Edgeworth and Gumshoe stood together in the visitor's room. With the news Edgeworth received the night before, he had no choice but to wait until morning for visiting hours to start. While he was remaining calm, Gumshoe was struggling to do so. "I can't believe this, sir! Ms. von Karma, arrested for murder! I mean...!"
"Calm yourself, Detective." Edgeworth said with a bit of an authoritative voice. "You'll do nothing but irritate her should she elect to actually show up before us. I want to hear from her what happened."
"Sir..." Gumshoe nodded slowly. But he was pouting a bit. Even if Franziska whipped him a little too much at times, he knew she would never actually go so far as to kill someone!
About a few minutes later, someone else arrived. It was Maya, and she was huffing and puffing due to the sprint that she had to endure. "Whew...hah...wow...that was a longer run than I thought..."
"Whoa, pal!" Gumshoe was shocked to see Maya.
"Ms. Fey?" Edgeworth turned, quirking a brow at her arrival. "What are you doing here?"
"What am I doing here? Franziska called me here!" Maya explained. She took a seat, huffing and puffing a bit. "She used her phone call to let me know she'd been arrested! But I was a little surprised she didn't call you first, Edgeworth."
"Oh, I already told her I was gonna do that!" Gumshoe explained. "I was present on the scene when she was arrested. It was terrible, I tell ya! I tried to tell 'em they had the wrong person, but..."
"But there is evidence to the contrary, so your words were brushed aside and ignored." Edgeworth stated. Gumshoe slumped over. Classic Gumshoe, speaking and acting with his heart before anything else. Not that it was a terrible quality, but it often resulted in him putting his foot in his mouth.
"Yeah..." Gumshoe sighed.
"Well, I'm glad to be someone she considers calling for help." Maya clasped her hands together. But at the same time, she did frown. "Still, I'm worried..."
"As am I." Edgeworth's finger tapped along his forearm. Franziska had never been put into this sort of situation before. He knew she could be strong, but she was just as vulnerable as well underneath it all. But he was the only one who knew this.
"But why worry...when the one who steals the truth is on your side!?"
"...Who said that?" Maya blinked and looked around. That wasn't a voice she was familiar with.
But then, she appeared, swift as the wind...by walking through the door, normally. It was Kay Faraday, arms crossed as her scarf wavered in the breeze created from the air conditioning. "Kay Faraday is here to help save the day!"
"Kay?" Edgeworth tilted his head slightly, surprised to see that Kay was on the scene.
"Kay, pal! You made it!" Gumshoe was happy to see a familiar face.
"Of course I was going to show up, Gummy! When you called me, just knew I had to help." Kay exclaimed with a wide grin. "And with Mr. Edgeworth here, I just know we'll crack this case!"
"Uh." Maya was feeling a little out of the loop here. So she had to break the ice herself. "Who's your friend here?"
"You didn't tell me someone else was here!" Kay gasped when she saw Maya, and then cleared her throat. Edgeworth and Gumshoe were about to speak, but she beat them to the punch. "I am the raven that flies in the night sky! I am the thief that only steals one thing; the truth! I am Kay Faraday, the Yatagarasu!"
"I see she still plans to introduce herself like that..." Edgeworth said nothing, but his thoughts said plenty.
"Whooooa!" Maya's eyes lit up, and she clasped her hands together with a nod. "I've heard of the Yatagarasu! Does this mean you can leap from building to building in a single bound?"
"Not yet, but I've been training so I can!" Kay grins in response.
"No, she's not." Edgeworth said immediately. He was not going to let either of them get such ridiculous ideas in their head.
"Killjoy." Maya and Kay said at the same time. Edgeworth could already feel that brow of his growing increasingly furrowed.
"It's nice to meet you, Kay! I'm Maya Fey, a spirit medium in training!" Maya finally introduced herself. "I didn't know Edgeworth had any friends! Especially around my age!"
"Tch...!" Edgeworth nearly recoiled from how blunt Maya's words were.
"I'm also his assistant when the time calls for it!" Kay said proudly. "We've solved a bunch of cases together, and with Gummy's help as well!"
"Gumshoe?" Maya turned to Gumshoe, who nodded. "It sounds like you guys have some history. While I'm not trying to butt in, I am here to help if Franziska's in trouble!"
"I want to help too!" Kay and Maya shook hands. "So we're going to work hard to help Mr. Edgeworth solve this case!"
"Good to see you two becoming pals!" As if Gumshoe was worried about it. In fact, the two of them getting along if they ever met, was probably always going to happen.
The doors on the other side of the block began to open. The stiff policeman who was always standing guard did not budge an inch. Franziska slowly walked out, staring at the group in front of her. For a moment, she debated turning around walking back into her cell. But instead, she decided to sit. First, her gaze when to Edgeworth. "Have you come to relish in the sight and mock me, Miles Edgeworth?"
"It doesn't hurt to see everything from behind bars every now and again. I know I've been there." Edgeworth spoke while crossing his arms. "Are you well?"
"I've seen better days." Franziska replied. Her eyes looked...tired. Considering what she had been through, on top of police questioning, it was clear she was exhausted. Who knew if she even got any sleep. She was also lacking her whip.
"Franziska!" Maya's hands unintentionally slammed on the table in front of her. "What happened!?"
"As you've probably heard, I've been accused and charged with murder." She closed her eyes, a deep sigh escaping her. She was trying to remain calm, or perhaps she was too tired to be angry.
"Franziska, will you explain what happened from the beginning?" Edgeworth asked.
"Oh, and why should I do that?" Franziska opened her eyes and looked to Edgeworth. "I have no doubt in my mind that you'll take this opportunity to try and prosecute me. Not that I would blame you for the attempt." Given the circumstances, if the situation was reversed, she'd do the same. She practically did a few weeks ago.
"Mr. Edgeworth wouldn't try to put you behind bars! Or, uh...more behind bars." Kay tried to defend Edgeworth. She knew how he operated! Edgeworth, however, didn't respond at first. "Mr. Edgeworth! Say something!"
"I simply want to gather all the facts I can first and foremost. I cannot say if she's innocent or not yet." Edgeworth stated.
"The correct response." Franziska replied. Edgeworth was right to doubt her. She was arrested for a reason. "I'll give you the basics, at the very least. Not that I know what good it will do you. Last night, I was finishing up my follow up investigation of my previous trial. I made my way to King's Storehouse, as one of the storage units there had evidence concerning that case. I opened the door, and when I did, I saw the victim, lying there. I think the shock made me pass out."
"You think?" Edgeworth asked.
"Unfortunately, it was all extremely sudden. So I can't say I remember very well." Franziska was oddly clammy.
"Hey, you can talk to us! We're..." Maya began.
"None of you here are my lawyers. Especially Miles Edgeworth. So speaking too much would not be for my benefit." Franziska stated, still under the belief she'd be seeing him on the prosecution's bench. It wasn't a possibility he could deny either.
"Then why did you even call me-!?" Maya frowned. Franziska glanced away when asked that question, her mouth shut. She wasn't answering.
"Aw, come on!" Kay frowned. "We came here to help you! It'll be just like our previous investigations! Gummy will be in charge and-!"
"Uh, actually..." Gumshoe chimed in, sadly. "I'm not the one in charge of the investigation this time around..."
"HUH!?" Maya and Kay gasped at the same time.
"But you're always in charge of them!" Maya pointed at Gumshoe. A crime where Gumshoe wasn't in charge!? Unheard of! He was their best source for intel!
While Edgeworth was used to Gumshoe being the one in charge of a crime scene, it wasn't such an earth shattering revelation to him. The police force was more than just Gumshoe, after all. "If you are not the one heading this investigation, then who is?"
"One of the newer guys." Gumshoe rubbed the back of his neck. "He's a hot shot. Also in a band or something...the Gaviners or something."
"The Gavinners?" Franziska blinked. The fact she responded with that knowledge made the others turn to her as well.
"Yeah, something like that! I didn't remember the name." Gumshoe laughed a little, before frowning. "That guy is real serious for a rookie."
"I see..." Edgeworth crossed his arms. "I suspect he wouldn't allow anyone uninvolved with the case to investigate then."
"There's already a prosecutor in charge as well..." Gumshoe rubbed the back of his head. Now this was the one that had everyone's attention.
"But it just happened last night, right?" Maya asked. "Who else but Edgeworth would take a case so quickly?"
"It's that new guy...Klavier Gavin." Gumshoe groaned.
"Klavier..." Maya mumbled the name.
"Klavier Gavin!?" Franziska gasped. "He may make acceptable music, but a case like this is far above the caliber of a greenhorn such as him!"
"Klavier Gavin? Isn't that the lead guitarist for the Gavinners!?" Kay was very aware of this as well. "I didn't know he was a prosecutor as well."
"He is...a relatively new addition to the Prosecutor's Office." Edgeworth said.
"If he's going to be prosecuting, that means we just need a defense attorney!" Kay looked at Edgeworth with a hopeful expression. "Let's contact Mr. Fender! I'm sure he'd be happy to help!"
"Unfortunately, he is tied up in other matters at the moment. The trial is likely tomorrow, and he would not be able to make it in time." Edgeworth knew this, because he already called Eddie Fender. He was the only other option for a defense attorney they trusted, that he could think of.
"Darn..." Kay snapped her fingers. But then...! "Oh, wait! Don't you have a friend who's a defense attorney! 'That man', you always secretly refer to!"
"That man? Are you serious, you wouldn't even say Nick's name to your friends!?" Maya wore a deadpanned expression. Edgeworth glanced off to the side, trying not to recoil from Maya grilling into him.
"It was never relevant at any point in time!" Edgeworth defended himself. Little did Kay realize that at the mention of this Defense Attorney friend, the air in the Detention Center grew tense.
Kay did realize this after a few seconds of awkward silence. "Hey, c'mon. Did I say something weird?
"...Unfortunately, my friend is no longer a defense attorney." Edgeworth was the one who said it. Kay's eyes went wide.
"W-What!? What happened?!" Kay gasped.
"...It's been getting all over the news." Gumshoe, as one who was involved with that trial, had mixed feelings about it. "He was caught using forged evidence in the middle of a trial. It was actually Mr. Gavin that caught him in the act. It went all downhill from there."
"It was Klavier Gavin who exposed Wright in court, leading to the loss of his attorney's badge. I read it in the newspaper as of late." Edgeworth closed his eyes and shook his head. Despite what the news said, he simply could not believe its contents. But everything that happened was real and true.
Date: April 23rd
Location: Prosecutor's Office.
The speaker was put on full blast. Klavier Gavin was playing air guitar to the rhythm of the song; 13 Years Hard Time for Love. This was how he planned to start his day after hearing about the case. "Aw, yeah! Now that's a good rock session!"
There was a knock at his door. But due to the sound, it took him a few moments to actually hear it and answer. He lowered the volume, but the music didn't stop. It was simply in the background as he opened the door, only to see his elder brother. "Kristoph? Stopping by the Prosecutor's office yet again?"
"Oh, but of course, Klavier." Kristoph said while adjusting his glasses calmly. He stepped inside, his expression flickering briefly, to something sour. This music...not his cup of tea in the slightest. "I believe there is a chance that we may be working on the same case."
"Really?" Even though his shades hid his eyes, one could note how eager Klavier was about this. "You're thinking about taking the case of Franziska von Karma?"
"Well, I can't say that there are many lawyers who are currently chomping at the bit to take the case. I must say, I believe her whip has frightened them all into silence." Kristoph chuckled slightly. "I know things did not go the way you envisioned in that previous trial, but you still did an immaculate job calling Phoenix Wright out."
"Heh. I couldn't allow him to get away with using forged evidence." Klavier grinned slightly, snapping his fingers to the beat of the music in the background. "But I have to say, even if that trial did kind of blow...it did bolster my own popularity a great deal. Our concert had double the amount of fans!"
"Well, congratulations. It seems your little hobby is actually paying off." Kristoph's head tilted back ever so slightly as he said this, which gave of a very faint moment of an imposing stare.
"Still, though...what is with the law these days?" Klavier walked over to one of his guitars, strumming it idly. "Prosecutors committing murder, defense attorney's forging evidence, the list feels like it goes on. The older people in this profession just seem to have too much dirt on them, ja?"
"Indeed, what a sorry state the law is currently in." Kristoph shook his head.
"..." Klavier was silent for a moment. "Hey, Kristoph? Can I be honest about something?"
"Hm? Whatever is on your mind?" Kristoph asked. He expected it to be something ridiculous.
"With how that trial ended, I felt like...something was missing." Klavier turned to look out the window of his office. "I didn't actually proveZak Gramarye guilty. Everything that happened simply pointed to that conclusion. Phoenix Wright's forged evidences, the fact the defendant quite literally vanished after that...it's almost like the truth was lost before it could be proven." Sure, he won, but the more he thought about it, the more hollow the victory felt.
Kristoph, upon hearing his brother's musings, sighed and shook his head. As he thought; ridiculous. "Allow me to give you some advice now that you've begun your tenure in the legal world, Klavier. The law is absolute. There is only one thing that matters in the courtroom, and that is the verdict. The truth, the feelings that spur along in the courtroom...it is all meaningless. You're better off forgetting about those things. Don't you think so, Klavier?"
"..." Klavier remained silent. He could see his brother's reflection in the window. Even with his glasses covering his face, Klavier could feel those eyes on him. Not quite glaring at him, but still looking down on him. Pushing down on him. He had more he wanted to say, but he relented with a sigh. "I- I suppose you're right..."
"See? You're smart. Just keep that in mind, and you'll do fine." Kristoph then smiled faintly.
This felt like a repeat of their interactions in the past. For that reason, Klavier knew it was best to just try and move on. He felt a little stupid for bringing it up in the first place, but there was no one that would ever know that. "That reminds me, I heard something interesting." Klavier looked to his brother. "Despite you being the one to tell me about Phoenix's Wright's forged evidence, when it came time for the Board to vote...you were the only one voted against the decision? What's up with that, Bro?"
Kristoph's faint smile never faded, but the meaning behind it was twisted in a way only he would ever know. "I know I said the man was not to be trusted, yet...perhaps something within me, in that moment, felt pity for him. It's not as if my decision changed anything in the long run. I wonder if he was simply drunk with the prospect of victory of such a trial. Had he emerged victorious and proved the defendant innocent, he would've been pushed to unimaginable fame. Tempting for any attorney, I imagine."
"Pity, huh?" Klavier couldn't help but suck his teeth at that word for a moment, but he masked it as a joking laugh. "Where was that pity when we were growing up?"
"You turned out just fine." Kristoph handwaved that comment away. It didn't matter if Klavier was serious about it or not.
"That being said, though...I'm surprised you're willing to to von Karma's aid after that trial the other day. I know you don't like to lose. But if you are accepted as her attorney, I assure you that your loss is practically guaranteed, brother!" Klavier was in a sporting mood. A fair courtroom battle against his brother, and one he felt confident in as well.
"As if you could defeat me under any normal circumstance." Kristoph inwardly thought. But outwardly, his mouth said. "I do not know if she will accept me. But it would be to her benefit if she did. There is nobody else who can, or will, accept her case. Otherwise, you are looking at yet another victory."
"Hm..." Klavier furrowed his brows. "Would I want such a victory handed to me? Nein! I would enjoy a normal trial for a change." Something to rub out the sour taste of Zak Gramarye's trial from his mouth. "And it has to start somewhere. Now, if you'll excuse me. I can't talk about case details to a potential enemy."
"But of course." Kristoph nodded. "One way or another, I'm sure I'll see you in court, Klavier. I wish you luck in your trial, regardless if we face off or not." With that, Kristoph made his departure. There was a glint off of his glasses as he walked off. "If nothing else, you certainly do make a good instrument for revenge."

Maya brought Edgeworth and Kay to the office. They were unable to get much out of Franziska, as she was not going to talk much, since they weren't her lawyers. Gumshoe returned to the crime scene; even if he wasn't in charge, he did plan to help however he could. As they walked, Kay let out a sigh. "Ms. von Karma was being really tight lipped, wasn't she?"
"I'm not surprised." Edgeworth spoke. "She has no reason to, and as it stands right now...we cannot help her. There is already a prosecutor in charge, meaning my role in this case is already diminished. That said, why are you bringing us here, Maya?"
"I told you, I have an idea." Maya said with a serious tone. "But first, we need to stop by the office. I need to see Nick. I know him! If he doesn't have a case, he's sitting on the couch doing nothing. This has to be doubly true since he has..."
"Oh, I get to meet your friend now! I'm excited!" Kay was punching the air in front of her.
Maya used her key to open the door to the office. "Hello, coming in! Nick! Er, Trucy?"
"Trucy?" Edgeworth had no idea there was someone else here.
When the trio stepped inside the office, there was Trucy Wright, standing there with a wide grin. "Hello, good morning. Ms. Maya! Oh, who are they?"
"Awww, she's so cute...!" Kay couldn't help the warm smile that spread on her lips.
"Hello. I'm Miles Edgeworth." Edgeworth greeted Trucy with a small bow.
"And I'm Kay Faraday!" Kay introduced herself, grinning the whole time.
"Hii! I'm Trucy Wright!" Trucy exclaimed. Edgeworth nearly doubled over.
"E-Excuse me!?" Edgeworth gasped, looking over to Maya. "D-Did you know about this!?"
"Yup!" Maya nodded. "I would've told you sooner, but I wanted you to have the same reaction I did. Hehe!"
"Ngh..." Edgeworth couldn't believe this! Just what happened in this past week!?
"Your friend's a dad?" Kay looked at Edgeworth, who was still mentally reeling from this.
"Where is he, leaving a child all alone like this!?" Edgeworth exclaimed.
"Oh, Daddy's in the other room." Trucy skipped over to the door, knocking on it. "Daddy! You have friends over!"
"Haha, thanks, Trucy." Phoenix's voice could be heard from behind the door. Slowly it opened, and Phoenix stepped out. But he wasn't in his blue suit; he was in a jacket and sweats; the most casual look anyone had ever seen on him. "Edgeworth? Maya? And..."
"You must be 'that guy', Mr. Edgeworth is always talking about! I'm Kay Faraday, it's nice to finally meet the mysterious man!" Kay snickered. Edgeworth silently groaned in response.
"That guy?" Phoenix lifted a brow, a dry laugh escaping him. "C'mon, Edgeworth. I'm not good enough to get a name for your surprisingly energetic friend?"
"No time for antics, Wright." Edgeworth stated. Despite the smile on Phoenix's face, anyone could see that he was exhausted emotionally. It was in his eyes. "What happened...?"
"Yeah, Nick...! You only pull the sweats out when you're really..." Maya trailed off, realizing she probably shouldn't point out Phoenix's sadness in front of Trucy.
Phoenix slid his hands into his pockets, glancing away for a moment. "..." Clearly, he didn't want to talk about that first thing in the morning. "I should be asking you the same thing. What's with the entourage? It's the first time you've visited the office, Edgeworth. And Maya, shouldn't you be getting ready for your trip?"
"Yeah, but...something bad happened!" Maya balled her hands into fists. "Franziska's been arrested for murder!"
This surprised Phoenix. His eyes widened a bit. Instinctively, his hand went to where his badge would be, if he were wearing his suit. "...I'd love to help. I'm sorry."
"She won't say it, but you were probably the first person she thought of." Edgeworth said.
"...But that doesn't explain why you're all here. Kinda stings." Phoenix admitted.
Maya then stepped forward, looking up at Phoenix. They had a lot to talk about, but now wasn't the time. Wordlessly, she walked past him, and made way over to the desk. She knelt down, pulling out the third compartment, and dug around. After a moment, she pulled something out. "I know this must be hard for you, Nick...I know you'd jump on the chance the moment you could. So this is why I wanted to ask you about this..." She presented an attorney's badge to the group.
"A spare badge? You can just...do that?" Kay blinked.
"Ah...I see now." Phoenix nodded.
"This badge belonged to my sister." Maya explained. "After she died, I...decided to keep it, as a memento. My sister was a very big help to us. So, Nick...I wanted to ask if it would be alright, if Edgeworth used this badge to help defend Franziska in court."
"WH-!?" Kay and Edgeworth both gasped at Maya's idea.
"B-But Mr. Edgeworth is a prosecutor! Like, firmly a prosecutor! He can't just swap sides like that!" Kay exclaimed.
"Actually, he did fill in for me a few months ago." Phoenix said with a slight chuckle. "So as long as he doesn't get caught, it'll be fine."
"Don't speak as if I've agreed to anything yet!" Edgeworth objected.
"But if nobody takes Franziska's case, she'll be in trouble!" Maya said, looking at Edgeworth. "We have to try and help her! It doesn't hurt to try, does it? Our options are limited! I don't feel confident in my ability in the courtroom to try and defend her alone..." She was a much better assistant than she was an actual lawyer.
"Well...if anyone could find the truth, it would be Mr. Edgeworth." Kay crossed her arms. She'd seen it multiple times herself. "But is this alright with you, Mr. Wright?"
"It's not my badge." Phoenix replied, eyes closed. Trucy tilted her head, before deciding to water Charile, at the mention of her father's mentor. "But I know why you asked in the first place. I wonder what Mia would say if she saw me like this now."
"She'd tell you not to give up!" Maya exclaimed. "The worst of times are when you have to force your biggest smiles. Despite what happened, you shouldn't forget that!"
"...Hah, yeah." Phoenix nodded.
"So, Mr. Edgeworth...will you?" Maya handed the attorney's badge to Edgeworth.
Edgeworth realized this was probably their only option. If they wanted to find the truth behind the crime Franziska was accused of, he would have to stand behind the Defense's bench one last time. He didn't take it from Maya yet, so she held onto it for now. "...Only if she accepts."
"...If you guys are going to the Detention Center, I'll go too." Phoenix spoke.
"You will?" Kay blinked.
"...There's someone I have to visit." Phoenix said, cryptically. "You be good, Trucy. I'll be back soon, okay?"
"Okay!" Trucy nodded. While there were some internal questions about Phoenix leaving the young girl alone at home, it was probably better she didn't come along to the Detention Center of all places.
Date: April 23rd
Location: Detention Center
Franziska had another visitor. Sitting across the glass window from her was Kristoph Gavin. She didn't turn him away immediately, but she was curious as to his reasons for being there. "I'm almost certain you've come to mock me."
"Oh, no. Not at all." Kristoph shook his head. "I've come to help you, Ms. von Karma."
"Help?" Franziska gave Kristoph a doubtful stare.
"Indeed. Have you been approached by a defense attorney yet?" Kristoph asked calmly. Franziska shook her head. "As I thought. It seems there are not many people willing to take this case of yours. Meaning your options for a defense are rather low, aren't they? So, allow me to stand in defense of you."
"What?" Franziska could hardly believe what she was hearing. This man, whom she practically embarrassed in court with a defeat just the other day, wanted to stand at her defense? "Is this some sort of elaborate joke, Kristoph Gavin?"
"A joke? No, I assure you, I'm quite serious. I want to give you the verdict you deserve. Surely you didn't kill anyone." Kristoph pushed his glasses up as he spoke.
Franziska paused for a moment, before shaking her head. Kristoph remained calm and collected at all times; she witnessed this herself in court. Phoenix Wright would've sweat any number of times during that trial, but not him. The Coolest Defense Attorney in the West wasn't just a title they gave him for no reason, and yet...Franziska couldn't trust that. Something about this man...rubbed her the wrong way. "I have no reason to trust you, Mr. Kristoph Gavin. Who is to say you aren't secretly plotting to get me a guilty verdict with a shoddy defense?"
To that, Kristoph laughed. "Come now, Ms. von Karma. Do you truly believe me to be so petty a man? I always give it my all in trials. It would be a disservice to myself and my client if I did anything less."
"Your best was hardly enough to defeat me in court as well." Franziska shook her head. "How could I trust my fate with someone who cannot even match up to me? You are no Phoenix Wright."
For the briefest of moments, the corner of Kristoph's lip twitched in a barely perceptible way. His smile remained, however. "And you're saying you would choose Phoenix Wright as a defense attorney over me?"
"If I had the option, but that fool lost his badge!" Franziska wanted to whip something so badly right now. But her whip was confiscated as evidence, so she could only slam the table in front of her in frustration.
"I am here to remind you of your position, Ms. von Karma. If you do not accept my defense, I cannot guarantee you will have a lawyer at all." Kristoph's tone grew serious. "You will be found guilty as soon as the trial begins. If you accept me as your defense, you won't have to worry about that."
"...' Franziska looked away. Of course she was aware of her situation. But she could not trust this man that easily; he'd done nothing to earn it. At least with Phoenix Wright, she could ultimately say he was capable. Even if it came at the cost of her defeat and frustration, but she was a better person and prosecutor because of it. Being found guilty without even a chance for defense...it was foolish. "I..."
"HOLD IT!"
The sudden shout caught Kristoph and Franziska by surprise. Franziska couldn't see very well, but Kristoph could.
It was Maya, pointing at Kristoph dramatically. "Sorry, sir! But Franziska already has her lawyers!" Behind Maya stood Edgeworth and Kay. Or rather, Maya rushed ahead to intercept Kristoph's offer.
"Maya Fey?" Franziska did her best to peer around the glass. Maya's loud voice was unmistakable.
"W-Wow, that girl is fast...!" Kay was panting softly. She thought she had energy, but Maya was something else!
"..." Edgeworth took deep breaths himself. "I had nearly forgotten how excitable she can be."
"Would you care to repeat yourselves?" Kristoph's head tilted back ever so slightly as he stared at Maya.
At that moment, Maya felt a cold shill run down her spine. But she was able to push it back. She kept her point, while also giving Franziska a smile. "I-I said...you don't have to worry about anything, sir! Because Ms. Franziska von Karma already has her lawyers!"
Kristoph's glasses shaded his eyes. Now this...was an interesting development. "Oh really...?"
The Prosecution and the Defense for the trial of Franziska von Karma...
Has officially been decided.
