Hope likes to think of herself as someone who is smarter than a fifth grader, however, most certainly not as smart to be offered a Stark Industries internship at fifteen. So while she was excited about the opportunity of a lifetime, really, she was confused towards the point that she started asking her fellow candidates, whom she had recognized from the assembly, what they thought. She started with Mj because they had some classes together.

"It's kinda weird, yea." Hope surmised that was all she was going to get.

Throughout the day she received a handful of responses that began to sound the same; the overconfident - I am definitely going to get in, the overachiever - I've been waiting for this day for my whole damn life, my entire lifetime, the rare underconfident - not gonna try applying I know I won't get in, and the offended - hmf you should be glad you were even chosen this is super rare.

Thus, by the end of the day she was drained of her social lifeblood.

She just got home when her parents walked in.

"H your home. How was your first day?" Hope's dad asked.

"It was great. You'll never guess what happened."

"Someone's excited." Hope's mom commented.

"You know Tony Stark came to the school and-"

"From Stark Industries?"

"Yea he said I can apply for an internship!"

Kate's and Jake's eyes grew larger with the unexpected news as Hope continued. She explained what had transpired at the assembly. Her parents were reasonably shocked at the unexpected news.

"We are so proud of you, Hope." Jake exclaimed.

"It is amazing but a little weird, don't ya think." Hope, the vigilant skeptic said.

"It is conventional, but a great opportunity." Kate said.

The family then naturally conversed on each other's day, with Hope at the lead.

Friday, 5:34pm

Peter was in his room just about to head out on another round of his spiderly duties when he heard a knock at the front door.

"Peter, I'm home." Aunt May called.

Peter ventured towards the front of the apartment until he saw his aunt.

"Hey, how was school?" May said as they hugged.

"It was great! Tony was there at the assembly and he just gave me an internship. He said I start Monday after school. Can I go?"

"Hold on, you're talking about the smart people assembly?"

"He said I can work for him as an intern, even though I don't have a resume or anything."

Peter was speaking at lighting speed, which promoted May to need clarification. After she could visualize the picture, she gave her ruling.

"I don't know. Something is fishy. I'm going to have to call him." May was skeptical due to the unconventional way in which it was done. No one had even informed her that this was going down.

"But what do you mean?"

"I'll talk to Tony and we can discuss it later. I feel so lucky to have you as my nephew, ya know."

Before Peter could answer, May said "There are new neighbors a few doors down. We should surprise them with a cake casserole."

"Is n' it kind of late?"

"Not if we hurry."

"Did you finish your homework?"

Peter was thinking of a way to get out of the task so that he can be a friendly neighborhood spider but was coming up short of ideas. It would be problematic if May came into his room and he wasn't there. Peter had already figured this out by the time May asked the question. He responded in a timely manner with the truth.

"I only have one more assignment."

"Well hurry up and finish it."

"Wait, did you say 'cake casserole?'"

"I wanna try this recipe I found." May said, a bit too excitedly.

Friday, 7:23pm

After two failed attempts at the cake casserole (which shall not be spoken about) May went to the grocery store and bought a plant. May and Peter walked a few doors down to the apartment of their new neighbors.

May knocked on the door. "Hello stranger neighbor. We heard you just moved in and wanted to give you a house warming gift."

"Oh thank you."

"I'm May and this is Peter."

"I'm Jake. Nice to meet you. I would invite you guys in but we still have to unpack some."

"Oh no, it's late anyway." May responded kindly.

Just then a voice expressed frustration with "HAA, these questions are so annoying! Can you help me with them Dad?"

"Hope, this is May and Peter."

As Hope began to say her greetings Peter said " Don't you go to Midtown?"

"Yea. You're Peter, right?"

"Yea. I can't believe we're neighbors."

"You know my daughter." Jake said.

"We go to school together, Dad. So Peter, isn't the application a bit weird. One of the questions literally said 'how have your parents responded to this achievement?'"

Before Peter could respond May said "You were at that assembly too?"

"Yes. To be honest I find the whole thing strange. I mean I just transferred and my parents didn't even know about it."

"It is mind boggling. Peter actually already got accepted. It's great, but I didn't know either. " May said.

"Congratulations. Thanks for stopping by." Jake said, ending the conversation as it was rather late.

"Nice meeting you. See you at school."

"I hope you enjoy your plant, Hope." May quipped.

Author's Notes: Hope everyone is whelmed. Am I characterizing the characters correctly? Especially Ned and May as they're supposed act like the recent MCU adaptations (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home). Please leave respectful feedback if you want. I left references, mostly in the beginning of the chapter to, depending on how you look at it, TV shows, songs, and games. Can you catch em all? Hint: There're about five depending on how you look at it. {Mega Hint: There's one in the first sentence.} :)
