Chapter 264 The Process Of Creating The Marauder's Map

Before Harry found it, Evan was in Sirius's office discussing the matter of the centaurs and the object they possessed.

After speaking with Firenze that night, he became convinced that it was the key to Gryffindor's Treasure. The only thing he did not expect was that it was divided.

Regardless, Evan needed to acquire that thing.

In his scheme, this was crucial to enhance his magical prowess.

The lack of magic had become Evan's greatest limitation of strength.

If his magic could not be enhanced, even if he gathered more knowledge, knowing the most powerful spells was merely empty talk with no practical value.

Evan could not wait for his magic to grow with age, unlike any other wizard. He was running out of time.

Voldemort could return at any moment. He needed to be prepared.

He had saved Sirius, and the future had changed. He could no longer rely on Voldemort being defeated and killed by using the wrong wand. He had to adopt a more pragmatic approach.

Dumbledore had his plan, and Evan had his own ideas. In this case, the magical object of Gryffindor that would boost his magic was particularly crucial, not to mention it was one of the keys to a secret treasure.

Sirius had pledged to help Evan gain the approval of the centaur colony.

They were discussing this matter, and Sirius told Evan how they had been recognized in the centaur colony.

"You know, during our school days, I worked with James, Remus, and Peter to create the Marauder's Map," Sirius proudly said, "That map not only shows the names of everyone at Hogwarts but also has the simple thoughts of the four of us. Only those who meet our requirements can use it. When someone like Snape touches it, it only humiliates them."

"It's truly astounding. I have studied that map. It involves a very complex and esoteric knowledge of magic," Evan said in amazement, "Especially when the names are revealed on the map, this magic has gone far beyond the general sense of magic."

"Regarding that magic, I found a book in the Restricted Section, the one upstairs..."

"I know, 'The Magic of Names'," Evan took a magic book from his backpack, laughed, and said, "I borrowed it a few days ago. I saw the research notes in it. These notes gave me a lot of inspiration."

While studying the dark magic of summoning a devil in "Secrets of the Darkest Art," Evan came across the magic book about names.

According to the book, the key to summoning a devil is to know its real name. Only by knowing the real name can the conjurer enslave the summoned devil. Otherwise, the one making the invocation would be killed by it, or controlled by the Devil to become its slave.

Evan was very skeptical about this magic. He did not believe in the existence of devils.

He had never seen records of this ancient dark magic anywhere else except for what was documented in "Secrets of the Darkest Art".

He didn't know what he would summon with this dark magic!

Nevertheless, based on this, it was a good opportunity to study the magic of names.

As for the magic of summoning the devil, Evan estimated that he would never use it in his life.

Just like creating a Horcrux and the previous dark magic that harmed the soul, summoning the devil required a sacrifice. In the summoning method described in "Secrets of the Darkest Art," the conjuror was asked to kill a person with a special spell while summoning.

That man's soul is a sacrifice. Different souls can summon devils of different degrees, in short, the more heinous the methods of the conjuror, the more painful the sacrifice will be when he dies, and the more powerful the summonings will be.

This wicked magic sounds chilling.

Sirius took Evan's magic book and smiled bitterly. "I knew there was nothing to hide from you!"

Faced with Evan's omniscience, he went from surprise to disbelief.

Looking at the slim young man in front of him, Sirius shook his head helplessly.

When he was on the run, he managed to escape once from the pursuit of the Ministry of Magic.

But just seconds after encountering Evan on that Muggle street, he recognized him, which was simply unbelievable.

Perhaps that was what set Evan apart.

Sirius recalled his previous conversation with Dumbledore and observed Evan carefully from head to toe. If nothing happened, he believed Evan would eventually grow to become a great wizard like Dumbledore.

"I have carefully studied this book and your notes, and it is clear that the names are magical, but it is very difficult to mark the names of everyone at Hogwarts on a piece of parchment," frowned Evan. "Not to mention that the four have merged their simple thoughts into the Marauder's Map. To do that, magical theory is secondary, and what is most crucial is very, very powerful magic."

"Your analysis is absolutely correct. If this were a class, I would award Gryffindor fifty points," Sirius set the magic book aside, smiled, and said, "You guessed it. None of the four could do it with their own magic."

"I heard Professor Lupin mention that they received help from the item collected by the Colony of Centaurs, which possessed powerful magic," said Evan. "What is it?"

"Unfortunately, I don't know!" Sirius shook his head. "We couldn't see the form of that thing. I remember it was a night when, under the starlight, it reflected a soft light and had very strong magical power."

"Light?!" Evan was surprised.

"Yes, the magic in those rays was incredible," Sirius recalled. "The four, following the centaurs, climbed one by one and tried to retrieve the object, but none succeeded. Finally, before we left, James suggested completing the Marauder's Map there. We had been studying it for a long time and couldn't find a source of magic powerful enough. The parchment used to make the map was James' spell task, luckily he had it with him at that time."

Listening to Sirius's description, Evan could imagine the whole process of creating the Marauder's Map.

Since not even Sirius knew what was the key left by Gryffindor, Evan could only see it with his own eyes.

The crucial question was, how could he gain the approval of the Centaurs?
