Chapter 19: Chaosrealm

Things are not looking very good for the heroes. The Special Forces planned to keep the Black Dragon occupied and capture them while Alex and Cassie go to Chaosrealm to recover its Kamidogu. Unfortunately, Mateo, being more clever and more competent than Kano, planned ahead and threw them off the trail. Cassie was forced to destroy the base to keep Tasia and Tremor from taking it and she and Alex retreated to another base and made sure that they had no trackers. Along the way, they lost Kabal. A redeemed soldier who was willing to lay down his life for the greater good. As they recover from their loss and battles, they are forced to improvise and change their plans, as their enemy Shao Kahn is on the move.

Shao Kahn has been informed by Mateo, Tasia and Tremor on their mission being successful. He is rather actually impressed with the Black Dragon for once. Given the fact that they always lose to the Special Forces, he couldn't find himself to even tolerate them. "So. You have actually succeeded in your mission for once. I am impressed that you actually killed Kabal."

"Well serves the fucking douchebag right for killing my father by tkaing his head." Mateo said.

"And you two?" Shao Kahn turned to Tasia and Tremor. "What about Alex Cage and his wife Cassandra? They are still alive?"

"Just as you asked. They fled like whining dogs licking their wounds and crying from their lost home. We located your little toy in Chaosrealm." Tasia smirked.

"Good. No one touches them but me. They owe me Kombat. Now head to your closest base and await further instructions." Shao Kahn ordered them. They nod as they sign off. Daegon comes in holding dozens of Jinsei viles in his hands.

"Mavado and Seamus Lee have succeeded in their mission. Fujin is more gullible than I imagined." Daegon said.

"That's because they tend to believe that they would win every fight they get into. Fujin and especially Liu Kang. He may have been the Chosen One from the Old Era, but even he believes he is invincible." Shao Kahn stated.

"Even gods can be killed. I taught Mavado the necessary powers to overpower the likes of Fujin. The wind god only got lucky. Not to worry, though. With the jinsei, the Kamidogu will be more powerful." Daegon said as he holds them up.

"The jinsei always has its uses, no matter if in the right or wrong hands. Kronika and Geras were wise to use its power for the hourglass." Shao Kahn said as Mileena comes in with Tanya and Ferra/Torr.

"My favorite father. I have done what you have requested of me. The gullible Lin Kuei and arrogant monks were stupid enough and easily took the bait. The coast is clear for you." Mileena bows and giggles at the heroes expense.

"Well done, my daughter. Now it is time. Mileena. You are in command until I return. I must head to Chaosrealm and retrieve what is rightfully mine." Shao Kahn said. He gets up from his throne and grabs hold of his wrath hammer.

"Shall I send General Reiko and the others with you?" Mileena asked.

"No. Daegon has an idea for him and some others. I must make some arrangements with the Chaos Cleric himself. Whether he likes them or not." Shao Kahn chuckles. As he walks past them, he lifts his hand and it glows green. A green portal opens right in front of him and walks through without hesitating. The portal closes, leaving Mileena in charge.

"Things are all going according to plan. Oh, the excitement! It dwindles me! And I love it so much! The taste of Lin Kuei flesh just makes it even better!" Mileena starts laughing like a psychopath. Unknown to her, Daegon smirks to himself. But for what?

The green portal opens. Shao Kahn steps through and it closes behind him. He looks around and he finds himself in none other than Chaosrealm. The sky is dark green, and below the ground beneath Shao Kahn's feet is mythical green mist. Nothing but mild, creepy screams from below. Hearing such noise is like music to his ears. Around him are stone pillars that don't seem to have an end, from top to bottom as the sky and mist below are covering them. As Shao Kahn walks onto a straight path, he notices seven islands all floating nearly above his head as looks up. He is looking straight at the castle in the middle as rocks and parts of the earth form a giant staircase. Part of him wonders if they know he is here.

Shao Kahn, without hesitation, continues his path upwards and as he goes up, he hears more noise. He hears weapons clashing. As he made it to the surface of the fortress, he sees the other islands slightly below the one in the middle. He sees three islands on his left. On his left is a small village. They are filled with many Chaosrealmers that have many similar features like having a skull-like face, working and mumbling something under their breaths.

He sees warriors fighting in what seems to be a gladiator pit and another island with said warriors training with each other, albeit without mercy and seem to be savage as they fight relentlessly. To his right are three more islands, much to his surprise, a lot of resources for water. They seem to be obsessed with it or just have it by coincidence. He sees statues of what appears to be Clerics and Kings. They look less similar to the current King himself as they appear more buff, more menacing, more cunning, and Chasorealmers are bowing before them, worshipping them in some form of religion. The last island Shao Kahn sees appear to be like churches where more people pray. Shao Kahn shows some disgust at their belief in religion. Before he could say anything though, he starts hearing a voice. A voice that is getting stronger.

"Welcome, Shao Kahn. Conqueror of realms. Emperor of the Netherrealm. Former husband and father of Sindel and Kitana." Havik said. He appears from black ashes and removes his mask and greets himself.

"Havik, the Chaos King. You know all about me?" Shao Kahn asked.

"As a cleric who loves to spread discord across the realm, it is my duty to know all souls that thrived within them, no matter the species, especially those who competed in tournaments of Mortal Kombat. Who has survived, who has died and those that were born after your failed tournament." Havik explained.

"And you know what I have come for, don't you?" Shao Kahn guesses.

"You are here for my Kamidogu. Those before you have tried to do so, and have perished at my hand and fed to my people. Bloody, chaotic deaths every time. No one learns from their mistakes. They tried to defy me, but look where it got them." Havik said, pointing behind him and Shao Kahn sees chaotic looking beasts with no eyes and four limbs chewing and eating a humanoid corpse and their lips being covered in blood. They briefly sensed Shao Kahn and start running towards him like a rabid dog, but Havik holds his hand up and they stop within a second and obey his command and hears whining.

Shao Kahn looks into Havik's skull-like eyes and sees something that he was not expecting at all. "So Daegon was here before me. And yet you spared him. Because you knew of his plan, including my resurrection and what we seek as a common goal." Shao Kahn realized.

"Yes. In fact, I know everything. The Kamidogu and what it can do. The wars that Daegon has told me about once he learned information from your former blood mage Skarlet and of course your daughter Mileena." Havik said.

"So you know about Kronika and Geras, then?" Shao Kahn asked.

"Precisely. Skarlet restored Daegon's memories when Kronika shielded her from having her memories wiped and in return, he restored mine because she passed on a piece of Kronika's power to him and used it up to restore mine. I know of Geras after I tortured him when Fujin and Shang Tsung temporarily banished him here. He broke free from my chains and left using his powers." Havik said.

"If you have your memories restored, then you must remember your life from the Old Era just as I do along with all of my followers and my enemies. I assume that Daegon had something to do with that." Shao Kahn said.

"Unfortunately. I used your former general Reiko to gather the Kamidogu, claiming that he would be a god of blood. But he was offered up as a sacrifice instead so I could get Shinnok's amulet. I used blood magic to enslave the enemies we share. The Cages because I wanted Johnny Cage's daughter's powers, and I kidnapped her and her friend and they were the first ones to fall under my control. Followed by their parents. Not even a god such as Raiden could resist. My goal failed when I met my demise at the hands of Quan Chi after I was defeated by Scorpion." Havik remembered, with anger and irritation in his voice.

"But why did you want to see me? Why pass up on Daegon?" Shao Kahn demanded.

"Because with Kronika, Geras and Shang Tsung all dead, you are the most powerful evil being that I know. More powerful than Daegon. You slayed Onaga the Dragon King. That is why I wanted you to seek me out. To make a deal with you, Shao Kahn." Havik explained.

"Ha! What could you possibly offer me besides your Kamidogu?" Shao Kahn asked with a hint of doubt in his tone.

"I promise you more than that, my emperor. I promise Chaosrealm's service to you. A few worthy champions of my choosing and the Kamidogu of Chaosrealm. But if you want to win those favors. You must face the Kochal Trial."

"The Kochal Trial. Named after the three-headed undead demon who once thrived here in this realm."

"Its name was one of the names feared among the realms. It was in some ways, our god. That was until Kochal died. So my predacessors have named the trial arena after him and built a statue in its name."

"And you expect me to make a deal."

"If you can defeat all three of them, and then defeat me, then I will pledge my loyalty to you." Havik tells him.

"Then I am prepared. I'll take on any worthy challenger who dares to oppose me." Shao Kahn said, smirking.

"Many before you have said that to me. They were all wrong. I doubted them all. But I will not do the same for you, lord Shao Kahn. Please. This way." Havik gestures and starts walking through the castle, with Shao Kahn following him. The Chaosrealmers all stare nearly motionlessly as their lord and master walks through his fortress, but some of them quietly growl at the sight of the outsider. Shao Kahn ignored them as he continued to follow the Chaos King.

Havik continued to lead Shao Kahn to the Kochal Trial Arena behind his own fortress. As they reach the battle field, Shao Kahn sees three giant skulls all resembling some sort of three-headed demon. They are all showing green mist-like waterfalls falling from their jaws and into the bottomless sea.

"Tell me, Havik. How is it that you run this place despite being the polar opposite of Orderrealm and hold trials like this?" Shao Kahn asked.

"After the last one died, I took over and with my combined sorcery, I was the chosen champion in Mortal Kombat in Chaosrealm. They all bow to me. They love to endure pain and suffering. We do not hold governments, and we endure freedom and do what we please. On rare occasions, very few attempted to kill me, but they have died at my hands. I kill to entertain anyone here." Havik said.

"Because without one, then everyone here would wander around aimlessly as they please, which can be more dangerous and could lead to extinction of your entire race. There is no other law. As Chaos is born to spread through the entire realm, you still wish to bring it to other realms." Shao Kahn tells him.

"Indeed. Now, here is the Kochal Trial. Named after rumored legends of a three-headed demon god, born here in this realm. This was made by the founding rulers of Chaosrealm. To see if anyone from any realm except our sworn enemy can be worthy enough for us to consider an ally. No one has ever succeeded. We chose to keep it around as my people crave to see fighting, pain and blood spilled. All part of seeing chaos. Now there are four challengers, but only choose three. One must be sacrificed to create chaos for my people." Havik explains.

"Very well, Chaos Cleric. Bring on your best challengers. Surprise me with your chaotic nature if you can." Shao Kahn demands.

"Very well then. Behold!" Havik exclaimed. He raises his hands and they glow bright green. Four fire gates open. The first challenger steps out. It is an Oni.

Moloch. A blue-skinned three-eyed monster creature known as an Oni. Vicious demonic beings that reside in the Netherrealm and Chaosrealm themselves. They have sharp claws and horns on the sides of their heads. They are known for being extremely savage and can tear anything apart from limb to limb. Moloch has a chained ball chained to his left wrist. Most of them also lack speech.

"An Oni." Shao Kahn realizes.

"Moloch. The most savage beast I could find. They are powerful, yet savage and reckless. This one is clever enough to know to fight like a gladiator. Moloch is willing to fight anyone he sees." Havik said. "Next, is Drahmin. Another Oni and one of my best fighters. Another Oni. Unlike Moloch, this one is capable of emotion and speech. He too can hold weapons and with his mask on, he holds his rage. Should he take it off, his insanity and chaotic nature will be unleashed."

Drahmin in terms of appearance dones steel armor and the middle of it sports the symbol of Chaosrealm itself. He also wears a blue-green mask to cover his face. On his right arm is an Iron Club. It covers almost his entire arm and looks heavy, but he doesn't seem to have a hard time lifting his arm at all. He also has a sword that is lodged into his left shoulder literally. Drahmin enjoys feeling pain. He believes it makes him stronger by going through pain all the time.

"Welcome to hell." Drahmin snarls and smirks.

"Third. Someone who was believed to be dead after your resurrection. Has always fought for you. Stood his ground and died in battle. Created by none other than you, Shao Kahn." Havik said. Shao Kahn sees who is coming through the third fire gate and smirks.

"Ermac!" Shao Kahn recognizes him. "How is it possible that you live?"

"We are many. Havik has sensed us the moment we were freed after the treacherous sorcerer died. We found ourselves awakened in Chaosrealm and recreated by Cleric Havik himself with powerful magic. He has saved our souls from being destroyed. We have sworn to serve and protect him at all costs." Ermac explains his resurrection.

"I must say, Chaos Cleric. I am impressed. Your sorcery exceeded all expectations. It may yet rival that of mine. If Shang Tsung was here, not even he can compare his powers to us." Shao Kahn said, impressed.

"Last but not least. One of the most powerful warriors ever born. Known for obtaining the most fatalities in Mortal Kombat. Believed to have been dead by your enemies that we will soon share, cast out by his own kind and was succeeded by Queen Sheeva." Havik explained. Shao Kahn was at first confused by what Havik meant by that. Then his eyes widened at the sudden realization and it hit him.

"Goro?!" Shao Kahn exclaimed in shock. Havik said nothing and steps aside as the former Shokan prince steps through the fourth fire gate before they all close behind the four chosen challengers.

"Shao Kahn. My former master who has abandoned me?!" Goro growls as he was about to attack him. Havik comes out of nowhere and stops him in place.

"Relax yourself, Goro. Shao Kahn is here for the Kochal Trial. Soon we will be his allies." Havik said to him.

"Ally ourselves with him?! He deserted me! Cast me out of his empire! Whatever empire he has left!" Goro exclaimed, glaring at the emperor.

"Abandoned you? I banished you from my empire! The only reason I chose not to kill you was because of my high respect for you! You failed to prevent Sheeva from taking over the Shokan Tribe! And you failed to prevent Kotal's escape from the flesh pits when he lacked strength! Had you actually killed them, we wouldn't be here bickering!" Shao Kahn said, pointing a finger at him. Havik gleefully smiles at their argument. He appears to find just about anything amusing to him.

"Enough with your arguments, Goro. Save your strength for the trial. I promise you that you will have your chance to fight." Havik said. He holds up his hand and the symbol on his hand glows as does the symbol on his right shoulder.

Goro reluctantly conceded. "As you command, Chaos Cleric." Goro said. He huffs and stares at Shao Kahn at least one more time before he walks backwards with Drahmin, Moloch and Ermac. They all walk over the edge of the field and turn around and they all stare at Shao Kahn and Havik.

"Now. Before we begin, Shao Kahn. Pick one person, who you believe deserves to die at your hand. For your love of killing, and my love for chaos. Choose carefully." Havik reminds him. With a snap of his fingers, the audience is filled with hundreds of Chaosrealmers. All of them are eager to watch the results, no matter the outcome.

Shao Kahn sees behind them that they are near the edge of the bottomless sea of the mist. As he slowly walks towards the four, he spares a glimpse at the former Shokan prince. Goro stares at him with anger and lust in his eyes. "Killing you would be satisfying. But before then, you have always been reliable." Shao Kahn said.

He continues walking and sees Ermac and nods to him. He stops to look at Drahmin and Moloch. Two fighters he does not recognize and thinks carefully who he chooses to spare. Shao Kahn sighs and seemingly turns his back on them, only to turn around and swiftly uppercuts Moloch in the jaw, breaking it as the Oni is sent flying over the cliff and starts falling. Moloch screams like a wild animal as he falls, and as he does so, he feels his own limbs being torn apart and his skin burning off. Within moments, limbs come flying off as a lot of blood comes out and his skin is burned off completely and then the rest of Moloch is torn apart and more blood pops out of bis body as the Oni finally dies.

Havik evilly smirks as he hears the sounds of Moloch's screams of terror and the sound of blood coming and limbs being torn apart. The audience shouts in cheers as they also witness the entire thing. They get inspired everytime this happens, no matter who and where. Even if it's each other.

"You have chosen your three challengers. If you can defeat them, Shao Kahn, then I shall face you myself. Do not disappoint me." Havik smirked with a confident look on his face.

"Disappoint? Who do you think I am? I am the top gladiator where I honed my skills before I killed Onaga the Dragon King!" Shao Kahn said. Drahmin swings his iron mace at the ground, while Ermac, body glows and Goro cracks his four knuckles.

"Fight" Havik announced.

All three of them all charged Shao Kahn at once. Drahmin does two palm strikes which Shao Kahn easily dodges and swings an arm at his back, and does two kicks to the face. Goro does two punches from his right arms and goes for an uppercut. Shao Kahn blocks the punches and parries the uppercut and punches his right rib cage, kicks his right shin and grabs his throat and throws him down. Ermac lifts rocks and boulders from the arena and hurls them at the conqueror. Shao Kahn side step dodged them and swings his hammer down and Ermac stumbles, allowing him to charge and shoulder bash him in the air and grab his left ankle and slams him into the ground. Goro charges again, but Shao Kahn puts in more strength and slams his fist up into Goro's gut, sending him far backwards. Darhmin comes in to swing his mace again, only for Shao Kahn to grab his throat and throws him almost the same distance. Ermac throws small energy blasts at him, but they hardly hurt, and Shao Kahn grabs him by the face and throws him into the ground. Shao Kahn summons his hammer and before he could do anything further, Drahmin jumps onto his back and hits him in the back of the head with his mace. Shao Kahn felt that, but shrugs it off as he jumps and lands on his back, stunning the masked Oni before throwing him into a pillar. Goro jumps to Shao Kahn and grabs and throws him down. Goro punches him across the face three times before lifting him up by the ankles and punching his back four times before sending him back with a stronger punch.

Shao Kahn recovers and he growls and chuckles. He loves a challenge. He gets back up and gestures to the three challengers to come get some. Drahmin was the first to run up to Shao Kahn and swings his mace three times vertically, which Shao Kahn easily dodges when he double kicks him two times in the back of the head. Shao Kahn takes his hammer and swings hard at his back, cracking it and sending him to a bigger pillar, face first. His face is cracked, so are part of his ribs and sternum alongside part of his mask. He falls down and is passed out. Ermac teleports in front of him, gives him a strong kick to the neck, teleports again to kick him in the back and one more time to back hand strike him and uses his telekinesis to lift him up in the air and throws him down. Ermac hovers in the air, but Shao Kahn summons a spear and throws it at his leg, making it bleed. Shao Kahn comes in, kicks him in the air, jumps up and punches him to the ground, defeating Ermac as well with some bones cracked or broken.

Goro comes out of nowhere and does a mid air kick to Shao Kahn's left shoulder. He does a punch to the left shoulder, two fist slams on the right shoulder, does two punches to both ribs followed by two punches to the chest and shoulders. Goro then does a backhand strike, lifts him by his shoulder and does a series of rapid punches with his other three hands and uses two hands to try to choke him. Shao Kahn just smirks. He grabs Goro's wrists and starts crushing them, causing the former Shokan prince pain. Before Goro can do anything, Shao Kahn headbutts his nose, making it bleed. Goro tries to attack, but Shao Kahn pushes one hand away and another with a kick and punches his his right shoulder, chest and right rib cage, cracking it. Goro tries to slam all four fists onto him swiftly, but Shao Kahn was too fast, punches his back, grabs his shoulders and knees his spine. He summons his hammer, pulls Goro to the ground with hard, slams it by the middle part, causing a minor quake in the ground, forcing him back up and swings at the back of his head, cracking his skull. Goro feels dizzy. Shao Kahn then uppercuts his chin, cracking that as well, and his hammer is sent flying into the air, only to come back down and it lands on Goro's chest, sending him to the ground hard. Goro lays there, blood all over his face in defeat.

The Chaosrealmers in the crowd are growing wild. Growing wild at the amount of pain, blood and the sound of bones breaking. They are somehow more than impressed that Shao Kahn easily handled all three of them, albeit Goro giving him some trouble. Even Havik smiled. "I knew you would win, Shao Kahn. But for everyone's sake, yours and mine included, allow me to assure you that I told them not to go easy on you."

"Easy on me? I was the one that trained them. It was I who told them to never hold their strength back on anyone, as holding back is for the weak. Everyone else does so because they are weak. If Kung Lao and Sindel killed me in the tournament, we would not be standing here today. That will be their biggest mistake. After my defeat, I had Shang Tsung and Quan Chi use their sorcery to clone me in case I were to die at their hands." Shao Kahn explained.

"And they were wise to do so. They have always been the brightest sorcerers of all. It was a shame that they are dead. They would've been useful." Havik said.

"I have beaten your challengers, Havik. Now it is you that must fight me." Shao Kahn reminds him. "And don't even think about holding back on your power."

"You have my word, Shao Kahn." Havik said as he stood up from his throne and gets into a snake-like pose.

Havik starts by cracking his legs in what seems to be an impossible right angle fashion and shoots a red energy projectile from his hands, landing on Shao Kahn's thighs. He grunts in pain, but shrugs it off. Havik then tries to dive under Shao Kahn and send a kick to his face, but Shao Kahn leans backwards, grabs his foot and throws him down and kicks him backwards. Havik rolls back and cracks his neck. Shao Kahn backhands Havik across the face followed by a punch. Havik recovers and spins in a full 360 degree circle twice, clawing Shao Kahn;s chest, making bleed a little. He then does two chop strikes to the right shoulder, a knee strike to the chest and a kick to the chin. Shao Kahn stumbles backwards. Havik does two punches, which Shao Kahn blocks and Havik suddenly brings out a handheld spiked mace and tries to swing it onto Shao Kahn's head.

Shao Kahn brings out his wrath hammer and they both swing their strong, deadly weapons at each other. They switch between offense and defense. Havik spins in circles with his weapons and tried to throw it at the conqueror, but Shao Kahn ducks and throws his hammer….. The wrong way. All of a sudden, the hammer hits Havik in the back of the head, cracking the back of his head, sending him to Shao Kahn, who grabs his head, slams his face into the ground, making blood come out, punches his face and then a headbutt, sending the Chaos Cleric down in defeat, causing the crowd to cheer even louder for their own king's pain.

"Well then, Chaos Cleric. I have officially won. Now make use of your word and show me my prize." Shao Kahn demands.

"Yes. I will go with my honor. I give you my challengers Goro, Ermac and Drahmin." Havik tells him. Ermac and Drahmin bow to their co-leader Shao Kahn. Goro snarls and glares at him, still refusing to let up what happened between them.

"And? What else?" Shao Kahn asked.

"My royalty to you. And Chaosrealm will have a new alliance with the Netherrealm. All of my people will follow you as well under our command." Havik said. "Last but not least, for your most rewarding effort in defeating me and being the first to pass the Kochal Trial. I present to you….." Havik raises his hands again and his symbols glow. A small portion of the arena opens up. It reveals a small tile. The symbol of the tile shows what looks like a tail of a reptile, possibly a chameleon. And the color is that of orange.

"The Kamidogu of Chaosrealm." Shao Kahn recognizes.

"Yes. With this, you can unlock dangerous and wonderful power. Imagine the disaster if all six were collected." Havik said. He waves his hands and the tile glows and within a second, the Kamidogu dagger rises from the ground.

The dagger has a curved hilt and the back of the blade has a semi-circle while the blade itself is also curved. "And with the power of this one in particular." Shao Kahn said.

"Chaos will reign forever." Havik finishes. He and Shao Kahn start laughing evilly at the accomplishment and the violence that has taken place here in Chaosrealm. All the Chaosrealmers start laughing and cheering for them. Two Kamidogu daggers down, four to go.

Note: Chaosrealm is here and so has Havik. And with him, are two familiar faces. I brought Ermac back from the dead since I felt like he has more powers to show off. In games, i prefer him in MK1, ha. You'll see more Havik soon.
