It was the next morning and the warmth of dawn could be felt through the open window, the sun's rays peeking through the gap in the curtain and onto Goku's face. But, he wasn't complaining as he lay there, his little wife in his arms and against his bare chest where she belonged, her potent scent filling his nostrils as he nuzzled the top of her head.
Goku grinned when he heard Goten try their bedroom door, and immediately giving up once he realised it was locked. Goten didn't fully understand why it was locked sometimes, he just knew it meant mommy and daddy time, or 'kissy kissy' time as he and the other little rugrat, Trunks described it. Goku sighed contently, enjoying a few more moments wrapped up and lost in his own little paradise with his wife. He pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead and he felt her stir in his embrace.
"Good morning" she softly spoke against his warm chest.
"Mornin'. Goten's awake" he whispered to her.
"What's the time?" She asked him groggily. Goku looked over her head at the clock on the bedside table.
"Gone 8"
"We slept in a bit" she yawned out, before pulling from his chest so she could look up at him. Goku smiled.
"Won't hurt" he told her before nudging her nose with his.
"Well, we better get up, I need to start breakfast"
"Mmm, I'm so hungry" he murmured happily.
"You're always hungry" she giggled.
"I am for your food"
"You smooth-talker" she teased, before kissing his chin. Goku quickly stole a kiss from her lips, earning a contented hum against his in return. When he pulled back from her lips a few moments later, he couldn't stop himself from ogling her, that boyish charm she loved reflecting all over his face.
"What?" she asked him.
"Just happy I woke up to you" he told her honestly, a sweet, bashful expression on his face. Chichi giggled at him, her heart soaring at his words, before planting her lips back onto his.
"I'm gonna hav'ta go to my old house. Need some clothes" he suddenly remembered, as he broke the kiss.
"Well, why don't you go there now and pack up your things?" Chichi suggested. It took a moment, but Goku was suddenly elated, his eyes wide, almost sparkling with joy.
"Really?" Goku hoped this wasn't a prank, 'cause that would be mean.
"Yes, really" she smiled back at him, "You can wash-up when you get back and then have some breakfast"
"Okay, let's go!" He chirped, jumping out of bed, grabbing his little wife on his way up and throwing her naked body over his shoulders. Chichi couldn't help but laugh at his enthusiasm.
Goku and Chichi walked into the kitchen a short while later where Goten was sat playing one of his hand-held games with a glass of milk at the kitchen table.
"Hey, mom, can we have pancakes for breakfast? Please? I'll help make 'em" Goten asked his mother when he saw her.
"Mmm, pancakes sounds great!" Goku agreed.
"Pancakes it is, then" Chichi responded.
"Yes!" Goten fist pumped the air, his attention then on his father who was dressed in yesterday's clothes and had his shoes on, "hey, dad, where ya goin'?" Goten wondered as his father approached him.
"Oh, I gotta go to my old house an' get my stuff. I'll be back before breakfast is ready"
"Okay" he shrugged.
"Hope ya doin' chocolate chip pancakes, they're my favourite"
"Of course, dad! They're my favourite, too"
"Good, okay, I'm off" he ruffled Goten's hair before giving Chichi a peck on her lips, "Won't be too long" he winked at her before leaving the house. Chichi's smile didn't leave her face, her eyes on the door Goku had walked through. She then caught sight of her youngest son in the corner of her eye and he was smiling to himself.
"What are you smiling at, mister?"
"Nothin'" he bashfully replied, "just ... glad you an' daddy are ok now". She took him in for a moment. Despite his innocence and his Goku-inherited nonchalance, Goten took in a lot more than he give off. Chichi knew Goku not living at home affected him a lot. It affected them all. Chichi walked over to her son, his innocent little eyes peering up at her.
"I'm sorry you had to see all of that, Goten. But, everything's okay now" Goten nodded.
"I'm glad, mom. I like it best when daddy's home with us" he told her. Chichi's heart all but melted.
"Me, too" she agreed, "Now, c'mon, let's make those pancakes!" Chichi chirped to her son.
Goku had been gone for around 20 minutes, in his little cabin in the woods, when he stopped mid-packing of his belongings and he glanced around at the little house, wondering what he would do with it now. Maybe it could be a little getaway for him and Chichi when they wanted some alone time, maybe he could spend time with the boys here and fish in the lake.
When he was all packed, he stood outside the cabin, taking it all in. A few months ago he would have laughed at the thought of him being able to go home. It was touch and go, but he was really worried he'd never get to go home.
He built a fort with the bricks that were thrown at him. But, it was never going to last, it was always going to come crashing down on him. He was only glad he didn't have to rebuild his fort, because he was finally going home.
Home.
Going home was a joy you just couldn't understand unless you had to leave it. And it wasn't really the house he missed, it was the feeling, the people he loved, the memories, the sense of calm that would completely overcome him. He could never get that anywhere else.
And he missed his wife. He'd missed his wife a lot over the years through his endless battles and his journey across the Universe. But, none of those absences compared to this. He was always able to come home before, but this time he nearly lost everything. His wife nearly slipped away through his fingertips like forbidden sand.
His Universe became a whole lot bigger, but it became even more empty.
People say you don't know what you've got until it's gone. But, the truth is, he knew exactly what he had, he just took it for granted and didn't think he'd ever lose it. He was naïve, he was careless and selfish. He knew he wasn't an easy person to love. It was almost as if there was two different people inside of him and the person who left in the morning was not the same person who came home in the evening. But, she never gave up on him. And that's all he needed from her, to be there so he could come home to her. Because she was his home and always would be.
His Chichi. She was like the river that run past their home, and she made him remember just how beautiful it felt to be moved by something that was completely out of his control. It was always out of his control. Falling in love was one of the hardest things he'd ever done, because he was so clueless, because he was so aloof, because he was so damn guarded, because he had no control over it.
Goku had always been a simple man, and he was fully in control of his own life. He did what he wanted when he wanted to, he risked his life with nothing to lose, he spent a lot of time being alone, with nothing holding him down and nothing stopping him from taking off on his next venture.
She was the first and only person who made him stay. But, not because she physically made him, no one could make him stay, his friends tried and failed. He stayed because he wanted to. And he'd never felt that way before. It scared him, confused him, made him anxious, made him happy. He finally had a reason to stay with someone, to make a life with someone, to protect someone.
To love someone.
She was everything he didn't know he needed.
She became his entire World and he could do nothing but fall so damn hard for her that he hit the ground.
Completely out of his control. And he couldn't help but smile at the thought of it.
His thoughts were interrupted as he suddenly caught sight of the little deer that sometimes passed through, as it came through the thickets. He decided to pick some berries and sit with his little friend by the unlit fire pit, feeding him the small bits of fruit.
"I'm goin' home, now" he told the deer as he gave him some more berries, "I'm goin' home to my family, where I belong" the deer looked up at him, and for the first time he let Goku stroke his head. Goku smiled wide.
"Thanks for keepin' me company out here. Maybe I'll see you again, soon" he gently told the deer, letting him eat the last of the berries.
Goku returned home just in time for breakfast. He quickly dumped his things in the bedroom and washed up, before joining his wife and son at the table.
It was the best breakfast ever! He was so happy that his cheeks were hurting!
Goku helped Chichi clean up after breakfast, both of them playfully touching or kissing one another as Chichi washed the dishes and Goku dried them. It was then Chichi suggested a family BBQ for dinner, being as it was the weekend and everyone would likely be free, and she was just in the best mood and wanted to put together the best food for her family to enjoy outdoors.
Plus, BBQ food was Goku's favourite! He loved all the meat they ate for a BBQ, it was one of the only times Chichi would let him eat so much of it. After finding out her husband was going to become sick from the heart virus many years ago, Chichi made sure Goku had a more healthier diet, with less meat and more vegetables, potatoes and fruits. And this continued even after he survived the disease and when he returned from his death against Cell. Goku couldn't complain, his wife was looking out for him and he still loved everything she cooked for him. She was his favourite chef, after all.
After her wild boys engaged in some play fighting in the lounge, Chichi sent Goten on a messenger mission mid-morning, to go and see his brother and then his grandpa, to let them know about plans for that evening. She could have easily phoned around the family to inform them, but it gave Goten a great purpose that morning, which he was excited about, and it gave Goku and Chichi some much needed alone time.
Goku stood leant against the door frame and peered into their bedroom, watching as his little wife started to unpack his things. He heard her mutter under her breath about the sloppy way he just shoved his clothes into bags and it made him smile wider.
He missed her smile, her laughter, the way she'd shower him with the sweetest love, but he missed her anger, her feistiness, and the way she'd put him in his place.
His amused smile turned to one of adoration. They'd been through so much together, through thick and thin, but they still held on to one another. He would never be able to express how much he appreciated her and how much he missed her. It had been a long ride with her. But it had been an even longer and harder ride without her.
"Can I help?" Goku announced his presence, startling her slightly as he walked in.
"Helping would have been packing your clothes properly, Goku, look at the state of them! I'm gonna have to iron all of this"
"Sorry, I was just excited an' wanted to get back here" he admitted to her. She didn't need to look at him to know he was giving her that cute little pout of his. She could only shake her head, a small smile on her face as she put all of his clothes into a tidy pile and popped it in a basket, ready to carry to the kitchen. She grabbed his few toiletries and placed them in their master bathroom, before returning to their bedroom where Goku sat at the bottom of their bed looking at her.
"What?" she wondered.
"Come here" he gently coaxed her over, tapping the tops of his thighs. He drew her in with his eyes and before she could withdraw her mind from it's far off places, his strong arms were around her and she was straddling his waist. Their eyes were locked, her breath hitched in her throat as his one ginormous hand cupped her cheek, his large thumb gently stroking her soft, porcelain skin.
"I missed you so much" he whispered to her. Her midnight eyes darted back and forth his, the intensity of his gaze making her heart race.
"I missed you so much, too. It was too quiet without you ... but, not so messy" she softly joked. He cracked a small smile at her, the crinkle in his eyes stirring that familiar warmth in her chest and the flutter in her belly.
His large, bear-like hands took her petite ones, and he held them between them. Chichi observed with tender eyes as he pulled her hands up to kiss them, a gentle, feather-like touch, a kiss that told her he was here with her, and he wasn't going anywhere. As he rested their entwined hands between them, his eyes remained on their embrace, many thoughts run through his head.
Her hands fitted in his like they were always meant to. It made him feel safe, it gave him strength, like he could conquer the whole Universe with just one hand, as she firmly held the other.
A sense of peace completely overwhelmed him in that moment, as he sat there in an intimate silence holding his wife's hands. How sweet and soothing it was to feel at peace, something everyone longed for and sighed for, millions searching for it, but not everyone being able to find it. He lost this feeling for some time, he was separated from this feeling of completeness. He knew he had to fight with everything he had to get it back, he knew he had to pick himself up off the ground and get back on the right path. He confessed his sins, he bared his scars, he suffered the consequences.
He found his peace through courage, through forgiveness, through her undying love for him.
He felt her fingers moving, caressing, searching. He watched as her fingers rubbed along his wedding ring, the thick, golden band still proudly displayed on his ring finger. Well, it was a symbol of the love they had, but all he thought he had left of her. He replaced her with a piece of shiny metal, because he had no choice but to. This ring didn't symbolise what it should have. Looking at it now made him sad, because for a moment he lost everything but this piece of gold.
He never wanted this ring. He just wanted her.
He felt his little wife move and his eyes watched as she broke their embrace for a moment, so she could carefully take his wedding ring and slip it off his finger. She held his ring in her hand, her eyes on him as he silently gaped at it.
"I think it's time to put this back where it belongs" she whispered softly to him. Goku tilted his head up, so his eyes could reach hers. He was in complete awe of her as he gazed at her, his heart thumping like something crazy in his chest.
He loved this woman so fucking much.
He wished he had the vocabulary to explain it to her.
He let her get up from his lap, and he happily observed as she opened the drawer to her bedside table and pulled out the little, blue satin box she kept safely nestled inside. She opened the small box and placed the ring back inside, right next to hers, in the empty spot, in it's rightful place. She placed the box back in the drawer and closed it, before gently padding back over to him.
Lost in her eyes, he let her sink back onto him, her hands reuniting with his, their fingers interlocking once more. Goku closed his eyes and rested his forehead against hers, a sweet intimacy they always engaged in when wanting to just be close.
I hope you hold on and never let me go. He thought to himself as he felt her fingers caressing his.
"D'you remember when we first got married, an' you asked me what my favourite thing in the whole World was?" Goku gently asked her, breaking the silence.
"I remember. You said it was your grandpa, but, when Gohan was born, you asked me if you were allowed to have more than one favourite, because we were your favourite, too" she fondly remembered his words. Goku smiled warmly.
"I did say that" he agreed, "but, if i'm bein' honest, you, Gohan an' Goten are my most favourite"
"Even more than your grandpa?"
"Even more than my grandpa" he told her, "but, don't tell him that, he might get upset" he whispered playfully, putting his one finger to his lips as if to tell her to keep hush about it. Chichi chuckled at his silliness before wrapping her lithe arms around his thick neck.
"Well, just so you know, you are our most favourite, too" she tenderly spoke, bopping his nose with her own.
"Good" he hummed out, before his one hand came up and he grasped her by the back of her head and he pressed his lips to hers.
The kiss was soft at first, but it swiftly became more sensual, the intensity of it making her cling to his solid form, her mouth eagerly opening against his so he could slip his insistent tongue inside. As his tongue explored the depths of her mouth, she couldn't stop the low moan that escaped her. His tongue, his lips, his hands were sending wild tremors across her nerves, all of his ministrations evoking sensations she still couldn't believe to this day were even possible.
This wasn't a kiss to prove himself to win her back, this was a kiss to tell her how much he loved her. And she could feel it in the deepest parts of her soul, his bruising touch completely taking her breath away and setting her on fire.
And no matter what, nothing would ever be able to douse this fire.
As his soft lips descended and peppered the delicate skin of her neck with hot kisses, Chichi fell limp in his arms. Her eyes drifted shut, her mouth gaped open, breathy moans vacating her parted lips at his sensual touch.
"Tell me how much you really missed me" he murmured against her throat before grazing her skin with his canines, making her shiver.
"Oh, Goku, I missed you so, so much" she groaned out, his tongue licking up the column of her throat, his dicey fingers unclasping the clips to her cheongsam.
"Mmm, did'ya miss the way I kissed ya?" he huskily asked her, his lips descending down her chest as he pulled her dress from her body.
"Yes" she moaned, her hands delving into his thick, wild hair and gripping hold, pushing his face firmer against her chest.
"How 'bout the way I tasted ya?" he murmured, before pulling down the cups of her bra and sucking a pebbled nipple into his mouth.
"Oh, Kami, Goku, yes!" she voiced her enthusiasm, yanking his hair and throwing her head back as he feasted on her supple breasts. His one large paw held a breast as he suckled on it, the other slithered down between her thighs where he spread them apart and rubbed her heated core through her wet panties.
"I betcha really missed the way I touched ya, huh?" he rasped, biting one of her throbbing nipples, his eyes narrowing in on her, a grin on his face as she yelped and leered down at him.
"Goku, I want you" she breathlessly demanded as she glared at him through hooded eyes.
"You want me?" he repeated, his tongue darting out to lick her nipple teasingly, "How much d'ya want me?"
"Goku!" she whined for him, her hips grinding against his hand as his fingers played with her.
"Nah, I wanna hear it. I wanna hear ya say just how badly you want me. That ya want me so bad ya can't take it anymore" He pulled her silky panties to the side, so he could slip a finger inside, his palm rubbing against her clit, "Lemme hear ya say it. How bad do ya want it?" he roughly whispered to her, his lips all but inches from hers, her ragged, hot breath fanning his lips, making them go dry, the tip of his tongue coming out to moisten them.
"Oh, Goku, I want it so bad! I need it!" she gasped out against his lips as he leaned in closer, her fingernails digging into the taut skin of his shoulders as he sped up his movements between her legs.
"I want you to want me as badly as I want you" he gruffly told her.
"I want your hands all over me!" she hoarsely spoke as she rode his fingers, "I want my hands all over you, I want your lips on mine, I wanna feel them all over my body. I want you to hold me, I want you to make love to me over and over! I want you to fuck me!" she rasped, the flames ablaze in her midnight eyes.
"Chichi" he strained out.
"Give it to me, Goku! Give me everything!" she commanded her husband. He didn't give her time to think as he grabbed her and slammed her on her back against the bed, a gasp fleeing from her lips. She couldn't help but bite her bottom lip as she watched her beautiful man undress before her.
"We were always meant to be, you an' me" he told her as he hastily threw his clothes aside.
"Is that so?" Chichi asked him, watching in anticipation as he climbed on the bed and crawled over to her.
"Uh-huh, ain't no one tough enough to handle me" he reminded her, as he blanketed her petite body with his large, naked one. He leant himself on his one elbow so not to crush his little wife, his free hand coming up to tenderly comb some of her loose bangs from her face.
"Ain't no one tough enough to handle you, either" he winked at her.
"Then, handle me" she dared him, her plump lips slightly parted, begging to be kissed, her vixen eyes holding him hostage.
Coarse, but gentle hands combed through her loose locks, before gripping her at the back of her head, forcing her closer to him, and holding her there where his lips faintly brushed against hers.
"Goku" she breathed, her eyes heavy, her warm breath caressing his lips.
"That's right" he purred, "That's my name. I'll have ya screamin' it later. Now, get on ya knees" he crushed her lips against his, a low moan coming from his wife at his roughness. He broke the kiss a few seconds later, a very satisfied smirk on his face as he admired his handy work. Her lips were puckered, her eyes heavy with desire, her cheeks flushed that perfect crimson red that he loved.
As she moved away from him to position herself, he let go of her hair, that naughty little smile of his never leaving his face as he watched her get onto her knees, just like he asked. Her eyes drifted shut, her eyelashes fluttering as his soft lips peppered hot kisses up her spine, making goosebumps spread across her entire body, her nipples hardening as they remained exposed from the cups of her bra. She felt his fingers on her bra clasp, his lips reaching the crook of her neck as the elasticated fabric sprung open, freeing her completely.
He threw her bra behind them and she sighed as he hovered over her, pressing his hulking body onto hers, the warmth of his chest against her back giving her comfort, the feel of his raging need against her thigh exciting her. His one arm reached under her, where he boldly cupped her bare breast, his teeth tugging at her ear lobe, a sensual act that drove her absolutely crazy!
He let the fingers of his free hand slowly glide down her one side, making her shiver, his hand reaching the waistband of her knickers. He tugged at her underwear, dragging it swiftly down her one thigh, before reaching over to the other side and pulling it down, letting it drop at the backs of her knees. As she tried to kick the underwear from her legs, his sneaky hand snaked between her thighs, fingers touching and caressing her most intimate area.
Goku felt her shudder in his arms, gasping in bliss, that delicious, tangy smell between her legs getting his blood pumping.
"You're all I could think about when I was away" Goku murmured against her shoulder as his fingers played their melody. After freeing herself of her underwear, Chichi's one hand came up to hold the side of his face, a soft moan sifting through her lips.
"Oh, Goku, I couldn't stop thinking about you, either" she all but murmured, enjoying the much needed attention he was giving her.
"All I wanted was you. All I ever want is you, Chichi" he admitted his truth, before taking his aching shaft and slipping inside of her. They moaned in unison, his intrusion making her arms and legs tremble. He carefully reached around her and pulled her up so she was flush against him, her back to his chest as he slowly rocked back and forth.
Chichi sucked in a breath as he penetrated her deeply, his large size stretching her in the most incredible way. Throaty cries escaped her as he followed with intense thrusts, picking up the pace, the adrenalin rush hitting like a torrent tornado. She still held his face against her own, not wanting to lose that contact, not wanting to be apart from him. She turned her head so she could face him, and he immediately kissed her, no second thoughts. Tender, teasing kisses, moans fleeing from their mouths as their tongues danced.
He revelled in their intimacy, where nothing existed, but them. No space, time, or inhibitions. No secrets, no lies.
As he held her to him as tightly as he could, he felt his resistance wavering, emotions threatening to break free if he didn't contain them.
Through all of his failures, his flaws, his mistakes, she still said yes. She accepted him.
She loved him.
You could hear it in the silence.
She chose him, every single time.
As he held her closely, the remnants of his name falling off her tongue through staggered breaths against his lips, the feel of her warm, soft skin against his, the feel of her heart beating against his own, he felt a smile tug at his lips.
He never needed to choose her. She was his from the start, before he even knew it. But, he'd spend the rest of his damned life reminding her that she chose the right one.
"I love you" he whispered against her ear, his nose nuzzling the side of her face.
"I love you, too".
The whole family came together later that day for the BBQ. Everyone were in good spirits, the family were feeling whole again, there was an unmistakable happiness in the air.
"You're so cute when you're all flustered" Videl teased him as they sat on a picnic blanket on the grass with Pan. Gohan frowned and pouted like a little child.
"I'm not flustered, just ... do they need to do that?" he whispered with flaming red cheeks, referring to his parents as they kissed on the garden bench, his father's one large hand covering Goten's face as he sat on his lap.
"You're so funny" she chuckled at him, "I think they're adorable. I hope we're like that one day" Videl mused. As much as Gohan felt uncomfortable around his parents when they were all touchy feely and kissy kissy, he couldn't deny it, he hoped he and Videl had what they had in 20 years, too.
Nothing and no one could compare to his parents. What they had wasn't written in text books or spoken about in movies.
They weren't your conventional married couple, and they had been through the wars and back. Yet, here they were, still standing strong, still fighting for one another, still so deeply in love.
He couldn't help but smile.
Chichi broke their kiss and she smiled sweetly down at him, before ruffling his wild bangs and walking back over to the BBQ. Goku removed his hand from Goten's eyes and Goten peered up at him in question, a frown on his face.
"Hee-hee" Goku simply grinned at his little son, before pulling him into a headlock and giving his head a knuckle rub, Goten letting out a shriek, followed by laughter as he tried to fight his father off.
The Son boys went silent when food was served, as they normally did. They rarely engaged in much conversation when there was a feast in front of them. Chichi and Videl happily conversed, Pan sweetly cooing away, the Ox King and Mr Satan joining in with conversation here and there.
It was after dinner when Goten announced the family played a game together. Gohan had arrived to the Son household pretty early before the BBQ started, and he agreed to make a scavenger hunt with his little brother, for all the family to take part in after dinner.
"Can we do the scavenger hunt, now, please, mom?" Goten begged his mother as she cleared some of the plates from the table.
"Well, if everyone else are ready, then I'm game" she smiled at him, before taking the dishes inside.
"YEAH!" Goten cheered, "Gohan! Mom said yes!" Goten ran over to his big brother with the good news.
Once all the dishes were cleared, Goten declared the start of their scavenger hunt and he and Gohan handed out the list of items each team had to find. The Ox King and Mr Satan were in one team, Videl and Pan in another, leaving Goku and Chichi the third and final team.
Goku turned to face his wife, who sat next to him at their picnic table. He couldn't stop the warm smile that graced his features as he lovingly stared at her.
His world was dim for some time, but she selflessly brought back the light. He stood up from the bench, his eyes never leaving hers, as he reached out his hand for hers.
"Are ya with me?" he softly asked her. Chichi gazed up at her husband with one of the most sweetest smiles he'd ever seen.
"Always".
