was being gentle, trying not to put her in more pain than he probably knew that she was already in.

"I can't do this anymore," she admitted to him.

"Sure, you can. You're Katherine. A fighter," he reasoned with her.

"I'm tired of fighting. I've been through a lot of pain in the last few centuries, but not like this. I feel nothing but pain all the time. I just want the pain to end."

He hated to see her like this, but with the cure inside her, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to help her how he wanted to, so he hadn't even tried. He hadn't even asked her if she wanted him to try turning her.

"Hey. I know you're in a lot of pain, but we'll figure this out," he assured her.

"How? It's been months."

He didn't have an answer to that. Then, after a moment of silence, he told her, "Let's just get you into bed."

She didn't reject, so he took her silence as an agreement, and carefully put his arm around her, trying not to cause her pain, but she clearly had pain everywhere. It was inevitable. She clearly hurt, no matter where and how he helped her. She clearly was feeling weak, too. Someone had to do something soon.

"Get me back to Angel's," she told him, as she allowed him to gently pick her up. And knowing her, he didn't think twice about it. When she wanted something, she was the type of person that you had to give it to her.

Kat lay in Angel's bed, feeling nothing but pain, as they all tried to figure out how to save her. Damon wanted to try turning her, she knew, but neither of them knew what would happen, since the cure was still in her. Maybe if the cure was out of her, it would work. Angel didn't want that for her, so he was trying everything in the books he could think of. Damon was ready to just take the risk, and she definitely wasn't going to reject in the state she was in. All she cared about was for the pain to stop. She knew one person that could help her while they figured all this out, but she didn't want to drag any Originals into this mess. After all, she knew all about Rebekah playing nurse back when. Apart from herself, she was the only person that knew how to medically take care of anyone. Cordy knew nothing but how to bandage up wounds. Damon knew the same thing as Cordy, but maybe a little more extensively, since it had been required when he'd gone off to fight in the Civil War on the South side.

In between searching for a way to save her, Angel came and sat on her bedside. He wasn't giving up, but he still couldn't find a solution, which made him feel kind of helpless.

"Let me guess. You haven't figured out a solution that doesn't require me to be turned," she immediately guessed.

"I'll figure it out," he assured her.

"If you're really against me asking to be turned by Damon, then there's still one more thing we can try. I didn't want to drag any Originals into this, but I know a trustworthy witch. She's powerful, as well as a Mikaelson. She could figure out something to save me. Even if I have to face Elijah after I lied to him a few years ago, it'll be worth a shot," she suggested to him. After all, she knew that they came with a package, and she knew if she was in any type of danger, and if he was able to get away, he'd be there for her, despite what had happened between them.

"You're sure about this?" he inquired.

"I'm sure. Just let me make the call," she replied.

Angel decided to agree. Anything that didn't include her being turned.

Despite the excruciating pain she still felt, she grabbed her phone from the end table without sitting up in bed. Then found Elijah's number, since she didn't have Freya's, considering it had been centuries ago when they'd crossed paths. Phones hadn't existed back then, so she had no way of having her number.

"Katerina," she heard a very familiar voice state almost as soon as she called him. She was surprised almost that he hadn't deleted her from his contacts. That, or he had her phone number memorized after all this time, still.

"Elijah," she greeted. "Is Freya there? I need her help."

"Yes," he informed her, not asking how she knew about her. He knew that she always knew things others hadn't told her about. "What's this about?" he added, obviously getting the hint that something was wrong.

"It's a long story. Just put her on," she replied.

After a moment, she heard a voice that she'd recognize even after all these centuries.

"Katherine. It's been a long time. Last time I saw you, I was a prisoner of Dahlia," she greeted.

"I need you to come to LA. Demons and good half demons exist here. A half demon transferred his visions to me right before he died three years ago, believing I was strong enough to handle them. I was up until months ago. They've been getting worse. Every time I have a vision now, whatever thing I see attacking someone in a vision, the injury manifests onto me. A few years ago, I was angry and took it out on my doppelganger after Elijah left with Klaus, so the cure for vampirism was shoved down my throat. Because I'm human, I can't heal, and nobody knows if there are any side effects to the cure. Angel here is against anyone being turned, so, for him, since we've known each other off and on throughout the centuries, I thought you'd be my only solution," she informed her, trying to sum it up as short as she could.

"You know, I'd do anything to help you," Freya replied.

"Thank you," Kat replied.

A moment later, she heard him again, so she imagined Freya must've given his phone back to him.

"We're on our way, Katerina. We'll have Kol keep an eye on things while we're gone," he informed her.

After a moment, they both hung up.

She looked at Angel, still seated on her bedside.

"Freya's coming. Elijah, too. He never could resist helping me, even if I don't ask him to. Besides, Freya's his eldest sister. He's bound to follow her," she informed him.

"Sounds like we can stop searching for a way to help until they get here then," Damon commented from the threshold of the bedroom, leaning against the paneling of the threshold.

"You can. All of you. Just don't anger her. Freya's got magic compared to power like what we all saw Esther had. She's just more of a trustworthy witch than their mother was," she replied.

"Thanks for the warning," he replied to her.

"Until they get here, I'm going to rest. And you should do the same," she told Angel. He was human like her. He needed sleep, eventually.

It took a few days, but they finally arrived in LA. Kat texted him the address, which was where they went. The Hyperion Hotel, but down in the basement of the hotel. Even though he'd fallen in love with the young hybrid, a part of him would always belong to Katerina. He could walk away, but he couldn't make himself stop loving her, even after all these years apart from her.

He wasn't sure what he expected to see, upon arriving in the basement and being let inside by the former vampire, Angel, but when he got to the bedroom, he was surprised at the obvious state she was in. Being a vampire, he could sense how much pain she was in. He was surprised that she hadn't asked for help sooner than this, but he did see that Damon was there, so he assumed he'd been the one helping her through this when Angel couldn't. After all, a human could only do so much. Some of the wounds that were clearly visible, he saw were old and had healed, so he assumed they'd been from months ago. Other wounds he could smell, which he assumed to be the more fresh ones that hadn't fully healed. He hated seeing Katerina like this, but he had to come to try and help her, but also he felt like he needed to be here to help Freya if she needed it. She'd just recovered from getting poisoned by the Strix recently, after all. Being an Original, he was no stranger to witches that had visions, but these kinds of visions he'd never seen before.

He stood inside the bedroom by the open door, while Freya came over and sat on her bedside.

"Until I find a way, I can take the pain away," Freya informed her.

"Please do," she replied.

After a few minutes of Freya doing a spell, Kat felt all of her pain disappear. That relieved her, since she could finally move again without pain surging through every inch of her body.

"Thanks. You can take Damon and Angel to the kitchen. There's a table you can work on there. Angel can show you," Kat replied. Then sat up, as Freya went to do as Kat asked of her.

When they had gone, Elijah went and sat on her bedside.

"You kept this a secret," he stated, but wasn't mad about it. He knew she had to have had a reason behind it.

"I did, but I helped her when I ran across her. She was desperate to find her family, and I still had a heart back then as a vampire. And I remembered the loss of a mother. I taught her your patterns before I left. I knew there'd be a time somewhere along the way that she'd eventually be able to find you all. It just wasn't time yet back then," she explained to him. "I didn't tell you what happened to me, because I was dealing with a lot. My daughter found me, only to get bitten by Tyler. I chose to honor her wish, instead of asking for the cure. When I found myself here in LA, and once I realized that Angel was here, well, I knew exactly where to go. He was a different breed of vampire when I first met him. He had no soul, so he was completely evil. When his soul was returned to him via vengeful gypsies, I came across him for a second time. I taught him how he could still be a vampire even with a soul, and he went on to help humans in trouble. A demon's blood got him turned into a human, so I helped him adjust. Can't say he'd be able to win a fight anymore with anything supernatural, though."

"You could've called, Katerina. I would have come," he reminded her.

"I didn't want to see you after you left, so I didn't think calling would make a difference. And I didn't want to make you choose between me or your family. After my daughter, Nadia, I finally realized what family means again," she replied.

"I'm glad to know that you found your way back as a human," he simply stated.

"As am I. I know Damon would turn me if I asked, but we don't know if I can digest vampire blood with the cure in me. If it wasn't for Angel, I'd take that risk. He lost an epic love months ago. The least I can do is try a solution not involving me turning. Before I turn against his wishes. Angel has this thing about people being turned into vampires. Ever since he was a vampire with a soul, he saw being a vampire as a curse. I'd say probably worse than Finn. Except Angel never once tried to kill himself," she informed him.

"How is he here?" Elijah simply questioned.

She knew he was talking about Damon, so she told him, "There was a battle between half demons and full demons, and since Angel's a human, we didn't exactly have all the power to win against the full-blooded demons, so I called upon Damon's help and Enzo's. Another vampire from my past. Enzo decided to move on after the battle, but Damon decided to stay for a while. I'm glad he did. He's been there, helping me the best he can, when Angel can't. And it helps having a vampire around when it comes to the supernatural."

"I'm glad he's been here, then," he replied. "If anything happened to you because I chose family over you, yet again..."

"Elijah, don't blame yourself. Things happen that we can't fix. We just need to learn to not blame ourselves for that. Not everything is in our control, whether we like it or not."

She rested a hand on his that was on the bed. Then, a moment later, yet another vision came to her. However, it was different this time. Because of Freya's spell that had taken away all her pain, it wasn't as painful as they normally were, and she could clearly see what it was about. The Mikaelsons.

He watched her close her eyes, hand to her temple, and realized this must be one of the visions.

"Katerina?"

After a few minutes, she looked at him.

"I had a vision just now. Care to explain your New Orleans situation?"

"What did you see?" he questioned back to her, not wanting to tell her everything, but was afraid that he'd have to.

"Marcel being your enemy. Some big battle between all of you against him. Some kind of prophecy, too."

"We should've come sooner, it seems," he replied, putting two and two together. "There's a prophecy that surfaced. The three of us will fall. One by foe, one by friend, and one by family. Up until your vision, we weren't sure which enemy to take care of to stop this prophecy."

"Do me a favor. Don't get bitten. I saw him bite you and Kol," she warned him.

"I appreciate your warning, Katerina. It appears when we're done here, we have a real enemy to dispose of," he replied.

"Maybe when I've recovered, I should go with you. If anything happens to you, I don't think I'd be able to live in a world without you," she replied. She hated the news that he'd given her, but she stayed strong. He was always one to go by any kind of warnings and some signs, so she wasn't afraid that he'd dismiss them. She was afraid some of the others would. Like Klaus, since she knew he didn't believe in signs and prophecies usually. And she knew how erratic Kol could be. They'd met once upon a time, long ago.

"We can discuss this later," Elijah replied to her. He didn't want her making a decision just because she was worried for him. And the type of person she'd described Angel as, he didn't think he'd want her going. Plus, Elijah didn't think there was much she could do as a human. She wasn't supernatural anymore. She didn't have super speed, senses, or instant healing. Nor could she come back from a fatal injury like a vampire could. He didn't want her getting in the middle of this war, anyway.

"Maybe you're right," she replied, which was kind of a shock to him. Very seldom had she ever said something like that to him, back when she'd been a vampire. She'd been so different as a vampire. It was almost refreshing for him, seeing how much that she'd changed. It was almost like a part of his Katerina he'd fallen for in the first place had come back. But there was still a part of the new Katerina in there, too.

It had taken a few days or so, but Freya had finally found a way to cure her magically of all of this. Now, Katherine was herself again. She now stood in Angel's room with Angel, having a discussion. She'd told him what she'd seen with the Originals.

"I had a vision of them in trouble for a reason. I have to go. You can come with me if you want to, but New Orleans can be dangerous for humans. Especially, humans that aren't very good at winning a fight. You've got Cordy. You don't need to come with me. And I've got protection. Elijah, together or not, will always protect me from danger. And hey. If you ever need anything, you can always bring Darla back here to help you. I doubt I'll be able to leave New Orleans for a while, once I'm there."

"All this for a vision?" was all he had to say.

"Look, if they get wiped out, no more werewolf cure for vampires. No more of my own kind of vampires. They all die, so will Damon and all of the other vampires I've known and even cared for. I didn't turn certain vampires to just sit back while they all get wiped out. I need to stop this."

"And if it gets you killed?" he inquired.

"I'll be okay. Descended from Travelers. Remember? Besides, Originals fighting side by side? I couldn't be more safe. Besides, Klaus has changed, according to Elijah. I won't need to fear him anymore."

She rested a hand on the side of his face, before they kissed. Then pulled away.

"I can't come with you. My place is here," he told her.

"And for now, mine is fighting side by side with Originals. I'm sorry, but when those I care for are in danger, I have to act. This is me acting," she replied.

He wanted to ask her to stay, but he didn't want to be a hypocrite. If people he cared for were in trouble, he'd go to save them, too. And he'd learned that her kind of vampires weren't exactly evil like the ones he knew and had been. He was afraid he'd never see her again, but she wasn't someone he could tell to stay like he wanted. She wasn't Cordy that he could sometimes persuade to do what he asked of her. Katherine was someone that did what she wanted, no matter what. And, once in a while, had always been selfless. And he wouldn't change her for the world. He loved her, no matter who she was, how she acted, and he'd be there if she needed him.

"Go. Save the Mikaelsons. I'll figure out how we can move forward without you here," he replied.

"Remember how Freya did a second spell? You'll be okay. Damon will stay as long as he's needed. And considering he's a vampire, what happened to me shouldn't happen to him. I'd never wish him pain, but he was willing. And as a vampire, he should be able to protect you two while I'm stuck in New Orleans," she informed him.

"You had Freya transfer them to Damon," he realized.

"Yes. You'll still all be able to help people. And you'll still have a vampire to help you," she told him.

She gave a smile, glad that she was leaving them in a pretty good spot. Then she left the bedroom, said her goodbye's to Damon, and she left with both Elijah and Freya, heading to New Orleans.
