Chapter 8 Thank You for Saving Him
Fischl's POV
I was at the Adventure Guild's reception desk, when a man walked up to me. I recognised him as one of Bennett's fathers; the one who had asked me to find him on Dragonspine.
"Hello Fischl", he greeted.
"Greetings, father of my beloved", I greeted, before suddenly breaking character. "How is Bennett doing? Is he okay?"
"He's still recovering", Bennett's father revealed. "But he'll be okay."
"Thank goodness", I said, before deciding to get back into character. "I mean…what a relief that the inflictions of his curse did not cause more harm than you feared."
After I said this…Bennett's father suddenly grabbed onto my hands.
"Fischl", he started. "Thank you so much for saving Bennett. Me and the rest of his dads owe you so much."
When I heard this, I smiled.
"Thank you", I said, before suddenly getting back in character. "I mean, you need not apologise, for that boy has now become my beloved, and how could I let my beloved die?"
"Well", Bennett's father started. "I'm glad that you and Bennett are officially a couple now. He had the biggest smile on his face when he told me."
"Really", I asked as my cheeks turned pink. "I mean…but of course! Who would not be happy to be chosen to be the beloved of the Prinzessin der Verurteilung?"
"By the way", Bennett's father started, changing the subject. "I'm not sure if you know this, but Bennett's birthday is coming up."
"Bennett's birthday", I repeated.
"Well…kind of", Bennett's father started. "His birthday is actually on the 29th of February, but that only comes around once every four years, and me and the rest of his dads aren't going to wait that long to celebrate his birthday. Because of that, on non-leap years, we celebrate his birthday on the 28th instead."
"I see", I started. "Thank you for sharing this important piece of information with me."
"Well", Bennett's father started. "I'd better get going. Bye Fischl."
"Farewell, father of my beloved", I greeted.
Then Bennett's father left, and as soon as he did…I began panicking.
"What do I do, Oz", I asked. "It's not that long before Bennett's birthday! I need to think of a gift and fast!"
"Let me think", Oz started. "I know! What about an embroidered handkerchief?"
"I embroidered handkerchief", I repeated.
That's right. In the novel the character Fischl comes from, she embroidered a handkerchief and gave it to her love interest as a sign of her affection.
"That is an excellent idea, Oz", I started. "However…I have never embroidered anything before."
"Mein Fräulein", Oz started. "You are the Prinzessin der Verurteilung! Surely you shall not let something as simple as embroidery best you?!
When Oz said this…I got a sudden burst of confidence.
"You are right, my faithful companion", I stated. "I am the Prinzessin der Verurteilung! I shall not let such a simple task like this best me!"
