Chapter 33
At the domain…
"So close…"
Shin had no idea what to expect when he asked for this, but, at the same time, he felt this was the only way to see his technique grow. When his father was altered and possessed Sukuna's body form, he saw Shin's technique properly for the first time. It opened his eyes to realize that despite it being six eyes and limitless, it was a different version of that power. One that only Shin has been able to toy and figure out. Oji has given him some input on the idea, but he wasn't certain if it would work.
"Consider what you are asking, do you really think that swapping bodies with me is going to be the answer?" this all happened after his aunt agreed to help him and the switch would take place. Oji found Shin after dinner and asked him that very question.
He explained when his father was like him, he listened and saw his technique better than before. Shin thinks he needs to see it from Sukuna's view to better know how the technique works.
It made little sense to Oji, but he nonetheless agreed to the notion.
Then, when it all happened. Shin woke with a pounding headache. At first, the world was a blur, but then it focused… then focused again… "Ow… how can I see behind… oh…" he was toying with the eyes blow his main ones for a short while to learn how far they could see. If anything, he could peer behind him. But… he doesn't have just four eyes…
He was cautious to open the ones on his back…
"Huh?" he paused realizing something was wrong. "Why aren't they opening on my… AH!"
He jumped, as he began to see out his neck, top left hand, bottom of his right knee and his right shoulder!
"They… can move about now?" he tried it, the four eyes that were on his back had moved, but, when he focuses, they went back to where they should be. "I wonder if that can be transferred over?" he muttered. Such ability would give him the edge in a fight. He slowly got out of bed, since he was far taller now he made note that the door was now rather short for him. "This… huh… I should have thought this though a little better."
It took him a good twenty minutes to squeeze his frame out through the doorway, until he stumbled back. Once free, he felt eyes staring at him. Slowly, he turned and saw the five siblings stare blankly at him. "Uh… morning!"
"MOM! OJI ATE SHIN!" Saitama shouted.
#
Well, that morning could have gone better. At the same time, his youngest sisters were now terrified of him. "Oh… I take it they knew Oji before…"
His mother was there to try and sooth things over, Saitama was still leery of Shin in such a state, but eventually accepted it. "Why would elder brother do this?" Saitama asked.
His mom was great to explain the situation, at the same time she also had to dumb it down a little. "Think of it like this, there is an expression that you shouldn't judge someone until you walk a mile in their shoes. That means see from their perspective of things. Your brother is doing this since Sukuna has an odd outlook when it comes to technique. His ability to look at curse energy techniques and break it down so it is useable to him, that aspect of his ability sometimes is transferred to the one who is in his state of body" she explained.
Saitama kept staring at Shin oddly. "And you strongly believe that?" he asked.
Shin nodded to him. "It worked on dad once before, I can vouch for that since dad was with me at the time when I noticed. He has tried to have me learn his technique his way, but my version of six eyes and limitless are different than his… if anything… I haven't even mastered my version yet. I have tested here and there, but… I am nowhere near dad yet."
The siblings merely nodded to him. Yet the two youngest brothers stared oddly. "I don't think this is a bad idea." Came out of Zennyo. "In fact, I have noticed when Ryomen… Oji… has swapped or has seen from another perspective, his mind broadens rather drastically. Have you already learned something in this state of being?" he asked.
Shin smirked but nodded. "I have two sets of eyes in my back, in this form… I can move them freely." He explained and demonstrated that.
His mother rolled her eyes to it all. "I swear this is where your father leaks out of you…" she muttered. After all, Shin was making the eyes do circles on his chest to prove a point.
"EW!" came out of Mimiko and Nanako.
"Sorry…" he covered up and returned the eyes to where they belonged.
"Can we help you with this, Oniichan?" asked Ka Riu. "If anything, this may also help us as well."
He was curious to what they meant, so was his mother. So naturally, he agreed to let them assist him. After all, they are a lot more mature than how they look!
#
They would go outside of the domain, into the mountains for some peace and quiet. When a good place was found, Shin took a seat and his little brothers followed. "So what are you trying to do?" asked Zennyo.
"Well, I feel that my ability can go farther than it should, since it isn't exactly the same six eyes and limitless abilities as my father…"
They nodded in agreement. "The fact that you noticed is rather stunning." Said Ka Riu. "Some sorcerers won't think of such a thing, but, how would it go farther?"
"I know I have power, strong power and a greater output than dad when he had his curse energy. At the same time, this doesn't work the same way as dad's."
The twins nodded to this. "So, how do you fix it? How do you understand how your abilities work?" asked Zennyo.
"That's… what I am trying to figure out. You see…" he explained that he was born blue, yet Sukuna revived him. He believes that Sukuna accidently put some of his power into him, thus why he has the two sets of eyes in his back. At the same time, his channels for curse energy had split. Only a few years have passed since his aunt was able to meld them together again. Ever since he knows he has the output, however, he can't use six eyes and limitless at the same time like his father. "I have a greater burst of power than my father did, but… I can't use this the same way HE did."
His brothers paused to this. "Do you have to?" they asked.
Shin took a moment. "What do you mean?"
"Well, from what you have told us already, this method isn't like father's right? So why should you try and use it the same way he did?"
Shin began to feel rather silly at this point, swapping with Oji for nothing! However, the twins smiled to him. "I think elder brother just realized something, at the same time, it's okay to discover this later. Better than not at all. You see Oniichan, we share something similar like this. Before we died… when we were dragons. We only knew our father's side of the family. We don't remember our mother's side, but she must have been very important since our father at the time… not even he would go against her." Said Zennyo.
"We never knew our mother… she somehow passed shortly after we were born at the time" Ka Riu explained. "We only heard this through Tiamat who told us she was an amazing dragon, so much so she kept father in his place until she passed. I wonder if that's what started all of this…"
"Your mother passing?" asked Shin.
"Yes, but it had to be more than that…" they froze as a look of dead came over them. "Brother… we weren't the only ones born were we?"
Shin froze to this as well.
They had sisters. But neither one could remember them, let alone understood what became of them either.
He felt his heart sink a little. "I'm so sorry," he whispered.
"Don't apologize, in the way of the dragon, you are either strong enough to survive on your own, or are weak enough to be taken notice of. Father has always been weak, despite his age as well as his connections. He wasn't one for strength, which is why he could manipulate those around him with ease and have them do his bidding. Whether they knew it or not, this was his power. Convincing those around him that his ideas are sound as well, they are to be listened to." Said Zennyo.
Shin nodded to this, but now, he worried for his mother. In fact, one of his demon eyes was peering back at the domain.
"You need not worry for mother or our family, we are not heavenly bound dragons. We are earth bound. There is a HUGE difference when it comes to the two breeds of dragons…"
"Wait, breeds?"
"You didn't know?" asked Ka Riu. "Earth dragons are a different breed than the heavenly realm. At the same time, earth dragons are able to alter their appearance and their power. A heavenly realm dragon cannot, they are connected to one or two elements at most, and they have little influence over other elements they are not connected to. That's because our former father made that rule. To ensure his power and that no one there can overthrow him."
"Indeed, at the same time, preventing the dragons from learning and growing has stunted them for generations. We tried to tell him that when we were his children. This isn't how the rule over others, as well, how can the dragons live if limited to his words. It was never right for him to impose his will on them, it was never right for him to believe that the young will overthrow the elders, the young grow and learn from them so they know how to be elders for when they come of age. But that has died the moment he decided that children are the enemy, and yet, he is ensuring there are more than enough dragons to breed with." Ka Riu explained.
"The females are forced into harems in order to have children, but none of their sons survive. However, there are those who dared to hide their children and take the risk. If they are to die, let them at least try to live."
"The ones on Ether… Uncle Choso spoke of them, and he raised many eggs too…" said Shin.
"Oh, the nursery dragon!" Ka Riu said and smiled. "Indeed, we heard of his accomplishments. In fact that was a grand saying in the heavenly realm, and as a means of bragging. One having so many children, they lost count. That was a HUGE flex back in the day." They laughed.
"I think he just took it a little too far… after all… Uncle Choso knows what they have gone through, and what they endured." Shin said gently.
The twins nodded to this. "That's why they all hatched." Said Ka Riu. "Those within the eggs felt his connection and they knew he knew what they were going through. He was acting like a true father to them, which is why they won't go against him."
"A nursery dragon was a huge threat to our former father back in the day, for that very reason. If they did everything right for the sake of the children, those children won't retaliate against him. It would be like raising an army without intending on raising one." Zennyo explained.
"That would be threatening…" Shin muttered.
"Saitama has the same ability."
He froze to this, but it made complete sense! He took care of his siblings not just before his birth, but with the twins before him and the sisters. Saitama was absorbed to tend to them as well. In return, those siblings listen to him and respect his wishes. "He does have a strong nurturing side to him…"
"Saitama may not know it yet, but he is very capable. He is more capable than Choso when it comes to raising young dragons. But let's not put that thought in his head for the time being. I think he is still understanding his power as well…" said Zennyo.
"Now, about you, Oniichan. I think you have to stop looking at this as if it is the same ability that father had before… well… our father… it's rather strange to have two fathers and a mother…"
"I doubt that's the strangest thing about this family…" Shin muttered.
"Anyways. Oniichan, you need to play with this ability as if no one has had it before. Father found his way with it, you just need to find yours. As such, test it out, what can you do now that you were hindered to do before?" asked Ka Riu.
He was right, and his mother always did say that playing with a technique gets one better to understand it. So, he will try playing with it.
"I heard you can make hallow purple spheres, is that true?" asked Zennyo.
"Yeah…"
"Can you show us?"
He didn't see why not. At the same time, the little brothers have been great soundboards…
