Hailey Upton and Jay Halstead have been married for about five months, and one single word, changed their lives.

Pregnancy.

Hailey gave birth to two children. Brooklyn and Charlie. Brooklyn was ten years old and Charlie was only 17 months, but he could crawl and babble, which brought a smile to everyone's faces.

It was the next morning, Brooklyn was on her summer break and it was soon coming to an end, which was always hard, especially being off for six long weeks.

Hailey was downstairs in the kitchen, preparing breakfast, while Charlie happily babbled in his high chair.

"Doo Doo!" Charlie babbled.

Hailey looked up from the sizzling pan of bacon and eggs, and looked at Charlie. "What you trying to say, baby boy?"

"Doo! Doo!" Charlie babbled again.

Hailey laughed, and walked over with the mushy bananas, sitting adjacent to Charlie. "Time for some mushy bananas! Your favorite!"

As Hailey fed him, she got interrupted by the soft creak of the floorboards."How's my little stinker doing?" Jay asked, walking over to the table.

Charlie clapped his tiny hands, and giggled. "Doo! Doo!"

Hailey and Jay laughed, and Hailey gave Charlie one last spoonful of the banana. "He's been saying "Doo! Doo!" all morning!" Hailey laughed, smiling softly.

"Well, he gets these things from me…"Jay laughed.

Hailey cleared the remainder banana mush on Charlie's chin and picked him up. "Well, you did help make him."

Jay choked on his coffee, and wiped the dribble. "Hail, not in the front of the kids."

Hailey laughed, and placed Charlie in his play pen. "What's so funny, dad?" Brooke wondered.

"No-Nothing, sweetie, what you doing?" Jay smiled, sipping his coffee.

Brooke held up a poster, which had her name in bright bold letters. "I'm running for class president!"

"That's amazing, baby!" Hailey beamed, returning from Charlie's play pen.

Brooke giggled, and continued creating her poster. "So, do you need some help?" Jay asked.

"Umm, how do you spell "President", daddy?" Brooke asked, looking up.

Jay put his coffee down, giving his full attention to Brooke. "P."

Brooke nodded, picking up her pen again. "RE."

"S"

Brooke gave a nod. "ID." Jay continued

Jay finished his coffee, and said the final letters. "Then, E, n, t."

Brooke finished writing the word, and smiled. "Thanks, daddy!"

Jay nodded, getting up from his seat, "No problem, Munchkin!"

As Hailey washed the dishes, Jay leant next to her.

"I was thinking, what if we took a trip out to the cabin?" Jay suggested.

Hailey placed the dishes on the dish rack, and dried her hands. "Cabin? I don't know, babe, with Brooke going back to school in less than a week, and Charlie has just started to learn not to pee in his bed, and if we do go, he might wet the bed again, and I know what your like with pee stains."

"What am I like? I'm fine with pee stains." Jay nodded.

Hailey smirked, crossing her arms. "Remember, Christmas?"

Jay nodded, not fully understanding. "Yeah, it comes round every year, what about it?"

"Burgess had just put Makayla down for her nap, and we were all drunk, but you were insanely sober, and we all tried to get you drunk, Ruzek even tried to put a shot in your lemonade! Anyway, Makayla walked out of the bedroom, and she had peed the bed, and everyone was fine with it, except. You."

Jay groaned, looking down. "Me? C'mon! Will used to pee the bed!"

Hailey chuckled. "Your point being?"

Jay leaned forward a bit, and whispered. "I had to live with him."

Hailey rolled her eyes, and started putting the dishes away. "Yeah, that's sort of how families work?"

Jay went to retaliate, but stopped himself. "Fine! I give up!"

Hailey smirked, and placed a warm hand on his shoulder. "Don't be a sore loser, babe."

Jay raised his hands. "I'm done with this conversation!"

He walked towards the stairs. "Where are you going, Jay?" Hailey asked.

Jay walked back down, swiftly picking Charlie up. "Me and Charlie are going to play with his trains, hopefully, he can calm me down with his cute little babbles."

"You're being a sore loser!" Hailey called back.

Jay's voice ricocheted off the walls. "NO! I'M NOT!"

Hailey laughed, and started wiping the tables. "Mommy? Are you and daddy fighting?" Brooke asked.

Hailey looked up, shaking her head. "No, baby, we're just having a playful disagreement!"

Brooke smiled, happy that there was no argument between her parents. "Okay! Can I go play with Charlie and Daddy?"

Hailey smiled, nodding. " 'Course you can! They're in Charlie's room, playing with his trains."

"Okay, Mommy!" Brooke smiled widely.

She scampered off excitedly upstairs, to join Charlie and Jay.

Hailey laughed, proud of her family.

Later, it was soon dinner time and Hailey was making her favorite dinner.

She walked over to the table, and placed the bread bowl and the salad.

"CHOW TIME!"

Brooke ran downstairs, with Jay carrying a sleepy Charlie with him.

Hailey set everything down on the table, and walked over to Charlie and Jay. "Hi my baby boy, you sleepy?" Hailey cooed.

Charlie whimpered, his tiny fist curled in Jay's shirt. "Yeah, I think trains wore him out." Jay commented.

"Come to mama, sweet boy." Hailey opened her arms, smiling lovingly.

Jay placed Charlie in his wife's arms, and Charlie snugged in.

Hailey rocked the baby in her arms. "I got you, sweet baby."

As Hailey danced around the room, Charlie let out tired whimpers. "Ma-Ma…"

Hailey shushed him softly, and placed him down in the bassinet and attached the mobile.

"There you go, sweetie." Hailey whispered, placing a soft kiss to his warm forehead.

She walked back to the table, and slid into her seat, placing a napkin on her lap.

Jay was already on his seconds, and Brooke was still struggling to finish her first.

Brooke watched Jay with wide eyes. "Daddy ate quick! How does he do that, mommy?!"

Hailey sipped her drink, and rubbed Jay's back. "Well, daddy's a sergeant now, because Uncle Voight has retired, so daddy is taking his place, and daddy needs a lot of food to keep alert, as he's in charge of mommy and daddy's unit, but I'm still a detective."

Brooke was shocked. She had no idea. "So, daddy's your boss as well as your husband, and mine and Charlie's daddy?"

Hailey laughed, and looked at Jay. "Yeah, he's a busy man."

Jay placed his plate back in the middle, and drank his water. "You all done discussing me?"

Everyone giggled, and continued eating the meal.

Later that night, The Halstead-Upton family were now tucked up in bed, fast asleep.
