As they approached the penthouse, Kisara had a terrible feeling about the whole thing. The building loomed over them, its opulent exterior belying the tension she felt inside. Joanne's father's penthouse was the epitome of luxury, but Kisara couldn't shake the unease gnawing at her.
"Here we are," Joanne said, her voice carrying a false cheeriness as she opened the grand door. "You'll be safe here."
Kisara forced a smile, her instincts screaming at her that something was wrong. She stepped inside, the luxurious surroundings doing nothing to soothe her anxiety.
Joanne closed the door behind them, the sound echoing ominously in the vast space. Kisara's heart raced as she followed Joanne further into the penthouse. The air felt heavy, and Kisara's mind was in turmoil.
"Why did we come here, Joanne?" Kisara finally asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Joanne's smile faltered for a moment before she regained her composure. "I just wanted to keep you safe," she said smoothly. "After everything that's happened, I thought this would be the best place."
Kisara nodded, but the unease wouldn't leave her. As they walked deeper into the penthouse, she couldn't help but feel trapped. She glanced around, noting the luxurious decor, but all she could think about was how far she was from Seto and how alone she felt.
Joanne led her to a sitting area, gesturing for her to take a seat. Kisara hesitated before sitting down, her mind racing with thoughts of escape. She had to find a way to get back to Seto and warn him about whatever Joanne and her father were planning.
As she sat there, trying to formulate a plan, Joanne's phone buzzed with a message. Joanne glanced at it and then at Kisara, her expression unreadable.
"Everything okay?" Kisara asked, trying to sound casual.
"Yes," Joanne replied, her smile returning. "Just some business I need to take care of. You stay here and relax. I'll be back soon."
Kisara watched as Joanne left the room, her mind spinning. She had to get out of there. She waited for Joanne's footsteps to die out and then tried the door. Locked. She reached for her phone, quickly to call Mokuba, hoping he would get it in time.
No network, of course. She signed. This has all been a bad idea, if she could somehow…
But her thoughts were interrupted by a sudden burst out of the door, and a dozen of black-clad men entered.
"Good, very good." a deep, booming voice was heard from the depths of the penthouse. "Seize her!" Kisara fought fruitlessly as two men overpowered her.
"Joanne, search her and take the card."
The card was now in Joanne's hands, who was laughing.
"I cannot believe what a bunch of naive sheep they are!" she giggled.
Kisara screamed in frustration - yes, how could she be so stupid? Kisara's reaction made Joanne laugh even harder.
"There will be enough time for gloating, Joanne," Jonathan said, "Give me the card now, quick. I want to activate it."
Jonathan snatched the card and as soon as he placed it on his duel disk… Nothing happened.
"What is this? Joanne, why is this not working?"
"I… I don't know…" Joanne stuttered, "The scientist guy clearly said that whenever Kaiba activates his card on his duel disk and Kisara is close…"
"Kaiba? When HE activates it?" Jonathan roared, "How could you miss to mention that little detail?"
"I… I though it about activating the card, not the person that… Well, it doesn't matter, he will come!" Joanne yelled, "He will come to save her and we will make him…"
But Johnatan didn't listen to her. "Why is this not working? Maybe the card is fake…"
"It was never about the card."
Joanne and Johnatan spun to face Kisara. "What? What do you mean?" Jonathan snapped.
"It was never about the card," Kisara repeated quietly, her eyes distant. "It is about me. As Ishizu said, it is connected to my emotions. And to my loyalty."
Jonathan sneered. "What kind of nonsense is that?"
Kisara's expression grew pensive. "Only Seto could guide the dragon within me, with or without the card. But now..."
She stopped talking, her thoughts drifting to what she had recently discovered about Kaiba and his secret project. She had trusted him completely, believing that he didn't care about the dragon's power, but her. But he had failed her, and the betrayal cut deep.
Her emotions surged, a mix of anger, hurt, and confusion overwhelming her. She let out a scream, and instinctively, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon materialized by her side, its presence filling the room with a powerful aura. Its eyes glowed with a fierce, otherworldly light. Kisara's eyes glazed over, and she began to fall into a trance, her mind torn between her ancient and modern self. She felt the familiar power coursing through her, wild, untamed energy that both thrilled and terrified her.
Jonathan and Joanne backed away, fear etched on their faces. "What... what is happening?" Jonathan stammered.
Kisara's eyes glowed with a fierce light as she stood beside the dragon. "You don't understand the bond I share with the Blue Eyes. It is not something that can be controlled by force or manipulation. It is a part of me, tied to my heart and my loyalty."
Jonathan tried to regain his composure. "Then we will make Kaiba come to you! He will do anything to save you!"
Kisara shook her head, her resolve strengthening. "You underestimate him. And you underestimate me."
The dragon let out a deafening roar and it began to wreak havoc, destroying everything in its path.
Jonathan's men fled in terror but Joanne stayed, trying to save her father, who was trapped under the rubble. "This is madness! We can't control it! We need to get out of here!" She pulled at the debris frantically, her face pale with fear.
Jonathan, realizing his mistake too late, yelled, "Joanne, get out of here! Save yourself!"
Kisara, her mind a chaotic swirl, raised her hand as the dragon prepared for the final, devastating blow. The building shook as the dragon's power gathered, ready to obliterate everything.
At that moment, Kaiba burst into the penthouse. "Kisara!" he shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos.
