As their train neared Station Street, Rean checked his newly obtained Xipha to make sure they were getting off at the right stop.
"Edith certainly feels just as crowded as Heimdallr, if not more. Although I suppose they are both capital cities, so it shouldn't come as a surprise." Altina noted as the two exited the metro station.
Even though Fie and Towa had already given them and Crow a tour of the capital when they first arrived a few days ago, they still weren't fully confident traversing through the city as they'd like to be. Thankfully the metro lines made getting to Station Street from the Seiden District simpler than expected.
"I believe that's the café she told us about." Altina said as she pointed to a modern looking building.
"Yeah, that's the one. Come on, let's not keep her waiting." Rean replied as he led his daughter to the café.
Inside Orbal Café Iota, Towa found herself sitting by herself at a table next to the stairs looking over her messages on her Xipha while waiting for Rean and Altina to arrive.
She and Rean made sure to keep each other updated on their findings, be it her in Calvard or him elsewhere in Zemuria. Of course, they couldn't help but message each other every so often just to talk about how things were going in their daily lives. It was amazing looking at how quick technology had advanced in the past few years to allow them to communicate over such distances.
"Sorry to keep you waiting!" a familiar voice called out.
Towa instantly lifted her head with glee to see Rean and Altina make their way over to the table she had gotten for the three of them.
She quickly got up to greet them, but before she could say anything Altina rushed over to give her a hug. Catching Towa by surprise with the gesture.
"Teehee, I've missed you too." Towa told her as she returned the hug.
Finding the touching sight too adorable, Rean didn't want to interrupt the mother-daughter reunion. Of course, that didn't stop him from taking out his Xipha and snapping a quick photo of the two.
Alisa and George did say that these things were more customizable than the ARCUS II units, I should be able to set this photo up as my background. Rean thought to himself as he put away his orbment.
"Oh. Um… My apologies, I suppose I lost my cool there." Altina responded upon noticing that her hug was lasting a bit long.
"Ah come on, there's no need to be shy." Towa replied. Not letting her go.
"Haha. I think that's enough, Towa. She might die of embarrassment if you don't let her go." Rean suggested as he placed a hand on top of her head.
"H-Hey, watch those hands mister! Not even a hug first?" Towa responded as her face began to turn red as a result of her husband's headpats.
"And separate you two? Never." Rean said in his defense before placing his other hand on top of Altina's head so he could headpat them both.
Towa and Altina turned their heads to look at each other before nodding. Silently both knowing what to do.
Rean suddenly sensed Altina make a tactical retreat, letting go of Towa and escaping his grasp. Her arms now free, the brunette threw herself at him. Which made him instinctively open up his arms to catch her, wrapping their arms around the other as they embraced.
"H-Hey! You two can't just collude like that!" Rean responded as they hugged each other.
"It's not our fault you left yourself open for a counter attack." Towa teased as she rested her head on his chest.
Watching from the sidelines, Altina took out her Xipha and snapped a picture of her parents.
I'm sure the others would get a kick out of this. Altina thought to herself as she made a mental note to send the picture to her former classmates.
Realizing how long they've been embracing, Towa and Rean reluctantly separated. Saving their energy for when they were somewhere more private.
With greetings out of the way, Towa led Rean and Altina to the café counter where the owner, Ilhan, took their orders. Having familiarized herself with the café's offerings, she recommended them trying out the milk latte and maple scone.
"Looks to me like you've become a regular here." Rean noted as the three of them returned to their table with lattes and scones in hand.
"Yep. I'd be lying if I said those telescopes they have on display on the first floor weren't what got me through the door." Towa explained.
"This place being a combination of a café and orbal store certainly makes it stand out." Altina noted as she began eating her scones. "If you're here for some tech, you might as well come up for some coffee. If you're here for some coffee, might as well check out the tech downstairs."
"This place is pretty popular. A lot of the students from Aramis flock here. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've spotted Julian here with his friends once or twice." Towa informed Rean before taking a sip of her latte.
"Oh? And here I was worried that he'd have trouble getting accustomed to being an exchange student here." Rean jokingly lamented. "Speaking of which, how's being an instructor at Aramis been?"
"It's been very fulfilling. I was a bit nervous when my NGO told me about the temporary teaching position, but meeting all of my colleagues and students made this whole experience worth it." Towa answered.
"Sounds about right. I knew you'd be able to adjust well over here." Rean replied. "As for us-"
"Hmm? That's not what I recall your thoughts being." Altina interrupted while she drank her latte.
"Oh?" Towa responded, interested in what Altina had to share. Much to Rean's panic.
"H-Hey now, there's more we-" Rean said in an attempt to steer the conversation elsewhere, to no avail.
He watched as Altina pulled out her Xipha and started playing some audio recordings she'd taken from throughout the past few months for Towa.
From a few hours after she left for Calvard.
"You don't think she'll get jet lagged, do you?"
The weeks following her time away.
"I should send her another message. Wait, she's probably busy grading assignments or resting now."
To even that very day, a few hours ago.
"Remember, she said to meet her at a café called Iota. Hopefully she hasn't been drinking too much coffee."
Towa couldn't help but smirk as she turned to look at Rean, who sat there beside her embarrassed. Betrayed by his own daughter.
"I was under the impression that we were speaking in confidence." Rean commented as he stared at Altina.
"Given my previous work, you shouldn't expect me not to record conversations." Altina replied. There was a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
"Aw, no need to be so shy about it." Towa teased as she grabbed onto him.
"Sigh. Cut me some slack, you two. Of course I'd get a little worried after some of the stuff that happened here in Calvard in recent months." Rean said in his defense.
"I'm still here, aren't I? You have nothing to worry about." Towa assured him.
"You yourself are also in no position to complain. Need I bring up all the close calls you have had?" Altina pointed out.
"I'm still here, aren't I?" Rean responded. Accidentally echoing Towa's words.
Towa and Altina continued teasing Rean for his past transgressions. Making him promise them once more that he wouldn't get involved with anything too dangerous while in Calvard.
Once the three were done with their lattes and scones, Towa led them downstairs and showed them all of the tech the cafe had on display. While she showed Altina the latest orbal computers, Rean took note of the telescopes at the front of the store.
"These new telescopes sure do look quite advanced. Say Towa, have you thought about upgrading to one of these?" Rean asked her. "We can probably buy one of these and ask Elise to receive it for us over in Ymir."
"While I admit that all the latest bells and whistles these new telescopes have are interesting, I don't think I'll be replacing my grandpa's telescope any time soon." Towa answered as the two looked at the telescopes on display. "While it might show a few problems because of its age, I'm lucky to have a certain someone help me out with operating maintenance on it every so often."
"Yeah, you're right." Rean replied. Thinking back to when the two of them first repaired her grandfather's telescope together a few years ago. "I'm sure he'd be happy to see his granddaughter still making use of his telescope."
"Fascinating." Altina commented as she found something that caught her eye beneath the telescopes.
"Did you find something you like?" Towa questioned as she and Rean turned to see what it was Altina found.
"A 'robotic vacuum cleaner'? I wonder how similar it is to Claiomh Solais." Altina said as she crouched down to get a better look at the device.
"Judging by the name, I'm assuming all it does is clean the floor." Rean noted.
"So it's a robot maid? Do you think Sharon could train it to fight like her so that it could be usable in combat?" Altina suggested.
"I don't think these robot vacuums are advanced enough for that. One of the other instructors from Aramis has one, and they always complain about it getting stuck on their rugs." Towa informed her.
"Really? A shame. Here I thought Claiomh Solais could make a friend while in Calvard." Altina lamented.
"There, there." Towa assured Altina as she patted her back. "I know one of Professor Hamilton's assistants has a few orbal drones. Maybe they can become friends with Claim Solais."
"Hmm… I suppose that could work. I'll have to get in contact with them to schedule a 'playdate' between our orbal companions." Altina noted.
After that, the three made their way outside. There they bumped into a certain Bracer friend of theirs.
"Hey guys!" Fie greeted them. "How's your stay in Calvard been, you two?"
"It's been nice." Rean answered.
"No doubt thanks to our hosts sparing no expense during our stay." Altina added on. "Although it would've been nice of the CID not to have bugged our hotel suite."
"Ugh. Crow and I had to pull an all-nighter the night we arrived to deactivate all of the microphones and cameras they hid around the suite." Rean complained.
"That's Kincaid for you." Fie joked. "Could've avoided the hassle if you three stayed over at the Bracer Guild building nearby."
"We can't complain too much. The CID certainly wants us to enjoy ourselves while we're here." Rean assured her. "Plus we don't want to use up too much of the Bracers' space while here."
"So Towa, where are you taking them now?" Fie questioned her.
"I got us some tickets for a movie that's starting soon." Towa revealed.
"She didn't say which movie we're watching though." Rean added on.
"It's supposed to be a surprise." Towa eagerly reminded him.
"Well then, hope the theater experience is to your liking!" Fie told them.
The Bracer waved the three of them off as they made their way over to the metro station, before going inside the café to enjoy her break.
As they sat together in the theater, Towa turned to look at Rean and Altina as the movie's climax happened. She had made sure to pick out a movie that would engage with them both, and given the looks on their faces it seemed she had chosen correctly in going with The Peony Blade.
Rean in particular looked to be really enjoying the film. While the Eastern setting or the swordsmanship on display were definitely factors, she suspected the plot involving the protagonist mastering their father's sword style to use against their murderer spoke to him as a swordsman.
Once the film concluded, she led them back into the main lobby. Rean in particular looked pleased, quoting some of his favorite lines from the film's protagonist Xi Sen.
"The swordsmanship was exhilarating." Altina noted as she read through the film's brochure. "Even if things like 'Divine Dragon Helix' aren't real sword techniques."
"I knew you two would like it!" Towa cheered. "When I heard that they were playing it again in theaters right now for a limited time, I knew I had to bring you two here to see it."
"Thanks for bringing us, Towa." Rean replied. "Seeing as the movie was filmed in Longlai, I wonder if any of the local sword users were consultants on set for the action scenes."
"Teehee. Maybe in the sequel Xi Sen's sword style could be more influenced by the Eight Leaves school." Towa teased.
"Now that would be something." Rean noted as he envisioned himself watching his sword school portrayed on the silver screen.
"Hopefully a theater gets built somewhere in the empire by then. Not sure if coming to watch a movie is a good reason for another trip to the Republic." Altina pointed out.
"Coming to the Republic to see a movie in the capital and then going to Longlai to rest in their hot springs for a few days when things are peaceful sounds like a good enough reason to visit in the future to me." Rean replied as he head patted Altina. "What do you think, Towa?"
"It would be nice for the three of us to come back without danger looming over us." Towa said in agreement.
"It seems like you two have already started making plans." Altina responded.
"Sup guys!" a certain gray haired man called out as he entered the theater.
They quickly turned around and saw that it was Crow.
"Hey Crow, here to watch a movie?" Towa greeted.
"If you want a recommendation, The Peony Blade's a great action movie." Rean suggested.
"I'll keep that in mind for next time, I've already got a certain movie in mind for today." Crow told them as he pointed to a poster on display for an older movie featuring Judith Lanster that was back in theaters for a limited time. "Golden Blood. The next screening should be starting in a bit."
"Really? It looks like another screening just started, I'm sure you can still buy a ticket for it." Altina pointed out.
"Haha. That's because as an appreciator of the arts, I'm gonna watch the Director's Cut that starts later." Crow explained with a grin on his face. "I hear that Salvatore Gotti's got a real eye for spectacle, if you know what I mean~"
"Of course that's your reason." Towa bluntly replied. Not exactly surprised by her friend's motive given the director's reputation.
"Well I hope you enjoy it. Let me know if it's worth seeing." Rean responded. Having no clue what exactly made that version of Golden Blood so different from the standard version.
"I've read some reviews, you wouldn't like it. Don't ever listen to Crow's movie suggestions." Towa quickly informed Rean as she started dragging him outside.
"Farewell." Altina said to Crow before excusing herself and following Rean and Towa outside.
With dusk soon approaching, the three of them made their way over to the Riverside area before it got dark.
"Bermotti's won't open for a little while longer, why don't we go for a walk around the area?" Towa suggested as the trio exited the metro station.
"Sure." Rean replied.
"Actually, I was hoping to get some rest over there." Altina informed the two as she pointed to some nearby benches by the water.
"Oh, that's fine. Sitting down might do all of us some good after all that walking around the city." Towa responded.
"Oh no, feel free to go walk around without me." Altina insisted.
"Are you sure?" Rean questioned.
"I can take care of myself, thank you very much. If anything were to happen, Claiomh Solais has me covered." Altina assured him.
"One of the vendors around there should be selling ice cream." Towa informed her as Rean handed them some money.
They watched as Altina ran off to go buy herself some ice cream across the bridge.
"Well then, shall we?" Rean asked as he offered Towa his hand.
"Gladly!" Towa cheerfully replied as she took his hand.
The two quietly walked around the area hand in hand, Towa staying silent as Rean took in the sights.
"Hard to believe it's been a few months since we last went for a walk like this." Rean spoke up as he looked around the area.
"Yeah. They were one of things I immediately missed when I arrived in Calvard a few months ago." Towa admitted.
"It's sure been hectic these past few months. What with you using your NGO position to keep a better eye on Calvard for us, his Highness having me tag along with him on his travels over to the East, and then there's that letter I received from Master Yun." Rean noted.
"Enough about that. Let's just enjoy this small peaceful moment." Towa told him as she straightened her grip around his hand.
"You're right, now's not the time to be thinking about that stuff." Rean responded as he looked down at her.
Before they knew it, nightfall had arrived. The boundless night sky was decorated with countless stars and a full moon.
"Say Towa, didn't you say your family originated from the East? Have you tried looking into if you have any family still in Calvard?" Rean asked as the two looked up at the stars.
"Can't say I've found much regarding Herschel activity here in the Republic. Although apparently my grandpa had a lab here according to Professor Hamilton. They worked together on a project once before he moved to Erebonia." Towa explained. "I've been meaning to go visit the old research facility she told me they worked at and see if I can find anything related to his work, but the area around it is really dangerous. So I haven't been able to go."
"In that case, why don't I go with you? I'll keep an eye out while you investigate." Rean offered. "Crow should also be free, I'm sure he'd like to come along too so he can fight some monsters."
"You would? Thanks Rean, I really appreciate it." Towa replied.
"Any time, I'm sure you're bound to find something interesting in that facility." Rean assured her.
As Rean and Towa finished looping around the area and met with Altina, they saw that Bermotti's was now open and headed over there.
"Ah Towa, it's been a while since you stopped by. So good to see you again!" Bermotti greeted upon seeing them enter his bar. "Oh my, is that who I think it is? You must Rean Schwarzer, I'm truly honored to have such a handsome guest visit my establishment. And you must be Altina Orion, I've heard a lot about you through my information network."
"You must be the information broker Towa's been in contact with. We really appreciate your cooperation with Class VII's investigation." Rean replied as he handed an envelope to the humble bartender to pay off Towa's quote unquote tab.
"Control your husband, Towa. He's making me blush~" Bermotti joked as he took the envelope. "I do look forward to any further collaborations, along with any information Class VII is willing to share."
Right as Towa led Rean and Altina over to a booth at the end of the bar, two more patrons arrived.
"Looks like we made it just in time!" Fie said as she and Crow made their way over to Rean, Towa, and Altina.
"Y'know when Towa and Fie mentioned there being an information broker over in Edith that they were getting their information from, I was under the impression it would be a far more sketchy and dirty place. Not some typical bar." Crow admitted.
"I assure you, Comrade, my establishment is both a place to get information and to wind down after a long day with a drink or two. I run a clean bar. Well, at least on the surface." Bermotti gleefully told Crow. Alluding to his previous alter-ego to make sure they knew his expertise.
Bermotti took the group's orders as they sat down. Rean sat between Towa and Altina on one side, while Fie and Crow sat on the other side. The bartender quickly returned and placed the drinks in front of them on the table. Four standard cocktails for Rean, Towa, Fie, and Crow, while Altina had a lemon tea.
"Well then, shall we get started?" Rean asked as they all raised their glasses.
"A shame not everyone could make it." Crow lamented.
"If all goes well, we should arrange something back home to celebrate." Fie suggested.
"Yeah! I'll call everyone and figure out what date would fit everyone's schedules." Towa told them.
"I'll reach out to Juna and the others to see if they'd be interested." Altina added on.
With that, the five of them gave a toast.
To them, to those not present, to Zemuria, and to the future.
Laughs were shared as the five talked amongst themselves. Fie and Towa shared some stories about their experiences in Calvard and their new friends. Crow started talking about all the modifications he and George made to his orbal bike, and how it was now fit for combat. Altina talked about how things were going with her job at the Epstein Foundation. Lastly, Rean told them about how things were faring over at the branch campus.
Before long it became midnight, bringing their celebration to a close.
"Alright then, I'll be heading over to the Bracer Guild over in Station Street." Fie told them as they all exited the bar.
"I should hurry back to the Aramis Academy dorms over in the Auber District." Towa added on.
"Gotcha. Crow, Altina, and I should make our way over to the Seiden District-" Rean noted before Crow dragged him away from the others.
"C'mon man, think! You're a noble ain't ya? Do some of that ol' fashioned chivalry with Towa." Crow whispered. "Altina and I can make our way back to our hotel suite in the Seiden District without any trouble. You've got your keycard on you, so you can get in by yourself tomorrow."
Before Rean could respond, Crow ushered him back towards the others.
"Sorry about that, ladies. Rean here just had to tell me all about how worried he was about Towa walking back to the school's dorms all by herself. I calmed him down though." Crow informed them. Using Rean's overprotective reputation to create an easily believable lie.
"H-Hey!" Rean shouted in response to the blatant lie.
"Geez, Rean." Towa replied. Already familiar with that side of him. "You don't have anything to worry about, that area of town is safe. But if you're really that worried about me, I'll let you walk me to the dorms so you can see how safe it is for yourself."
"Sigh. Fine." Rean tiredly relented. At this point he might as well go with it now that Towa had agreed to let him walk her to the school dorms. Not that he was worried in the first place.
"I'm glad that was settled quickly." Altina commented.
Hehe. Now I get to have all the fun I want back at our hotel suite once Altina goes to sleep. Crow thought to himself as he began figuring out his nightly plans for later.
Once getting off at the stop in the Auber District, Rean and Towa made their way over the Aramis Academy dorms. Hand in hand.
If anything, Towa was the one walking Rean there since she was the one more familiar with the route than him. At the very least now he had some idea how to get to where she was staying without needing to ask for directions.
"It's getting kind of chilly." Towa commented before letting out an adorable sneeze.
Rean quickly took off his coat and draped it around Towa, giving her some much needed extra warmth.
"Thanks Rean." Towa replied as she buttoned up the coat. "Wait, but aren't you cold?"
"I'm fine, don't worry." Rean assured her as they continued walking. "Today was fun."
"Yeah, it was." Towa said in agreement as she took back his hand. "It was great being able to spend time relaxing like that, along with the others."
"Maybe next time we can have an outing by ourselves, just the two of us." Rean suggested.
"That'd be nice." Towa replied as she leaned closer to his side. "There's still so much in the city I haven't shown you."
Just as the two started making plans for their next outing, they arrived at the dorms.
"Well then, I suppose this is the end of the line." Rean commented as Towa took out her key to get into the building.
"Sorry, but you'll need to fill out a guest pass if you want to come inside." Towa informed him. "Unless you just want to sneak in, n-not that I would promote such a thing."
"It's fine, don't worry. It's getting late, so you should go and rest." Rean told her as he began to pat her head. "Don't want to set a bad example for the kids now, do you?"
"Alright, I'll make sure to get you a guest pass for next time." Towa replied. A little disappointed that he was leaving so soon.
The two quickly shared a kiss under the moonlight before bidding each other farewell.
"Goodnight, Rean!" Towa shouted as she stood outside the dormitory.
"Goodnight, Towa!" Rean shouted back as he waved back at her before walking away from the school premises.
"W-Wait Rean, your coat!" Towa loudly called out to him upon realizing that she was still wearing his coat.
Unfortunately he had managed to get far enough away to not be able to hear her. That or he was just feigning ignorance so she'd have an excuse to keep another one of his coats.
As he neared the metro station, Rean stopped and looked up at the night sky. There was a full moon, just like when he and his family visited Longlai a year ago.
He thought back to what Shizuna had said to him the night they fought outside the village.
"Just don't let your skill with a blade slip. The world will need you again one day."
He reached down and tightly gripped his sheathed tachi's handle. Something was going to happen soon, he could sense it.
Perhaps it was a lingering feeling from the other version of him that had been created by Elysium that was based on a grim alternate future it had calculated.
Rean took a deep breath and breathed out, clearing his mind. He took out his tachi and held it in his hands, looking at his reflection in the blade.
"I won't falter any of you. Not when we've all come so far." Rean said to himself as he thought about his family and friends in and outside of Calvard. "I will protect all of us, no matter what."
"Best you keep your word. The time for you to fight for the world is upon us." an old man calmly said as he walked past him. "I have faith in you, my final disciple."
Rean's eyes instantly widened upon hearing that voice. He quickly turned around to see his master again after all this time, only for him to have vanished into the night in an instant.
Regrettably, he sheathed his blade. Hoping to have another chance to speak with his master soon. He looked back up at the moon, his fighting spirit was ready for when he'd have to unsheathe his blade next.
"I'm back!" Rean said as he entered the hotel suite he was sharing with Crow and Altina.
Inside the dark living room he saw Crow in his pajamas sitting by himself on the pull-out couch with a bowl of popcorn in his lap, illuminated only by the television opposite of him. Playing a movie from a memory quartz inserted into the device, clearly directed by Salvatore Gotti. Along with more memory quartz scattered around the television, likely more movies by him.
The two awkwardly stared at each other for a few minutes as the movie continued playing.
"I thought you'd be staying the night with Towa?" Crow spoke up as he paused the movie using the television's remote.
"Not tonight. She has work tomorrow." Rean told him as he locked the door behind him. "What are you doing up this late?"
"Movie marathon." Crow answered.
"Seriously?" Rean questioned.
"Salvatore Gotti's use of action and sex to critique the glamor yet emptiness of certain modern day clichés got to me." Crow explained. "Not just his sense of spectacle, but his cinematography, sound design, costuming… it's all so good!"
"I shouldn't be surprised. You had an eye for that sort of stuff back at Thors. Like when you designed the costumes for all of us in Old Class VII for our school festival performance, or helped with New Class VII's play for their school festival." Rean noted as he walked past Crow. "Altina's asleep in her room, right?"
"Yep. Made sure she was asleep before I cooked up this popcorn." Crow informed him.
"Alright, enjoy your marathon. I'm going to go get some shut eye." Rean said as he made his way over to his room.
The suite they were given came with only two rooms, along with a kitchen, a living room, and a bathroom. While Altina was given the bigger room, Rean and Crow played a quick game of Vantage Masters to decide which one got the spare room. Rean ended up winning, leaving Crow stuck with the pull-out couch in the living room. In hindsight, it seemed like the perfect arrangement for the three of them.
"Hey wait, where's your coat?" Crow questioned as he unpaused the movie.
"I did the chivalrous thing and gave it to Towa to keep her warm." Rean answered with a proud smile before closing his bedroom's door.
Towa let out a tired sigh as she arrived in her homeroom before classes started that morning. Due to how late she and Rean had arrived the night before, she hadn't gotten as much sleep as she would've liked.
Something must've happened at the school while I was away yesterday. Towa thought to herself as she sat down at her desk.
There had been lots of gossiping in the hallway that morning, not that she was interested in whatever it was the students were talking about.
"Good morning, Instructor Towa." Agnès greeted along with her friends as they made their way inside the classroom.
"Good morning, you three! Please give me a moment before I start class." Towa replied as the three students made their way over to their desks.
"You can't be serious, Instructor Towa did something like that?" Agnès whispered to her friends seated by her.
"It's true, some of the night owl students saw her arriving late at the dorm with none other than Rean Schwarzer." Albert quietly confirmed.
"But it's not like she snuck him into her dorm room, right? She doesn't seem like the type who'd break school rules like that." Agnès softly questioned. "He must've just walked her to the dorm before leaving."
"Well no one knows for sure what happened. But I overheard one of the other instructors say that they saw Towa washing a coat that was too big for her in the morning. So clearly something happened between the two of them last night." Odette quietly argued. "Judging by the pictures of him in some of my magazines, I can't blame Instructor Towa for sneaking him into her dorm room and having some fun. She really got herself a catch."
"I see…" Agnès responded as she turned to face Towa. Her image of the petite instructor no longer being the same as it once was.
From the corner of her eye she noticed Agnès uneasily looking at her. Being the friendly instructor she was, Towa innocently waved back at her student before looking back down at the paperwork on her desk.
Oh, I should call Rean to come pick up his coat after school. I can also give him that guest pass too. I might as well show him around the school too while I'm at it. Towa thought to herself as she looked over that day's lesson plan one last time before classes started.
Unaware of what bringing Rean inside her dorm room would entail in regards to what her students assumed about her personal life.
Author's Note
I hope you all enjoyed this fic!
You know what else is at the brink? This fic! lol
I got the idea to write some fluffy Rean and Towa spending time in Calvard along with Altina after watching the opening for Kai, I knew I just had to write it before Kai actually released in Japan. Here I am... a day or two before it comes out... oops.
Had a lot of fun writing Rean, Towa, Altina, and the rest in Calvard. Although a lot of details may be off, since I haven't beaten Daybreak yet... oops. Then there's the matter of Daybreak II, and by extension Kai. Apologies if some stuff isn't canon compliant with the latest arc, only relied on what I played and the few things I knew about DB2. Along with just some guesses based on the info released about Kai.
The name was actually one of the last things I came up with for the fic. Inspired by some fan guesses towards what Kai's official English name would be once its Western localization gets announced. In particular "Trails at the Brink". Might have to change it in a year or two.
Sorry it's been a long while since I last posted on here, I wasn't too sure if other projects like the ReanTowa one shots or the Rosine fics were wanted here. But after some comments on the other site, I've decided to cross post the other fics here instead of just Trails to Eternity. Which I assure you all, I'm still working on! So expect me to work on clearing out the backlog of fics, that are allowed to be on this site, some time soon.
