Chapter 1 "So much for a Peaceful Vacation"
It started off as a normal Summer Break. His parents picked him up at the Platform of 9 3/4 King cross station minus the Avenger Family. Harry was grateful that everyone was too busy to pick him up, which meant a quieter good-bye to his friends. Now he was sitting on the STARK Privet jet heading to some Shield Base who knows where to spend the summer with Aunt Natasha. Tony said that it was just going be a camping trip for just the two of them.
"Why am I going camping on Midgard? Shouldn't I be training at home or in Asgard?" Harry asked as he played a game of chess with his father to pass the time. He knew Loki was not a fan of the game but played with him because he knew Harry loved the game.
"Well Buddy, we all wanted to take you for Summer Break; you know have a little fun in the sun. You had a rough year with that Tri-wizard crap and just on the heels of the Realm games. Well let's just say you need a vacation. As for camping, well turns out Uncle Eye-Patch gave us our marching orders and he agrees that you need a break but the rest of us are fit for duty. Red was the only one with extra vacation days saved up. Now I know she has been keeping you updated about the Mandarin situation against our wishes," Tony sighed.
"Anthony, do not dwell on the past." Loki cut his husband off before he got worked up again. "Lady Natasha had her reasons and she was correct in order to keep our son safe. Haraldr, we will be tracking Mandarin down and it might take the summer to do it. The man of Fury has received information that is time sensitive and requires us to follow it, less they go into hiding once again. Now the good Captain and Agent Barton will be joining us on this mission leaving you with The Widow. The Man of Winter and Agent Coulson will be at the Shield Base running leads that have been coming in."
"So that is why you asked me to send Shadow to Godfather Jareth. Muggles are not allowed see magical creatures even if we are out camping." Harry nodded putting his father in check.
"Yes, it was also decided that you should stay on Midgard instead of going to Asgard. While I trust my Mother to watch you she has been called to Vanaheim for a family emergency. Odin is busy with his duties since he took time to attend your Games Ending task so that left Thor but he was dispatched to deal with potential threats from outside the realms. Checkmate."
"Father, I don't need a babysitter I am going to be fifteen. I am hardly a child anymore." Harry glared at the chess board as if it had just betrayed him. For someone who dislikes the game of chess his father took great pleasure into beating him over and over again. This was their seventh game and the elder god didn't bother to hide his smug expression.
"Hare-bear you'll always be our kid even when you're in you thousands. Just ask your Father, his Mother still babies him when ever he goes home to Asgard." Tony said giving Loki his own smirk which was returned with a glare.
"Be that as it may, the point is you are centuries from being independent enough fight off any known or unknown threats on your own."
"Fine, but why go Camping?"
"The Widow has roots there and being out of sight will offer you protection from Mandarin. As long as you stay with her and follow her rules you'll be fine." Loki said finishing off his tea.
"Since you'll primarily be in a non-magic zone you'll have to leave all your Magic Stuff on the Plane. Friday said she scanned all your text books so you'll still be able to study and do you homework."
"What about my clothes and tech studies? " Harry did not like that he was going to be practically defenseless.
"No-worries my Mini-Me; Your Father packed you a backpack full of clothes and you have your credit card and debit card. Never hurts to have cash on hand if you need more stuff and I left an upgraded suit for you at the Shield base where your Uncle Agent is going to be. Now the suit is to be used for emergencies only. That's why I asked for you gloves, I have been adding the remote controls to them so you could call the suit to you where ever you are." The elder Stark handed the bracelets that became nano-gloves back to his son. "But if you get bored I'm sure you can take apart the Quinjet or one of their many cpu systems."
"Thanks Dad." Harry rolled his eyes placing his bracelets back on his wrist.
"Sirs, we are about to land at The SHEILD Base. I suggest you all fasten your seat belts."
"Thank you Jarvis." Loki said waving the chess board away with his magic and buckling up family.
The landing went smoothly and they disembarked to the sight of Director Fury, the Black Widow, Captain America, and an army of Shield agents. Tony was annoyed at this and Loki's posture became stiff at the reception. Harry rolled his eyes because these threat assessments done by the world council were getting annoying.
"Hi Director Fury, it's good to see you again." Harry signed. Since they were in front of a lot of Shield troops it didn't hurt to act professional.
"You too, Stark Jr. I see that the trip wasn't bad considering you had a privet jet." Fury greeted. "Stark couldn't you have painted something other than red? You are practically begging to be shot out the sky."
"It is my belief that Anthony does not believe there are other colors in existence." Loki rolled his eyes then turned to Harry hold out his hand. When Harry just stared back he lifted an eyebrow at the boy's stubbornness. Harry huffed then handed over his wand that he had hidden up his sleeve out of sight or so he thought. "And the sling ring."
"Hare-bare you can't hide anything from your father." Tony laughed as Harry pulled the ring from his pocket.
"Thanks for the reminder Dad." Harry signed, then turned to Loki who was still scrutinizing him. "I don't have anything else! You got all my school stuff and what I had planned to sneak on the trip. So I am completely non-magi now."
"Very well then you may go with your Aunt now, we will see you in August before school starts." Loki sighed then hugged his son tightly. It was going to be a long summer without him with them. How much more will the boy grow in his absence? He was already about as tall as the widow without her heels maybe a bit taller. He was growing too fast and he felt like he was missing it.
"Let me have a turn Lokes. Come here Hare-Bare, I'm going to miss you so much and our flying trips together."
"You mean the ones where we fly our suits to the donut shop and eat them in the giant Donut?"
"Stark…"
"It's nothing Eye-Patch just dad and son bonding time." Tony said over his shoulder. "I told you not to tell uncle Popeye he's cranky about his super hero's snack time."
"Probably because what you are doing is illegal. Come along Anthony the Good Captain is waiting for us and Lady Natasha is waiting for Haraldr." Loki reminded them gently even though he did not want to end the good-bye either.
"Yeah you're right. Why don't you give Captain Spangles a hug good-bye before we take off, he won't see you for awhile either." The genius gave the young prince a little nudge and Harry went running to Rogers and jumped in his arms. He had missed Steve a lot this year and hadn't really seen him expect for the night of the last task as Steve was helping protect the muggles and met up with everyone after it was over.
"Hey Kiddo, sorry I can't go with you. But don't worry you me and Bucky will have a Movie Marathon when you get back. We'll lock every one out and turn off all communications so no one will bother us for the next 72 hours. How does that sound?" Steve scooped Harry up in a big bear hug. He missed his godson and had been worried like hell during those tasks not knowing if Harry was alright.
"Yes, that sounds great and let's get Bucky to make his BBQ ribs!" Harry signed with a huge smile on his face.
"You got it. Now you go with Nat and we'll see you soon." The Super Soldier reluctantly set the boy down and watched him walk to the red head. "Come Tony, Loki we need to head out ourselves."
The three men walked to a near by Quinjet as Harry stood with his Aunt and Uncle Nick along with an army of shield agents watching them take off.
"Well Romanoff you got Harry duty so here you are. I have to warn you though General Ross has been kicking up the dirt around the Capital about getting the avengers disbanded among other things He's been trying to interfere with communications trying to trip up agents and using Federal arrest warrants to bring down SHIELD and possibly the Avengers, so watch your back." Nick warned the two in whispered tones as not to be over heard by any of the troops behind them. He didn't know who was a double agent for Ross.
"Yes sir. Come on Harry my car is this way." Natasha nodded her head to the open hanger where here Beat up looking SUV was parked and motion for Harry to follow. There was underlining feel of warning of what was to come that summer. It might not be as peaceful as they had planned it to be.

After a five hour plane ride and then a Four hour drive later they arrived at a trailer in the middle of the forest of Norway. Harry smiled as the air felt open and free and eagerly grabbed his rucksack from the back seat and jumped out of the car. It was amazing and magical in a way that only nature could make it. Natasha watched the happiness wash over her little brother's face. This would be good for Harry to get away from everything. No training and no more cloak and dagger drama at that school. Personally she also needed a break. During the past year Barnes told her that the Creator of the Red Room was still alive. He promised that the Team would go after them but first they needed Intel. So she had to wait for justice and to wipe the red from her ledger.
Years ago Natasha was once part of a mission to gather secrets while uncover as a typical American Family. They were lived in Ohio where they were surrounded by Trees just like here and it was a moment of peace for the first time in her life. It did last and their cover was blown and they had to escape. She still dreams of that night and how she and her sister were torn from each other and forced to become killers. Maybe there was still hope that she could save Yelena if she was still alive.
The two entered the trailer and checked out the accommodations and found a guy sleeping in the master bed. Natasha rolled her eyes before kicking the foot of the sleeping intruder. "Have a nice nap? Why are you sleeping in my bed?"
"About time you got here. I fell asleep waiting for you to get here. Who is the kid?"
"Mason this is Harry my nephew but more like a little brother. Harry this is my go to guy Mason. He can get me stuff that Uncle Nick says is not in the budget. So did you get what I needed?"
"Just call me the Amazon of the spy world. I got you enough food for two for at least a week or two and there's generator runs on petrol as well as passports with twenty different ids ten for each of you. It's just a twenty minute drive into town for food and to take out the rubbish."
"Hey what's this?" Harry asked as he picked a box by the door.
"Oh that is mail that, your Aunt, has let pile up at an old safe house."
"Really which one?" Natasha asked curious.
"Budapest."
"You should have just thrown it out." Natasha sighed before waving Mason off.
"Well you can toss it when you take out the rubbish. Call if you need anything else." Mason waved as he went to his car leaving the two alone.
"Come on Harry, let's unload and get settled because tomorrow we start your survival training." Natasha watched as Harry shoulders slumped knowing that she was going to work him to the bone.
After unloading the car and setting up in the trailer Harry whipped up a beef stew for dinner and they both ate in front of the TV watching Casablanca an old black and white film. Harry thought it was funny how his aunt had memorized the movie and would voice along with the movie.
"This is good practice for the field kid." Natasha ruffled his hair and smiled at his laughing face. "Plus its fun to use Pop-culture to keep up with Tony's jabs." Just then the power started to flicker and then went out.
"Looks like the generator is out, I'll go fix it Aunt Tasha." Harry signed with his translating gloves.
"You do that and I'll clean up dinner." Natasha agreed knowing that Harry was more than capable in fixing it just like Tony.
Harry checked out the generator and went over it looking for any problem. It turned out that the problem was just that it was out of gas. He also noticed that Mason was lazy and didn't fill up the gas can. So the two of them packed up the trash and gas can in to the car and they headed in to town for more gas.
"Are we near where you grew up? You look nostalgic." Harry asked.
"Well it looks like it but nowhere near Ohio from here." The red head laughed. It was a two year mission and it was the only time I felt like I had a family until you came along маленький брат."
"Really? What was it like?"
"Well I had a little Sister, her name was Yelena. We had an older Widow Agent, who had posed as our mother and her name was Melina. Then there was our father figure agent, Alexei, who was Russian version for a Super Soldier. They called him the Red Guardian the hero of the Soviet Union before it was broke up into different states. It was nice for awhile and it felt like we were a real family but I always knew it wasn't permanent. I tried not to get too close to anyone but that was impossible because Yelena was so young and needed me more than anyone. Then the night came when we had to bug out. It was hard and I really didn't want to go but we had to as our cover had been blown. We barely had started dinner when my dad told us it was time to go on a new adventure. That was code for the mission was complete and we needed to get out now. We barely had time to get any personal items Yelena didn't ever get her shoes as the Police were about to raid our house." Natasha seemed to get lost in her memories as they drove along the dark empty road.
"We drove to an abandon farm where our little plane was hidden for our extraction. We thought that we were in the clear but just as we were getting the plane ready the police started flooding into the field and Alexei was forced to show his strength and flip over some heavy farm equipment to delay them. We were fired upon and Melina took a hit and I was forced to fly the plane and take off from the field. Alexei then took over once we were in the sky and I ended to Melina. We flew until daylight where we met up the Aircraft carrier that was our meeting point. After that Yelena and I were re-entered in the Black Widow Program at the red Room."
"That had to be intense. What happened to your sister?"
"Well we…" Suddenly they were rammed from the passenger side. Their car had been hit by what was probably a mini rocket or they ran over a land mine, sending them rolling down the road. Their SUV managed to land right side up but was half hanging off the bridge. "What the hell?"
"I guess someone wanted us off the road." Harry signed shakily as he looked over at his Aunt looking for injuries.
"Harry, are you okay?" There was a tremor in the Spy's voice for the shock of being caught off guard.
"Yes." Harry was so glad that he was only half human that could have killed a mortal teenaged kid. "How about you?"
"Yeah, I'm good. I knew Ross hated up but this is a little extreme. Get out we'll sort this out but be on guard."
"Understood."
They had to be very careful not to tip the car over into the river as they made their escape. They slowly made their way to towards the Jeep that had stopped just about ten feet away from them and a masked figure had gotten out and was walking towards them. Harry kept behind Natasha hiding his frame while slowly creating and Ice dagger in his hand.
"I'm pretty sure that Ross has no jurisdiction here!" The figure kept walking forward but said nothing. Nat pulled the gun from her back and aimed it at the figure. "You should know I'm a better shot when I'm pissed off."
The enemy kept coming closer still silent so The Widow shot at him only to be blocked by a shield that looked like it was made of Vibranium but that was impossible, wasn't it? Harry wasted no time throwing his ice daggers at the masked man, but they too were blocked by the shield. Both of them dodged as the shield came flying at them. When they looked up the masked guy was gone but then they heard something land on the crashed car behind them.
Harry threw another dagger at the guy but he dodged by flipping over them and Nat tried to attack. The fight was even in skill level and the guy was fighting both of them with ease and somewhat mimicking their movements. At one point all them were at a stand off and then Harry noticed that the Mask their attacker was wearing was scanning them. Then the Guy looked around them ignoring them as they searched the scene for something.
"You're not after us; are you?" Natasha zeroed in on what the enemy wanted it was a small black case that had fallen from the basket of junk mail. The basket must have been thrown from the car when they were hit. "Harry The Case!"
The teen understood and went for the target, but he wasn't fast enough. Harry began to fight with the masked man once again trying to retrieve the black case. The Jotun Prince use his powers to make the enemy slide on the ice formed beneath their feet. Nat was able to get the case in that brief moment while Harry took the guy to the ground but not out. Harry was then thrown off the bridge into the freezing river.
"You made a huge mistake." The Black Widow hissed and began to fight twice as hard but she too went flying off the bridge after the black case was ripped from her hand. Both Avenger family members were swept away in the strong currents of the river. Harry managed to catch his Aunt as the water pulled them along and he then use his magic whip that Dr. Strange had taught him to grab a near by tree and pull the both of them to safety.
"Are you alright?" Natasha asked coughing up the water that had filled her lungs. Harry just nodded coughing up some water as well. Seeing that The boy was okay she pulled the vials she took from the black case. There were at least thirty vials all glowing red and bound together. Harry watched his Aunt pull out a strip if paper from its center and stare at it. What he could make out was that it was a strip of old photo paper, the kind you get in one of those carnival photo booths. It was a picture of two young girls smiling and looking happy. The pictures were faded and in the dark he couldn't see if he knew who they were.
"Oh Shit." It seemed that The Black widow knew who they were.
"What is it? What does it mean?"
"It's a ghost from the past and it means we're going to Budapest."
A/N: Okay so here is the first chapter done. This is a short story so chapters won't be that long word wise. I estimate that this story will be maybe three to four chapters long at most five. I am working on COS but I have been a bit busy undergoing treatments from my doctor again. It's nothing too serious just need a boost to keep me healing. Things are on a roll and the Plot bunnies are hopping. So thanks for Reading and keep Reviewing the Plot Bunnies need food or Black Widow-bun won't be happy.
