It has been fifty-seven years since the execution of the Second Pirate King, Monkey D. Luffy, and he has left a legacy in his wake so great that some say he was more legendary than the First King, Gol D. Rogers. But like the last Pirate King, at his execution, he told the world that he had again hidden the One Piece for the world to find. Many saying it was the start of the next Age of Piracy, but then, war broke out among two families: The Monkey family and the Cobra family. After four decades of bloodshed, the war finally subsided. And nineteen years later, a member of the Cobra family set out on a quest to obtain the One Piece, his name is Cobra D. Red. P.S. I wonder how many people actually read this paragraph every time.
Get Miles Back! The Attack Begins
Intro: /Ob3ul4QL22U
"We should be able to see the island in about five minutes!" Henry shouted from his position at the helm. Looking forward, Red and the rest of the crew stared expectantly forward. From Henry's story, they only knew that there was a burly man and a cloaked person on their crew and nothing else. Red didn't have any info on them, either, because he had never decided to hunt them. This rescue would be a near-complete shot in the dark. Thankfully, the storm had finally dissipated so it was smooth sailing.
That is, until the Sea King attacked.
Rearing its head out of the water, it roared mightily, causing the boat to tremble. It looked somewhat like a sheep, but it had fangs jutting out from its mouth. Screaming, Rana and Henry fell to the deck, terrified at the sudden appearance. Grabbing the railing to stay steady, Bede looked at Red, exclaiming, "Of all the times, why now!" Glaring up at the Sea-Sheep, Red didn't even turn to look at Bede, instead shouting, "We were closer to Reverse Mountain at Yoro, but sailing here has put us closer to the Calm Belt, a breeding grounds for beasts like this." Having never sailed on the seas before, Bede wasn't sure what Red was talking about, but decided to go with it.
Roaring again, the Sea-Sheep made its impatience known, as its tail whipped out of the water and went for a downward arc on the ship. Reacting almost immediately to the ship's danger, Henry grabbed the Thunder Hammer and ran towards the stairs. Swinging it as he leaped from the stairs, Henry shouted, "No way in hell am I letting you hurt this ship! Thunder Cannon: Blast!" But, once again, he forgot to load it and a big cloud of smoke burst out of it. Leaping forward, Bede shouted at Henry, "You idiot!" and threw a punch, smacking the tail aside and back into the water. Gulping from where he sat on the deck, Henry wiped his forehead, saying, "Thanks Bede, I thought I was gonna die."
Roaring again at its attack being foiled, the Sea-Sheep opened its maw, and lunged at the ship, hoping to bite it in half. Clenching his fist, Red shouted at the Sea-Sheep, "Not on my watch! Jet!" Blasting from the deck, Red flew through the air and right at the Sea King's face. Time slowed down as Red glared into its eyes, causing a noticeable sweat drop to appear. But that's all it got as Red punched it between the eyes. Rearing back, it let out one last groaning roar as it slammed back into the sea. Landing on the deck, Red rubbed his hands, smiling. "Well, that's that!"
"You broke a hole in the ship, jackass!" Turning, Red saw Henry kneeling down next to the place Red had used as a springboard, and there was an obvious hole. Red was about to retort that the Sea King would've done more damage, but Rana clocked the two in the head before they could argue. Sighing, Rana waited until the two were done griping before pointing at the horizon, where they quickly followed her finger. An island had popped up over the horizon, obviously while they were busy dealing with the Sea-Sheep. Seeing she had gotten their attention, Rana asked, "So, is that the island we're looking for?" Nodding, Red's face turned serious as they looked on at where Miles was being kept.
-With Bartholomew-
Jim was relaxing on the porch, basking in the sun as he sat in his folding chair. He'd occasionally take a sip from his tea as he'd read through the latest news. Some skirmishes between the Monkeys and Marines, stuff about another shitty pirate alliance being taken down, Alabasta not responding to the World Government. Nothing new. The only real interesting thing was one of the Schichibukai being killed by a Yonko. Apparently, according to the article, the Warlord had tried to attack the Yonko, only to be taken down in the process. Finishing the article, he folded the newspaper and set it aside as he leaned back in his chair. Chuckling, he thought aloud, "So they're down a Warlord now, huh," he said, wondering about the chance of him being invited.
But his concentration was broken as one of the crewmembers ran towards him, a look of panic on his face. "Captain! We've got trouble!" he shouted, quickly nearing him. Leaning forward again, Jim glared at him, annoyed that he had interrupted his nap. Panting, the pirate came to a stop in front of him, doubled over and breathing heavily. Irritated, Bartholomew spat out, "Well, what is it? What trouble do we have?" Sputtering, the pirate, starting speaking, taking a breath in every other word, "Sir… the Cobra Pirates… are here!" As he said the last words, the small crowd that had formed began to murmur, wondering what they were going to do.
Standing up, Jim glanced around the crowd, looking for something in particular. Pointing at one of the crew members, he barked an order, telling him to hand the runner his water. Passing it over, the runner gulped it down, giving a nod of thanks. Sitting back down, the Captain waved his hand for a further explanation. Nodding, the runner began speaking, "So, I was out with the lookout boat, and we were about to make our last circling around the island when a ship came out of the storm. We were about to attack it ourselves, but then a Sea King popped its ugly head out of the water, and we decided to let it deal with our trespasser.
"But the stupid thing got knocked out by a guy on board! We were trembling in our boots, thinking what kind of monster would be able to knock out another monster, and that's when we saw his face. It was unmistakable from his poster. It was Cobra D. Red! And so, we turned tail and rowed back to the island and I ran to tell you, and I did, and here we are now."
Finished with his story, he looked back up at the captain, obviously expecting a response. Jim, just sat there, staring into space for a few seconds. Blinking a few times, he shook his head as he managed to get a hold of himself. Looking down at the runner, he replied, "Well, what I got from your story, is that this guy is strong. So, go inform the men, especially Addison and Butch. Tell them to prepare for a fight. And you," he said, pointing at the runner, "Bring me Buredo. I've got a special job for him." Knowing what was to come, the crewmember smiled, saying, "You got it, boss," and ran off to get Miles.
Sitting down in his chair again, leaning back and smiling. Oh, who gives a shit if he took down a Sea King, he thought, obviously amused, Thanks to Addison, we ate Sea King for dinner last week, although, I am getting a bit sick of the leftovers.
All I know is that Cobra better have a game plan if he hopes to beat me! And with that, he settled into his chair, falling asleep immediately.
-With Red-
As the ship got closer and closer to the island, Red cracked his knuckles in anticipation, a smile growing on his face. He knew this mission was about rescuing Miles, but he couldn't wait to fight the ones who took him. They must be pretty strong to have taken Miles so easily, he thought. As he faced the island, he felt someone tap him on the shoulder and he turned to see Bede, a look of concern on his face. Without moving, Red asked, "What's up? Still concerned that Miles not really be on our crew?" Shaking his head, Bede responded, "No, I'm just wondering if you have a plan for beating these guys. They seem to be pretty strong." Chuckling, Red smiled, "I know, isn't it exciting?"
Raising an eyebrow and a disciplinary finger, Bede said, "I know that look, Red. You better not be thinking what I think you are." Leaning against the railing, Red grabbed one of the low hanging ropes to stay steady. Looking at Bede, he smiled, punching him on the shoulder, saying, "Don't worry, we've got this! I don't know about you, but Miles isn't the only strong one on this crew." Nodding Bede knew that Red was right, that they were just as strong as Miles, if not stronger. But something still irked him about his whole thing, like some missing piece to complete the puzzle of their demise.
Walking away from Red, he lost in his own thoughts again. Taking a chance look to the right, he saw just in time the enemy ship before it fired on them. Cannonballs racing over the sea, they whistled through the air as they approached the ship like a bullet. Five of them had lucky misses, either sailing above their heads or slamming into the sea. But two of them hit, knocking a post away from the railing and ripping through one of the sails. As the waves from the balls rocked the ship, the crew stumbled around. Staggering to a halt, Henry glared at the other ship, fuming as he reached for his Hammer. Hefting it in the air, he shouted over the water, "I loaded it this time, bastards!" Swinging it through the air, sparks flew as the Thunder Cannon was ignited, blasting the air and sending a wave of force towards the enemy ship.
As it hit, the sails billowed sideways as the force spread out. The mast leaned with them, pulling the ship and bending until finally, it couldn't take it anymore, and snapped. Splitting in half, the now-broken mast let out a horrendous sound that nearly broke Henry's heart. He had grown up learning about ships and their functions and now he was forced to cripple one. But he knew it was more important to worry about the safety of his own ship rather than the safety of the other ship. Besides, they had aimed to sink their ship while he had merely made theirs hard to move.
Looking up at Henry from where he stood on the deck, Red smiled at him and gave him a thumbs-up, "Nice shot!" Glancing at him, Henry nodded, gulping as he tried to steady his heart rate. From where they were, they could hear the sounds of panic as the crew rushed around, trying to sort out their mess. Calling over to Henry, Red said, "Hey, we should get a move on!" This time, Henry responded a little more firmly, by running over to the tiller and swinging the ship back towards the island. As they sailed past, they saw some men come to the realization that they were sailing away, but it was too late. Their ship was much faster than theirs in the water, and they had already gotten out of their range within seconds.
Finally, sand grating as the ship hit the shore, they had reached the island. Leaping over the side, Red landed in the sand with a thud, coming up and waving for the others to follow. Turning to face the island, Red listened as the sounds of three other people landed behind him, and he smiled even wider. Cracking his knuckles again, Red looked up the shore, seeing a wall and gate barring their entrance. But he knew the real walls were beyond the gate, and they were more than likely shaped like people. Don't worry Miles, he thought, as he and the others began to run towards the gate, We've come to get you!
-With Miles-
Miles sat in a dark room, having been moved to the house, and he couldn't move. He sat in a chair, his arms pressed against the rests, his feet pressed against the legs. He was sweating from trying so hard to move. But he couldn't. And the weird part was, there were no shackles. Save for a collar around his neck that he could feel pressing into his skin. As he hung his neck in defeat, sweat pouring down his face, all he could think was:
Red… stay away.
