Part 1

It felt like it was only yesterday when young Hanrae met her future. Hanrae was a war orphan to the Leaf Village. After her parents were killed during the Nine Tails attack, she became a rebellious child. Not many could handle her, not even the Third Hokage. In this time, while on a mission, after graduating from the academy, Hanrae met some missing ninjas quickly making friends with them.

Later, in her teens, Hanrae continued to rebel, only getting worse. It came to the point she was shaming her comrades during missions and with that, she wound up being caught associating with missing nins. Lord Hokage had the difficult task of banishing her from the village. He didn't want to, but the elders of the village gave him no other choice. She was no longer trustable and that alone brought shame to the entire village.

After being exiled from the village, she fled from the Land of Fire, making her way to the Land of Rain. From associating with her criminal friends, she had an idea of where their hideout was. The second she had gotten close to the hideout of her friends, she was quickly ambushed by a tall man wearing an orange mask and a black cloak with red cloud patches. She could only see one eye.

"What are you doing here?" he demanded, in a deep voice.

Hanrae jumped, startled by the deep voice. She could see he wore the same clothing as her other friends. "I'm here to speak with those who call themselves the Akatsuki."

"For what reason?" he commanded.

"They are my friends and I have some information to give to them."

The man before Hanrae could see she wasn't afraid of him and stood up to him very well. Curious about her, he decided to toy with her a little. He had already heard many stories about her including how she had recently been banished from her home village. "You will then give me the message and if I feel it's worthy enough, I will relay the message. You are trespassing in our borders."

"Look, I don't have time for this," Hanrae snapped. "I have important information and it needs to be delivered."

The masked man took up into a defence position. She intrigued him but at the same time her defiance was bothering him. "I've already explained it to you. I don't like having to repeat myself. You're not to go any further and you will give me the information."

Hanrae huffed. "Fine, you annoying piece of crap! I want to join the Akatsuki."

The insult never fazed the man but it did spike his interest even more at the mention of her wanting to join. "Why?"

"Why?" Hanrae blinked. "Why, oh I don't know! Maybe it's because I've been banished from my village cause they found out I was leaking information to possible enemies."

"And yet you still wear your village's symbol upon your brow."

"My friends do as well but they defaced theirs by slicing a line through it. I have nothing for me back in the Leaf village. I wish to feel useful and alive. There in the village, I'm dying. The stupid Nine Tailed Fox killed my parents when I was really little and they let the one who bears the beast to live and now he's in the academy, soon to graduate."

"Ah yes, Naruto Uzumaki." Behind the mask the man grinned. "So you wish to join the Akatsuki. Well I should first let you know, to join you must fight me to see if you're worthy of being one."

"If that's the way it has to be, then so be it!" Hanrae was quick to get into a defence position but she wasn't in it long before he jumped up to attack her and she was quick to block with her leg. She then did a jump kick, trying to kick him in the head, he narrowly dodged it before swinging out with his fist to jab her in the stomach.

She fell to the ground, hissing in the pain.

"If you wish to defeat me, you can't let a punch in the ribs stop you," the masked man taunted. "You may be a woman, but I will treat any opponent the same no matter the gender."

For two hours they fought. During the course of the sparring match, she was able to get a good look of his one eye and saw he had a Sharingan. So either he was another surviving member of the Uchiha clan or he acquired the eye from someone else.

In time the masked man decided to call it quits and congratulated her for standing up to him. It was in that moment he allowed her to join the Akatsuki and gave his name as 'Tobi'. The young woman had several cuts and bruises and even a crack rib or two. Knowing she was in a little rough shape, he helped her back to the hideout.

Hanrae became a big part of the group since then, including becoming lovers to the masked man who she only knew as Tobi, though he kept himself well hidden from the rest of the Akatsuki members except for two, Pein and Konan. Several times Hanrae had seen Tobi's face, but she never knew his real name. She knew Tobi was an alias name to hide his true identity and purpose and she knew he was the real leader of the Akatsuki, which nearly no one else knew.

Three years after Hanrae joined the Akatsuki, she watched from the distanced as Tobi spoke with the remaining members of the Akatsuki. She couldn't believe how fast the Akatsuki were able to drop one by one so quickly in a short span. She had gotten to know all of them well, and now they were being killed. First it was Sasori by a pink haired Leaf Ninja who was trained by the Fifth Hokage. Kakuzu and Hidan also fell at the hands of the Leaf and finally Sasuke Uchiha killed Deidara.

As she continued to watch the man she cared for deeply, she began to feel something in her stomach. This had been going on now for a few days now and she couldn't figure out what the problem was. Luckily for her, Tobi had acquired a physician to work within the Akatsuki. This general practitioner was hired mainly to help with other medical problems that no one else could deal with.

Taking a deep breath, Hanrae turned away from the masked man and made her way inside to see the physician. The other day she went to the guy and had some tests done. He had told her the results wouldn't be ready for a couple days. Hopefully now the results were ready and she could find out what was wrong with her. She was hoping she only had the stomach flu.

Upon entering the room, she saw the doctor and he gave her a nod indicating he saw her. She nodded back and took a seat by the small desk that was in the room, resting in one corner. The room was simple with a table in the middle for people to lie down on.

"Is there anything?" she asked, breaking the silence.

"Actually there is," he responded. He then turned to her, holding a file folder.

"What do you mean?" Hanrae began to get nervous.

He looked at her. "Don't worry it's nothing too bad, at least I hope." He opened up the folder. "When was your last cycle?"

Hanrae blinked. "My last cycle?" She then blushed realizing what he meant. "Well let's see…" she slightly stuttered. "I think it was…sometime last month…" she paused and then her eyes widened into saucers. "Wh…what are you saying?" Her heart was beating a mile a minute.

The man sighed. "Well, there is no easy way to say it. You're pregnant."

Her entire heart fell into her stomach at those words. "I'm…I'm…what?!"

He nodded. "Yes. Pregnant." He didn't need to ask who the father was as everyone knew she was with Tobi, though for the longest time no one knew who she was with but after Sasori died at the hands of the female Leaf Ninja and Tobi became a member of the Akatsuki, the two were always seen together.

"No, this can't be…" she breathed. "We were careful."

"Well it would seem not careful enough. I recommend you to tell Tobi soon before things get really ugly. I believe he's planning something big."

Hanrae stood abruptly. "I…I can't deal with this right now!" She then rushed out of the room. She didn't know what to do or say. She was pregnant. She didn't have a flu virus; it was morning sickness she was dealing with. Getting pregnant was never something the two discussed or even thought of.

What was she going to say? Tobi would probably be angry at her for getting pregnant at this crucial time. She knew he was getting ready to wage war on the five great nations, though he was still quite a ways from actually announcing his plan.

For the next few days, Tobi noticed a change in Hanrae. It didn't take a genius to know something was wrong. She was quite moody a lot and Zetsu had informed him she was beginning to have strange cravings that didn't make any sense at all. Finally getting tired of it, Tobi decided to confront her about it.

"Hanrae," he called as he entered her room, which he could, unannounced. "We need to talk?"

"About?" she asked. She had yet to tell the man she was pregnant with his child and she had yet to figure a way to tell him.

"You're behaviour as of late," He began. "Zetsu has noticed it and so have I."

She frowned. "What behaviour?!" she snapped.

"That," he pointed. "You're obviously troubled about something. You're snapping at people for no reason and then suddenly start crying, which is unbecoming of you. What is going on?"

"Nothing," she replied, feeling a bit nervous, having a feeling he knew something. "I've just been having a bad day is all? That is allowed isn't it? I mean six months ago there were nine members to the Akatsuki with you hiding, making it 10 and now there's only four. And we all know Itachi is being hunted down by his brother."

"That was already in the plans since the day Itachi destroyed his clan. He has wanted his brother to hunt him down and kill him."

"Yes, I know," she answered.

"I don't believe you," the masked man replied. Hanrae had heard Tobi use a high pitch, loud voice, but he always used his deep one in front of her when in private and now he was nearly using it all the time when Itachi wasn't around.

"What do you mean you don't believe me!" she snapped.

"Exactly what I just said. Your behaviour doesn't match what you're saying," he stated. "You will tell me what is going on or I will go to the doctor and get the answers from him."

"What do you mean doctor's?" she asked.

"I know about your appointment you had the other day and I also know you've been having strange cravings as of late. And that has nothing to do with the members of the Akatsuki, dropping."

She lowered her head in defeat. "I don't know how to tell you," she answered quietly. "I thought I only had the flu or something. Turns out what I have is nothing contagious and don't worry I'm not dying." She took a deep breath, bringing her hands to her slim stomach. "I…" she paused before sighing in defeat. "I'm pregnant."

Tobi took a step back, shocked by her words. "What did you just say?" he asked, stunned.

"You heard me the first time," Hanrae snapped. "I missed my last cycle."

Tobi took a couple more steps back, taking it all in. It now made perfect sense. The sudden mood swings, rise in appetite, weird cravings, strange behaviour. It all gave the classic signs of pregnancy. His visible eye then narrowed. "Weren't you using caution?"

"Oh, so this is my fault is it?" Hanrae barked. "As I recall the last time we did it, you were a little impatient, so this is as much your fault as it is mine."

Tobi turned away from her a moment. This could very well put a wrench in his plans. But she was carrying his child, the next generation of Uchihas. He began to pace as he thought things through. She was with child now, meaning she couldn't be part of his plans, which was fine with him. He didn't want her to be part of it anyway. He knew soon Itachi would die by the hands of his brother and he had plans to manipulate Sasuke to do his bidding.

Hanrae watched the masked man, walk back and forth. With the mask covering his face, she couldn't tell what he was feeling. It didn't take long for his pacing to irritate her. Just as she about to open her mouth, he stopped and looked at her.

"Alright. We'll keep this quiet for now. You will just tell the others you're having an off day. Soon my charade will no longer be required."

Hanrae nodded. "So you want this baby?"

Tobi wanted to shout out 'yes' but then that would lead to more questions, which he wasn't ready to answer yet. She had no idea his name was really Obito Uchiha. She only knew him as Tobi and it was going to stay that way until his plans were put into motion and maybe even then he may not tell her. He was happy with her calling him Tobi. Obito Uchiha was dead by all accounts. The boy everyone once knew was dead and now stood a man with power and wanted revenge.

"That remains to be seen," he finally said. "For now, you're to go about your day as if you're going to have this child. I will make my decision later." His decision was already made. That child was his and would be born and be given his name.

For nearly three months Hanrae and Tobi kept it quiet about the pregnancy. In that time Itachi was finally killed and Tobi had Sasuke right where he wanted him. It was also at this time Pein finally drew his attention to the Hidden Leaf Village and tried to destroy them, but instead turned traitor and now was defeated and the entire village population was still alive, yet the buildings were destroyed.

"So Pein has failed, has he," Tobi said to himself. "Then it's time to push things up a bit. I'm sure with this, the Leaf will then call an alliance and if not them, then someone will. The Kages will come together and I will strike. Zetsu, be sure everything is ready."

"Of course, Tobi."

Both men felt someone come up behind them, which Tobi smiled. "Hello Hanrae, it's good to see you've finally joined us."

Zetsu was quick to notice her belly seemed to be a little bigger than the last time he saw her, which was a few weeks ago. "Is it just me or something changed?"

Hanrae blushed as she unconsciously place hand on her swelling belly. Tobi turned in her direction, giving her belly a look, knowing what it was. It was only a matter of time before Kisame and Zetsu were to figure it out unless they already did.

"So you've noticed have you?" Tobi asked.

"If I didn't know any better I would think she's pregnant," the white Zetsu replied.

"It's obvious that she is," snapped the black one. "Her hormones are acting up all the time. Her stomach is getting bigger and she's gaining weight."

Hanrae looked to Tobi for help, what was she to say?

"Enough," Tobi announced. "I will not have you speak about the mother of my child as if she's not here."

"Your child?"

Hanrae jumped, not expecting to see the Rain nin come up behind her. Not wanting to cause trouble, she stepped closer to Tobi.

Tobi turned to the man. "You heard correctly."

"I've been wondering what was going on and noticed her chakra levels have been going up and down lately."

"Before Itachi died, I noticed he seemed to look at her a lot," White Zetsu replied. "Did he suspect anything?"

"I'm sure he did," Tobi answered. "But you all know now and therefore I'll be putting extra caution and security."

"Tobi, you don't have to do that," Hanrae protested.

"Nonsense," Tobi said, taking a step towards her. "You have within you the next generation of Uchiha and I will not allow that to be disrupted.

Hanrae blinked. "What do you mean? Are you an Uchiha?"

"I am," Tobi admitted. "Why else would I have a Sharingan?"

"I don't understand. I knew it was possible you would be an Uchiha but I also thought you could have a Sharingan implanted like Kakashi Hatake."

At the mention of the copy ninja's name, Tobi's face turned sour. That man was going to pay for what he did. He killed their friend. "And he has my left eye," he again admitted. "Which I'm going to take back. He betrayed me and I'm going to take back what's mine." He knew Kakashi wouldn't have told anyone where he got his eye, especially those of the younger generation who never knew Kakashi before Obito's alleged death.

Composing himself, Tobi looked to his remaining members. "Besides you don't have to understand. All you need to know is what is going on now." He looked to the others. Zetsu already knew who he was but he wasn't sure if Kisame did but he didn't care what the former Mist ninja thought. "Alright, now here's the plan. A summit is going to happen and we are going to be there to greet the Kages. They will meet in the Land of Iron where the last summit was held. With Sasuke betraying us by giving us the wrong Eight Tails, we now must capture the real one and stop Sasuke."

"Are you going to kill him?" asked Kisame.

"No, not yet. He's to take out one other person who I'm sure with Tsunade out of the way, will take his position as Hokage as that's what he wanted since the day the Third Hokage was crowned," Tobi replied. "We're going to go to the summit meeting and capture the Eight Tails. You Kisame will infiltrate the Cloud Village and Zetsu, you'll be with me in retrieving Sasuke as well as being backup for Kisame."

"You can count on us being there," replied the dark Zetsu.

"Wait!" Hanrae interrupted. "Tobi, what about me? I'm a member of this group."

Tobi turned his single eye to his girlfriend. "You will remain here and take care of our child. I don't need you to be anywhere near the summit. A fight will ensue, no doubt, as Sasuke will work on hunting down the one who ordered his clan killed. Many will die and I can't afford your pretty face or my offspring to be in the middle of that."

"But…"

"No, Hanrae and that's final. You're to remain here and don't you damn well dare do anything stupid or I'll be sure to have you confide to my room until my return."

Though she didn't like how he was treating her, he did have a point. She was with child and even female ninjas who were pregnant were pulled off active duty to spend time with getting prepared for her child to be born. Children were important to any village, as they would be the next generation to take care of the village.

"Alright," she finally said. "I'll remain behind."

"Good. Now, let's move," Tobi announced. He looked at Hanrae, placing a gentle hand on her cheek. "I will return my love, I promise."

With that the three men left, rushing off towards their destination.
