A girl is heading to the school library. She wishes to know more about the subject of the latest lesson Professor Flitwick has shown. It's not overly complicated but additional knowledge is never unwelcome.
This girl is always very concerned about her studies. The new spells propelled her to search for books regarding the topic. It is important to stay focused otherwise you are not going to make it best.
Her two newly made friends are often confused as to why her focus is on books so much that since attending Hogwarts she makes frequent visits to this place.
The girl's name is Hermione and she enters the magical library filled with seemingly countless books. She greets Madam Pince who blinks at her as usual and searches for the section containing guidance about charms.
This place is still school and magic or not, knowing lesson material is necessary if you want to get an OWL.
There is a nearly inaudible sound like a drop of water meeting the pound. As if a layer of condensed air in between breaking apart.
Hermione strolls by the next shelf confused, turning back and round. She has thought to memorize most of the sections here but it seems to be untrue.
The library in Hogwarts is a very large space where extensive amounts of knowledge are found.
The moment she passes by the same shelves again, Hermione notices something is wrong.
"I passed by this row twice…" She mutters under her breath and takes out one book from the collection. It is standard and nothing is hinting what is going on so the occurrence must lay in something different.
"This doesn't make sense, illusion? Am I in some kind of loop? Why would there be one in Hogwarts? Special section?"
"Not really," a voice makes her jump, it is overly filled with joy and glee.
"Eep!"
She looks at the source and is left tongue-tied.
The boy is her age, his hair is messy but looks more elegant-wild than anything. It is not too short and not too long and is the unnatural color of lilac-white. Something Hermione has never seen before, was the boy a pureblood? People like that arrogant Draco guy or Daphe whom she was tense about approaching. It's not like the bookworm has many friends, to begin with.
Amethyst eyes meet her brown orbs, they are glowing slightly, but that's impossible.
The boy seems out of place even with Hogwarts' robes.
She feels awkward standing there and staring like a deer. It's Impolite.
"So that's how it is. What books are you looking for?" The boy smiles encouragingly, somehow sensing her inner tremor. It feels almost unnaturally easygoing how the brown-haired girl calms down around him.
"Um," But Hermione still refuses to meet his curious gaze and instead moves to look at the books lying around, "W-well," She trips much to her dread, and freezes while being ready for the approaching impact.
A gust of something catches her falling body and moves her to the previous position. A sensation akin to warm invisible material Hermione realizes could only be magic.
"Y-you… what did you do?" She stares widely at the boy, her clever mind running through multiple scenarios before coming to an awestruck conclusion, "Just now, wandless magic!?"
The person in question looks very suspicious to Hermione as he is certainly her age yet there is no House Emblem present on his robe.
"Isn't that obvious? But yes, that's correct!" He says brightly, "So back to my question, what are you looking for?"
"That's not important right now!" For some reason this carefree attitude is making Hermione annoyed, "Introduce yourself!"
"Wahaha, you are funny girl." An irritating laugh comes out. Seeing the fire rising, the boy can only power it further, "That's for me to know and you to find out~"
"You are unbearable!"
"Am I," The boy tilts his head, "or are you simply nosing around? Why should I tell you my name if I'm unaware of yours?"
"Hermione." She sputters hotly.
"And I am Merlin~" He replies briefly while grinning.
"Don't make fun of me."
"Eh? But I'm the real deal. Well, alright you got me here. But still, I won't say it."
"But the deal!?"
Amethyst eyes turn to her, glistening with amusement, "What deal?" Hermione grows red in the face.
That's right. There was never any kind of reassurance the boy would tell his name if she said hers. Realization. She was fooled! How embarrassing!
"A-anyway, where is your wand?"
'Merlin' pulls out from his hand-pocket a wand however much to her horror what comes out is a pink stick.
"What is this thing!?" She holds her head, silently wondering how Madam Pince hasn't chastised them yet for noise.
"It's my wand of course! What else would it be?" He tilts his head and twirls the ugly thing. The tiny smile on his face shows he is aware of how ridiculous it looks, "It is made from Unicorn hair and… I don't remember!"
"How can you not know!?"
"It's not like I use it either way," The tone of his voice is nonchalant along with his shrug.
Something turns in Hermione's stomach, whether is because of this situation or not, it makes her want to strangle this person.
"Are you from my year?"
"I wonder, I know you from lessons so it's possible. Always a hand high in the air when Professors ask questions."
"Excuse me?"
"Sure,"
"No- what?" She stammers, "But I have never seen you in classes," Hermione asks still flustered by the previous comment.
"You won't see what doesn't want to be seen." He explains cryptically.
Hermione grimaces and attempts to memorize the boy's unique features, "That's b… silly and you know it. Unless you are lying."
"Hehehe, there is a certain amount of students in class. Maybe you are simply overlooking me."
"No, it's not possible. You would be noticed."
"Why?" He smiled.
"That's," Hermione blinked with big eyes and stopped what she was about to say. Thoughts like: No, I can't call this guy like that! There is no way I can say that! He is awful! Run through her head, "Because that's what I said!"
"Haha, it's fine, you don't have to answer that. I think I know whatever is on your mind." He winks.
"That's not it." She denies it heatedly, the brown-haired girl hugs the book to her chest and holds his gaze strongly.
"What's this barrier surrounding us? A loop ward of some kind? Why is the noise not present? Where do you learn this?" The boy is being bombarded with questions, it is overwhelming.
"Hahaha! Did you notice it? That's amazing!"
Hermione is taken aback and reddened at the praise.
"Don't look flustered, there is nothing to be embarrassed for. You should be proud for seeing through my Bounded Field, that's surprising!"
"N-no, I-"
"Congratulations are in order, I suppose! Well, I can't promise to teach you perfectly how to do that but I promise to try my best!"
"No, you are weird. I don't need your help."
"That's hurtful but it's fine, I'll manage. Your searching could use some aid though, is that correct?"
In his hand, a book magically appears followed by small fireworks before flying into Hermione's clumsy grip.
"What is this?"
"Hm? Open it. The reward for finding this place and managing to spot the field without my outer interference. You were searching for books about Charms, right? Well, here it is. Just don't read after noon so you look like a ghoul the next day."
"Ghoul!? Why would I be a ghoul after reading that!?" This is a worrying and terrifying prospect!
"Haha, forget what I said. It's fine, it's fine, read it whenever you wish." The white-haired boy says, "Don't worry, you will not become an undead cause of one unslept night."
Determination is the key to success, and both of them agree easily on that notion. It cannot be false if it works. Hard work and persistence are crucial in creating a world where it becomes a reality.
"I'm going to read it all!"
The so-called 'Merlin' grins upon seeing her resolve. He is literally glowing if one looks closely enough but Hermione is too entranced with the mysterious book in her hand.
"That's the spirit! Anything is possible so I know you can make it! Well, now that we are even it's time for you to continue your journey!"
"But I'm going to find you as well, don't think I will forget about this meeting." Hermione hurries away, "No hidden knowledge is going to be kept from me."
She hears a chuckle as she leaves.
"I put my hopes in you!"

'Merlin' watches the back of the brown-haired girl as she walks away with steps of purpose. How nice to have future generations of magus- ehem, wizards having bright futures ahead of them.
"The girl is one of the main characters so it's risky for me to come closer but I stayed too excited."
He sees the possibility of a new incredible story to play out. His Clairvoyance observes this world like a board of chess.
The reason for showing up is the chance for much more fun to have in store. This is the chance to have it upgraded and he is not going to waste it.
He blinks his amethyst eyes and disappears in a shower of rose petals, passing all of the magical castle wards undetected. The boy still remains a student nonetheless and faster travel is appreciated.
'Merlin' arrives at the entrance of his House, taking the complete form and approaching his room. His appearance changes as 'Merlin' takes each step, the white hair changes into blond, his face becomes a little more tanned and his eyes change their color into chocolate-brown.
The difference is so large it's lost cause to compare both appearances.
The door opens just as the transformation takes place, exactly on time.
"Ah, here you are." The platinum mop of hair that is supposed to look elegant exclaims with a sigh, "I was looking for you forever now. Where were you?"
'Merlin' smiles casually, "I met with a prefect to talk out some stuff. It seemed important so I lost my sight on time."
"It's fine, as long as it doesn't happen again. I need your assistance anyway so I would ask you to come with me."
"Oh, did these Gryffindors rub you the wrong way again Draco? You seem pretty mad."
Draco makes an angry face at the mere mention, seconds from baring his teeth, "It's that Weasley guy and Potter again! They made me look like a fool to others and the teacher as well! I absolutely can't let it go!"
"What is your plan this time?" 'Merlin' carefully asks his fellow classmate. Amethyst color flickering through his brown orbs.
"For now? I need you to assist me, your insight and wit are unfailing. Follow me Marylynn."
Marylynn grins mischievously under his calm demeanor and goes after the arrogant boy.
"As you wish my friend."

A/N: Hello! In this little omake, I wish to show you my idea that someday may turn into a real fic with the story.
However, I also wanted to show you a different Merlin with a different reincarnation origin. One without his learning of his humanity and what are the consequences. As you can see, he doesn't seem to care for anyone's personal feelings. His incubus side is dominant here. Merlin sees no true bonds between him and these people unlike Artoria or Knights of Round that's why he treats all this like a chess game where he is just an invisible third force.
Thank you for reading, see you next time. I will try my best to write something but I won't promise anything.
