Luz walked back to the Owl house with the biggest grin possible, as she opened the door, she saw Lilith talking to Eda on the sofa.

"Have Luz, did you have a good at school or something?" Eda questioned seeing the smile on Luz's face.

"I did, but I finally asked Amity out and she said yes." Luz said, full of joy. "I'll be upstairs in my room doing my homework if you need me."

"Well, looks like I just won myself forty snails." Eda said holding out her hand.

"I only wagged ten snails, Edalyn." Lilith said, giving Eda tens snails from her pocket.

"You did, but Potter boy bet thirty that Luz would go overboard with her confession and mess up." Eda said, putting the ten snails away. "You made the bet that Amity would ask Luz out first."

"Yes, and I've been training Amity, so I figured she'd ask first." Lilith said, pinching the bridge of her nose. "She even asked for advice in facing the one you like."

"She might be good, but you need to remember she was her for a mother and two siblings that can't always help her." Eda explained. "Speaking of which, how is that woman still not behind bars? I know I'm a wild Witch, but that woman once tried to sell objects to pirates in exchange for mermaid scales, She's nothing but trouble."

"Truth be told we've put her on the back burner for now." Lilith admitted. "With the sighting of the mermaid near your home we sent out a few scouts to watch the sea and found a few other mermaids combing the beaches looking for something or watching the land." Lilith reached for the apple blood bottle, but Eda stopped her and offered her something a bit stronger to help her relax a bit. "We think that mermaids might be trying to reconnect with us and come out of hiding, but that might all change if we can't catch these pirates."

"Hey, you'll get through this." Eda reassured her. "We Clawthorns don't know the means of giving up on what we wish to protect. You didn't give up on saving me at times, so don't sell yourself short yet." Just then Eda took a bottle of Elixir out from the sofa and drank it. "I really hate these things."

Lilith immediately thought about Eda's curse and what she had done, wanting nothing more than to come clean to Eda about it. But the thought of losing her only sister frightened her more than anything.

"Hey Lilith, you don't need to worry about me so much," Eda said, seeing the worried look Lilith was making. "I've my elixirs and Luz thinks there might be a glyph combo that can cure me. She already found one that stores magic in objects so that you can use them later." Eda then showed Lilith her ring that had an engravement on it. "What's even better is that I can store a little magic in an instant then have it for later, even others can store magic into them so that I can use them for later. The best part is my curse doesn't affect it all. Only downside is I'm limited to the type of magic I can use it for." Eda then took the ring off and handed it to Lilith. "You mind adding on to it for me, I need a fire spell in it."

"And Luz found this for you." Lilith said taking in one hand and making a spell circle in the other the next moment her magic was being absorbed by the ring, but it wasn't hurting her. "This is extraordinary." After about half an hour of channeling magic to the ring she gave Eda the ring back.

"Yeah, Luz is becoming more of a witch each day." Eda said, putting the ring back on. "She's learning at a rate even I'm impressed with. She just might take the title of most powerful witch on the Boiling Iles someday."

"Our students are growing up." Lilith said calmly looking up at the ceiling. "We guided them the best we could, now they need to do the rest." Lilith got up from the sofa and walked over to the door then looked back at Eda, "By the way I wanted to ask, did you have any more information about the mermaid you saw. I need to make sure if we see them, we warn them."

"Sorry Lily, can't help you there." Eda said, picking up the apple blood.

"Eda if you are hiding something important then I need…" Lilith started.

"It's not that I don't want to tell you but It's not my place to tell you." Eda interrupted walking up to Lilith. "Everyone has secrets Lily and it's not the place of another to tell them. I'm sorry."

"I'll take your words as you know where the mermaid is, but they want to live a normal life." Lilith guessed. Eda then looked at Lilith with a look that just screamed what do you think. "Okay then, hopefully since they've been under our nose this long, they can stay hidden from the hunters too. But please if something happens…."

"Don't worry, I know who I can call to help." Eda finished for Lilith. "Try to get some sleep by the way. You're no good to anyone when you're tired."

"Take care Edalyn." Lilith said leave the house.

Lilith flew back to the castle thinking she should take Eda's advice and get some sleep before she passed out at the wrong moment. Once she lands a guard coming running up to her looking like they had been running all day.

"Lilith, you've been summoned to the throne room by the Emperor." The guard said panting.

"Great, now what?" Lilith complained, rubbing her head. Lilith walked to the throne then yawned, starting to feel her exhaustion kicking in. "Come one Lilith just get through this then go to bed and get some sleep." Lilith walked through the door to see both Hunter and Kikimora were already there along with some of the Coven heads. A single thought went through Lilith's head, "What in the world is going on."

"Greetings Lilith glad you could make it." Belos said. "Now we can start, the other covens are too busy at the moment so we will be telling them another time."

"Has something happened?" the Abomination Coven head asked.

"Yes, we have sightings of mermaids coming in more and more." Belos explained, then looked at Lilith. "It also seems that one is closer than we knew."

Lilith looked up to see the Emperor was looking at her and said, "My sister knows of the mermaid, but it seems they want to continue to live their life in peace."

"That seems kind of hard since the mermaid is her own student. The human brat." Hunter spat.

"What are you talking about?" Lilith questioned glaring at the Golden Guard. "Eda's student is human last time I checked, and mermaids can't leave the water until they turn over fourty or they cast a spell to get rid of their tail permanently. That girl is barely a teenager."

"Yes, and a guard came back to tell us that he saw her jump into some water and gain a mermaid tail." Hunter explained growing annoyed. "Did you plan to hide this?"

"Are you accusing me of something boy?" Lilith growled.

ENOUGH!" Belos shouted. "I DID NOT CALL YOU HERE YOU TWO ARGUE."

"Sorry Emperor Belos." both Lilith and Hunter said in unison.

"This information that the scout gave us. Can we trust it? Not many of the scouts even know what the human looks like." the Bard Coven head questioned. "It could have easily been an illusion for all we know. Most children dream of meeting a mermaid who's to say some won't try to pretend to be one."

"I hate to say it, but the Bard Coven head has a point." The plant coven head agreed. "How do we know the scout saw what he saw. We might need to bring the human here to see for ourselves."

Lilith's heart sank at the thought of what some of the coven heads would do if they were in charge of getting Luz and she quickly shouted, "Emperor Belos please allow me to be the one to bring her. Eda is my sister and her mentor, if anyone else were to go it might start a fight and if she is a mermaid that would be putting her in even more danger."

"I'm sure I can handle the task." Hunter said stepping forward.

"Last time I checked the human hates you the most." The Abomination Coven head claimed. "I think Lilith might be the best bet to talk to the girl without a fight starting."

"I agree." The Bard Coven head quickly said.

"Alright Lilith tomorrow I want you to go and see if you can't find evidence that the human is a mermaid." Belos ordered. "If she is then we will offer her safety, if not then see if your sister will not at least talk to the mermaid and see if they will meet with us."

"Understood." Lilith said leaving the room. As she passed the Abomination coven head, and the Bard coven head then thanked them for the support.

"Tell Eda I said hi." The bard Coven head whispered.

"I will Raine." Lilith replied. Lilith walked back to her room then immediately fell on to the bed and allowed sleep to take over.
