Mr. Scatterbrain's house was strangely quiet in the gathering darkness. The best friends stood in front of it, straining to hear any kind of sound. But they heard nothing. The lack of life was starting to spook Mr. Nosy, who was hoping to see some kind of evidence that nothing was wrong; but it felt strange here.. Where's all of his animals? the light green Mr. Man wondered, having a bad feeling.

He noticed his small buddy walking over to the front door, slowly, as if he didn't want to see what the walls of the house hid from the outside world.

With a terrified gulp, Mr. Nosy followed him, glancing around fearfully for Tyler. He didn't see anything move or hear a sound, but that was even more unsettling to him. He held onto the toy lemur tightly, ready to throw it if the human did show up.

The friends shared a glance when they got to the door, and, after Mr. Small gave him an encouraging nod, Mr. Nosy put his ear to the door and listened. But he still didn't hear anything. With a shake of his head, the light green Mr. Man pulled away, a frown on his face. He didn't dare speak, too nervous to break the eerie silence.

Mr. Small hopped into the air and turned the knob, pushing the door open a tiny bit before dropping back to the ground. Then he placed his hand on the door, uncertainty shining in his eyes as he slowly opened it all the way.

Suddenly a loud creaking sound echoed throughout the house, startling the two. They gasped, and Mr. Small jumped into Mr. Nosy's hands as the light green Mr. Man dropped the stuffed animal; they stood there in the doorway, shaking with fear. But then they realized that it had been the door that made that sound, and they shared an uneasy chuckle. Mr. Nosy felt his face burn with embarrassment as his friend hopped back to the ground.

Tyler has us terrified! he thought with a sigh, bending over to pick up the toy.

Ignoring the creak of the door, Mr. Nosy pushed it the rest of the way open and looked into the dark house. He couldn't see anything inside. He knew how odd this was since Mr. Scatterbrain always kept his binders open even at night.

Feeling the wall next to the door, he felt a rush of relief when his fingers touched the switch and he flipped it up; the whole living room was engulfed in bright light.

There was no sign of movement which was really weird. Normally, this whole house was alive with all of Mr. Scatterbrain's animals running around.

Mr. Nosy backed up, shaking his head. "D-Do we have to do this?" he whispered. He stared into the living room, realizing for the first time that it was a huge mess. The TV was broken into pieces on the floor; all the chairs and sofa were laying on their backs or sides; and there were other little things shattered about. But there was still no sound which made Mr. Nosy very uneasy.

What if they found something horrible in there? Tyler seemed very unpredictable, and there was no telling what he could have done with Mr. Scatterbrain if he was posing as him.

"Yes," the small Mr. Man replied to his friend as he turned to him. "Mr. Scatterbrain is our friend, so we owe it to him to make sure he's okay." He glanced into the silent house. "I have a bad feeling about this though," he added quietly, and Mr. Nosy could only guess how he was feeling, his friend facing away from him now, so he couldn't see his expression.

"B-But we don't even know for certain if T-Tyler has done anything to him," Mr. Nosy pointed out, trying to ignore the fact that there has been no sign of the magenta Mr. Man or any of his animals since they got here. Part of him had been hoping they would find Mr. Scatterbrain safe at home, but now that hope had vanished. Where could he be?

Mr. Small glanced at his best friend. "I'm almost certain that Tyler has done something to our friend," he said with deep sadness. "I don't want it to be true just as much as you, but we need to check on him just in case."

The light green Mr. Man knew he was right; Micheal showing up looking like Little Miss Calamity couldn't have just been for show. Right after the humans left, they started to think about the last time they had seen the Little Miss. Mr. Small had remembered that she had shown up that morning along with Mr. Scatterbrain, and the small Mr. Man explained that they didn't seem like themselves, but he didn't think he needed to worry about it then.

"But apparently I was wrong not to worry," Mr. Small had said when they realized that the people who showed up to their house to meet the red haired girl hadn't been their friends at all. "Because of me, Tyler was able to get to Scarlet." He had looked guilty, and he still did as they went to go check on their missing friends.

Mr. Nosy had stepped up to comfort his buddy, pointing out that they had fooled both of them. Then he reminded him about the day Scarlet had arrived in Dillydale, and that they had witnessed how strange Mr. Scatterbrain had been acting. And yet neither of them even considered that it wasn't really him and instead of an evil being who is after the young human for a reason they still didn't know.

That's why they were at Mr. Scatterbrain's house now, realizing if Tyler and Micheal had posed as the couple then that meant their real friends could be in trouble. They hoped they were here because Little Miss Calamity's house was on the other side of Dillydale, and here and there were the only places they could think to look for them.

The best friends finally worked up enough nerve to walk into the house, glancing all around in hopes of seeing any sort of life. Mr. Nosy stepped over a cushion that was now laying in the middle of the room.

"What happened here?" he wondered out loud, looking around at the mess.

Suddenly a loud crash came from the kitchen, making both of them jump and scoot closer together, trembling. Mr. Nosy hugged the toy lemur like his life depended on it, and some part of him was convinced it did.

Then there was another crash.

Putting his finger to his lips to silently tell his friend to stay quiet, Mr. Small slowly began to walk in the direction of the racket. He stopped before he entered the other room, pressing his back against the wall; he singled to Mr. Nosy to move to the other wall which he did.

The light green Mr. Man realized how weird this felt, all this sneaking around in fear of being caught and most likely harmed if they were caught. This is all Tyler's fault! he thought, wishing so much that Tyler never showed up. They've only just recently found out about him and he's terrified them so much that they're scared of finding him around every corner. Please don't let it be him!

Again, another crash, and then the lights in the kitchen switched on.

Mr. Small looked at his friend, giving him a nod, but Mr. Nosy didn't understand what he wanted him to do. What could he do? He was no match for Tyler, and if he went into the kitchen and found himself facing the evil being… He didn't even want to think what would happen!

Mr. Small opened his mouth, but he was interrupted by footsteps. Then he only pointed to something in Mr. Nosy's hand, and suddenly the light green Mr. Man remembered that he was holding the toy lemur that was apparently Tyler's weakness. He lifted it, ready to throw it when Tyler appeared, but then he noticed the shadow that was reflected by the lights, and he realized it didn't look human.

A monkey entered the living room, holding a banana that it piled back before tossing it in its mouth. The creature seemed unaware of the two Mr. Men as it walked by. Mr. Nosy watched curiously as Mr. Scatterbrain's pet threw the skin of the banana on the floor like it didn't care about making a bigger mess.

"Well, that's at least one animal accounted for," Mr. Small said as he walked over to his best friend, keeping his eyes on the monkey.

The animal spun around, and he began to jump up and down as he made loud squeaky noises. The two friends look at the monkey, hoping he would recognize them. But he only carried on with his fit, pointing toward the kitchen. They didn't understand what he was trying to tell them.

Mr. Small finally took a few steps toward the monkey. "It's okay," he told him. Then he eyed him, studying him. "Bunko, right?"

But the monkey didn't even acknowledge the small Mr. Man, only pushed past him and suddenly ran toward Mr. Nosy, who backed away. He didn't know what he wanted, but his sudden action startled him.

Before he could stop him, Bunko snatched the toy out of Mr. Nosy's hand and took off with it into the kitchen.

"Hey!" he called after him, giving chase. He was surprised to see that there was no sign of the monkey in the other room, although he had just seen him run in here. But he noticed there was a big mess in here as well.

Mr. Small joined him. He glanced around before pointing to the other side of the kitchen where the door that led to the stairs going downwards were wide open. "The basement!" he exclaimed, walking over there with his friend right behind him.

When they got into the doorway, they glanced down to find themselves staring at a large group of all kinds of animals laying all shattered on the floor, looking very tired and barely moving. Bunko walked over to three more monkeys, seeming to say something to them as he pointed to the toy he was still holding before gesturing to the two Mr. Men who stood on the top step.

One of them glanced at the best friends, and then he turned back to Bunko, making noises as if in response to whatever Bunko said.

Bunko only nodded and ran back up the stairs, holding on tight to the toy lemur. When he was back with the Mr. Men, he handed the stuffed animal to Mr. Nosy, who took it, glad that he had it once more in case Tyler appears. Just having it near him made him think they might be able to defeat the evil being.

Maybe this is why Scarlet felt like she needed to keep it with her even if she didn't understand, he realized with shock, but the more he thought about it, the more sense it made.

He was knocked out of his thoughts by many different animal noises as all of Mr. Scatterbrain's pets seemed to be talking all at once, some of them sounding like they barely had enough energy to even open their mouths.

"I think they're trying to tell us something," Mr. Small murmured as he hopped down the stairs; Mr. Nosy ran to catch up with his best friend right as the small Mr. Man jumped off the last step and landed on solid ground once more. Bunko was right behind them, and as soon as Mr. Small left the stairs, the monkey pulled him toward the door that was down here. He let go, pointed at the door, and jumped up and down.

Curious, Mr. Nosy walked over to them and put his ear against the door. He thought he could hear muffled voices, so he pressed closer to it, determined to make out what they were saying.

"They will quiet down soon," a Mr. Man was promising, but Mr. Nosy heard the worry in his tone.

The voice of a Little Miss replied to him, sounding terrified. "B-But what if it's h-him?"

There was no answer, and Mr. Nosy wondered what they were doing. He knew his magenta friend would do anything to reassure his girlfriend.

Mr. Nosy pulled away from the door when they didn't speak again.

"Well?" his best friend asked, looking up at the light green Mr. Man.

Nodding, Mr. Nosy told him," It's Mr. Scatterbrain and Miss. Calamity."

Relief flashed in Mr. Small's eyes. "We need to get in there to make sure they're okay," he said with a nod toward the door, but when Mr. Nosy tried to open it, it wouldn't budge.

The light green Mr. Man kept turning the knob and pulling at it until he lost his grip and stumbled backwards, almost landing on a couple of penguins, but they were able to move out of the way before he fell to the floor.

Mr. Nosy sat there in a daze, not understanding what was happening. Why wouldn't the door open? He knew it didn't open from the inside, but the last time he and Mr. Small were down here, they were able to open the door from the outside.

A gasp came from the other side of the door followed by the Mr. Man calling out," You better get out of here, now!"

As Mr. Nosy got to his feet, Mr. Small took a step toward the door. "Mr. Scatterbrain?" he asked nervously.

It was silent for a moment before the magenta Mr. Man spoke again. "Mr. Small? Is that you?"

But Mr. Small didn't answer his question, and Mr. Nosy guessed he didn't feel the need to since it was obviously him. Instead he asked," Are you okay, Mr. Scatterbrain?"

It was silent for a moment. Then Mr. Scatterbrained called," How do we know that it's really you?" Quickly, he added," I mean, how are we supposed to know that you're really Mr. Small? You could be that guy pretending to be him again!"

The friends exchanged a glance; Mr. Nosy knew that he must be talking about Tyler. "We're not him; I promise!" the light green Mr. Man called out. "You can trust us." But there's no telling who we can trust with Tyler out there…

Before Mr. Scatterbrain could say anything, Mr. Nosy and Mr. Small were pushed aside by one of Mr. Scatterbrain's pets; the monkey stopped in front of the door, and started to jump up and down while making loud noises. It sounded like he was concerned for his owner.

"Bunko?" the scatterbrained Mr. Man asked through the door, and Bunko put his paw on the door and let out a soft squeak. "It's okay," Mr. Scatterbrain assured his pet, but Mr. Nosy heard the fear in his voice. "We'll be out soon; I promise."

Mr. Nosy shared a glance with his little friend, and the look on his face told him that Mr. Small also had doubts about getting their friends out.

The door won't open, the light green Mr. Man thought, walking over to it and looking it up and down. It still looked like the same door they always saw in his basement, so why couldn't they get it open? Is it possible that Tyler put some kind of spell on it? The moment he thought that, he realized that was what was going on. But then that meant there was no way for them to open it since they didn't have magic.

A light caught his attention, and he looked down at the toy lemur to see a glow coming from its chest. This startled him and caused him to drop the stuffed animal. The moment it hit the ground, the whole thing lit up with a bright yellow light and it began to float in the air.

"What in the world?" Mr. Small gasped, taking several steps away from the toy. "What did you do?" He turned to his friend with huge eyes.

"N-Nothing!" Mr. Nosy stammered, not looking away for a second as the toy animal shot a beam of light from its chest and hit the door. To his amazement the whole door started to glow until finally it stopped and the toy fell to the ground, the light vanishing.

The best friends stood there staring down at it before turning to each other; Mr. Nosy could see that his little friend had no idea what just happened. He didn't know either. Did Tyler do something to the toy? Thinking that, the light green Mr. Man suddenly remembered the two on the other side of the door. "Mr. Scatterbrain?" he called out. "Miss. Calamity?"

It was quiet for several moments, in which Mr. Nosy felt his heart beating painfully against his chest, fearing the worst. But then his magenta friend spoke up, the anger and fear in his voice a shock. "Get out of here right now!" he demanded. "Our friends will find you and stop you!"

Mr. Small glanced at Mr. Nosy, his eyes wide with shock, before turning back to the door and opening his mouth like he was going to tell Mr. Scatterbrain that they weren't Tyler. But suddenly a strong urge hit Mr. Nosy, and he reached out his hand, turning the knob and pulling it toward him. This time the door opened.

Happiness surged through Mr. Nosy as he realized that they could get to their friends now. He flung it all the way open, revealing Mr. Scatterbrain standing in front of him, while his girlfriend hid herself behind him.

Fear flashed on Mr. Scatterbrain's face, but he still stretched out his arms as if to protect Little Miss Calamity, who grabbed hold of her boyfriend. "I warned you," the scatterbrained Mr. Man said, sounding like he had to force himself to go on. "Our friends will be here any moment now!"

Mr. Nosy glanced down at Mr. Small, frowning. What was it going to take for them to realize that they weren't Tyler in disguise? Suddenly an idea came to the light green Mr. Man.

"Mr. Scatterbrain," he began slowly, trying to take a step toward him, but he froze and retreat back to where he was standing when the Little Miss let out a terrified whimper which made Mr. Scatterbrain wrap his arm around her; Mr. Nosy didn't want to scare them anymore than they already were. "Do you remember that time when we thought you were missing because your front door was open?"

The magenta Mr. Man looked at him for a while, seeming to search his memory. "It was… at night?" he asked.

"Yes," Mr. Nosy replied, hope rising in his heart. "It was the first time we met your elephant." He gestured to the large beast laying down in the other room, looking too tired to even lift her head. "Do you remember anything else from that night?"

Mr. Scatterbrain was silent for a moment. "A few things," he answered. "What do you remember?"

Quickly, Mr. Nosy told him everything that happened that night from when they first discovered that his door was open to when they shared a late night meal. The whole time Mr. Scatterbrain stared at him, nodding every now and again like he remembered what Mr. Nosy was telling him. When he had finally finished, there was a thoughtful expression on his face.

"You could be the real Mr. Nosy," he murmured, but he still eyed them, uncertainty.

"But how can we be sure?" asked Little Miss Calamity, looking at her boyfriend before turning back to the best friends. "It could be him trying to trick us again."

Mr. Nosy glanced at her. "Do you remember the night of the full moon when we helped you get rid of the ghost in your house?"

The Little Miss's eyes grew wide. "Yes," she replied, but then she crossed her arms and muttered," But I remember it differently. You two ruined my house in your 'ghost hunt', and I was the ghost all along!" she pointed out.

Embarrassment washed over Mr. Nosy. "S-Sorry about that," he stammered, while his best friend murmured a similar apology. "But now do you believe it's really us?" the light green Mr. Man asked.

The couple glanced at each other. Then they turned back to their friends. "We will believe you for now," Mr. Scatterbrain responded. "But we will keep an eye on you, and if you slip up, we will know that you aren't the real Mr. Nosy and Mr. Small."

"That sounds fair," Mr. Small replied. "With Tyler out there, it's hard to tell what is real and what's not. But there is something we need to do."

"What's that?" Little Miss Calamity asked, finally coming out of hiding and standing beside her boyfriend.

"We have to rescue Scarlet," the small Mr. Man said.

Mr. Scatterbrain shared a glance with the Little Miss and then turned back to Mr. Small. "Who?" he asked, sounding confused.

"We'll tell you everything we know on the way." Mr. Small began to walk back to the stairs before his friends could say anything else, and the others ran to catch up to him, all climbing upward in silence.

When they were in the kitchen, Mr. Scatterbrain gasped. "What happened here?"

"My guess is your pets were trying to find food," Mr. Nosy replied to him, but that made a question pop in his head. "You two were locked down there for quite a while," he said, though he regretted phasing it like that when he noticed the fear flash in Little Miss Calamity's eyes, but he quickly went on before she could relive that time. "What did you eat?" he asked them.

Mr. Scatterbrain had begun to pick up a few broken plates; he looked up when Mr. Nosy asked him that. "Peanuts," he answered, and Mr. Nosy remembered that Mr. Scatterbrain had tons of bags of peanuts in that room in his basement.

"Nothing but peanuts." Little Miss Calamity sighed heavily. "I need some real food."

"We can worry about that later," Mr. Small said as he started heading toward the living room.

The couple looked after him before turning to Mr. Nosy. "Come on," the light green Mr. Man told them, hurrying after his best friend.

"We need to find Tyler," Mr. Small announced when the others joined him.

Little Miss Calamity gasped, and instantly Mr. Scatterbrain wrapped his arms around her to comfort her. "Why would we want to find him?" the magenta Mr. Man asked.

Impatience flashed in Mr. Small's eyes and he headed to the front door. "We'll explain on the way," he promised as Mr. Nosy followed him, but suddenly the light green Mr. Man noticed that the couple had stopped in the middle of the living room.

"We're not going anywhere until you explain what's going on." Mr. Scatterbrain pulled his girlfriend closer to him as if to make a point that he wasn't going to put her in danger.

He's right, thought Mr. Nosy, knowing that they couldn't just drag them along without telling them where they were going or what they had planned. I just hope we aren't here for much longer. He gripped on tight to the toy lemur, forcing himself not to think about what Tyler could be up to while they stood here, talking.

Mr. Small walked over to them and sighed. "A few days ago, we met this girl named Scarlet," he began, plunging into the details while Mr. Nosy stood by, adding onto what his friend said whenever he could, and wishing they could be on their way to stop Tyler. Even though they still had no idea how to do that.
