Arc 1: Wyvern Rebellion - Chapter 14

-3 months later-

Wyrnxoth stood among the remains of the keep he stayed in for the past three months. He did nothing but eat and rest. He focused solely on getting used to the way Earth-Land was now all these years later. The Ethernano was different, rather, the universe he was in had no magic at all. He used what he had sparingly. But now, he could harness his full strength and no one would be able to stop him. Roaring echoed through the air. In the far distance, large creatures landed just outside the keep, one by one. Through the entrance came the rest of the Sky Dominion, the last of Wyrnxoth's clan.

"Welcome back. The time of our reckoning is close at hand." Wyrnxoth announced as they approached. Garnet walked forward in front of the Wyvern lord and knelt in front of him. Everyone else followed suit.

"We await your orders." Garnet claimed.

"For centuries we have lived in exile, hiding from those who wanted nothing more than the utter destruction of everything. We have suffered, yes. But now, we are united and stronger. The dragons exist no longer. They're souls are dead, never to grace us with their presence. Our Sky Dominion shall rise again and rule the heavens." Wyrnxoth dictated. The others nodded, knowing that they would be able to finally strike. Echo was the first to stand.

"Lord Wyrnxoth, what's our first move?" He asked.

"First, we crush the opposition that would hinder us. I believe in these last three months, you all have been able to gage who have the potential to stand against us." He answered, Echo nodded.

"I personally have learned a lot where I stayed. A nice noblewoman allowed me in her home, albeit against her will. I have learned of many guild of wizards that are worth taking out. The more we destroy, the more others will think twice to stand against us." Echo explained. Wyrnxoth crossed his arms while closing his eyes.

"Where are those guild located?" He asked. Echo summoned a map and opened it up. The Dominion crowded around the map. He circled several places on the continent of Ishgar.

"My lord, I'd suggest razing the path we take toward the kingdom of Fiore. It seems a great many powerful wizards reside there. They are called the Wizard Saints. If they fall before us, then the humans will quake in their boots." Echo explained.

"A sound suggestion. First, we wipe out the guilds here, here, and here. Then, Fiore's destruction." Wyrnxoth stated, motioning to the circled locations, "From there, we march to the rest of the continent and claim Ishgar for our own. And if allowed, the entirety of Earth-Land could be within our grasp. Now go! Prepare for war!" He commanded. The Wyverns bowed and dispersed to prepare. Wyrnxoth looked over at Garnet.

"Garnet, you will be my second in command. Determine the most strategic approach. Ensure to not fail me." Wyrnxoth claimed with a commanding tone. Garnet nodded and left the keep. Wyrnxoth smirked as he looked up at the sky.

"I will avenge you all. Now is the time of the Wyvern."

-Fiore Branch of the Magic Council-

Draculos sat in his office, his right hand holding a glass of milk. He swirled it around in thought. He looked to the window to see that the sun was setting. The chairman sighed as he stood up from his desk. It was getting late, and had been using all his time to focus on the different events that had been occurring all over Fiore. Most notably, this nonsense about Wyverns. Draculos shook his head as he walked toward his office door and opened it up. As he stepped out into the hallway, he saw a man with orange hair and blue eyes standing before him. He wore a long coat and black boots, along with black pants and a white shirt. Draculos raised an eyebrow as he looked at the man before him.

"Who might you be?" He asked calmly.

"I am Falconer Sky. I come bearing news of great importance." Falconer claimed with a smirk on his face as he approached the chairman.

"Oh? And what might that be?" Draculos asked calmly while holding the cup of milk. Echo stopped in front of the chairman who looked down at him.

"That the Wyverns have come to rebel against the status quo. Lord Wyrnxoth wishes to avoid unnecessary bloodshed, or at least I do. You can surrender on behalf of the Wizard Saints, no? Well, anyway, I've come to warn you. Step in the way of our campaign, and we'll utterly annihilate you." Falconer stated calmly while looking up at Draculos who raised an eyebrow. The chairman took a sip from his cup before he lowered it and looked at Echo with a serious expression on his face.

"I don't know who this Wyrnxoth is, but I will not let anyone destroy Fiore. If you want war, then you'll get war." Draculos claimed as he took another sip from his cup. Echo simply chuckled.

"It won't be war. It'll be slaughter." Falconer stated calmly. He turned around and walked away from the chairman who frowned.

"You're awfully confident for someone who came alone." Draculos claimed. The Wyvern didn't turn about. He simply pointed toward the windows. In the sky were hundreds, perhaps, thousands of flying creatures surrounding the Magic Council building. Draculos' eyes widened slightly as Falconer smiled.

"Enjoy the festival. It'll be the last peaceful moments Fiore will have." Falconer claimed. Draculos clenched his fists. The orange-haired Wyvern disappeared and Draculos gritted his teeth.

"Seal the building off. Lockdown protocols are now in effect." The chairman demanded. The Rune Knights scattered as Draculos turned around. He closed his eyes and exhaled. He couldn't believe the day he didn't think would ever come. Wyverns returning and declaring war on humanity. Before he could move, harsh rumbling shook the building. An explosion was heard below as a giant figure took to the sky. The chairman could only stare in awe. He had never seen a Wyvern in the flesh. However, the way the creature held itself with such power and confidence. Draculos knew he had to stop this Wyvern, no matter the cost. He pointed his finger at the creature, his eyes narrowed.

"I will not let you destroy the peace that has been forged after the Tartaros incident." Draculos claimed. He activated his magic and attempted to paralyze the Wyvern. To his shock, nothing happened. His eyes widened.

"What?!" The chairman exclaimed. The Wyvern looked down at him and opened its maw. Draculos quickly held his arms up in front of his face, blocking the incoming blast. He was sent flying back and crashed through a wall. He groaned softly while getting to his feet. Draculos could see the creature flying off toward the horizon.

"He's headed toward Clover. Everyone, evacuate the town immediately." Draculos commanded. A Rune Knight saluted and ran off. The chairman frowned.

"I will not let these Wyverns destroy Fiore." He claimed.

"Sir!" A Rune Knight shouted.

"Yes?" Draculos asked.

"The evacuation process is going to take too long. The people of Clover won't make it in time." The Rune Knight stated. Draculos frowned.

"It's not that we're not fast enough. It's that the Wyvern is moving too fast. We'll do the best we can." The Rune Knight explained. Draculos nodded.

"Of course. But if we can't get everyone out in time, then we'll have to fight." He claimed. The Rune Knight looked at him in shock.

"Sir, you can't possibly be considering fighting that thing, can you?" The Rune Knight asked.

"That thing is a Wyvern and its destruction must be stopped." His eyes looked toward the hovering Wyvern. It charged another blast, aiming it at the chairman. A smaller figure appeared, swimming rapidly through the air. It was a Great White Shark. The Wyvern turned to look at the approaching animal, not giving it any mind. However, the sea creature bit into the hide of the Wyvern and began to push it down toward the earth. Another Rune Knight ran toward Draculos.

"Sir, I have a communication Lacrima for you... It's from a guild master from Magnolia Town. Says his name is Basil Greenbloom. Do you want to take it?" The Rune Knight asked, handing over the communication device. Draculos took the Lacrima from him.

"Thank you." He said, turning on the device. Basil's face was revealed.

"Mr. Chairman! An honor to meet you. I greatly apologize for this seemingly random correspondence, however, I hope that Master Makarov was able to pass along a certain tidbit of information?" He asked. Draculos raised an eyebrow.

"You mean that the Wyverns are returning?" He asked.

"Precisely. However, that is not the only thing I wanted to inform you about. I have laid claim to stopping these Wyverns. I made this request of him, and now I'm asking you. Please allow the guild Emerald Oasis take care of the Wyverns. It just so happens we have the key to stopping." Basil stated. Draculos looked at him in shock.

"You do?" He asked.

"We do. It seems that in the same way that Dragon Slaying Magic exist, it has been discovered, or rediscovered I should say, that there exist Wyvern Slaying Magic. And we just so happen to have a mage who has learned it." Basil explained. Draculos nodded.

"Very well. But if you are unable, then we will have no choice but to step in." He stated. Basil smiled and bowed.

"Thank you for allowing us to do this. Rest assured, I have complete faith in my mages. They will be empowered by tree spirit magic, so temporarily, they will be exuding magical aura similar to S-Class mages. It'll be just enough to fight them, I hope." He said. Draculos nodded.

"Very well. We will continue to monitor the situation." Draculos stated, turning the communication Lacrima off.

Titan had clenched his jaw around the hide of Falconer pushing him out of the sky. the two descended into the trees, leaving a trail of destruction. Falconer turned back to human, and held the shark's mouth open.

"There's something you don't see every day. Shark outside of the ocean." He quipped. He pushed against the ground, getting his footing, and tossed the creature to the side. "Where did you come from?" He asked aloud.

"Here you are, Titan. You got so excited when I summoned you, you sped off before I could keep up." A woman's voice called.

"Oh? So the shark is your pet? What a shame." Falconer mused.

"Titan is not my pet, he is my friend." She corrected.

"I see." He turned his head to find the source of the voice. From the thickets came a certain blue haired woman. She wore one of her ocean themed dresses.

"And you are?" Falconer asked, raising an eyebrow. She walked forward and stood in front of Titan.

"My name is Coral Crest. And you're an idiot if you think you're going to get away with this." She smiled. Falconer scoffed.

"Get away with this? Human, it's already begun. There's nothing you can do to stop the Sky Dominion. We will return to the heavens and rule over the humans. You all will kneel before us." He explained. Coral shook her head.

"I'm afraid I can't let that happen. We were told that we were the only ones who could stop the Wyverns. And I'll do whatever I can to keep this world safe." She stated.

"Coral." Zephyr had joined her. His face had the focus and poise of an adult. Sylph sat on his head.

"It has been a while since we worked together, Zeph-kun." She said.

"So, this guy is a Wyvern? How should we deal with him?" Zephyr asked. Falconer smiled.

"Ah, a pair of little wizards. Tell me, are you really so confident in your skills?" He asked them. But they seemed to ignore him.

"We try to keep the damage spread to a minimum. I'm hoping we don't cause too much destruction." Coral mused. Zephyr looked at her in shock.

"What are you talking about? You saw what that guy did. We can't hold back. We gotta give it our all." He said. Coral raised an eyebrow.

"Oh really?" She asked. Zephyr nodded.

"You think he won't do the same? We need to go all out if we want a chance against him." He said.

"I don't know if I should be offended or not. It's not smart to ignore your opponent!" Falconer yelled, punching the air and causing a burst of air to fly toward the two.

"Galestride: Wind's Path!" Zephyr cast. A wall of wind appeared before the two. It blew upward, causing the attack go upward. It blew apart treetops. Coral frowned.

"You see? We don't want to destroy the forest. If we can contain it, then we should." She said. Zephyr scowled.

"Sylph! Coral is being unreasonable!" He complained. Sylph patted his head.

"I can't agree with either of you. I mean, Coral has a point, we should contain the damage, but Zeph has a point too. We need to give it our all." Sylph claimed. Coral sighed.

"Fine. Let's go." She said. Falconer smiled.

"My my, children. It's not nice to ignore Wyverns. You might regret it."

Garnet stood on the precipice of Hargeon Town. He crossed his arms, scoffing at the sight.

"Simple strategic maneuver. Take out how they receive supplies, and you cripple them." He said to himself. He flicked two fingers upward, causing crystals to erupt from the ground. The crystals made a path, extending outward and crisscrossing, like a web.

"They'll have no choice but to surrender once I'm through with them." Garnet stated. His eyes narrowed, looking over the town.

"Now, let's get this started." He declared, holding his hand outward. A crystal sword appeared in his hand. He held it toward the sky.

"Crystal Sword!" Garnet shouted as a blast shot into the sky. Shards arced and began to rain down on the town.

"GeoGuard: Boulder Blade!" Gideon cast. The earth below him rose and formed into a great sword. He grabbed the handle, and ran forward. He jumped into the air and swung the great sword, sending a great wave of earth forward. The two minerals clashed, rock and crystal obliterating one another, turning into dust. Garnet smirked, and held his sword outward.

"You. A human foolish enough to stand against the coming new world order. Or is it that you want to die sooner than the rest?" Garnet asked, turning to face Gideon.

"My name is Gideon Granite. And I won't allow anyone to destroy this town." He said calmly.

"So a little human wants to stop us. Fine. You'll be the example." Garnet said. He charged toward Gideon, and swung his crystal sword. The two weapons clashed.

"You're strong. But you're not strong enough." He said, pushing his sword against Gideon. Gideon slid across the cobblestone streets, trying to hold back Garnet. The Wyvern tossed Gideon back, flying toward a wagon. The stone-faced man slammed against the wooden cart, shattering it. Gideon groaned softly and sat up, looking at the Wyvern.

"I'm stronger than you think." He said. He placed his hands on the ground.

"GeoGuard: Javelin Spikes!" Gideon cast. The earth began to shake. Rocks lifted from the ground, creating spears. They shot forward toward Garnet. The wyvern held out his hand, creating a crystal shield. The rocks shattered against the crystalline barrier. Garnet smirked as the dust cleared. He flew forward quickly, swinging his sword downward. Gideon held up his great sword to block the attack, but he was pushed back by the strength of the Wyvern. Gideon placed his forearm against the side of his great sword to hold out.

"An earth mage? I'm intrigued to see how far humans have progressed since we've left this world." Garnet said. Gideon shook his head, trying to push back against the Wyvern's crystal blade.

"You're going to lose." The wyvern claimed.

"I won't let you destroy this town!" Gideon yelled.

Cassiopeia had just arrived at a quaint little town. She wanted to look around for the moment before causing panic and destroying everything in sight. She perused the vendors on the walkway, admiring the jewelry. She picked up several and looked them over.

"You're a gem connoisseur? I'd never peg a Wyvern to be interested in such things." Abe said. He stood next to Cass, his arms folded and looking at the piece of jewelry she had in her hands. She looked at him, smiling slightly.

"Well, I suppose you're right, but it's fun to admire pretty things every now and again." She said. Abe nodded.

"I suppose so." He mused. Cassiopeia turned to face him fully.

"So you're here to stop me?" She asked. Abe nodded.

"Yup." He said simply. Cass smiled softly.

"May I at least know the name of the courageous yet foolish mage?" She asked. Abe bowed slightly.

"My name is Abernathy Tomlin." He introduced. Cassiopeia nodded.

"Well then, Abernathy, let's get this started." She suggested. Abernathy raised a finger.

"Well hold on. Perhaps I could convince you to stand down?" Abe offered. Cass smiled softly.

"If only it were that easy." She said. Abernathy shrugged.

"It's worth a shot, right?" He asked. Cass shook her head slightly.

"If you were just a tad bit more handsome, I would have heard you out." She teased. Abernathy raised an eyebrow while smiling slightly.

"So if I was more attractive to you, you'd listen to my pleas?" Abe asked. Cassiopeia nodded softly while smiling.

"Yes. If." She confirmed. She lifted her hand and a nebula explosion erupted between the two. Abernathy flew backward, crashing into the ground several times before coming to a stop. He groaned softly while getting to his feet slowly. He looked up to see Cassiopeia standing there with her arms crossed.

"I'm not like the others. I don't like all this brute force and fighting. I prefer the company of shiny beautiful things." She walked toward him and knelt. "The stars are but one example that I speak of. They shine brilliantly in the sky, boasting infinite value that no gem anywhere could compare to. A cutie like you should know when he's outmatched before the fight even starts. I'll give you a chance to surrender. I'll make your end quick and painless, and beautiful." She offered. Abernathy smiled slightly.

"You're right about one thing: you're definitely not like the other Wyverns. But I can't let you destroy this town." He said while getting to his feet. Cassiopeia sighed.

"Very well then." She said while standing up. She held her hand outward, creating a crystal staff. She twirled it around before pointing it at Abernathy.

"My magic is Astral Projection and cosmic magic. Thought I go ahead and give you a chance, since you seem like a nice guy." Cassiopeia explained while smiling softly. Abe nodded.

"Appreciate that." He said calmly. Cass smiled slightly.

"Nebula's Explosion!" She cast, creating a massive explosion between the two. Abernathy flew backward crashing into the ground several times before jumping to his feet. His hand shot to the handle of his sword. However, before he could pull it out. A cloud of what seemed like star dust covered his view. Cassiopeia slowly exited the dust, her alluring smile shining.

"It seems like we're a bad match, you and I." She said, "Do you know what an exploding star looks like?" She asked while walking forward. Abernathy shook his head.

"No, but I'm assuming you're about to tell me." He stated calmly while backing up slightly. Cass smiled softly.

"When a star reaches the end of its life, it explodes in a supernova. It creates beautiful colors that paint the sky in all sorts of hues and shades." She explained while holding her hand outward. A ball of light appeared in her palm.

"A supernova is one of the most powerful forces in nature. Let me show you." She blew on her hand and the ball of light scattered in sparkling dust. Abernathy looked around as he saw stars appear around him. Cass held out her staff and pointed it at him. The stars began to glow brightly before they shot toward Abernathy. He raised his arms in front of his face to protect himself. The stars exploded upon impact, creating a massive cloud of dust. Abernathy groaned softly while getting to his feet. He looked around to see that he was surrounded by a nebula cloud.

"I'm sorry it had to come to this. I don't enjoy torturing the feeble. It's simply not my thing." Cassiopeia claimed while walking through the cloud toward Abernathy, twirling her staff around in her hand. Abernathy sighed softly while shaking his head.

"This is my first time facing you, in all the restarts I've done." He explained. Cass tilted her head.

"Restarts?" She asked. Abernathy nodded.

"Yeah, I can go back in time to fix mistakes that have been made. But I can only go back a certain amount of times before I run out of power. And it looks like you've shown me your cards." He stated with a smile.

Echo rubbed his hands on his arms, the chilly air catching him off guard.

"Ugh. Why was I sent back to this town? Margaret Town? Who places a town next to a freezing mountain?" He complained aloud. The town had a rustic feel to it. If only he stayed here, he could have made this whole place his while he waited for the three months to pass. He sighed softly while walking down the cobblestone streets. He looked around, seeing several people walking around. They were all bundled up in heavy coats and scarves. Echo scoffed slightly as he continued walking. He looked for a place to warm up before he started causing havoc. That's when he felt a finger on his chest. He stopped walking. In front of him was a voluptuous woman with light blue hair and purple eyes.

"Aren't you handsome? If you were human, I'd definitely give you the time of day." Yulia stated. She placed her hands on her hips. Echo smiled slightly.

"Well, it seems like I'm lucky that I'm not human." Echo said while smiling charmingly. Yulia smiled softly while shaking her head.

"I know. A shame. Not my type." She claimed. Echo raised an eyebrow.

"Oh really?" He asked. She nodded while smirking.

"I prefer someone who's more... how do I put it? More manly." She said while walking past him. Echo turned around to face her as she walked away from him. He watched as she walked away, admiring the swaying of her hips. His eyes were glued as she put distance between them.

"Lord Wyrnxoth, why must we destroy the humans when they-" A fist cracked across Echo's face. He was sent flying, hitting a brick wall, hard. He pulled himself out of the hole he made. He smiled snidely.

"You chose the wrong person to... oh wow." He said. A white haired and yellowed eye young lady approached him. There was something different about her.

"Fiora-san told me about that look. She said it was called a 'perverted stare'." Viperion expressed. Echo shook his head slightly.

"I was simply admiring that woman's... assets." He excused. Viperion placed her hands on her hips.

"Assets... Oh! That means you were ogling her curvy features." Viperion stated while smiling softly. Echo smiled slightly.

"Right... So what brings a fair young lady like you to Margaret Town? And least of all, daring to punch me. You give me a good reason and I'll let it slide." He asked while walking forward. Viperion looked around before looking back at him.

"Well, I came here to find someone." She claimed. Echo raised an eyebrow as he walked past her.

"Oh really?" He asked while placing his hands on his hands behind his back. "Perhaps I could help." He offered.

"See, Yulia-san told me to hit whoever she talked to as hard as possible. And I did. But, I told her I was looking for a Wyvern, not a person." Viperion explained while walking beside him. Echo looked at her before looking forward.

"A Wyvern? Why are you looking for a Wyvern?" He asked. Viperion smiled softly while looking up at the sky.

"I'm supposed to stop them. I don't want them to destroy the humans. I have friends that I've grown to care for." She claimed. Echo raised an eyebrow as they walked through town.

"Friends? You're friends with humans?" He asked while looking at her. Viperion nodded while smiling brightly.

"Yes, I am! I love my guildmates very much!" She exclaimed happily. Echo smiled slightly.

"And what guild would this be?" He asked while looking forward. Viperion looked up at him before looking around.

"Emerald Oasis Guild." She stated softly. Echo raised an eyebrow as they walked through the town together.

"You know, that name rings a bell." He claimed with a hand to his chin.

"Does it?" She asked excitedly.

"Nope!" He exclaimed with a smile. "But hypothetically, let's say I was that Wyvern you were looking for. What would you do next?" He asked while looking down at her. Viperion thought for a moment before looking back at him.

"I don't know... I never got that far." She claimed while looking around. Echo raised an eyebrow before smiling slightly.

"Well, I guess that makes me your lucky break! I'll help you find this Wyvern of yours." He offered. Viperion nodded.

"That'd be so kind of you." She stated happily. Echo grinned.

"How about a name before I help you." He suggested.

"My name is Viperion. But my friends call me Vi!" She exclaimed happily.

"Viperion... Fitting. I'll try to remember that name when I crush you." He stated with a smile. Viperion smiled brightly while looking around.

"I don't think you can do that!" She claimed happily. Echo raised an eyebrow before grinning slightly.

"Oh really?" He asked while moving towards her slowly. He pulled a violin seemingly from thin air and began playing a beautiful tune. The melody was mesmerizing. Viperion didn't notice he was playing faster and faster until he hit a high note. The note shot out in force. It hit Viperion square in the chest, sending her flying backward. She crashed through several buildings, coming to a stop on a pile of rubble. Echo stopped playing and walked forward.

"Where are my manners? I deeply apologized. Ahem. I am Echo Sky. Member of the Sky Dominion. Wyvern. I'm happy that I was able to pay you back for that punch." He said while walking forward. Viperion groaned softly before getting to her feet slowly.

"That was rude! I don't think you were being a good person!" She claimed while rubbing her head softly. Echo was getting confused.

"It seems this may have gone over your head. I'm the Wyvern. The one you were looking for? It's like you aren't human." He commented. Viperion smiled brightly while brushing the dust off her clothes.

"I'm not human! I'm a Fenrir Ant!" She exclaimed happily. Echo raised an eyebrow while smiling slightly.

"A... Fenrir Ant? Never heard of them. They must have been too weak to stand on the surface with Dragons and Wyverns." He said. He had gotten closer. Big mistake.

"Weak? My race? Absolutely not. Fenrir Ants are warriors, capable of felling even the toughest of opponents. We're strong, smart, and fast. We're able to adapt to any environment we're in. We can even use magic! And you dare call us weak? I'll show you how wrong you are!" She shouted. Magic poured out of her as her exoskeleton covered her body. But it wasn't her usual armor.

"Fenrir magic: Primal Exoskeleton!" She shouted. Her exoskeleton changed from its usual gold and black to silver and black. Her wings disappeared, she seemed sleeker. Echo chuckled, lifting his violin to his chin.

"Yuck. To think I called an insect beautiful." He said while smiling snidely. Viperion charged forward quickly. She moved faster than Echo could see. He felt a fist crack across his face, sending him flying backward. He flipped and felt the floor beneath his feet. She spun to slow his momentum and began playing rapidly.

"Yes. Yes! Accelerando! Feel the tempo increase!" He shouted. He took a step forward, and disappeared. Viperion looked around, trying to get a sense of where he was.

"You move fast. But, can you keep up with a Wyvern?" He asked, having appeared behind her, whispering in her ear. Viperion spun around quickly, swinging her fist at him. Echo teleported several times.

Iris and Thorn approached Magnolia town. They were to keep all the mages here occupied so they wouldn't interfere with Wyrnxoth. Their task was solely to keep the mages occupied. The sun had past noon, arcing and creating shadows among the buildings.

"This place reeks with human magic. I prefer the wilderness than this heap." Thorn said while looking around. Iris nodded in agreement. She could feel the magical energy flowing through the air.

"It seems that this town has a large amount of mages living here." Iris stated while looking around. "Guilds that have the potential to be obstacles in taking over Fiore. We must eliminate them quickly." She claimed with a smile. Thorn nodded in agreement before looking around.

"And where do we begin?" He asked while walking forward slowly. Iris looked around before looking back at him.

"We can encase this town with your vine magic. That will be a good start to delay their escape." She suggested. Thorn nodded before holding his hand outward. Vines sprouted from the ground racing to build walls around the border of Magnolia. Soon it united toward the top, creating an enormous dome, covering the town completely.

"If that doesn't get their attention, I'm not sure what will." Thorn claimed while lowering his hand. Iris nodded before looking around.

"However, this will limit our movements. It would be wise for us to split up." Iris claimed. Thorn nodded.

"I'll remain outside the barrier. And you can use your shadow magic to trip up those who'll attempt to break out.

"Or perhaps you do neither of those and you consider surrendering." A voice called out. Walking down the street was Basil. On either side of him stood Lyra and Luna.

"I believe the odds are against you. You're greatly outnumbered. All we wish to do is talk, not fight." Basil suggested while smiling softly. Thorn and Iris looked at each other before looking back at them.

"Odds against us? You must be as dumb as you look. It's you three that have the odds against you. The Wyvern Rebellion has begun, and humanity will either bow to Lord Wyrnxoth, or perish." Thorn stated, grinning slightly. Basil shook his head lightly.

"Humanity will not kneel to tyrants." Lyra chimed in. Thorn frowned before turning to Iris. Iris smirked before her arm turned pitch black, a purple light glowing from the darkness.

"Talking is pointless, Thorn. I sense no fear from them." Iris claimed. Thorn grinned slightly before laughing.

"Very well, let's not waste our breath." Thorn proclaimed. Vines began to snake through the stone in the ground, wrapping around Thorn. It was a tense couple of moments, both sides wanting to determine how to approach.

"Heh, smart humans." Thorn stated. Numerous amounts of vines snaked through the stone turning the cobblestone road into a jungle of vines.

"Where did he get all of this from?" Lyra asked.

"It's all from him?" Basil explained. Luna and Lyra looked to him in surprise.

"From him?" Luna asked. The guild master nodded.

"These vines aren't indigenous to this area. As a matter of fact, they aren't from Ishgar or anything from this side of the world." Basil affirmed. Thorn chuckled. It echoed around the vines.

"You're right. They don't exist in this world. I brought them with me when we returned to Earth-Land. They're from the World Of Shadows." Thorn explained, "They have no natural predators and are quite intrusive. Once they taste the soil, they're unstoppable. Nothing stops them. They have the capability of spreading and killing all plant-life in their path. Nothing survives." Thorn finished with a smile. Basil scowled.

"Using plants to kill plants. You're no better than someone controlling one human to kill another. The intent is still there, no matter the medium." Basil remarked. Thorn laughed.

"Such a noble wizard. Such an honor, really. But, let's test that honor shall we." He claimed. He lifted his hand and close it into a fist, the vines moved to wrap around the trio, but Luna weaved her hands.

"Shadow Weaving: Big Bad Wolf!" A large shadow wolf emerged from hers, and began to chomp away at the plants. Lyra began to weave as well while moving forward through the path the wolf made.

"Lunar Illusionism: Hansel and Gretel!" Two warriors were woven into existence, one with a bow and the other with a sword. Hansel pulled back its bow while Gretel began to mow down the vines making its way toward the two human shaped Wyverns. However, neither of them moved. They stood, waiting for them to approach. Gretel jumped into the air, sword raised high. Hansel let the arrow loose, the ammunition shining. Thorn simply grinned as he watched the sword come down on him. Suddenly Gretel was chomped in half, the threads of moonlight unraveling. A giant paw stomped on Hansel. The Big Bad Wolf howled ferociously.

"Luna, what happened? Why did your magic attack mine?" She asked. Luna was about to respond when Iris spoke.

"Don't worry, your sister couldn't do anything about it. My magic, Shadowmeld, allows me to control the shadows, just like her. Mine, however, is much stronger. Your puppet, is now mine." Iris claimed.

"No way!" Lyra exclaimed. Thorn began to laugh loudly.

"I appreciate the assistance Iris." Thorn claimed. Basil scowled.

"Looks like we'll need to split them up. Together they are too powerful. But we'll have a chance if we can each focus down one. I'll take the green haired fellow. You girls takes the woman. They essentially counter our magic, but I have faith in the both of you. I hope the Magic Council doesn't bill us for this." He commented. Basil drew circles in the air, green lights following his drawing. the lights sunk into the ground. Tree roots rose combating the vines, and split the earth.
