CHAPTER 5
The Dragonets of Destiny–minus NightWing Starflight since he was captured by the White Witch–and plus firescales SkyWing Peril since Clay recruited her–all went together to find out more about Narnia. However, as they were flying, they were stopped by a gryphon.
"A native creature of Narnia?" asked Clay.
"Naturally speaking for myself, yes." said the gryphon. "Are you the Dragonets of Destiny? I've read the prophecy set up by NightWing Morrowseer."
"We are." said Clay.
"Except there's a problem." said the gryphon. "The largest egg in mountain high will give to you the wings of sky…where is the SkyWing?"
"Kestrel told us that our SkyWing was killed in the egg along with the IceWing bringing it." said Glory. "I'm the RainWing substitute, Glory."
"Understandable." said the gryphon.
As the gryphon proceeded to walk away, Clay exclaimed at him to wait. The gryphon turned around.
"Isn't there the Great Lion Aslan to deal with?" asked Tsunami. "Can you take us to him?" she asked.
The gryphon sighed. "Very well." said the gryphon. He proceeded to have the dragons follow him to Aslan.
When the dragons and the gryphon landed where Aslan would reside–which was a big tent–the gryphon told the Centaur that Aslan's presence was needed. The centaur nodded, and everyone bowed before Aslan.
When Aslan came out of the tent, Clay was amazed.
"Welcome Clay, Wings of Mud. Welcome Tsunami, Wings of Sea. Welcome Glory, Wings of Rain. And Welcome Sunny, Wings of Sand." said Aslan. "But where is Starflight, the Wings of Night?"
"That's why we are here, Aslan." said Clay. "Our friend Starflight was taken from us."
"I see." said Aslan. "As if Morrowseer wasn't enough for this…prophecy…he thought up." he said.
"Yeah, Morrowseer and Battlewinner came up with the Dragonet Prophecy for Pyrrhia." said Clay.
"But the largest egg in Mountain High will give to you the Wings of Sky…" said Aslan. "What has happened to your SkyWing dragonet of destiny?" asked Aslan.
"The SkyWing egg was broken, and Queen Scarlet destroyed all the SkyWing eggs that were supposed to hatch on our brightest night." said Glory. "Webs stole my egg from the rainforest."
"I see." said Aslan.
"Can you help us rescue Starflight?" asked Clay.
"Well, Narnia does need help too." said Aslan. "They need to get rid of Morrowseer and his NightWing army."
"Very well." said Clay. "Take us with you."
The Dragonets of Destiny and Peril followed Aslan. But Aslan told Peril to halt.
"What is it?" asked Peril.
"This will get rid of your firescales." said Aslan.
Peril's firescales were gone. Not only was she not able to burn anything flammable that touched, but she was also made a loyal SkyWing to the Great Lion Aslan.
"Where is Peril?" asked Queen Scarlet.
Scarlet was disappointed when she found out that Peril went with the Dragonets of Destiny. However, Jadis the White Witch was pleased with Starflight, who was displayed as "artwork" for the White Witch until Morrowseer was able to pick him up.
"So Starflight is your new artwork?" asked Ginarrbrik.
"Yes…NightWings–from what I was told–are rare." said the White Witch. "But this NightWing…I have to see what powers he has. Can he read my mind? Can he see the future? Or does he have both?" she wondered.
Morrowseer later arrived for Starflight with the backup Dragonets of Destiny, which consisted of MudWing Ochre, SeaWing Squid, SkyWing Flame, NightWing Fatespeaker, and SandWing Viper. He was also accompanied by Queen Battlewinner's daughter Princess Greatness, who was substituting for the NightWing queen due to her being confined to a lava cauldron because of the frostbreath down her throat.
"Are you here for the NightWing?" asked Jadis the White Witch to Morrowseer.
"Yes…I am." answered Morrowseer.
Morrowseer ordered Greatness to snatch Starflight. Scarlet later growled.
"I wanted to see that NightWing fight another dragon!" yelled Scarlet.
"I wonder what Morrowseer is going to do with Starflight…" wondered the White Witch.
"He might see if he hatched with powers." said Scarlet. "Vermilion!" yelled Scarlet.
"Yes, Your Majesty?" asked Vermilion.
"Fetch my defendant." said Scarlet.
Vermilion went to fetch Scarlet's defendant, which happened to be Kestrel. The White Witch later approached Kestrel.
"Hmph." said the White Witch. "This is one of your soldiers?" she asked.
"Not anymore." said Scarlet as she took the White Witch's ice staff. Kestrel was later turned into stone by Scarlet.
"Hmph." grunted Princess Burn. "Disappointing." she proclaimed.
"Well, Kestrel did disobey me, her queen." Scarlet proclaimed. She later left with Princess Burn.
"This will likely be another statue for me…" said Jadis the White Witch.
