Summary: Set in 3x10 "Dad." What if Angel decided to do something to keep his baby safe? What if his best option was a particular brunette vampire?
Angel stood in the lobby, creatures outside debating on who would attack first, as they tried to figure out a plan on what to do. Then he had an idea.
"This won't work," Angel stated.
"Sure, it will," Wes replied.
"Not the weapon. The plan. I'm gonna go. Take him somewhere safe," he replied.
As Angel grabbed his black bag with the arm that wasn't holding his baby son, Cordy walked up to him.
"You didn't hear a word I said earlier, did you?"
He looked at her.
"I heard you. Look, I know someone that can keep him safe. She knows how to hide from anything and anyone. I'll call you when we're safe. Just hold them off as long as you can. Once they see he isn't here, they'll come after me," he replied.
Cordy wondered who he was talking about, but decided to ask him at a later date when they weren't facing imminent danger.
"Be careful," she replied.
Angel left the Hyperion, heading to the sewers, knowing exactly who to go to for help.
Once he'd gone as far as he could in the sewers, he used a car with black tinted windows, knowing he couldn't walk everywhere. Then he called a familiar someone.
Katherine Pierce was enjoying herself in a luxury hotel, when her phone rang. Wondering who would be interrupting her meal, she answered it, not looking at the caller ID.
"Whoever you are, this better be worthy of my time. I'm in the middle of a meal."
"It's me," he replied.
"Angel," she said with a smile, but also a shocked face. "What could possibly have you reaching out to me?"
"I have an urgent situation. I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important. Where are you? I'll come to you," he answered her.
"I'm in New York. I'll text you the address to my hotel," she replied, hearing the seriousness in his voice.
When Angel arrived at her door and she let him in, he could smell the aftermath of her latest meal, despite her having cleaned up. Soul or not, he was still a vampire with a heightened sense of smell.
Once she was seated on the couch, Angel seated in a recliner chair in front of her, they began their conversation.
"What's with the baby?" she asked, before eyeing the child.
"There's a prophecy, which seems to have come true. There were a few times one night with Darla and I. A supernatural lawfirm brought her back as a human, but Dru turned her back into a vampire. Vampires aren't supposed to have children, but this prophecy came true. Darla killed herself to save him. I promised her that I'd keep him safe."
"Why do you need my help? You've made it so far with your son," she wanted to know.
"Because everything and everyone is after him. In this prophecy, my son is supposed to be responsible for some kind of evil. I can't protect him by myself. I know this is a lot to ask, but you know better than anyone how to always be one step ahead. You can help me hide him," Angel answered.
When she heard everything from Angel, her heart softened a little. One day old and the poor thing already had enemies. That, and he'd lost his mother. This made her want to protect him.
"What's his name?" she asked.
"Connor."
"I'll help you protect Connor. You get some rest. I'm sure you probably haven't selpt."
"I have to call a friend first. I told her I'd call when we were safe," he informed her.
"Call her. I'll get some stuff Connor will need."
Cordy was at home, when she got a call from Angel.
"Angel, where are you?" she asked.
"I can't say. We're safe in New York. I got in contact with her. She's going to help. Are you all okay?"
"We are. You were right. They left us alone when they saw Connor wasn't there. I'm safe at home. When will you be back?"
"Cordy, all I can say is I'm safe and one phone call away. Don't worry. I'll be back when I can, but I need to stay as long as Connor needs me to. Katherine will make sure we're both safe. I can't say that you looking will be a good idea, though. Katherine's a vampire, but more or less different. She cares a great deal about children and people she cares about. Humans just aren't that safe around her."
"So, you're saying I'm in charge while you're gone. Just don't make a mistake with this Katherine. I'll try to be here when you get back."
"Pretty much, yeah," he replied.
After the phone call with Cordy, he went to bed as Katherine had said, trusting Katherine to keep Connor safe.
The next day, they packed and took Connor with them. And so, for several years, until Connor didn't need him, Angel stayed with Kat. Then, after it was all said and done, he went back to LA, which was where he continued the business with Cordy.
