Chapter 3: Sinnoh's First Major City! The Bustling Heart Of Jubilife City!
As the party entered Route 202, Michael quickly caught a Shinx and sent it home.
Twilight - "You think you're gonna catch anymore before your gym battle in Oreburgh City?"
Michael - "To be honest, no. But after the gym battle on the way to Floaroma Town, the catching binge will start back up again."
Kronii - "That's good to hear."
Sana - "I believe Budew can be found on Route 204, right?"
Michael - "That's current Sana. Everything that's new is between Floaroma Town and Eterna City."
Sabrina - "Doesn't Sinnoh have special trees that Pokémon can be found on?"
Twilight - "They do. They're called Honey Trees. And thanks to them, Michael's gonna have an easier time filling up his PokéDex."
Michael - "Sadly, those trees are the only way to find Snorlax's pre-evolved form, Munchlax."
Kronii - "Don't worry Michael. We know you'll catch Munchlax anyway."
Michael - "Thanks for the vote of confidence. Now let's keep moving."
The party then resumed moving north, finally arriving in Jubilife City.
Michael - "Here we are girls. Welcome to Jubilife City."
Sabrina - "Wow. And I thought my home town of Saffron City was big."
Twilight - "Jubilife City is considered to be the entertainment capital of Sinnoh."
Kronii - "Then let's take in the sights while we're here."
Michael - "Good idea. Then we can meet back up at the Pokémon Center for lunch."
Michael and the girls then split up to explore the city. As he took in the sights, Michael noticed a tall man in a brown trench coat.
Michael - "Excuse me sir. Do you need help with something?"
? - "Whaaat?! …How did you know? How did you unmask me as a member of the International Police?!"
Michael facepalmed.
Michael - "Oh you've got to be kidding me… Ok, first off I thought you were someone that needed help with something. And second, you just blew your own cover!"
Shady Man - "…Heh. You only claim that you're making conversation, do you? But, I know better to NOT believe that. No, no, no. you recognized right away that I was someone extraordinary. That's why you spoke to me, isn't it? Your power of observation is very fearsome! Quite admirable, you are! Now that my cover is blown, let me introduce myself. I'm a globe-trotting elite of the International Police. My name… Ah, no, I shall inform you only of my code name. my code name is Looker. It's what they all call me out in the field. Incidentally, is the saying, "Don't be a thief!" familiar to you?"
Michael - "I have heard of that saying numerous times before."
Looker - "Ah, good. Then you are someone that I can trust. Now listen, my friend. It's wrong to take what belongs to others."
Michael - "Now there's something that we can agree on."
Looker - "Sadly, there are those who apparently don't heed them. In fact, across Sinnoh, there are criminals stealing the Pokémon of others."
Michael - "I'm guessing you're talking about Team Galactic then?"
Looker - "You know of them?"
Michael - "I've had a run-in with them once before, but it was a year or so ago."
Looker - "I see. Well then, I've been on the lookout for anyone that's been arousing my suspicion. Incidentally, you are a Trainer, yes?"
Michael - "I am."
Looker - "If you were to see me again, I ask that you don't talk to me since I'm on duty."
Michael - "Of course. But I will have to inform my friends about you when I meet up with them at the Pokémon Center. And don't worry. I'll just tell them that you asked me for directions to a city and that I pointed you on the right path."
Looker - "…Actually, yes, yes, you may speak to me. You must."
Michael - "I'm guessing the change is for any new info on Team Galactic's plans?"
Looker - "That's correct."
Michael - "Very well then. Can I still inform my friends about you by the way?"
Looker - "Yes, you may. Perhaps they may know something that you haven't learned yet."
Looker then dashed off to the north, heading towards Floaroma Town. Meanwhile, Michael continued exploring Jubilife City. He was then approached by a man in a suit.
? - "Oh, oh, oh? You call yourself a Pokémon Trainer? And yet you have no Pokétch?"
Michael - "Pokétch sir?"
? - "That's Pokémon Watch, or Pokétch for short!"
Michael - "Ah, I see it now. Also very clever name if I do say so myself."
? - "Thank you. And oh my, you are a rare case indeed!"
Michael - "How so?"
? - "You see, I have invented, and now manufacture, Pokétches. Not only that, I'm now conducting the Pokétch promotional campaign! All you have to do is find three clowns in Jubilife City. If you can find them… I'll gift you with a Pokétch!"
Michael - "Sounds easy enough. So where do I find you after I get them all?"
? - "In the building to the northwest of the city. Oh. And the name's James."
Michael - "Nice to meet you James."
Michael shook James' hand, then quickly rushed off to find the three clowns. He quickly found the first clown upon looking to his right as he went to the north end of Jubilife City.
Clown #1 - "Hi! I'm a Pokétch campaign clown! Let's roll out my question! Does a Pokémon grow by defeating others and gaining Experience?"
Michael - "That's an obvious yes."
Clown #1 - "Ding-ding! That's absolutely correct! Pokémon grow stronger by defeating other Pokémon in battle. Some Pokémon even grow into an entirely different form in a process known as evolution. Here you go then! Your Pokétch coupon!"
Michael kindly accepted the coupon from the clown.
Michael - "Thank you good sir."
Clown #1 - "Good luck finding the others."
Michael then quickly finds the second clown in front of the city's tv station.
Clown #2 - "Hi! I'm a Pokétch campaign clown! Let's roll out my question! Can a Pokémon hold an item?"
Michael - "Yes."
Clown #2 - "Ding-ding! That's absolutely correct! All Pokémon may hold only a single item. Some items even become effective as soon as the Pokémon holds them. Some items, like berries, are eaten by Pokémon as necessary during battle. Here you go then! Your Pokétch coupon!"
Michael happily took the second coupon from the clown.
Michael - "Thank you good sir."
Clown #2 - "Good luck finding the last clown."
Michael then heads west, finding the last clown in front of a building.
Clown #3 - "Hi! I'm a Pokétch campaign clown! Let's roll out my question! Just like Pokémon types, the moves of Pokémon also have types?"
Michael - "Yes."
Clown #3 - "Ding-ding! That's absolutely correct! If the Pokémon's type matches its move's type, that move is made much more powerful! Here you go then! Your Pokétch coupon!"
Michael happily accepted the third, and final, coupon from the clown.
Michael - "Thank you sir."
Clown #3 - "Congrats on getting them all."
Michael then quickly returned to James.
James - "Ok, let me count your coupons! I'll use the Pokétch here…"
Michael rolls his eyes a bit as James shows off the Pokétch in front of him.
James - "One, two, three! Bravo! I say, bravo! In return for these coupons, I present you this Pokémon watch, or Pokétch for short!"
Michael then happily accepts the Pokétch from James.
James - "There's numerous other apps you can add to your Pokétch to make it even more versatile! Just touch the Pokétch's screen and find which apps are right for you!"
James then returned to his company to work on more apps for the Pokétch. Meanwhile, Michael checked out the current apps on his new Pokétch as he went to join the girls for lunch.
Michael - "Hey girls. I'm guessing you all got a Pokétch too?"
Twilight - "Yes we did. So which apps are your favorites so far?"
Michael - "Mostly just calculator and party checker. Curious to see what future apps the Pokétch will get."
Sana - "I'm also curious to see if Akira can incorporate the apps into our communicators."
Sabrina - "Perhaps she could. With James' ok of course."
Michael - "Then let's be sure to run the idea by her once we reach Lake Valor."
After lunch was over, the party went back to Jubilife City's northern end, then went east, entering Route 203.
