Hiashi...

Hinata coughed harshly as a wisp of blue smoke entered her lungs unintentionally. Shikamaru whispered an apology as he waved a hand in front of his face to clear the smoke. "Karaoke?" She asked.

When her schoolmate failed to replay she only sighed and took a step toward the door, only to be stopped by Shikamaru. "Wait till I'm done."

The Hyuga pouted and shifted on her aching feet. "But…I'll s-smell…"

The pony-tailed boy merely shrugged his shoulders as he took another puff, the cigarette already more than half gone. "Ask Ino for some perfume, she knows I smoke." He blew out slowly as if he were sighing. "Just don't tell Sakura, she'll have my head…and my lungs."

Hinata looked to the ground with a frown. "She's not talking to me anyway…"

"I told you it's nothing really too serious. You did nothing wrong, Sakura just sucks at keeping secrets. That's one of the main reasons she couldn't be a Sleeper. At least Ino can keep a secret if she really had to. Sakura gets all nervous and talks unintentionally."

"B-but why is there a secret about m-me anyway? Don't I h-have the right to know?"

Shikamaru sigh heavily, "It's really nothing to do with what right's you do or do not have. It's an authorization issue. Just like the civilian population isn't authorized to know about our school, you aren't authorized to know about yourself." He look one last drag of his cancer stick before dropping it on the concrete and smashing it with the toe of his sneaker. He stepped closer to her, his hands now shoved in his pockets. "If you really want to know, either you corner Sakura and ask her or…You request a meeting with Mrs. Senju. Those are the only two options you have."

Hinata nodded to herself, pulling her hands close to her chest in hopes to calm her racing heart. She wasn't the kind of person to corner another, nor did she want to speak with the principle of the school again. That woman was terrifying. If those were her only choices, then what was she to do? Just leave it alone? But if was information pertaining to her and her alone, something she obviously doesn't know about…something only a medical student would happen to know…

"S-shikamaru…May I ask a q-question…"

"Shoot."

Hinata looked up at him, a worried look on her face. "W-why do they take blood s-samples when you enroll in the s-school?"

Hinata sat down on one of the makeshift couches the others had erected in the middle of the video store. Around her flying kernels of popcorn bounced off of shelves and attached themselves in various heads of hair. Laughter and smiles were everywhere, light and carefree. She couldn't believe these same people would be marching in an army with guns pointed at their enemies in only half a years' time. On the couch across from her, Shikamaru sat next to the blonde from Naruto's birthday party who grasped his chin and placed a sweet peck on his lips. The bluenette turned her head quickly and looked toward the karaoke machine which was currently surrounded by Kiba, Sakura, Ino and Naruto singing "Eye of The Tiger" while making exaggerate hand motions. She giggled and blushed a little when Naruto made a Tiger claw at her, his smile wide. She loved his smile, it seemed like it brightened up the room ten times more than the new florescent lights of the store could. Ino swung her hips to the beat while Kiba and Sakura head banged like rock stars. It was all pretty hilarious, even Shino and Choji were swaying to the music in the corner of the room.

When the song ended, everyone laughed and cheered while they bowed and blew kisses at the small audience. Ino was about to walk off the stage with Sakura and Naruto but Kiba grabbed her and begged her to do another song with him. It was sweet, how close they were. Kind of like brother and sister. Hinata covered her mouth with a giggle. That was how they were supposed to act she supposed. It was cute, how they teased each other in a way only siblings could. The thought made her frown sadly.

The last week had been rather difficult. Her sister was more distant and cold, claiming she had chosen TenTen over her. Her father left early and came home late, never really letting either of them have a conversation with him. Tenten slept often and when she wasn't sleeping she was with Neji. She hadn't any idea how to fix her family. Nothing except graduating and joining the military, which she really didn't want to do.

The young woman felt her nails bit into the sensitive flesh of her knees. She hated this! Why couldn't she just live a normal life? Why did her family have to get dragged into all of this?! She looked around at her happy classmates and suddenly felt sick. She was just thrown into this life with few options and forced into having even less when it came to a choice between the life or death of her best friend. It made so... so sick...so incredibly sick and...and so incredibly angry. She hated this school. She hated Mrs. Senju. She hated the twins and...and she was even angry with her father for not fighting back!

Her face was warm with anger, she was brimming at the rim with it. She couldn't stand being around these people any longer. Standing up from the "chair" she headed for the door. She didn't look back at them, not even when Naruto called her name. She didn't want to stop and hear him tell her how much he hated her for getting him in trouble. She felt him running toward her, his footsteps heavy on the wooden floors of the store. She kept her head down when he turned her around.

"Hinata, hey...why are you leaving? The party just started! Come, we can do a song toget-"

Shaking her head, she tried to pull away from him. "I can't. I don't want to have any part of this Naruto. "

Her anger was there, on the edge begging her to let it go.

"Hey, talk to me. What's wrong?" The blonde man cupped her chin and tried to tilt her head up to look at him.

It was going to over flow. Her anger was there...stop pushing. Stop pushing...

He placed a hand on either side of her face and forced her to look at him.

Her eyes bore into his through a haze of red.

"H-hinata...Your eyes..."

"Naruto, get away from her!"

Hinata's eyes snapped over to Sakura, her hands placed in front of her in a defensive stance and a worried look on her face. "Is there a reason, Sakura?" Her head tilted to the side in genuine curiosity bu she guessed from the look on both of their faces it didn't seem that way.

Naruto forced her head to face him again. "Hinata, you need to calm down." She felt his fingers rub the veins on the side of her head...next to her eyes. Why were they protruding? She placed a hand on top of his, causing Sakura to start towards her, and rubbed on the spot her had just touched.

"What is that?" Did she just growl?

The future medic too a step closer to her, a make-up mirror in her outstreched hand. "I will tell you, but you have to calm down first. Look at yourself."

Hinata slowly took the mirror from her classmates hand and looked at herself. Her eyes...changed. No longer were they grey, in fact they completely lacked color all together! She had no pupils and veins were protruding from the sides of her head in the most unnatural way. What was wrong with her?!

She suddenly felt cold and light headed and from the corner of her eye she saw Sakura relax."W-what's wrong w-with me?" She asked softly. She looked at herself again in the mirror. Her eyes were back to normal. Grey with a pupil.

"It's a genetic blood disorder. It, raises your adrenaline to unnatural levels and increases the blood flow to your eyes to the point of hyper activity. It's dangerous Hinata, if your become too overwhelmed or angry then you could hurt someone very very badly. In the past, a person with your blood disorder stopped a mans hear with just the tips of his fingers."

Hinata looked at the other girl, pushing Naruto's hands off of her finally. "I'm s-sick then?"

Sakura shrugged. "I guess you could say that but, its not something that could hurt you. It's genetic so you can't infect anyone else either."

The bluenette shook her head. "It c-couldn't be. I-i've never heard o-of my father t-talk about it."

Sakura then looked to the floor. "Y-your father has brown eyes, she couldn't posses the trait."

Hinata shook her head again. "My m-mother has b-brown eyes too..."

The future medic nodded. "I know."

Naruto tossed his hands in the air. "So what are you saying Sakura?!"

"Hiashi..." Sakura stopped and looked between the two of them. "Hinata, I really can't tell you. If I do then...You know how things are. I just can't!" With that she ran off.

"It's l-late, I should b-be getting home s-soon."

Naruto gave her a soft smile from the other side of the office. "Are you okay?"

The young woman nodded, giving him a soft smile in return. "Yes, I-I think." She looked down at her folded hands. "I just wish she could have told me..."She whispered.

"What...What were you upset about anyway?"

Hinata shrugged, sitting back in her chair. "E-everything..."

The man scooted his chair closer to hers and took her hands in his. "Hey, You don't have to worry okay? No matter what happens I'm right here."

She swallowed hard and looked into his eyes. The fact that the room was dark aside from the light of the company computer made her more nervous than usual and him being this close..."Why?"

He cupped her cheek again, sliding his thumb down the angles of her face before tilting her head forward by her chin. "Because I like you."

And then he kissed her.
