Dante Lawton (Reaper)
"How do you know my brother?" I glanced at Thea Queen through the bars of our cells, it had been several hours after our arrest, her because she assaulted an officer and because of drug possession whilst I was here for fucking her.
The officers had taken us straight down to the station where we were placed in neighboring holding cells for processing.
Thea had been kind or perhaps stupid enough to claim the drugs as her own, otherwise they would have likely said I had drugged the girl and would have probably seen me locked up.
A mysterious black man who just came into town and immediately drugged and raped some rich white girl? This could have gotten me a lifetime in a cell, like father like son I supposed.
It didn't concern me too much to be perfectly honest, they say there's no prison in the world that can truly hold the joker, and I sincerely doubted any crazy old clown was better than me.
It would mean having to say goodbye to any dreams of becoming a professional athlete however, I would be a criminal for life after all.
Thankfully at the rate it was going I would likely be out by morning, Oliver wouldn't press charged and I doubted his mother would either, and that wasn't even mentioning the fact that despite my driving license saying otherwise I was actually younger than her.
Underaged driving and a fake ID, wouldn't stick into any real charge in a city this corrupt.
"To be clear, I didn't know you were his sister." I answered and she scoffed.
"You're supposedly a friend of my brother's, you were atmyparty, but you didn't even know what I looked like?" She rolled her eyes at me from where she sat in her own cell.
"I met your brother while he was missing, you, with your fat ass, drugs, and fancy car are a little different than the annoying cute and somewhat bratty little girl he described." I said, and I meant it, her ass was surprisingly fat considering her figure.
"You met him on the island?" She asked in surprise, "He said he was alone on the island for five years."
It was my turn to scoff, "That island is a hotbed for criminals, pirates, mercenaries and rogue military officers, it's place near the exact middle of the Pacific Ocean and the turbulent waters combined with jagged cliffs surrounding it makes it almost impossible to approach by sea, and it takes a world class captain to do so. The perpetual fog that surrounds it makes it difficult for any kind of satellite imaging to see its surface and planes rarely approach for the same reason."
She stared at me with raised eyebrows, apparently still too damn high to understand long sentences.
"The island is the perfect place for bad people to hide from governments or other bad people, and there are alot of them there." I simplified.
She nodded, "So… how'd you meet?"
I frowned, on one hand, Oliver obviously lied to his family for a reason, I suspected he was to scared to tell them all the things he had done or would do in the future, telling her even more than I already had would be against his wishes.
It could be said this wasn't really my story to tell, particularly not to his sister.
On the other hand it was as much my story as it was his, and shewasone my girlfriends now, regardless of whether or not she knew it.
"I'll tell you, but first you have to agree not to tell anyone else." I watched her expression closely as she agreed, trying to see if she was sincere. I could tell that, like her brother despite their softness on the outside, there was some strength of character within.
I believed she wouldn't break our deal.
"It was about three and a half years ago, I had recently turned thirteen, my father is strict, military type, so he decided it was time for me to go on my first solo mission. He sent me on a pirate ship led by a scientist turned explorer as a mercenary for higher."
"You were thirteen three and a half years ago!?" She muttered, her eyes widened, "Wouldn't that make you-
"Younger than you?" I grinned, "The name's Dante Lawton by the way."
She blushed slightly, looking me up and down with renewed interest, she gulped as I continued.
"We came to the island in search of some Japanese World War Two ship that had sunk around there, by the time we arrived your brother had been there more than a year, that long in such a harsh environment had toughened him up from the playboy, he was good with a bow and knife and dangerous in a fight.
When we captured him from the island a crew mate and close friend of mine convinced me to help him escape." Sarah joined the pirate crew after we picked her up from the wreckage, and we had become fast friends over the year we spent together at sea, more than friends in fact.
I glanced over to see if Thea was actually following along and saw her nod in understanding.
"The three of us ended up escaping together and living on the island for several months with a few other survivors. We became fast friends living and surviving together like that." There was a slightly nostalgic smile on my face as I recalled our time on the island, it had been me, Shadow, Oliver, Sarah, and Slade, all living and fighting together, not that Sarah was particularly helpful in a fight.
I couldn't help but smile at the memory of her.
"What- what happened to the pirates? The scientist and the crew?" Thea asked curiously.
I shrugged, "Eventually, we killed them all. Oliver went missing and popped up somewhere in China whilst me and Sarah were left stranded on the island until a different group picked us up."
"Sarah?" She muttered, "She survived the wreck too?"
I smirked, "Remember what I said about not telling anyone?"
She nodded, staring at me in curiosity.
"I met Sarah before I ever met Oliver. We got the SOS signal from your fathers boat and showed up hoping to find a bunch of rich people we could take and hold at ransom. Instead all we found was floating debris, one of which held a half naked girls floating atop it."
"You wanted to hold my father ransom?" She asked, somewhat accusingly.
I ignored her as I continued, "Naturally, being pirates, they all immediately started arguing to decide who should rape her first, and I killed three people before the captain finally intervened and placed her under his protection. And, seeing as I had just killed the first mate, who argued that going first was in his job title, I was promoted to become the new first mate."
I couldn't hold back the slightly proud smile on my face at the memory of me becoming first mate of a ship when I was only thirteen and she raised and eyebrow at me.
"They promoted you to first mate… for killing the first mate?" She asked, sounding slightly bewildered.
"Pirates are cool like that, the only two people really loyal to him died by his side, the rest either couldn't care less or outright disliked him, and that isn't even taking into account he tried to go first despite losing to me at rock, paper, scissors."
Her eyes widened at my last words, "Wait, you were participating as well?"
I shrugged, "It's not like I would have really raped her, most of the fun in sex dies if your partner isn't enjoying it, and a knew the captain well enough to know he wouldn't have allowed it on his ship anyway."
"What happened the Sarah after that?" Thea asked after a few moments of silence.
"We became friends then…" I trailed off as I heard footsteps coming down the hall and a moment later six people came to stand before our cells.
"Thea!" Called the woman I assumed was her mother, she had blond hair and looked rather good for her age.
I recognize some of the others, unlike Oliver's, Sarah's description of her sister was still accurate, and damn she was hot.
The balding, miserable and angry looking man who I assumed was her father stood to her side and standing beside him was Oliver himself.
I couldn't help but cringe a little, they must not like each other very much.
Beside him was a black haired man dressed in a business suit and looking quite concerned, despite the suit I could tell he was just as dangerous as Oliver was. He had the look of a cold killer in his eyes.
The last person was a the same police officer who had arrested us in the first place.
It was Oliver who spoke first, approaching the bars as his eyes widened in shock and outrage, "Dante? What the fuck! I thought you were fucking dead! Instead not only were you alive but you slept with my sister?"
I couldn't help but let out a little chuckle, my eyes shifted from him to Sarah's sister who stood behind him.
"Could you imagine that? Fucking someone's sister behind their back? What a nasty, despicable, repulsive, down rightdisgustingthing to do." Dinah didn't even try to hide her smirk as I spoke, tearing into Oliver.
"At least I can claim ignorance, at least I didn'tknowshe was your sister when I slept with her." Oliver seemed to be struggling for something to say as I grinned at him.
"It's good to see you too, by the way."
Our attention was stolen by Oliver's mother, who had begun screaming at Thea, who I now noticedstillhad some remnants of dried cum on her face.
"I give you EVERYTHING! I buy you a CAR! I throw you a PARTY! I give you far more freedom than you have earned or you deserve, and instead of beinggratefulyou run off in your brand new car to take drugs and act like a whore for the first big black cock you could find!" I couldn't help but feel a little bad for Oliver, it seemed all the woman in his family now knew about my 'big black cock' as she put it.
Of course, unlike my cock, Thea wasn't about to take this lying down, "YOU of all people can't talk down to me! At least I'm not married, at least I don't enter a committed relationships before going off to fuck who I like. You CHEATED on dad, you CHEATED on Walter! You call me a whore but unlikeyou, I've only even had sex with one man, unlike your three hundred!"
Now they all knew that I took her first time in that car, great job Thea!
I noticed the black haired man in the business suit looking particularly angry at the mother and daughter's words, but he was doing a very impressive job of hiding it.
The police officer, who quite surprisingly looked the least uncomfortable of us all let out a small cough, breaking off Thea's mother's reply as he said.
"Perhaps you can continue this debate at a more appropriate time." I found it quite hilarious as both mother and daughter mirrored each other's movements as they glanced around at all of us before turning slightly red and looking away.
The officer gestured towards the older man who I thought might be Sarah's father.
"Well," He said, scratching his head and sending a verminous look in Oliver's direction before turning to me, "You were arrested on suspicion of Statutory rape, meaning you had… intercouse with an underaged girl."
He gave a small smirk as he glanced between me and Thea, apparently enjoying the fact Oliver was the one on the receiving end this time.
"According to the driver's licence you presented your name is Dante Lawton, twenty four. Someone who doesn't exist. Someone who does exist however would be Dante Lawton, sixteen, who is a student at spring hall academy in Gotham. Sound familiar?"
I nodded wordlessly.
"In that case your crime would instead be underaged driving. Which would normally see your parents receiving a hefty fine and possibly jail time if you weren't an orphan, as it stands you are facing either a hefty fine or many hundreds of hours of community service."
I couldn't help but smirk slightly, this city was so corrupt they weren't even going to let me see a judge, it really was pay to win around here.
"I'll pay the fine." I answered and he raised an eyebrow at me.
HeknewI didn't have any money.
Sure,Reaperhad many millions of dollars to play around with, but me? Dante Lawton? I was just a kid, and all the money my parents left me was taken by the government when my father was arrested, as far as they were aware I was completely broke.
"We'll cover the fine." Thea, who had been watching us piped up.
"Like hell we will!" Her mother retorted and the two immediately began arguing again, their screaming match echoing in the small cells and giving me a headache.
Annoyance bloomed within me, first Thea and her big fucking mouth had gotten us arrested, and now this? "Will youpleaseshut the fuck up?"
My deep voice drowned out their incessant screeching as they everyone turned to be, looking quite offended.
"I'm sixteen, not five, I can pay my own bills." They all looked at me as though I was some kind of alien creature from a far away land, the sheer shock and amazement on their faces was frankly insulting but I was cut of from having to answer it by the sound of more footsteps.
This one's were brick and sharp sounding and a moment later a rather handsome middle aged man wearing a perfectly cut and tailored business suit entered, his black hair was sleeked back and he carried a steel briefcase in one hand.
His eyes raked over the room as he took in every detail before saying, "Detective Quentin Lance, is it protocol to speak to your detainees before they've gotten the chance at any legal counsel?"
I grinned, my lawyer was here.
Everyone already knew the answer to that question, it was clearly Thea and her family's connection with Quentin Lance that had gotten them in here in the first place.
Sarah's fathers, Quentin went to speak but was cut off immediately, "It was a rhetorical question, you actions now are both illegal and unethical, release my client and escort us to a place where we can confer in privacy before you, and your entire station, how do they say? Catch a case."
I couldn't help but chuckle as they stared, I didn't doubt they recognized Sir Farlorn K. Ultenbolt, he was a legend in the realms of the ultra rich, the kind of lawyer billions begged to have him represent him.
Well their assistants begged anyway.
He was well regarded as the best and most exclusive lawyer in the world, the founder and leader of the biggest law firm on the planet.
Safe to say, I wasn't particularly concerned about going to prison.
Quentin didn't do anything as his Daughter, Laurel took the keys from his belt, looking apprehensively at my lawyer as she opened the cage I had been confined to, I stood up and gave her a charming smile.
"Thank you, beautiful." I winked at her and her cheeks tinted slightly red as I passed.
Turning to my lawyer I was about to follow him to our meeting place before I felt someone seize my wrist, turning I saw Oliver staring at me with a fierce look in his eye.
"I-is she alive?" He didn't say much, but I could tell what he meant immediately.
I nodded, only saying, "Sarah is alive." Before I pulled my hand from his slackening grip and began to leave.
Quentin had already directed his attention to Thea and was listing off her drug possession charges as I left, but I could tell by the way Sarah's sister, Laurel was looking at me that she had heard.
I ignored them as I followed my lawyer, "So, how much is your fee for this one?" I asked him.
He shook his head as we walked, "You don't even have $10 to your name, Mr Lawton."
"Ahhh, but that's just the way I like to live, fast and free, money comes and goes anyway." He chuckled, shaking his head in bemusement.
"I get the feeling you may give me even more trouble than your father did." I couldn't help but smile at the mention of my father, Deadshot.
"Speaking of my old man, I have to thank you for your work on his case." There was a good reason my completely sane father was in Arkham asylum for the criminally insane instead of a normal maximum security prison.
It would make the day I break him out far easier.
"There's no need, you'll find that there are many who owe debts to your father, and we're more than happy to use you to get out of them." I could here gratitude in his voice and I smirked, if he didn't want me claiming all his debts for myself he shouldn't have gotten his ass locked up.
We walked through the corridors of the station quickly, entering a conference room I could hear more screeching from Thea and her mother which was abruptly cut off as Mr Ulsenbolt shut the door.
We took our seats and he began immediately.
"I want you to speak as though the police force is listening, because they probably are." He gave a quick wink towards the concealed camera I could make out in one corner of the room as I nodded.
"Now, the problem you face at the moment it money, out simply, you haven't got any and you have to pay a million dollars fine for underaged driving and possession of false government documents."
"You fucking what?" I asked, raising my eyebrows and voice.
He stared coolly at me, "You really should have taken their Queen's money because that's certainly what the DA expected you to do, a million dollars is pennies to them."
"I'm not letting a woman pay my bills." I said stubbornly.
He chucked, shaking his head, "I expected no less, which is why I brought this."
He placed his briefcase on the table and pressed a finger to the finger print scanner, he opened the case and spun is round to show me it's contents.
I pulled out the contact and I began to read as he explained, "I've secured you a position for a place on the starling city NBA team, the contract starts at 500 thousand, but it scales with your performance."
I stared for a moment, quickly reading the sheet of before looking up at him with a frown.
He cut me off before I could speak, "It's only for a single season, after that your free. And let's face it, we both know you don't have anybetterways to make money.
"Starling city has a shit team." I pointed out, it was almost completely unfunded, not unlike Gotham's city team.
"So? I've seen you play, just make them win." He shrugged uncaringly.
I groaned, the truth was with my power, I could play with four monkeys and still win every match, but it wasn't like I wanted to carry a bunch of idols to glory.
We were interrupted rather rudely as the door was shoved open, Laurel Lance stormed in and slammed her hands down on the desk.
"What did you mean when you said 'Sarah is alive.'" She demanded, looking quite angry.
I stared at her a moment and I could see Mr Ulsenbolt was about to go on another tirade, probably about to threaten to sue the entire Lance line into bankruptcy for the next seven generations.
I stopped him with a raised hand as I looked Laurel up and down, they didn't look the same but I could see the resemblance between her and Sarah, it was their eyes, the slightly green hazel color was the exact same as her sister's.
I supposed I could spare a few words for a pretty girl.
"Last I saw her, which was about two years ago, she was alive, healthy and happy." I answered, and I cut her off before she could speak, she seemed rather stunned.
"I'm not answering a thousand questions, let me just call her and you can talk to her." I reached into my pocket, an old burner phone appearing in my hand from my inventory, quickly dialing a number
"W-wha-" Laurel tried to speak but I cut her off.
"Quiet, can't you see I'm on the phone?" I hit call and waited.
A moment later, after precisely three rings the phone was answered, "Hi, Sarah. I'm with your sister right now, she wants to talk to you."
There was silence for a moment, and just when i thought she wasn't going to answer I heard a shriek.
"WHAT!You told my sister I'm alive?" I pulled the phone from my ear at her loud voice frowning.
"Yes, and watch your tone, or I'll have to come over there and spank you." I said in a slightly authoritative voice.
"I- I've got a girlfriend now, Dante." I smirked at her subdued voice, good, at least she still remembered who was in charge.
"Then I'll spank her too. Now will you please talk to your sister? She looks really pitiful when she's about to cry." I didn't wait for an answer as I passed the phone to Laurel, who had tears welling in her eyes ever since she'd first heard Sarah's voice.
"H-hello." Her voice was slightly choked as she spoke.
"Hi, Laurel, I'm sorry I don't have much time, this isn't how I wanted you to find out, I'm sorry." She let out a sob at that, her smile radiant through the tears.
"I-it's ok, I'm just glad to hear your voice, it's- it's been too long." It was hard to tell if she was laughing or crying as she said that, and even my cold dead honorless heart felt something for her in that moment.
She looked so vulnerable, so confused but still so happy, she was clearly quite overwhelmed.
"Y-yeah, yes it has. I missed you." Even Sarah sounded close to tears now.
"I missed you too sis, are you doing alright?" For the first time in my life, I think I just heard Sarah let out a sob. This was the same girl who hadn't cried even when a bunch of stinking pirates were playing rock paper scissors to decide who should rape her first.
"That's your question? Not, what happened to you? Not, why did I leave you? Not, why didn't I get back in contact? Instead you ask if I'm ok?" I heard her let out a small laugh.
"I'm doing fine sis, I promise. And thanks for asking, I love you Laurel." I exchanged looks with my lawyer as both girls started to sob.
Was that really Sarah? The hardened, slightly crazy hot girl who was a member of the league of assassins?
I couldn't help but marvel as I heard her sobbing, and here I thought I knew every side of her.
Their conversation continued for a few more moments before Sarah said, "I've got to go, I'm sorry Laurel, I promise I'll come find you soon."
Laurel let out another sob as she said, "It's ok, I forgive you, just… be safe, ok? Please."
"I will. Also," Laurel was about to hand the phone back when Sarah added one last thing. "Despite appearances, Dante is genuinely a great guy, he's reliable, strong and smart and can take care of your problems if you need it. If you even need help you can go to him and he'll take care of you."
I couldn't help but feel touched, those words coming from Sarah meant a lot, and the fact she trusted my to take care of her sister was touching.
With that the call almost immediately Laurel burst into tears, she rushed forward, burying her face into my chest to muffle the sobs she didn't seem able to hold back any longer.
Her body was soft against mine as I wrapped my arms around her, patting her atop her soft blond hair, holding her tight and muttering, "It's ok, it's ok."
I felt her entire body trembling with each of her sobs and sighed, it was going to be a while before she was alright.
I smiled, I supposed I could spare a little time for a pretty girl.
Laurel Lance
She cried on his shoulder for an embarrassingly long time, but he hadn't seemed to mind, just standing there and accepting her sobbing with a soothing voice and comforting arm.
By the time it was over and she finally had her emotions under control she had become what he called an 'adorable mess' and he hadn't hesitated to invite her to dinner so they could talk further.
She watched him sigh his contract and say goodbye to Sir Ulsenbolt before he wrapped an arm around her waist and began to lead her out the station, she accepted his offer to walk her home.
She couldn't help but lean slightly against his shoulder as they walked and he didn't seem to mind, she had never in her adult or teenage life broken down into tears around a man that wasn't her father, and she felt closer to him for it.
He hadn't laughed at her, nor had he belittled her for crying like a child, he just held her safe in his arms, away from the rest of the world, where she could truly let go.
After the tears had started it was hard to make them stop, but he hadn't seemed to mind even as she wet his clothes with her eyes, he just took care of her.
Just like Sarah said he would.
She didn't really know their relationship let alone what happened to Sarah all these years, she was just grateful to find out she was alive and hear her voice, for her Sarah being ok was most important, everything else came second.
She guessed they might have been lovers.
Dante was a good looking man after all, big and strong, she had gotten quite a feel of the solid muscle he hid under his clothes while she cried, he was tall and handsome, young and kind, he was only sixteen but he seemed to mature, as though he experienced a lot of what life had to offer.
The way he had spoken to Sarah suggested they were at least friends, and Sarah did say she had a girlfriend now, which in itself was quite a surprise, so did that mean he was single?
She bit her lip.
None of that took into account the irregularities surrounding him, before she had visited his cell she looked into his profile, Dante Lawton, 16, was a resident of Gotham in a poor area, he excelled in school but didn't have any money.
His record was spotty to say the least, entire years with no information, his family was similarly blacked out, but it was obvious he had lived a rough life on the streets.
But none of that explained why Sir Farlorn K. Ulsenbolt himself, came all the way to star city in order to represent him, she had to stop herself squealing as the sight of the legend.
He had given Dante an athlete's contract, presumably to pay off the debt he had acquired with his most recent stunt, he had gotten the attention of multiple colleges and universities with his skill and looked to have a bright future ahead of him.
"If you have any questions, now would be a good time to ask." She heard him say in a soft voice as they strolled past Central Park.
She couldn't help but smile though she doubted he could see it in the dark early hours of the morning, she hadn't been quite certain on how to approach the subject.
"How- how did you and Sarah meet?" She stuttered slightly but he ignored it as he answered.
"This one's a long story, are you sure you want to hear it now." He let out a chuckle as her somewhat frantic nodding, his hand tightening around her waist as he drew her into the park they had been about to pass.
Starling city Central Park was as run down as most of the city, a large untamed forest sat squarely in the center of the city with nothing but a few paths to navigate it. It would have been a scary prospect if it weren't for his arm around her, she felt many things in his arms but fear was about as far from it as she could get.
"I suppose the story would start three and a half years ago, just when I'd turned thirteen, my father was strict, military type, and he decided that if I was old enough to be interested in girls then I was old enough to get a job." She smiled slightly as he continued, enjoying his deep baritone.
"And so I was signed up on a ship as a mercenary in the Pacific Ocean, it was on that ship that we found the wreckage of the Queen's Gambit and your sister, floating along on some debris." He was smiling fondly now at the memory as they walked together slowly through the quiet forest.
"What was your relationship with her?" She couldn't help but ask.
His smile in response was different, both happy and nostalgic as he said, "I fell in love with her."
He chuckled in response to her raised eyebrow, "To be fair, at sea there weren't many options, and she was beautiful."
He gave her a wink as though the compliment was directed as her before he said, "We were together on that ship for about a year, she was the first girl I ever had, and she taught me a lot."
Sarah was his first? She couldn't help but smile at how cute that was although she had trouble imagining the big intimidating Dante as a shy thirteen year old virgin.
"You never forget your first." She muttered, thinking back to her own first time, that entire relationship left nothing but regrets.
"Mm," He nodded, "Eventually we reached the island, Lian Yu, which is where I met Oliver, what happened there was a complex and rather bloody story but in the end the three of us were stuck in a sinking ship."
She frowned, her sister had almost drowned a second time?
"The hull broke and Sarah was pulled through, Oliver was knocked unconscious whilst I jumped after her." The look she gave him must've been as incredulous as she felt because he laughed.
"It probably wasn't my smartest action to date, though I wouldn't say it was the most stupid thing I'd ever done." She shook her head even as she felt gratitude that there was at least someone willing to go after her sister when she nearly drowned.
"We washed up on the island, both somehow alive and mostly un injured, at this time someone else picked Oliver up and took him away, the rest of our friends were dead and gone and it was just the two of us stuck there after that." After everything she had heard she couldn't say she was particularly surprised to hear that Oliver hadn't actually spent five years on the island.
"He must have assumed we died, but no, we survived several months on the island whilst I tried and failed to persuade her that we could just repopulate the island ourselves." She couldn't help but laugh at the image of a thirteen year old Dante trying to persuade her sister to reproduce on some barren wasteland of an island.
Eventually a different organization came by and picked us up, they were nice enough and as far as I know Sarah is still with them today.
She nodded, "Thank you."
They walked in comfortable silence until she finally asked, "Do you know if she'll be back?"
He gave her a soft smirk, "Don't worry, if she isn't back soon I'll go get her and drag her back myself, I'll be more than happy to discipline her." He mimed a spank through the air and she couldn't help but giggle as she wiped the quickly forming tears.
"Thank you, really. Thank you." She was saved from having to throw herself into his arms again when he pulled her into a tight hug.
They stood there for a few minutes, her letting out the occasional hiccup while he just held her close, gently patting her head.
"You know," Dante said causing her to look up, "I uh, have a basketball game in a few days, I'd uh, like you to come and watch?"
She smiled sweetly at his slightly shy sounding voice, "Are you asking me on a date?"
He looked her dead in the eye as he said, "After I win, I'd love to take you to dinner."
"And I would love to go to dinner with you, Dante." She answered with a grin.
