Chapter 53

"Your mom is going to kill you." Nozel couldn't help but sweatdrop with a sigh and look at his soon to be wife. Courtney wore a simple yet elegant strapless white gown, sitting as she watched Nozel adjust his tie.

"I know." He replied.

"Not just her. Noelle just gave birth, so the hormones are still there and she's gonna kick your butt too." Courtney stated, looking up at her husband to be.

"Yet you still agreed to this." Nozel pointed out. She hummed, standing and began fixing his tie.

"True." Courtney agreed. She paused, then continued. "Hey, do you remember when we first met?"

"When Mother brought you over to House Silva when I was 14." He nodded, as he watched her.

"Oh?" Courtney hummed, looking back at Nozel. "And what were your first thoughts when you saw me?"

"...Do I really have to say it?" He asked. Courtney merely smiled at him.

"Please?" She asked. He caved by her smile looking away shyly for a moment.

"... What pretty blonde hair." He admitted in a mutter. Courtney smiled and laughed lightly.

"Aww." She spoke. "Though I have to tell you, and you may not have known this, but purple isn't my hair's natural color. It's blonde. I just chose to dye it purple to disassociate myself from my Father and Stepmother." He stroked her hair as he watched her fix his tie.

"Well if it's any consolation, it suits you very well. And if you ever want to have them dealt with, just say the word and it will be done." He promised.

"Oh Nozel." Courtney couldn't help but lightly smile at that. "I appreciate it. Truly. But I do not see it worth wasting our time on the likes of them."

"Fair enough. But if you ever change your mind, the offer always stands." He replied, kissing her forehead.

"Mm…I'll keep that in mind." She hummed before adding. "Do you remember our first mission?"

"Where we nearly bit each others' heads off while capturing petty thieves in a dungeon?" He remarked with an amused smile.

"Yes, that." Courtney laughed.

"After that mission, Mother placed us together in missions ever since. I nearly thought she was trying to kill me." He huffed, amused.

"Oh that's because we didn't get along back then." Courtney laughed. "Of course we'd be at each other's throats."

"Couldn't help it when you were so reckless." He smirked.

"Excuse me, I was reckless?" Courtney raised an eyebrow. "Who had to save you from those dungeon traps in our 3rd mission?"

"You mean from the traps you set off?" He countered, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Hey." Courtney pouted before laughing. "Our poor squadmates that got sent with us. They said after the mission that we were like an old married couple. At age 15, mind you."

"And according to them, we had the audacity to deny it." He chuckled.

"That we did." Courtney giggled. "But in our defense, we were 15 at the time."

"Which didn't stop my Mother from trying to set us up." He hummed.

"Nope." Courtney agreed. "Though it makes me wonder. Did she pick me to join the Silver Eagles knowing I'd be a perfect match for you?"

"Knowing her, absolutely." He deadpanned. "And she hasn't let me live it down since." She laughed while smiling up at him.

"No regrets?" She asked. He looked at her and smiled, resting his forehead on hers.

"None whatsoever." He assured.

"Good." Courtney smiled. "Because I don't have any regrets either."

"Good to hear." He smiled, holding her close.

"Good lord if it weren't for you and Yuno, those 2 would be the cheesiest couple out there, Ren."

"I wanna resent that. I really do, but I can't. And it's Acier's fault."

"I regret nothing~." Nozel and Courtney blinked and quickly looked up to see many of their friends and others at the doorway.

"Nozel!" Queen Acier and Noelle pouted, making Nozel gulp.

"Hello Mother. Hello Noelle." Nozel remarked, albeit a tad sheepishly. "How can I help you 2?"

"You know if you wanted to actually keep this secret, you could've used another church besides the one Asta and Yuno were raised in." Fuegoleon remarked in amusement at his cousin/rival.

"Humph." Nozel grunted. "Then tell me Fuegoleon. When will you be getting married?"

"Don't think of using me as bait with your Mother." Fuegoleon accused.

"Yeah. I'll get to him later anyway." Queen Acier said. "How could you not tell me you were going to marry Courtney!?"

"With all the craziness going on, and preparing to fight against the Zogratis's, it slipped my mind to tell you." He answered.

"But why all of a sudden?" Noelle asked her older brother. Nozel could only sigh as he released Courtney.

"None of us knows how this will play out in the long run. But before it begins, I want to solidify my relationship with Courtney." He admitted.

"Huh. So even Nozel can be a romantic when he wants to." Asta remarked, surprised.

"That he can be." Noelle agreed, a light smile on her face. "Well in any case, I'm happy for you Nozel. Truly." She then frowned. "But first." She fired Sea Dragon's Waterball at him, hitting him square in the face.

"Ow…!" He groaned.

"That was for not telling me anything about you and Courtney going to tie the knot." She told him in a scolding tone.

"Agreed!" Queen Acier huffed. "Which is why Ren will let us hold the reception at the Tribe. No questions."

"Ren do what?" Ren blinked.

"You heard me." Queen Acier remarked.

"I'll tell Dryad to prepare the drinks I guess." Koji grunted.

"Oi!" Ren gaped.

"Thank you Koji.~" Queen Acier smiled.

"There's no stopping this, is there?" Nozel asked with a sweatdrop.

"Nope!~" Queen Acier giggled.

"I'll get Father Orsi to start then." Yuno replied, walking down the hall.

"And I'll inform the others we brought." Ren sighed, following. "I should probably also get Finral-san to walk Courtney down the aisle."

"Before or after he starts crying?" Bell asked.

"Does it matter? He's gonna be crying anyway." Fay pointed out.

"Haha! Okay, fair enough." Bell snickered. Nozel could only sigh while Courtney chuckled.

"Well this is happening." Nozel remarked.

"Indeed." Courtney agreed. "Though I suppose this is what we get for picking the church in Hage Village of all places."

"Our big sister is getting married Langris, I'm not ready!"

"You're not the one getting married, brother."

"I know but still!" Courtney smiled in amusement at her brothers. Langris sighs at Finral who was hugging him and crying. Ren had informed them and they came to see Courtney and Finral burst into tears seeing Courtney in her wedding dress.

"Waaah!" Finral cried.

"Oh it'll be okay, Finral." Courtney smiled.

"Yeah. And mind picking who's walking her down the aisle?" Ren added, standing at the door.

"Let the crybaby do it." Langris scowled.

"Or you both could do it." Fay shrugged. At that, Finral looked up and turned to Langris. Langris on the other hand, bore a deadpan expression.

"Whatever." Langris shrugged. "I don't really care who does it, or if we both have to. I just want this to be gotten over with."

"You and your tsundere attitude, Langris." Courtney remarked, lightly giggling. The youngest half-sibling of his 2 older half-siblings just rolled his eyes in irritation at Courtney's words.

"Whatever!" Langris grunted. "Can we just get a move on?"

"Put up with this and you'll get all the cherry tarts you want." Ren smirked. Langris looked over at Ren incredulously.

"...Okay, how do you know what my favorite sweet is?" He demanded.

"Dude, I've been coming to your base to train you guys for how long now?" Ren deadpanned. "You think I don't pay attention to you guys?"

"Ugh…! Damn you." Langris grit his teeth.

"Yeah yeah. Now come on! I don't know how long your Mother-in-law can contain her excitement." Ren replied.

"Oh god! The Queen of the kingdom is going to be our Mother-in-law." Finral gaped in realization.

"Yeah she is!" Fay laughed.

"Oh joy." Langris muttered.

"And gonna smother all 3 of you. Especially you, Langris." Ren stated, Fay laughing.

"Why me though?" He asked.

"Because you're an awkward, emotionally constipated little man who won't admit he cares about his big brother and sister?" Ren deadpanned. Langris crossed his arms and grunted in irritation.

"Humph. Let's just get this over with." Langris retorted gruffly.

"Aww! But you'll love our Mother-in-law, Langris!" Courtney smiled.

"She's too energetic for my liking." Langris replied bluntly.

"Everyone is too energetic for your liking." Ren deadpanned. "Plus grumpy since Mimosa controls your coffee intake."

"Ugh… Don't remind me woman…!" Langris groaned.

"Wait, Langris needs coffee?" Finral asked.

"Finral, every Magic Knight needs coffee." Ren deadpanned. "Or do you not recall what kind of crazy lives you all lead?"

"Clearly he's a moron and forgot that detail." Langris scoffed.

"Well he's a Black Bull; they are magnets for trouble." Fay pointed out.

"So are the Vaudes, so what's your point?" Ren questioned her spirit. Courtney couldn't help but laugh at Ren's counter while Langris just pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Are you done?" Langris asked.

"Yeah let's go. Once this is over, we have a reception party at my tribe. And those last till dawn." Ren stated.

"Party till you drop." Fay grinned, flying with Ren.

"Oh my.~" Courtney laughed, following her 2 younger brothers out of the room, and therefore, following Ren. They reached the door to the main hall, Ren mildly opening it to see all the guest seated. Nozel standing with Father Orsi and Fuegoleon, who agreed to be the best man. Ren then looked to Koji who was sitting at the organ. She whistled to him, which he noticed and gave a nod as she closed the door and faced the 3 siblings.

"Showtime." She said. Courtney and Finral gave a thumbs up and a nod, while Langris just rolled his eyes. Ren nodded, opening the doors as Koji began playing. Courtney took each of Langris's and Finral's arms as they walked down the aisle, Ren going behind to take her seat next to Yuno.

"This is a surprise." Yuno whispered to Ren.

"What is?" Ren whispered back.

"This sudden wedding." Yuno answered in a whisper.

"Well remember, Nozel is the son of the Queen of spontaneous ideas and decision making." Ren whispered back, amused. "Shouldn't be too surprised if at least one of her kids has it too."

"True." Yuno agreed. "But still. In the middle of our training? This is a huge risk overall."

"Maybe. But at the same time, it's a reminder of what we're fighting for." Ren pointed out. "And to not take for granted what we still have." Yuno went into thought, then nodded.

"Okay yeah, that makes sense." Yuno remarked. Ren smiled, kissing his cheek, holding his hand as she did. He smiled before continuing. "If we make it through this, then this risk would have paid off."

"Can you really call it a risk when, if you had it your way, would've done the same thing?" Fay wondered, high fiving with Bell. Yuno lightly glared at the 2 spirits.

"Hey." He scoffed.

"Not denying it." Fay stated, sitting on Ren's shoulder.

"Cause he knows he'd be lying if he did." Bell added, sitting on Yuno's shoulder.

"Humph." Yuno only grunted. Ren could only giggle, nuzzling Yuno as they watched the 3 siblings reach Nozel as Finral hugged Courtney and shook Nozel's hand and Courtney pulled Langris for a quick hug before he could escape. Langris did a muffled "Ack!" by his half older sister's hug, but that was it. Some members of the audience snickered as Langris huffed after finally being released by Courtney and followed Finral to their seats while Courtney gave her bouquet to Noelle and took Nozel's hands.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the union of Nozel Silva and Courtney Roulacase." Father Orsi spoke. "These 2 have fought side by side as Magic Knights for years before their relationship even began. And even now, they still hold a precious bond that cannot be broken. And despite the current circumstances they are currently in, they wished to perform this ceremony to formally solidify their vows to one another. And now the bride and groom will speak their vows, Courtney you may go first." Courtney nodded, holding Nozel's hands tightly as she took a breath.

"Nozel when we first met, we had went on our first mission together. I'll be honest, I thought you were a stuffy know-it-all who didn't know the first thing about fun despite having Acier as your mother." She began. Yami barked a laugh. "But over time, you began to loosen up and showed yourself as a hard working and serious Magic Knight who looks out for his squad and wants to achieve great things with them, which made me admire you greatly. Which slowly turned into love. I wanted to be there at your side, fight together, eat together, argue and laugh together. I just wanted to be by your side and you let me. I don't ever regret choosing you despite what my parents kept trying to make me do. Otherwise my life with you has been worth it on so many levels and more and I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together as husband and wife." Queen Acier, Finral, Asta, Noelle, and several other audience members (not going to list them all cause that'd be a paragraph long) began to tear up.

"Now then Nozel." Father Orsi kindly smiled. Nozel nodded, swallowing thickly as he looked at Courtney.

"Courtney since we are being honest, allow me to admit that after our first mission, I thought you were a reckless woman who was going to be the death of me one day." Nozel admitted. This time Langris barked a laugh. "But I later saw there was more to you than that. For I soon learned that in front of me was a beautiful, talented, smart, kind, and powerful Magic Knight who actually wanted to be with me of all people. I know I am not the easiest to get along with, but you didn't care. You stripped me of any walls I had and came to me so easily that it would feel wrong to not have you in my life. You open me up to new incredible things that I didn't think possible. At least not till I met you. And now I can truly see myself having a family in the future so long as it is with you by my side, for your love has given me more strength than you can possibly imagine." Noelle couldn't help but laugh while also crying.

"S-So cheesy…" She whispered, mainly to herself than anyone else.

"Now then, the rings please." Father Orsi spoke, mildly choked up. Fuegoleon handed the rings, which the 2 took and nodded their thanks to him.

"Now Courtney place the ring on Nozel's finger and repeat: 'With this ring I thee wed'." Father Orsi instructed. Courtney then did so and said:

"With this ring I thee wed." Courtney repeated.

"And now Nozel you do the same." Father Orsi nodded. Like with what Courtney did for him, he put the other ring on Courtney's ring finger and said:

"With this ring I thee wed." He spoke.

"And now do you Nozel take Courtney as your wife to love, cherish, and respect till the rest of your days?" Father Orsi spoke.

"I do." Nozel replied.

"And do you Courtney take Nozel as your husband to love, cherish, and respect till the rest of your days?" Father Orsi asked.

"I do." Courtney spoke.

"Then by the power vested in me by the power of the Church I pronounce to you husband and wife." Father Orsi smiled. "You may kiss the bride." Nozel gently turned Courtney towards him with his right hand on her neck, then he kissed her deeply. The audience cheered and whistled, clapping happily for the happy couple as they moved back, both flushed but smiling happily.

"May I happily introduce for the first time Nozel and Courtney Silva." Father Orsi smiled.

"Aww Nozel." Noelle smiled. "I'm so happy for you!"

"Congratulations!" Asta grinned.

"Thanks Asta. Thanks Noelle." Nozel remarked coolly.

"So…off to the Elysia Elf Tribe for the reception?" Nebra chimed in as she approached Nozel and Courtney. Before either could answer, her Mother rushed over to Nozel and Courtney and hugged them both tightly.

"Give Acier a minute." Ren smiled.

"Oh my god….! I'm so happy for you two!" Queen Acier smiled brightly as she continued to hug Nozel and Courtney. "I now have the Vaude kids as my children-in-law. This is so wonderful!~"

"I see you trying to sneak out Langris, don't you bother trying." Ren smirked, not bothering to turn her head. Langris was not even halfway to the door when he heard Ren and he groaned loudly.

"Do I have to?" He asked.

"I can have Mimosa lock up the coffee from you for 2 months." Ren warned.

"You wouldn't dare…!" Langris grit his teeth.

"I did it to Nozel and I'll do it to you." Ren stated.

"It's true Langris." Mimosa approached with an "innocent" smile. "I'll lock up the coffee in the Golden Dawn base if I have to."

"And no cherry tarts for a month." David added.

"Damn you all!" Langris shouted out of irritation.

"Alright enough torturing the youngest Vaude. We already got the alcohol ready back home. So let's go party!" Koji grinned.

"You did make sure they didn't put out the heavy stuff, right?" Ren asked.

"Sure, sure." Koji waved off, as they began moving.

"Koji!" Noelle and Courtney simply laughed at Ren's scolding at Koji.

"Ah you worry too much. We'll be fine." Koji grinned.

"I told you, I dang told you to not take out the heavy stuff!"

"How was I supposed to know it'd get this many people drunk?!" It was well late into the night and already nearly half the guests for the makeshift reception party were drunk.

"You know our tribe's alcohol is a tad stronger than regular human alcohol!" Ren groaned. "I can't believe even Acier's drunk!"

"Laaa…~" Queen Acier hummed in a slurred tone.

"Oh gods she's sounding like Charmy. That isn't a good thing." Ren sweatdropped.

"And here I thought these guys would be heavy drinkers." Koji remarked.

"I think that title only goes to Mereoleona Vermillion." Ren sighed. "Ok, raise your hand if you're not drunk!" Mereoleona, Fuegoleon, Asta, Noelle, Nozel, and Courtney, to name a few, raised their hands to signal that they weren't drunk.

"Asta and Noelle dear." Shirley began, patting the 2's shoulders. "You don't need to raise your hands because you're not of age to drink alcohol yet."

"Ok minus the bride and groom, the rest of you are helping me carry these drunks to bed." Ren sighed.

"Oh alright." Mereoleona remarked. "But I'm not carrying any of them again after this."

"Fuegoleon I hate to ask you, but can you help with the tribe members?" Ren asked.

"Of course Ren." Fuegoleon nodded.

"Great now then let's-"

"It's mine woman!"

"Listen to your Queen!" They all blinked and looked to see a drunk Acier and Yami scowling at one another. Asta and Noelle sweatdropped, while Aci, in Asta's arms, just babbled and clapped her tiny hands. Cordelia and James were sleeping in Noelle's arms.

"I don't giva fuck about whatcha say!" Yami retorted in a slurred tone.

"What is going on here?" Ren deadpanned.

"It looks like Mother and Captain Yami are going to fight over that last glass of alcohol." Noelle answered with a sweatdrop.

"Fiii!" Aci giggled.

"Don't encourage a fight, Aci!" Fay groaned with a small hiccup.

"Fay, are you drunk?!" Asta gaped.

"Asta focus." Ren groaned.

"Ah, right." Asta laughed sheepishly.

"I don't think those 2 are gonna listen anyway." Koji sweatdropped.

"So what should we do?" Noelle asked.

"I give the orders and I say it's mine! *HIC*." Acier hiccups.

"I don't care bitchqueen! It's mine! Like it or not! *HIC*." Yami retorted.

"Yup. They are both completely out of it and drunk." Ren sighed. "Ok that's enough you-"

"Ah there it is~." A feminine voice purred. A blue haired elf took the glass from both Acier and Yami, making them both yell as she drank the alcohol in one gulp.

"Aah much better." She hummed.

"Hey!/You bitch!" Both Queen Acier and Yami growled at the bluette elf girl.

"L-L-Lunafreya?!" Ren gaped, utterly speechless.

"Mmm say Ren we should hold receptions often to drink the good stuff." The blue haired elf, Lunafreya smiled, shaking the glass.

"Oh crud! Lunafreya got drunk, we're so doomed….!" Koji laughed.

"Not drunk. Just tipsy." Lunafreya smirked, sky blue eyes bright with mischief.

"Drunk!" Ren and Koji panicked.

"Lunafreya's your name, huh? *HIC*." Yami retorted.

"How about…How about you pour another? *HIC*." Queen Acier added.

"So sorry, but you 2 drunks drank it all up~." Lunafreya cheered with a smirk.

"Wha?!" The 2 shouted.

"Ren, Koji, who is this?" Fuegoleon questioned.

"Huh? Oh that would be Lunafreya Caelum. She's a healer in the tribe, and one of the best." Ren replied.

"And a damn near menace that could put a leviathan to shame." Koji added with a weak grin. Fuegoleon looked at them before looking at Lunafreya. Her long dark blue hair contrasted against her pale skin, sky blue eyes, and wore a simple sleeveless white dress with boots and a woven belt as she chuckled at a pouting Queen Acier and an annoyed Yami.

"Ah." Fuegoleon replied. Despite his simple reply, Queen Acier looked over at the Crimson Lions Captain.

"Wat? Yu gotta thing for her or wat? *HIC*." Queen Acier asked him through another hiccup. Koji and Ren blinked, looking at Fuegoleon. While Lunafreya looked up to face the Crimson Lions Captain.

"Ah, you okay Your Majesty?" Fuegoleon asked the silverette Queen.

"Clearly not when she's this drunk. Bedtime for her, I believe." Lunafreya hummed, setting the glass down.

"Imma fine!" Queen Acier retorted haughtily in a slurred tone.

"Nope. She's right drunk as she is-"

"Tipsy." Lunafreya hummed.

"-You're going to bed." Ren finished.

"Why would I need some stupid sheets for ya weirdos?" Queen Acier retorted. "I'll justa do whateva that is ya want me to do out here."

"Ya know wat?" Yami stood up, holding his glass in his hand. "If we can't have that last glass, I'll just have us beat each other senseless! *HIC*."

"Ok yeah that's it. Charlotte, you're in charge of Yami. I got the pouty Queen over here." Ren sighed.

"Mmkay Ren…~" Charlotte spoke, but not in a normal tone. Instead, it was slurred.

"Who gave Charlotte alcohol!?" Ren gaped.

"Hehehehe~ Guilty~." A drunk Vanessa giggled.

"Yu wanna fight, Yami Sukehiro?" Queen Acier spoke as she too, stood up while also holding her glass. "Then take this!" She then did a hammer strike, smashing her glass atop of his head. Asta moved his right hand in front of Aci's eyes and covered them.

"Ah, you shouldn't be seeing that." He told his 2nd daughter.

"Ah no no. Such naughty children~" Lunafreya cooed, her grimoire out. Water began to form and easily circled around Queen Acier and Yami, making them yelp as they were then wrapped up by a leviathan of water.

"Oi! What's the big idea Luna what's-your-face?!" Yami demanded.

"Release us, ya bluette leviathan fanatic!" Queen Acier added.

"Oh good lord….!" Noelle groaned, almost not believing what she was witnessing her Mother doing. "Note to self: Make sure that there's no alcohol in House Silva when me and Asta get back to it."

"Bedtime~." Lunafreya sang, allowing the leviathan to split and carry them away.

"Uh… You made sure it's taking them to their huts right?" Koji asked.

"Why of course~ No where else." Lunafreya smiled.

"Okay good." Noelle sighed. "Now then, I'm going to bed. Come on Asta."

"Right!" Her husband agreed as he followed her.

"I'll drag the others then. Koji, you do the same for the tribe members here." Ren replied, to which Koji nodded in agreement.

"Will do." Koji nodded. As that went on, Nozel and Courtney watched from the side as everyone began to head inside their huts and guest huts respectively.

"Well, that happened." Nozel remarked. "Never thought I'd see my own Mother drunk."

"Though being drunk doesn't stop her from matchmaking." Courtney remarked amused, seeing Ren talk to Fuegoleon and Lunafreya.

"Ha. True." Nozel agreed.

The next day, Nozel woke up in the guest hut in Elysia that he and Courtney were sharing (And those that were drunk last ain't going home quite yet either.) and smelled something coming from downstairs.

"Ah. Looks like Courtney got up before I did." Nozel remarked to himself, glancing over at the clock on his bedside table. "I should probably get up myself and head downstairs." And with that, Nozel got up and out of his and Courtney's bed and headed downstairs. When he got downstairs, he saw Courtney cooking up breakfast. He took in her mid back length purple hair, and listened to her humming.

It's already been a day since our wedding, and she's getting well with our marriage already. Nozel thought. This is reminding me of when we began to get along after a few years of arguing before finally admitting our feelings for one another. Heh… I even remember when we first met…

Flashback, 16 years ago…

"Mother, what is the meaning of this?" A just turned 14 year old Nozel asked his Mother as they went to the doors of their estate.

"Oh come now Nozel!~" His Mother, Acier Silva, smiled happily. "I know you're not a fan of arranged marriages, and I'm not asking you to do so, nor am I forcing you into a marriage. You're still young. But I figured I'd introduce you to someone that would be a good match for you in the future possibly."

"Humph…" Nozel grunted. "Let's just get this over with…" Acier lightly smiled in amusement at her eldest son's words before she opened the door to reveal a dirty blondette girl at the front entrance, wearing earrings that bore the symbol of House Vaude on them, as well as a blouse and shorts.

"Hello." The dirty blonde girl spoke. Nozel looked her over and wanted to scoff, but one look from his Mother told him not to, so he didn't.

"Hello Courtney dear." Acier smiled. "I'm so happy that you could make it."

"Wasn't that hard." Courtney shrugged. "Still, glad to be out of my house, at least."

"Please come in." Acier told her as she stepped aside to let Courtney in, to which she did, much to Nozel's irritation. Acier looked at Nozel again; thus he sighed in defeat before following them to the living room area. Once the 3 sat down, Acier turned to Courtney, then Nozel.

"So, why don't you introduce yourself Courtney?" Acier asked her, a light smile on her face. Courtney glanced over at Acier, then at Nozel. Scowling, she nodded.

"Oh fine." Courtney replied. "My name's Courtney Roulacase, eldest child of Ledior Vaude. It's a pleasure to meet you." She said the last sentence towards Nozel with her teeth semi-clenched. Nozel stared at her semi-blankly before replying.

"I'm Nozel Silva, eldest son of Acier Silva."

"Hey." Courtney remarked coolly. Nozel looked over at his Mother as if to say "What is with her attitude?". His Mother looked back at her eldest son with a "Give it time." look. Nozel only shrugged.

As the 3 talked for a little while more, Acier eventually brought up a question to Courtney. A question Nozel despised at the time.

"So Courtney." Acier began. "When you turn 15, how would you like to be a part of the Silver Eagles Magic Knight Squad?"

"Mother…!" Nozel hissed. "What the actual hell…?"

"Why would I join a squad full of royals and nobles?" Courtney scowled in response. She then paused and shrugged. "But considering how kind you have been to me, I'll think about it, Captain Acier."

"That's all I ask dear." Acier smiled. Courtney nodded with a light smile on her face before she left House Silva. Nozel watched her go, his arms crossed. Once he was certain that she was gone, he turned to face his Mother.

"Mother, what is the point of this?" He asked.

"Mm? What do you mean Nozel?~" Acier asked her eldest son "innocently". Nozel on the other hand sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose in a sense of small irritation. This of course, made his Mother lightly smile in amusement.

Flashback end

Ha. That was a bit fun looking back on it. Nozel thought as he continued to watch Courtney. But that was just the beginning of Mother's shenanigans.

Flashback, 12 years ago…

"WHAT?!" A 17, soon-to-be 18 year old, Nozel slammed his hands on his Mother's Captain's desk in there House. "What is the meaning of this?! Why are you putting me and Courtney on the same mission?!"

"I am, Nozel dear." His Mother answered. "Besides, it'd be good for you and her to be on the same mission."

"Why's that?" Nozel demanded.

"Because Nozel dear." Acier began. "You have more experience as a Magic Knight compared to Courtney. Plus, having you as her superior will help her ease into the job a bit. After all, you 2 have also been friends for a few years now, right?~" Nozel only grit his teeth in frustration before crossing his arms.

"Oh alright!" Nozel snapped in defeat. "I'll let Courtney come with me on my next mission!"

"So happy to hear it Nozel dear.~" Acier smiled brightly.

"Yes yes, whatever." Nozel scowled. "So what's the mission?"

"Dungeon scouting." Acier answered, pushing a piece of paper towards Nozel's end of her desk. "You'll need a Spatial Mage to get you there and back. I know we have one on our squad already, but I believe Courtney should go on it. She needs the experience, after all."

"Yes yes." Nozel scoffed. "I'll go and tell her."

"Good to hear." Acier smiled lightly as her eldest son left her Captain's office room.

"What?!" Was Courtney's reaction after Nozel told her that he and her are going to be on the same mission together. "Is Captain Acier serious?!"

"She is." Nozel replied bluntly. "Not even I could get her to reconsider."

"Ugh!" Courtney groaned loudly in frustration.

"That's how I feel!" Nozel snapped before he scowled. "Whatever. Let's just get this mission done and over with."

"I couldn't agree more!" Courtney agreed.

"Good! So hurry up and make a portal, taxi!" Nozel snapped back.

"Right I'll-" Courtney began, then stopped upon hearing Nozel call her a taxi. "Excuse me?! I'm NO taxi!"

"Then stop whining and make the portal!" Nozel remarked coldly. "Please!" Courtney just grit her teeth in frustration and created a Spatial Magic portal for her, Nozel, and 3 other Silver Eagles squad members to go through to reach the mission's location. Or at least as close as Courtney can get them.

Once they got to the mission location about 20 or so minutes after Courtney's Spatial Magic portal brought them as close as they could, they went inside the dungeon. Unfortunately for the other 3 Silver Eagles that went with Nozel and Courtney, they had to endure the arguing from Nozel and Courtney.

"What the hell Courtney?!" Nozel snapped after her as they strided deeper into the dungeon after dealing with 5 traps already. "Stop being so reckless and springing all of these traps!"

"Me?!" Courtney snapped back. "You set off just as many as I did!"

"Why you little…!" Nozel grit his teeth in frustration.

"Oh boy…" One of the Silver Eagles muttered.

"This isn't going to end well, is it?" The second one asked.

"Nope." The third one agreed.

Unfortunately for the other 3 Silver Eagles, Nozel and Courtney's arguing continued even on there way to back the base-House Silva.

"I'll make sure to tell Mother NEVER to put us on the same mission team EVER again!" Nozel told Courtney angrily.

"Fine by me!" The 15 year old purplette (originally blondette) girl agreed. "It'll make BOTH of our lives way easier anyway!" The other 3 Silver Eagles just sweatdropped at the 2's antics before Courtney made a Spatial Magic portal, which the 5 Silver Eagles then went through that brought them back to the Silver Eagles base.

Flashback end

Despite our protests to Mother, she put us together on missions from that point forward. Nozel thought.

"Nozel dear." The eldest Silva child of Acier Silva snapped out of his thoughts and looked up at wife, Courtney.

"Ah, Courtney." Nozel remarked. "Mm? Oh. I see you were making breakfast."

"I'm nearly finished actually." She replied. "I was going to call you when it was ready, but it seems I didn't have to do that, since you're down here already and all."

"Ah, I see." Nozel hummed. "Well, here I am."

"Yes, here you are.~" Courtney smiled. "So, breakfast time for us." Nozel nodded as he helped Courtney get there breakfast onto the plates, then began to eat.

Back in the Clover Kingdom, the Amber Phoenix Magic Knight squad were training themselves up by sparring one another in 1 vs 1 matchups. A few (like Captain Fana) were doing more than 1 opponent matchups.

"Golden Eye Magic: Inferno Blast!" Within her Enchanted Armor, Alice lifted Mars up and slammed him into the ground before using her armor's eye sockets and fired multiple Golden Eye Magic beams, while having several Golden Eyes Magic laser beams fire from the crater her slam did with Mars's body. Mars, sensing the beams coming from all directions, raised his arms up and formed a Crystal Magic shield to defend him as the Golden Eye Magic beams bounced off of it.

"Careful!" Captain Fana called to Alice. "I need my Vice Captain alive!"

"Oh don't worry, he'll be fine!~" Elf Fana snickered. "After all, you need him for, ah, things I'd rather not say.~" Captain Fana found herself blushing hard, while the other Amber Phoenix squad members (minus Mars, who was equally embarrassed) tried there hardest not to laugh. Albeit to no avail.

"H-Hey!" Captain Fana pouted as she evaded a spell from Dazu.

"Keep your senses open, dear Captain!~" Dazu couldn't help but tease.

"Yeah!" Tyson grinned as he fired Burst Magic: Handy Cannon from the palm of his right hand towards the Amber Phoenix squad Captain. Captain Fana half turned and used her Phoenix Blade Flame Magic Spell to block Tyson's spell. Despite this, the impact pushed her back several feet.

"Tch…!" Captain Fana tsked. "Maybe trying to take on more than 1 of my own squad wasn't a good idea."

"Well, I'm only partially fighting you." Dazu pointed out. "I'm also using my Catalyst Magic to keep my Vanica Zogratis dummies up so Valeria can kick there asses for her own training."

"Oh." Captain Fana turned and saw Valeria facing off against Dazu's Catalyst Magic Vanica Zogratis dummies with her Earth Magic. "Do you think she'll go overboard?"

"It's fine if she does." Dazu remarked as she watched her Captain evade another attack from her Captain's elf counterpart before she did a counterattack with Flame Spirit Magic: Salamander's Breath, which Elf Fana evaded at the last minute, while Tyson created a barrier with his Burst Magic. Meanwhile, Valeria continued to use her Earth Magic and True Earth Magic to pummel the Vanica Zogratis dummies that Dazu kindly made for her.

Once I see you again, I'll destroy you! Vanica! Valeria thought to herself as she casted True Earth Magic: Mother Catastrophe on the Vanica Zogratis dummies. While they're not the real Vanica Zogratis, the spells the dummies used were close enough to the original that it made Valeria's skin crawl. But, because they were just dummies, they only possessed Vanica's Blood Magic and not Megicula's Curse-Warding Magic. Which oddly, relieved her and worried her. As well as hardening her resolve to defeat the real Vanica Zogratis for what she not only did to her, but to what she did to Lolopechka.

"I promise you Lolopechka…" Valeria muttered to herself. "I will defeat you, Vanica Zogratis…!"

0713MM: And that does it for Chapter 53! Phew! I am so sorry that this took so long to get finished! A lot of things happened (As well as lacking motivation DX), but I've finally gotten it done! So to summarize, Courtney and Nozel get married in this chapter! Whoo! I also threw in some flashbacks to show that there relationship is/was there. That, and I didn't want it to feel like Nozel and Courtney's marriage came out of nowhere. For a reminder: Each chapter during this 1 year training arc is roughly 1 month of time in the story. Hence why these chapters are appearing to be longer than the others prior. But! The big fights of the Spade Kingdom War Arc are coming up! So that's something to get excited about, right?!^^
