Chapter 619 Christmas

Regarding Neville, Evan was going to introduce him to Luna.

Luna also did not have a partner. Her personality was highly eccentric. She was always in pursuit of the Snorkack with the Shrieking Horns, the Gurgling Gizmo, and other peculiar things. She knew a few boys at school, but none of them would dare to invite her to the ball.

Their characters, the sincere Neville and the whimsical Luna, were complementary and remarkable, yet they struggled to engage in conversations. Neville could escort her to the Christmas Ball.

In Evan's view, the partner choices of Harry, Neville, and Colin were rather straightforward.

The most intricate situation was for Ron; currently, he didn't have many options left.

Ron was one of the champions; he needed a partner to open the dance.

According to his standards, the champion had to find a beautiful girl to keep up appearances.

After Hermione inquired among the girls, they focused on Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown.

Not much needs to be said about Parvati; she was a beautiful Indian girl with black hair. According to Dean Thomas, she was one of the most attractive girls in the fourth year.

Lavender seemed slightly less beautiful. She was a bit neurotic but very cheerful and outgoing, with a keen interest in Divination.

Most crucially, she probably appealed greatly to Ron, and initiative was more significant than anything else.

Thus, Ron's partner was decided as Lavender.

Evan, having identified the candidates, brought them together, regardless of appropriateness.

He and Hermione were making the most of the resources available in the current situation.

It was merely about choosing a dance partner. It wasn't really about finding a boyfriend or girlfriend.

For Harry, Ron, Neville, and Colin, perhaps there wouldn't be a suitable candidate until the start of the ball.

Indeed, Harry and Ron didn't seem very pleased with Evan and Hermione's arrangements. Still, in the end, they had to agree; they had no other choice at all.

Later, Harry confessed to Evan that he thought this ball was more trouble than it was worth.

Ron, as a champion, if he hadn't initially aimed for Fleur, wouldn't be in this situation.

The same applied to Harry, who had always been popular at school and had more success with girls than he thought. If his eyes hadn't always been on Cho, he could have found a partner very easily.

As for Neville and Colin, they had the same objective. They needed a partner, no matter who it was.

Neville didn't want to be alone. Colin just wanted to go to the ball. Neither of them had any specific girl in mind.

If Evan could persuade Eloise Midgen, they would be willing to accept her.

Among the girls, Luna probably shared the same thoughts as the two boys.

Ginny and Lavender had different aims; they secretly had a crush on Harry and Ron, respectively.

This pairing was likely the best option for them.

As for Gabrielle, she was solely helping Colin attend the ball. Evan knew Gabrielle held a favorable opinion of him and liked him.

Observing Fleur's expression, he thought that after he and Hermione declared their feelings, Gabrielle might be very sad, much like all the girls who lost a love.

However, that was not the case at all. After learning the news, Gabrielle came to congratulate him directly, complaining that Evan hadn't expressed his love for Hermione before she did. Gabrielle's affection for Evan was not of the kind he had imagined...

In truth, Evan acknowledged he had overthought things. For a nine-year-old girl, that reaction might be the most normal. If she had reacted like Fleur or Cho, that would be abnormal.

In summary, Evan convinced Gabrielle to help Colin in exchange for dancing with her at his second ball. The first dance, of course, would be with Hermione.

In this way, the challenging task of choosing partners for everyone finally came to an end.

Despite the heavy workload the teachers had assigned for the Christmas break, no one felt like working at the end of the term.

Even Hermione, who rarely parted from her textbooks, engaged with everyone.

Evan also ceased studying ancient magical texts, the language of Sirens and demons, and completely relaxed.

The Gryffindor Tower was scarcely less crowded now than during term, and only a few first-year students opted to go home.

Indeed, the tower seemed to have shrunk, as its inhabitants were much more raucous than usual.

Fred and George had a great success with their Canary Creams, and during the early days of the break, people kept turning into feathers all over the place. However, soon all Gryffindors learned to handle with extreme caution any food offered to them by others, just in case it contained a Canary Cream inside.

Fred and George confided in Evan that they were now working on new transformation products.

They were planning to expand this range to offer the consumer a variety of animal forms.

From the second day of the break, the snow fell thickly over the castle and its grounds.

The pale blue carriage of Beauxbatons looked like a large, cold frosted pumpkin next to the frozen gingerbread house that was Hagrid's cabin, while the bull's-eye windows of the Durmstrang ship were ice-framed, with white frost rigging.

The house-elves outdid themselves with a series of rich hot stews and savory puddings, and only Fleur Delacour seemed to find something to complain about.

After Evan and Hermione made their confession, Fleur's attitude towards Evan turned very poor.

Although he wasn't certain, Evan suspected that the girl harbored a secret infatuation for him...

According to Gabrielle, Fleur's most recent choice for a partner was Roger Davies, the Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain.

He was a prominent figure in Ravenclaw House, a skilled athlete, with outstanding magical prowess.

The tactical design of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team had always been superb, and much of the credit was due to him.

Roger was slightly trailing behind Cedric Diggory, but his overall level remained higher than that of other students in the same year.

Of course, Fleur felt nothing for him. She and Ron had the same criteria for choosing a partner, that is, to find someone with the most beautiful face among those willing to accept them. She did not care about what the other person actually thought.

On Christmas morning, Evan woke up early.

He simply opened his eyes and saw something with very large and round green eyes staring at him in the darkness, so close that they were almost nose to nose.
