Naruto and Mei continued walking through the Mist Village, heading towards the training grounds where Zabuza was waiting. Naruto's mind was still racing with thoughts about the conversation they just had. Going back to the Leaf wasn't something he wanted to think about, but he trusted Mei and knew she wouldn't lead him into something without reason.
As they approached the training grounds, they spotted Zabuza sharpening his massive sword, his back turned to them. The sharp sound of the blade against stone echoed through the clearing. Without looking up, Zabuza spoke. "You're late, kid."
Naruto scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Sorry, Zabuza. Got caught up with Mei."
Mei stepped forward, her usual confident smile in place. "Zabuza, I needed to borrow Naruto for a while. He'll rest up for now. In the meantime, I want to have a word with you."
Zabuza raised an eyebrow, finally glancing up. "Oh? What do you want this time, Lady Mizukage?" His voice was gruff, but there was a hint of curiosity.
Mei crossed her arms, still smiling. "You've been working hard with Naruto, haven't you? I wanted to speak with you on some important matters but before we do I figured it's only fair I treat you to dinner. Anywhere you want to go."
Zabuza's eyes narrowed in suspicion, his tone dry. "You better not be taking me on a date, Mei. I'm not that kind of guy."
Mei laughed, a genuine and amused sound. "Oh, shut up, Zabuza. Just deal with it. You're getting a free meal, don't complain."
Zabuza sighed heavily, putting his sword down with a thud. "Fine, fine. But if this turns into something weird, I'm out." He glanced at Naruto, who was looking between them with a mix of amusement and confusion. "You rest up, kid. I'll deal with the Mizukage and her… plans."
Naruto smirked. "Don't let her boss you around too much, Zabuza."
Zabuza grunted. "Just don't get soft while I'm gone. We'll pick up training tomorrow."
Mei waved Naruto off. "Go on, Naruto. Rest up. We'll be back soon, and don't worry—Zabuza will be in one piece when we return."
Naruto chuckled as he started walking back towards the village, leaving Mei and Zabuza behind.
As Naruto made his way back to Haku's place, the sound of familiar voices caught his attention. He turned to see Tazuna and Inari walking towards him, both of them wearing wide smiles. Tazuna, the old bridge builder, looked proud and a little emotional, while Inari seemed excited to see him.
"Naruto!" Tazuna called out, raising a hand in greeting. "We were just in the area and heard you were around. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
Naruto grinned, genuinely happy to see them. "Yeah, it has! You guys are doing alright, I hope?"
Inari nodded eagerly. "We've been doing great, Naruto! You really inspired us back then, y'know? Ever since you helped save the village from Gato, I've been training hard and working with Grandpa to make sure our village stays safe."
Tazuna chuckled, placing a hand on Inari's head. "That's right, kid. We'll never forget what you did for us. You've grown a lot since then, huh? Seems like you're doing alright for yourself, too."
Naruto rubbed the back of his head, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I'm just doing my best, same as always."
Tazuna's expression grew more serious as he spoke again. "Naruto, if you ever need anything—anything at all—you just let us know. You've done so much for us, so don't hesitate to reach out. You've got friends in our village who'll back you up, no matter what."
Inari nodded enthusiastically, his eyes shining with admiration. "Yeah! We owe you big time, Naruto, and we've never forgotten that. So, if you ever need help, we'll be there!"
Naruto's heart swelled with gratitude. He wasn't used to people offering him such genuine support, especially not after what had happened with the Leaf Village. But seeing how much he had meant to Tazuna and Inari made him feel like he was making a real difference in the world.
"Thanks, you guys. That really means a lot to me," Naruto said, his voice sincere. "I'll definitely keep that in mind."
With a final wave, Tazuna and Inari bid Naruto farewell, continuing on their way. Naruto watched them for a moment before resuming his walk back to Haku's place, a smile lingering on his face. The brief encounter had lifted his spirits, reminding him that no matter how tough things got, he still had people who cared about him and believed in him.
As he neared the house, Naruto's mind drifted to Haku and what she might be cooking up for dinner. The thought of a warm meal and spending time with her was enough to push away the worries about the future, even if just for a little while.
Naruto walked into the house, immediately feeling a sense of calm and warmth. The scent of a freshly cooked meal lingered in the air, and as he stepped further in, he saw Haku in the living room, sitting comfortably with a towel in hand, drying her long, flowing black hair. She had just come out of the shower, her slightly damp hair cascading over her shoulders. She was dressed casually in a pink night gown with a light pink shirt and black shorts, her natural beauty accentuated in the soft lighting of the room.
For a moment, Naruto paused, taking in the sight of her. Haku always carried herself with a gentle grace, and tonight was no different. She glanced up and noticed him standing there, a soft smile gracing her lips.
"Welcome home, Naruto," she said, her voice as gentle as ever.
Naruto snapped out of his daze and smiled back. "Thanks, Haku. I'm gonna take a quick shower, then I'll join you for dinner."
Haku nodded as she continued to dry her hair, watching him head toward the bathroom. Naruto washed off the day's training under the warm water, feeling refreshed as the tiredness from sparring with Zabuza slowly faded. He couldn't help but think about how lucky he was to be in such a peaceful place, surrounded by people who genuinely cared about him.
After a quick shower, Naruto dressed in more comfortable clothes and returned to the living room, where Haku had already set the table for their meal. She had prepared a simple but delicious-looking dinner: rice, grilled fish, and some vegetables on the side. As they sat down to eat, Naruto couldn't help but feel a sense of home in the quiet, shared moments like this.
"So, how was training with Zabuza today?" Haku asked as she took a bite, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Naruto grinned between bites of food. "It was tough, as usual. Zabuza doesn't hold back. I was dodging water attacks left and right, and he even summoned his Hidden Mist Jutsu at one point! But I managed to surprise him with a new water jutsu I've been working on."
Haku's smile widened. "I'm glad to hear that. You've been improving so much, Naruto. Zabuza's not an easy person to impress."
"Yeah, but he's also kind of scary when he gets serious," Naruto said with a chuckle, though his tone held some truth. "He's really protective of you, you know. Said if I ever hurt you, he'd make me pay for it."
Haku laughed softly, her cheeks tinged pink. "That sounds like Zabuza. He's always been a bit… intense. But deep down, he cares in his own way."
Naruto looked at Haku, feeling a warmth in his chest. "Don't worry. I'd never hurt you, Haku. You're really important to me."
Haku's blush deepened, and she glanced down for a moment, clearly touched by his words. "Thank you, Naruto. You're important to me too."
The conversation drifted to lighter topics as they continued eating, the atmosphere between them warm and comfortable. After they finished their meal, Naruto leaned back, feeling full and content.
"That was amazing, Haku. Thanks for dinner," he said, rubbing his stomach.
"I'm glad you liked it," Haku replied, her soft smile still lingering. "You should rest now. I know you're going to need your strength for tomorrow's training."
Naruto nodded, knowing that more tough sessions with Zabuza awaited him.
After finishing washing the dishes, Naruto dried his hands and walked quietly into Haku's room. The door creaked softly as he entered, finding Haku already settled in bed, her long hair flowing over the pillows, and a small book resting in her hands. She was reading with a soft focus, her expression calm. The dim light of a nearby lamp cast a warm glow over the room, making it feel cozy and peaceful.
Naruto hesitated for a moment, feeling a bit out of place with all the thoughts swirling in his mind. He quietly walked around the bed and lay down on his side, facing Haku. She glanced at him with a soft smile, marking her page and putting the book aside.
"You look deep in thought, Naruto," she said, her voice soft but perceptive. "Something on your mind?"
Naruto stared at the ceiling for a moment, the weight of Mei's conversation with him lingering in his chest. "Yeah… there's something I need to talk to you about."
Haku shifted slightly, her full attention now on him. "What is it?"
Naruto took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "When I met with Mei today… she told me something important. Jiraiya-sensei came to the village, and Mei said I might have to go back to the Leaf soon."
Haku's eyes widened slightly, but she remained silent, waiting for him to continue.
"I don't want to go back," Naruto admitted, his voice quieter now. "I'm scared. The Leaf… it's always been home, but after everything they put me through—after everything I've been through there—I don't know if I can face it again. They hated me for so long because of what's inside of me. And now that I've found peace here, with you and Zabuza, I don't want to lose that."
Haku's expression softened as she listened, her heart aching for him. She understood his pain, how deeply the rejection from his own village had cut him.
"I know it's scary," Haku said gently, reaching out and placing her hand on his. "The past you had in the Leaf… it wasn't fair. They treated you terribly for something you had no control over. But Naruto, you've grown so much since then. You've become stronger, not just in your abilities, but in your heart. You've found people who care about you here, but there are people in the Leaf who care about you too, like Jiraiya and Tsunade. Maybe going back doesn't have to mean losing what you've found here."
Naruto looked at her, his blue eyes filled with doubt. "But what if it's the same as before? What if they still see me as the monster?"
Haku squeezed his hand, her gaze steady. "You're not a monster, Naruto. You've proven that over and over again. And if you have to face them, you won't be alone this time. You'll have people who stand by you—like me."
Naruto felt a surge of warmth from her words. "You'd come with me?"
"If you want me to," Haku said, her voice soft but resolute. "I'll go wherever you go. You've become important to me too, Naruto. I won't let you face your fears alone."
Naruto's heart swelled with emotion at her words. He knew Haku meant every word, and her loyalty, her presence, made him feel braver, even in the face of uncertainty.
"Thanks, Haku," he said quietly. "That means a lot."
Haku smiled gently, her hand still resting on his. "You don't have to make any decisions right now. Just know that whatever you choose, I'm here for you."
As the soft silence filled the room, Haku gently placed her hand next to Naruto's cheek, her fingertips grazing the faint whisker marks that defined his face. She traced them with a delicate touch, feeling the warmth of his skin beneath her fingers. Naruto turned his head slightly, his eyes meeting hers, filled with a mixture of curiosity and affection.
Haku, her heart racing, leaned in closer. Without thinking, she closed the small gap between them and gently pressed her lips against his. The kiss was soft, tender, and fleeting, but it sent warmth spreading through both of them. Naruto's eyes widened for a moment, but then he relaxed into the moment, feeling the connection they shared deepening.
When they finally pulled back, both of them were blushing, the warmth of their faces matching the comfort they felt in each other's presence. Naruto smiled shyly, not knowing exactly what to say, while Haku's lips curved into a soft smile of her own, her cheeks still pink from the kiss.
Neither of them needed words right then. The closeness, the unspoken understanding between them, said enough. They both shifted in the bed, finding a comfortable position as they leaned into each other's warmth. Haku rested her head on Naruto's chest, her hand still gently resting on his, and Naruto wrapped his arm around her, feeling a sense of peace he hadn't felt in a long time.
As the night grew quieter, the two of them drifted off to sleep, wrapped in each other's embrace, both finding solace in the bond they had formed.
In the private, dimly lit section of the restaurant, Mei and Zabuza sat across from one another. The quiet hum of the rest of the diners felt distant, leaving them in a peaceful bubble of solitude. The server had just left their table after setting down their meals, and the scent of freshly cooked dishes filled the air. Zabuza leaned back, eyes sharp but with a faint look of curiosity as he picked up his chopsticks.
Mei, sipping her tea, let out a small sigh before turning her attention to him. Her usual playful demeanor was tempered by the seriousness of the topic. "Zabuza," she began, setting her cup down. "Naruto's sensei, Jiraiya of the legendary Sannin, has come to speak with me."
Zabuza's eyes narrowed at the mention of Jiraiya. "The pervy hermit, huh? What's he doing here in the Mist?"
Mei smirked faintly, but it faded as she continued. "He's concerned about Naruto's disappearance. The Leaf is starting to realize the weight of what they've done in banishing him. But it's more than that… we're being requested to come to the Leaf to discuss the situation formally. They want to speak about Naruto."
Zabuza paused, his chopsticks hovering over his food. "So they want him back now?" His voice was gruff, clearly irritated by the thought. "The same people who threw him away?"
Mei nodded. "It seems they underestimated his value, not just as a shinobi, but as a person connected to important figures—Jiraiya, the Kazekage… they're starting to regret their decision."
Zabuza grunted in displeasure, setting his chopsticks down with a bit more force than necessary. "And you're planning to drag Naruto back to that village?"
"Not exactly," Mei replied, leaning forward slightly. "But we can't ignore this. The politics between our villages are fragile. If we refuse to meet them, it could strain relations. I want to make sure whatever happens is in Naruto's best interest."
Zabuza frowned, his gaze hardening. "If that's the case, you better make sure those Leaf shinobi understand Naruto's place here in the Mist. He's made a life here, and I won't let them destroy that again."
Mei gave him a knowing look, her lips curving into a faint smile. "You care more than you let on, don't you, Zabuza?"
He grunted, turning his gaze away, but didn't deny it.
Mei sighed softly, her expression softening. "I don't want to force Naruto into anything either. But I also want to protect the Mist. We'll go, but only if Naruto chooses to, and only if it's on his terms."
Zabuza nodded, finally picking up his chopsticks again. "As long as he's given a choice, I don't care what happens. But if they try to manipulate him, I won't sit back and watch."
Mei chuckled softly. "I wouldn't expect anything less from you."
As Zabuza took a bite of meat, a bit of sauce dribbled down his chin. Mei, without missing a beat, reached over with a napkin, a gentle hum escaping her lips as she smiled and leaned forward to wipe the sauce off his face.
Zabuza blinked in surprise, freezing for a moment as Mei's delicate fingers brushed against his face with the napkin. His brows furrowed, and he gave her a sharp look. "Don't do that again," he grumbled, taking the napkin from her hand. "I'm perfectly capable of cleaning myself."
Mei just chuckled, her smile growing wider as she leaned back in her chair, clearly amused. "Oh, relax, Zabuza. No need to get all defensive over a little sauce." She sipped her tea again, her eyes gleaming with playful mischief. "Besides, it's not every day I get to see the great Demon of the Mist flustered."
Zabuza wiped his chin roughly, still scowling but not saying anything further. He could feel the heat rising to his face, though he was certain it was from irritation—or at least that's what he told himself.
Mei leaned in again, resting her chin on her hand, her voice softening just a bit. "You know, Zabuza, you could try letting people take care of you sometimes. It wouldn't kill you."
Zabuza huffed, finally looking up from his plate. "I don't need anyone to take care of me. I've survived this long without help, and I'll keep doing it."
Mei shook her head, a fond look crossing her face. "So stubborn. But you're wrong about that. Whether you admit it or not, people care about you—Haku, Naruto, even me." She let her words linger in the air for a moment, watching his reaction.
Zabuza was silent, his gaze lowering slightly as her words sank in. He didn't respond right away, but he didn't brush her off either. Instead, he finished wiping his face, setting the napkin down with a sigh. "Just… don't make a habit of it," he muttered, his tone softening slightly.
Mei's smile returned, a touch more genuine this time. "No promises."

Jiraiya strolled into Tsunade's office, his usual laid-back expression in place despite the serious atmosphere. Tsunade, sitting behind her desk, looked up, clearly frustrated.
"You're late, Jiraiya!" Tsunade barked, her eyes narrowing.
Jiraiya waved his hand dismissively. "Yeah, yeah, I know. But I've got news, so relax."
Tsunade crossed her arms, leaning back in her chair. "Well? Are Naruto and the Mizukage coming? We need this issue resolved before things spiral out of control."
Jiraiya nodded, his tone becoming more serious. "I spoke with Mei Terumī, the Mizukage. She agreed to meet. She's bringing Naruto with her. We're going to sit down with Gaara, sort everything out."
Tsunade let out a sigh of relief, though her expression was still tense. "Good. This whole situation with Naruto has been a disaster, and with Gaara involved, I need it settled quickly. The last thing we need is the Sand pulling back from the alliance because they're upset over how Naruto's been treated."
Jiraiya scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, Gaara's pretty attached to Naruto. I still can't believe Gaara's willing to go as far as taking Naruto in as a shinobi of the Sand if things don't go smoothly here."
Tsunade groaned, rubbing her temples. "That's exactly what I was afraid of. If we lose Naruto to another village, especially one of our allies, it could cause friction. Not to mention the Council…"
Jiraiya shrugged. "Well, that's why I'm here. I'll be by your side during the talks, and we'll smooth things over. Gaara's reasonable, and Mei isn't looking to stir trouble. We just need to show that Naruto's not being mistreated—or worse, abandoned."
Tsunade looked down at her desk, her voice lowering. "I'm not abandoning him. I've always wanted what's best for Naruto… but things have gotten complicated. The Council, Danzo, the village's fears… they've made everything harder than it needs to be."
Jiraiya nodded sympathetically. "I know. Naruto's caught in the middle of a political mess. But he's strong, and with people like you, me, and Gaara backing him up, he'll be alright."
Tsunade glanced up at Jiraiya, a hint of vulnerability in her eyes. "You really think we can fix this?"
Jiraiya smiled. "Of course. Naruto's not one to give up, and neither are we. We'll talk things out with the Mizukage and Gaara, and we'll figure out the best path forward."
Tsunade sighed, her expression softening slightly. "I hope you're right. We can't afford to lose Naruto—not just as a shinobi, but as a person. He's important to all of us."
Jiraiya placed a reassuring hand on Tsunade's desk. "We won't lose him, Tsunade. Trust me. By the end of this, things will start looking up."
Tsunade leaned back, a small smile forming. "Alright. Let's prepare for this meeting. We'll need all the support we can get to make sure Naruto's future is secure—both in the Leaf and for himself."
Jiraiya nodded firmly. "Consider it done."
