Chapter 11 - History Repeats

Green was lounging on the couch, staring up at the ceiling as the TV roared in the background. He had absolutely nothing to do – Maria was at school for another two hours, Red was at work till six and Green had finished cleaning the house an hour ago.

He had nothing to do.

Green frowned and sighed loudly, trying his best to not shout in anger. He needed something other than cleaning the house. He really needed a job or something – sitting here wasting the day away was not for him. Green sat up and stared at the TV; a show about Pokémon facts was playing and currently was talking about grass types. Green scoffed. Were Pokémon trainers now-a-days too lazy to learn all this information on their own?

"Figures, I mean, weak and inferior people always do depend on the smarter and stronger for support," Green spat out, irritated at the thought of people not taking Pokémon training seriously and depending on a TV show for information. He stood up and stretched his body out. Maybe he could go for a walk to blow some time instead of watching this pointless TV shows that entertained lesser minded people.

Green went into his room and grabbed a small sleek black scarf and his winter jacket, making sure that he wouldn't be freezing his ass off on this walk. It was still kinda snowy and wet out and Green wasn't too thrilled about winter – it always reminded him of the sad lonely Christmas' he had every year as a child. His parents would be off on vacation by themselves, his sister would be at a friend's house – and Green was all by himself.

Green sighed as he curled up by the warming glows of the fireplace – it was Christmas Eve and he was all alone. No one would be here to celebrate the cold evening with him. Green was nine years old and was supposed to be in bed by now but he figured it didn't matter – no one would be here to punish or yell at him anyways.

Green stood up and picked up the blanket he had been curling up with and went and laid down on the couch. He was tired and decided to wait up for Santa to come – he wanted to talk to Santa and ask him for one gift.

It wasn't to have the best toy in town or even have his fist Pokémon. He just wanted to have someone, mainly his family, spend this joyous holiday with him. Green felt his eyelids start to flutter and he rubbed his eyes in a vain attempt to stay awake. Just as he was about to pass out, the doorbell rang.

Green sprung to his feet and charge directly at the door – Had Santa answered his wish? Had Santa given him what he always wanted? Green slowly opened the door, anticipating his parents and his sister to be standing there, ready to celebrate the holiday as a whole family.

But Green was greeted by someone else. It was Red.

Red was standing with a cheery smile on his face. His raven-colored hair seemed to explode from under his snow cap. His cheeks were flushed slightly, showing he had been outside for a while. Green raised an eyebrow.

"What do you want, Red?" Green asked as he leaned against his door. Red smiled brightly.

"Wanna come out and play with me? My mom and I are building an igloo and we know that you're by yourself… so we wanted to know if you wanted to spend the night with us as well," Red asked, sneezing halfway through his sentence. Green rolled his eyes and roughly grabbed Red's arm, dragging Red into his house. He forced Red to sit by the fire.

"Warm up for a bit, stupid! You're gonna end up getting sick!" Green hollered out. Red laughed meekly and scratched the back of his head, causing Green to huff. Red smiled at Green. Green rolled his eyes and marched up the stairs to his room.

"When I'm done getting dressed and you've warmed yourself we can head back out and help your mom with that igloo," Green hollered down to Red. Seconds later he heard Red cheer in reply. Green rolled his eyes. Red got way too excited over the smallest things. Green quickly changed into his winter outfit and raced down stairs.

He wasn't going to admit it to anyone – but he was extremely happy that Red had come over to his house. Green hated being alone – it made him feel like his own family hated him. Green smiled brightly at Red who was still by the fireplace. Red smiled back and Green blushed a bit. Green plopped down next to Red accidently landing his hand on Red's. Green was about to move his hand out of embarrassment but he realized that Red hadn't flinched or anything – it was as if he had no idea Green was holding his hand. Green bit his lip.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to leave his hand there for a bit. Green relaxed his shoulders and sighed with a slight smile plastered on his face. Red glanced over and smiled causing Green to blush a bit.

"Ready to head out and build an igloo with me and my mom, Green? Red chimed out. Green smiled. He was more than ready – he was ecstatic. Green grasped Red's hand and pulled him up, leading him to the front door. Red laughed. Green grinned.

This, by far, was the best Christmas Eve's he ever had.

Green leaned against a nearby pole in total dismay. He had totally forgotten about the year Red had come over and took him out to build an Igloo – hell they even went sled riding too. Green chuckled lightly at his childhood memories as they started to drift back into his head. He and Red sure did hang out a lot when they were younger.

Green sighed as he lifted off the pole and started down the path again. He really missed his childhood – he may not have had the perfect childhood but all his moments he had with Red were special. Red was his best friend – Red was always there for him no matter what.

And what did Green do to repay that? Ditched him for assholes years later. Green sighed. If only he had realized what Red really meant to him then maybe he wouldn't have ended up as an egotistical Jackass. Green looked up and realized he had walked straight to Simisear Bakery.

"Old Habits die hard," Green chuckled to himself as he entered the bakery like he did almost every day. Dylan, the Baker, was leaning bored on the counter until he noticed Baker's eyes lit up and a huge mischievous grin planted itself onto the Baker's face. Green rolled his eyes and crossed his arms – his usual greeting to the Baker.

"Well if it isn't my favorite customer, Green!" The Baker cooed out with a wink. Green scoffed in an overdramatic manner to emphasize his joking tone. The Baker laughed in response.

"How have you been, Green?" The baker asked as he leaned down onto the counter with both his hands on his face. Green smiled.

"I've been good – I'm just bored as hell!" Green spat out, irritated at being cooped up all the time. The baker let out a whistle.

"Damn, sounds boring as hell if you ask me," The Baker spat out sarcastically. Green huffed and smacked the Baker's one arm down, causing him to face plant off the counter. Green laughed to himself while the Baker held his face, cursing Green to hell. Green held his stomach as it growled, causing the Baker to instantly glare daggers of greed at him.

"You hungry?" The baker spat out. Green scratched the back of his head in embarrassment as he held his stomach gently.

"Maybe a little…"

(POV Change: Dylan, the Baker)

"Maybe a little?" Dylan spat out in a hush tone. Did Green really not hear how loud his stomach had growled? Dylan turned around and started prepping the usual for Green. Green sat down at the nearest table and put his head down. Dylan glanced over and laughed.

"You sure are a riot, Green," Dylan whispered to himself. Dylan stretched his arms above his head and sighed loudly. It was only around one O'clock in the afternoon and he was already in need of a nap. Dylan pressed and rolled out some dough as the cherry glaze boiled away. He glanced up at Green.

Green was currently passed out cold on the one table. Dylan chuckled to himself as he crossed his arms.

"You've sure changed, Green…" Dylan mumbled out as he went back to finishing up the usual order. As Dylan was working he let his thoughts drift back to Green and he sighed. He put down his wooden spoon and plopped down in a nearby chair. It really bothered him.

Green didn't remember him at all – and Green was the one who had inspired him to open up his own bakery and do everything he had done. Dylan leaned on the counter pouting slightly.

Green was the person who changed his life around. Dylan stood up and sighed.

"Oh well, its not like it matters if he remembers me or not – I'm still his friend … or at least I think so," Dylan dryly laughed as he finished Green's order. He walked over to Green and gently placed the box goods onto the table. Dylan smiled fondly at Green's sleeping face.

"It's good to see you're doing well…" Dylan thought to himself. He leaned down towards Green and kissed Green on the forehead. When he pulled back he thankfully saw Green was still sleeping. Dylan sighed and flicked Green in the forehead hard. Green jumped awake and glowered at the Baker.

"Ouch! What the fu-"

"Food is ready! And it's on the house – no 'buts' about it!" Dylan chimed out playfully. Green rolled his eyes and took a bite of his food. Dylan walked behind the counter and started to wipe down his stations. Dylan glimpsed over at Green.

"I'm happy you've finally found true happiness, Green."

(POV Change: Green)

Green waved bye to the Baker and made his way back to his house. As he was walking back, it started to storm badly, causing snow to flutter and cover everything. Green angrily marched through the snow as it quickly started to pile against the ground.

"God Damnit!" Green hollered out, pissed off at mother nature's cruel sudden middle finger. Green huffed. He was freezing his ass off. Green noticed a nearby Pokemart and stopped in to warm up. He rubbed his arms as he entered the small building. Inside he noticed the cashier was wearing a mask and has red circles lightly standing against her face. Green raised an eyebrow.

She looked like the other people he had run into the other day in the shady looking part of town. Green walked towards the coffee area and started to pour himself some warming hot chocolate. Green was slightly embarrassed because he was a grown man pouring himself hot chocolate. When Green was very little, he'd always drink hot chocolate – it was his absolute favorite drink. And he wasn't going to stop drinking hot chocolate any time soon. Green sniffed the aroma that waved from the drink, mentally sighing as his shoulders relaxed – the scent alone warmed his freezing body.

Green went to take a sip until he noticed two young hooligans walk into the store. The walked straight to the cashier and glowered at her. The cashier's light blue eyes widen and her eyebrows went up.

"T-There anything I can get you or help you with?" She asked in a hushed fearful tone. The fatter of the two hooligans scoffed and slammed down a broken pokeball. She jumped slightly as the two hooligans glared at her.

"If you hadn't have sold me this cheap sorry excuse of a pokeball, I could have been the proud owner of a shiny Pichu!" The fat hooligan shouted, slamming his hands down on the counter, causing a huge scene. The cashier tried to talk but was interrupted.

"Yeah! You probably fuckin' messed with the damn thing – you damn infected people are nothing but tra-" was all the thin hooligan got out before scolding hot coffee was poured all over his head. The thin hooligan yelped in pain while the fatter one turned to face Green – only to be met by Green's famous 'Don't-Fuck-with-me-or-I'll-fucking-fuck-you-up" glare. The fatter hooligan backed up and ran out as the thinner hooligan chased after him.

The cashier glanced up with tearful eyes. Green patted her gently on the head.

"Don't let them walk all over you – you're a normal person. You don't deserve to be treated like shit," Green spat out irritated. He placed down his hot chocolate and watched as she hastily rung it up.

"A D-dollar fifty." She mumbled out. Green gently placed the money into her hand and walked out of the store.

"T-thanks a lot!" she yelled. Green smiled.

"No problem!"

Green started back to his house trying his best to get there as fast as possible – but the damn snow wasn't letting up one bit. Green eventually got to his street and the snow by then had settled down leaving only four feet of snow on the ground. Green sighed in a defeated manner – he wanted it to nice and warm out! Green was about to enter his house when all of a sudden a storm of snowballs hit him. Green turned around in shock and was greeted by Red and Maria, standing next to each other, armed with snowballs. Green's mouth dropped while Red and Maria snickered to themselves.

"What are you two doing home early?!" Green spat out in shock. Red gently placed his snowballs onto the ground and leisurely walked up to Green, placing his arms around Green's neck. Green's face bloomed into a bright red color as Red neared his lips. Red stared lustfully at Green's lips, leaning in.

"I was just really lonely…" Red whispered, breathing gently onto Green's neck, causing chills to race down Green's back. Green rolled his head to the side, enjoying Red's taunting behavior until he remembered Maria was there. He pushed Red to the ground. Green couldn't believe he almost got lost in the moment.

"I get it! Geeze!" Green shouted. Red laughed while Maria just chuckled. Green snatched one of Red's snowballs up and smashed it into Red's face. Red stopped laughing while Maria roared with laughter and Green stood smugly above Red. Red wiped the snow off his face and leered towards Green.

"Game on, Green!"

Green laughed as Red stumbled to his feet, hastily grabbing a snowball. Red chased after Green while Green bolted around the house to his backyard garden. Maria chased after the two and watched as the two duked it out over a snowball fight. After a few minutes, Red and Green had tired themselves out and Maria was sitting on the garden bench, laughing to herself.

"Mr. Green and Mr. Red, you're both really funny! She laughed. Green smiled smugly at Red. Red would never admit it but Green totally won this war. Red glanced over and smiled lovingly at Green, mouthing, "I love you" to Green. Green bit his lip and mouthed back, "I love you, too".

Maria gently tapped Green on the arm. Green patted her on the head and smiled.

"Yes, Maria?" Green asked, tilting his head to the side. Maria was shyly playing with her gloves as she glanced up at Green with puppy dog eyes. Green's eyes widen. Was something wrong? Green bent down to her level and watched her face intently.

"Can we build an igloo? Please? I've never built one before and we'll never get a chance to if we let all this snow melt away!" Maria whined. Green raised an eyebrow and looked over at Red who was smiling. Red stood up and walked over, bending down to Maria's level.

"I'd certainly love to build an igloo!" Red chimed out enthusiastically. Red glanced over at Green and smiled.

"Green, are you going to help me and Maria build an igloo?

"Wanna come out and play with me? My mom and I are building an igloo…"

Green smiled and patted Maria on the head along with Red. He stood up and stretched his back out, before answering the two. He glanced down at Maria and Red and smiled again.

"Yeah, I'd love too,"
