Happy Halloween to my Readers! Here's a tiny filler arc for you!

It has been fifty-seven years since the execution of the Second Pirate King, Monkey D. Luffy, and he has left a legacy in his wake so great that some say he was more legendary than the First King, Gol D. Rogers. But like the last Pirate King, at his execution, he told the world that he had again hidden the One Piece for the world to find. Many saying it was the start of the next Age of Piracy, but then, war broke out among two families: The Monkey family and the Cobra family. After four decades of bloodshed, the war finally subsided. And nineteen years later, a member of the Cobra family set out on a quest to obtain the One Piece, his name is Cobra D. Red. P.S. I wonder how many people actually read this paragraph every time.

Lost in the Mists! The Mystery Island

"I knew we should've have used the better compass!" shouted Red, clenching his fist and crushing the grimy compass in the process. Since the storm had blown them off course, they had argued over what compass to use to try and get back on course. Henry had argued for the grimy compass, saying that it was more stable than the one his grandfather had given them, and Red had argued for the one from his grandpa, saying that although it was a little more fidgety, you could read it. So, after putting it up to a vote, Henry's logic and reason won over the other two's vote and they had sailed using the grimy compass. Unfortunately, either they had misread the compass, or the grime on the inside had screwed with it, now they were on a completely different island than the one they had set out for.

Now, setting aside the fact they were lost now, landing on the island might not have been such a bad thing… had it not been for the fact that there was literally nothing there.

They had gone around the entire island, yet they had not found a single hint of human civilization. Henry sighed at Red's yelling, and called over to him, saying, "It probably wasn't even the compass' fault," this brought the crew's attention on him, and he continued, glad that they were distracted by something, "We were blown off course, so obviously even if we went the exact direction we were told to go, we wouldn't have ended up where we expected anyways. Count yourselves lucky we came across land so soon, who knows how long we could've sailed." Nodding again, the trio realized that although Henry had about the same expertise as Red at navigating, he was more familiar with how it worked. Scratching his chin, Bede thought for a moment and then came up with an idea.

"Well, while we're here, we should try and see if we can restock our food supply. And we should check farther inland for more people. We only checked the outer edges, maybe the people retreated farther inland to avoid flooding." Nodding, the group agreed. Gathering bags for possible foods, they began their trek into the island.

As the tree's thickened around them, a rank, semi permeable mist began to form. At first, they were unsure of what was causing it to form until Red sank halfway into the ground. When he sank, there was immediate yelling, and it took a few seconds of panicking to figure out that Red wasn't sinking anymore. As realization dawned on them, they began to pull Red out of the mud. As the mud finally released him, a small cloud of the mist puffed out of the ground, smelling very much like the air around them. Miles sharply inhaled, "So that's where the smell comes from." Bede explained further, "This must be some kind of bog, or swamp. The ground around here is very unstable, so we should be very careful." As they began to walk again a low creaking sounded through the forest, causing Henry to nearly jump out of his skin, and sending his hair on end. "What the hell was that!?" he said, almost in a whimper. Looking back, Red chuckled, "That was just the wind blowing through the trees, its fine." He saw that his words didn't calm Henry, so he just continued walking, knowing Henry wouldn't want to get lost in a place like this.

As they walked, the trail began to take a noticeable incline, sloping up towards the top of the island. When they turned their heads to try and see the top of the island, they heard a short gasp behind them as Miles fell into the brush. As they went to check on him, they heard his voice coming out of the bushes, "It's alright, I just tripped." Shaking his head, Red replied, saying, "Well get up then, we need to get going," to which Miles replied, "Hold on, I think I dropped my sword somewhere." Raising his eyebrow, Red began to approach the bush, saying, "Well we can help you find it if you want, we're in no rush," but Miles stopped him in his tracks, hurriedly saying, "It's fine, I'll find it in a little bit. Go on ahead, I'll catch up with you." Nodding, Red shouldered his bag and motioned the other two to follow. A minute later, Miles rejoined the group, brushing off some dust, and they continued.

Although it had appeared to be a small island, it was still a long walk, and sinking into the mud every so often didn't help, either, a couple of times losing a shoe and having to take extra time to reclaim it. Other than that, the walk went by uneventful. But as they were walking across a small ridge, that calm was broken. As they walked across the ridge, the ground crumbled and caved in on itself, sending Bede wheeling and falling off the side. Miles reached out to catch him, but just barely, and the grip was not firm enough and Bede's hand slipped out of Miles' as he tumbled into the small valley below.

Rushing to the edge, Miles leaped down, and began his own slide down the hill, calling back, "I'll go and get Bede and make sure if he's OK! You two go on ahead!" Shrugging, they let Miles go ahead, knowing that this was a good course of action, they began the climb again, but just as they took their first steps, Henry slipped and nearly took the tumble, too, had it not been for Red catching him. After a struggle, Red pulled Henry back onto the path, with Henry bending over and panting, more from fear than anything.

Wiping the sweat off his brow, Henry whistled, "Wow, thanks for the save, that was cl- What the hell is that?" Interrupting himself, he crouched down next to the caved in ground. Raising an eyebrow, he took from the pile of dirt what appeared to be a stick tied to another stick, with the latter being broken. Confused, Red asked Henry why it was important, with Henry replying, "Look, you see this rope? That doesn't occur in nature. Somebody knotted it like that and placed it there, and from what I can see, with the intent to have someone tumble away like Bede." As the realization dawned on Red's face, another realization appeared in his mind, "So you're saying that there is someone on this island who is looking to kill us, and Miles just ran off and has no idea about this?" Henry gulped and nodded, the fear alight in his eyes, "Yep, that is exactly what it means."

After a quick discussion, they decided that there was no better option then to go up the island still, considering that's where Miles and Bede would meet them. And so, the two continued their trek, except this time, a little more cautious. After another few hours of walking, the two managed to find their way to the top of the mountain - and find absolutely nothing. It was growing dark and they had not seen a single sight of either Miles or Bede. So either they were still in the woods below, or Miles had taken Bede back to the ship because of injuries. Either way, they had to stay there, because they didn't know what creatures were in the swamp below.

As they tried to find a place suitable for shelter, they noticed a faint glow coming from the rocks. It had now become fully night and it stuck out like a sore thumb. After a few minutes of investigation, they managed to find the entrance to a cave, hidden behind some rocks, with the source of the light being a small torch hung on the wall. Seeing this, they realized that whoever was on this island had either been there for hours, or had snuck in while they weren't looking. They decided to go with the less terrifying option that he had been there for hours, and Red, with a fearful Henry following, decided to go in to investigate.

Holding the torch out in front of them, Red led the way into the cave. Making their way through, they began to see many child-like drawings in what appeared to be red paint, with some being like different types of boats, and others being simple drawings of people. But prevalent in each of the drawings was one word: escape. As they finally made it out of the stone corridor, and past the creepy drawings, they quickly realized that it hadn't been red paint. In front of them, lay a massive pile, but it wasn't a pile of stone as one would expect in a cave, but instead it was a pile of dead animals. As they stared on in horror, they began noticing more and more details: the eyes being gouged out, long strips of fur cut off their backs, and several slashes in the stomach which spilled its contents.

As they tried their hardest to hold their lunches in, which was especially hard considering they had no idea what Bede had put in that time, they turned away from the gore and were shocked to see Bede tied up against the wall. Rushing over to him, Red tore out his gag, saying, "Bede, what the hell are you doing here? Where's Miles?" To which Bede simply nodded his head in the general direction, which they turned to see Miles with his back against a dead wolf, bound, gagged, … and completely naked. "Hey Miles, what're you doing here?" Flabbergasted, Henry shouted at Red, "How the hell can you talk nonchalantly to him while he's naked!?" Red shouted in reply, "Maybe because I'm more freaked out over the pile of dead animals!" Henry nodded, realizing that Red's logic was pretty sound, but was interrupted by Bede, who said in a worried voice, "You guys got to get us out of here, we have no idea where the hell he is," when he saw the confused looks, wondering who he was referring to, he continued, "We don't know who he is, but he can somehow morph into us. Miles wasn't with us after he tripped. It was that guy." Even more confused, Red questioned further, wondering how he knew that, "When I was falling, do you remember how Miles caught me? Well, when he did, I looked him in the face, and he smiled, in such a sinister way that I knew it wasn't him. Then he let go."

Red gulped, and began untying Bede, realizing how little time they had. As he got the first not undone, he asked Bede, "Where is he right now, do you know." But as he said it, a gravely laugh filled the cavern, and he turned to face the tall, lanky figure filling the entryway. A tongue darted out of his mouth to lick a pair of stained red lips, which formed into a smile. "I'm right here."
