In this chapter, our heroes (and villains) will have a musical!
You remember this episode, right? It's one of my favorites. Though I do enjoy Season 3 for the most part.
Another is Disvengers. But that's not coming for a while. I am looking forward to writing that though, I can tell you that much.
I got 666 words writing this chapter. Is Kristal the devil?
Or is her father the devil? I dunno.
In a twist of irony, I found an AU where Rosa Maria was on the magenta team. Do great minds think alike? I think they do.
Just for the record I don't hate Jake though I wouldn't mind if he didn't make it as far as he did in both seasons. He's a bit like Owen from Total Drama. Though Jake does have more characterization at least.
Chapter 6: Disventure Musical
"In the last episode, the contestants participated in a triathlon. The cyan team scored last place and Jake got the boot." spoke Kristal.
It was strange that the four campers that had done so well in their respective seasons had been eliminated so fast.
This season was proving itself to be crazy.
After the intro music, Kristal told everyone what the challenge was going to be.
"Good afternoon, campers! Tonight we will be having a musical challenge!" exclaimed Kristal.
"A musical challenge?" asked Rosa Maria.
This would be a good way to express themselves. Perhaps this challenge was a good idea.
Ellie showed her team the song that her team had in mind.
It was called Piggyback. Though it did not involve pigs. Gabby wouldn't mind though.
"At the end the couples will have a romantic kiss! And yes, it will be a LGBT song." explained Ellie.
"I'm not sure if Jake will appreciate me kissing Aiden." noted Tom. Even if Jake was working on his envy issues.
Tess decided to ask Kristal if she could have an intern lend them a hand.
Her logic being that they had one less teammate than the other two teams.
"Kristal, can we have an intern help us? I figured it would be fair." noted Tess. That way they wouldn't have a numbers disadvantage.
"You can, but Derek and Trevor are busy writing an apology letter to PETA for all the trouble they caused." agreed Kristal. So she wouldn't be able to recruit them.
They certainly weren't going to do what they did again. Especially after they had served prison time for it.
Jensen was lucky enough to evade capture, but living the life of a fugitive did not sound like fun. Who would enjoy the life of being hunted? It would be like Jurassic Park…after the velociraptors had escaped.
"If Derek and Trevor can't participate, then who's left…" spoke Tess.
She then noticed Oliver.
"Hey, Oliver! How are you?" asked the gothic girl.
"Hey!" exclaimed Oliver.
"Would you like to help us play a song?" questioned Tess.
Oliver nodded.
It would be nice participating in a challenge instead of testing it.
That was safer…most of the time.
"Thanks." spoke Tess.
Hunter showed his teammates the song that he had planned.
It seemed he had used the opportunity to vent his frustrations with his girlfriend Ally.
But not all of his teammates agreed with the song. Hopefully too many cooks did not spoil the broth.
"I don't know, this song seems kind of mean-spirited to me." noted Rosa Maria.
Her choice of song was more along the lines of what Cyan Team had planned, coincidentally.
"Well, it's not something I would normally sing." spoke Ashley. She shared similar tastes to Rosa regarding music.
Also, her relationship with Will was not toxic at all. The last thing Will needed considering how fearful he was was to be in an abusive relationship.
"Mm-hmm." nodded Rosa Maria.
"They didn't tell me we would be having a musical challenge." spoke Fiore.
"Life is full of surprises." noted Tess.
Fiore pouted.
"I'm sure there's at least one instrument you'd like to play." suggested Rosa Maria.
Fiore sighed.
"Let's get this over with." noted the girl.
She decided to search for some instruments.
There were a lot to choose from.
Why exactly had so much money gone into this challenge?
She hoped this didn't mean that the next challenges would be crummy (assuming she wasn't voted off tonight), though she thought a musical challenge was a lousy idea to begin with.
Fiore eventually came across an electric piano.
"What's this?" asked Fiore.
She decided to give it a try.
"Huh, I actually kind of like this." said the young girl.
Perhaps this challenge wouldn't be so bad.
Though if they scored last place, she just might throw a temper tantrum. She would have practiced for nothing.
At Rosa Maria's suggestion, the team made small changes to the song.
That way Ally would find it less offensive.
The yellow team decided to play heavy rock.
However, Riya decided to do something rather reckless.
She decided she would use a lot of electricity for the challenge.
Her teammates had warned her that overusing the electricity would have consequences…
…but she did not listen.
At night, the campers began to sing and play their instruments.
The cyan team played "Piggyback".
The song was rather sweet.
Though for whatever reason, both couples were LGBT. That was a bit unusual considering the majority of the population were heterosexual.
But if it taught people that love was love, why not support the song?
Jake had suffered from homophobia, after all. He likely wouldn't mind the song.
Or at least he wouldn't mind it if Tom and Aiden hadn't hugged.
He couldn't help but feel a tad jealous. But at least they hadn't kissed or he would be really mad.
Derek and Trevor applauded. And yes, they had finished writing their apology letter. They had put a lot of thought into it.
Confessional: This little piggy is LGBT!
Tom: I hope Jake doesn't object to the song. I had to negotiate with Ellie.
Ellie: I would have liked to see the look on Jake's face. But hey, he's eliminated. Why complain about that?
Gabby: This song was awesome! I really got to express myself!
Trevor: Personally I would have liked to perform that song with Derek.
Derek: It's good to know that I'm not the only one here who's LGBT. It sure is a surprising amount though.
The magenta team played "Born to Drive Me Crazy."
"Born to drive me crazy and I can see!" exclaimed Fiore.
"Are you sure you're not already crazy?" asked Ashley.
Fiore scowled.
"Very funny." answered the youngest Disventure Camp contestant in the show's run.
A lot of audience members got a laugh out of that one. Mainly the Season 1 ones.
The band completed their performance.
"You did great, Fiore!" exclaimed Rosa Maria.
"Really?" asked Fiore. She only started playing the instrument a few hours ago.
It seemed she was a natural.
Rosa Maria nodded.
"I just hope my parents don't make me a child actress." said the girl. As if they weren't bad enough already. And weren't the already basically using her to earn money? Granted, she went along with winning the prize money willingly but still.
"Being a child actor isn't always dangerous. Mila Kunis was a child actor and she turned out fine. Though your parents shouldn't force you to do something you don't want to do." spoke Rosa Maria.
Fiore nodded.
Ally was watching the musical on TV.
"For a moment I felt like kicking Hunter's ass…but I changed my mind." said Ally.
Perhaps he was a good boyfriend.
And perhaps she could make some changes to her personality.
She could see Hunter's logic…after a while.
Though she wondered if Rosa Maria had changed the lyrics a tad.
Before it was "Everything I hate about you." Now it was "Everything that annoys me about you."
Confessional: Ironically Piggyback was about minds going crazy.
Rosa Maria: I have to admit, our song turned out a lot differently from the Cyan Team. I still say we did a good job though.
Fiore: I actually wouldn't mind another musical challenge. At least it would be something I'm good at.
Oliver: I'm glad I could be helpful to Magenta Team. Even if I'm not actually a contestant.
Tess: I wonder why Oliver was voted off first. He did well during this challenge. If I win, I'll make sure to give him some of the money. Though given that I'm not on this show for money I probably won't win.
The yellow team performed "No Matter How Hard We Try."
Alec's fangirls were most likely happy to see him shirtless.
"Living the moment before I die!" exclaimed Connor.
"Don't die on us, Connor!" shouted Oliver. People loved him.
And besides, he was the head of a corporation. Who could replace someone like him?
"I didn't mean it literally!" answered the man.
But during the performance, something went wrong.
The team had used too much electricity for the performance.
And it had ended up having serious consequences.
The curtains ended up setting on fire. Where was the fire extinguisher? Hopefully they could afford one. Or had they fallen victim to budget cuts?
"Alec!" shouted Fiore, her eyes widening with fear.
Alec was surprised to hear that Fiore still cared.
It was a pleasant surprise though.
A spotlight fell on Yul's foot.
It seemed today was not his lucky day.
Or should we say tonight was not his lucky night?
Either way, things hadn't gone well for his team either.
"My foot!" exclaimed Yul, as he clutched his injured foot.
It looked like he was going to need an ice pack.
Aiden laughed at Yul's expense.
"You alright?" asked Grett.
"I'm a cartoon character, so yes!" exclaimed Yul. If he wasn't, he might not be able to compete any further.
Why did he fall victim to slapstick comedy? He would so prefer it if it happened to someone who was gay…like Tom, for instance.
But since this show was LGBT-friendly, that most likely wasn't going to happen. Tough luck, Yul.
Krisfal was not happy with this turn of events. At all. If she had known the yellow team would be so reckless, she probably wouldn't have banded them together.
"Do you know how much these instruments cost? Consider yourselves the losers of this challenge!" exclaimed Kristal.
Who would have thought one team would cause so much destruction?
Granted, four of the five members were part of a villains alliance, but still.
The magenta team and cyan team were pleased to know that they had escaped elimination this time. They had worked hard on their music, after all.
"As for the other two teams, you won't get a reward, but you're safe from elimination." noted the hostess.
"Is it because you can't afford it due to the damages?" asked Rosa Maria.
"Yes." nodded Kristal. That was exactly right.
"Maybe we should have a talk with the yellow team." noted Gabby. She would have liked a reward. Maybe she could have a recording of the music?
But hey, her team wouldn't have to vote anyone off.
"Also, you'll have to help Trevor clean up this mess." said Kristal to the yellow team.
"I want to make it up to you, so sure." agreed Connor. He felt that Riya was responsible but he decided not to play the blame game.
"No way! I'm not doing that!" exclaimed Yul.
"Fine. But no chance to win three million dollars." answered the hostess.
Yul groaned. It looked like he had no choice if he wanted to stay in the game.
Aiden once again laughed at his expense.
"It looks like we'll no longer be at a number disadvantage." noted Aiden. That should make completing challenges easier. Though Oliver had helped them with this one.
"That's a relief." acknowledged Ellie. She wasn't sure that they could handle losing twice in a row. If they weren't careful they could end up being wiped out before the merge. Then they would go down in Disventure Camp history as the worst team ever.
"I hope Alec doesn't get voted off." noted Fiore. She was grateful that her team didn't lose but Alec did not have that fortune.
But considering the villains alliance he made, he probably didn't have anything to worry about and neither did she. The villains alliance wouldn't betray each other, right?
Well, she wouldn't be surprised if they did it eventually. A heroes' alliance would likely be more stable.
Confessional: Riya has nobody to blame but herself.
Riya: Am I going to get voted off? Nah, I'll be fine. I'm in an alliance.
Ellie: It looks like the yellow team couldn't win the challenge no matter how hard they tried.
Connor: What was Riya thinking?
Yul: Damn it, Riya! If I weren't in an alliance with her I'd be voting her off for sure!
After cleaning up the mess, the Yellow Team reported for elimination.
They were feeling rather tired from all that work, so they decided they would cast their votes quickly.
Luckily, they came to a consensus as to who to vote for.
However, it was not Riya.
Her hunch turned out to be right.
As it turned out, Connor had been chosen to be voted off, as he was the only one not in the villains alliance.
"Connor. That's three votes and that's enough."
Yul snickered as soon as he realized who was going to the motel.
"I seem to have trouble with this game." noted Connor. He wasn't doing well. Both times he had been eliminated rather early. Was he never going to make it to the merge? He wasn't sure if he would be on this show three different times.
Though to be fair, things might have been different if he had been assigned to a different team than Yul. Yul was not the type of guy to respect his elders.
Of course, he wasn't that old but it didn't matter to Yul.
Kristal theorized as to why Connor didn't do well.
"Perhaps it's because you're already rich. But I'm sure the other voteoffs will be happy to see you." noted Kristal. He was a good man.
She imagined the contestants generally thought the money should go to someone who needed it.
"I would imagine." spoke the man.
Though to be fair, two of the contestants who were already at the motel hadn't been in the same season as him.
Confessional: What an unfair elimination.
Alec (Vote: Connor): It's a shame he had to go. But I won't betray my alliance.
Riya (Vote: Connor) I feel bad for voting him off but who else could I vote for? Though Yul is annoying.
Connor (Vote: Yul) Maybe I should have considered making an alliance myself. Well, I won't beat myself about it.
Yul (Vote: Connor) We got rid of more dead weight! Nice!
Grett (Vote: Connor) I feel like Riya should be the one going, but if she's willing to vote with me I think I should stay on her good side.
Kristal: Connor's words during the song were oddly prophetic.
Magenta Team: Tess, Hunter, Ashley, Fiore, Rosa Maria
Yellow Team: Yul, Grett, Alec, Riya
Cyan Team: Ellie, Gabby, Tom, Aiden
Voted Off: Miriam, James, Ally, Jake, Connor
Being the helpful man he was, Connor agreed to clean up the mess.
There wasn't a money reward, of course, but he figured that he would be nice.
Yeah…I decided not to deviate from canon this one. Probably because I consider Yellow Team's failure in this episode to be kind of funny.
Connor might not be coming back though, like he did in the show. I'm not saying who the final 4 are in canon, but since people have complaints about it I'll see if I can go with a different cast.
Well, I did deviate from canon a bit by explaining why Fiore was happy to play when earlier she was not. That was a small plot hole. But I patched it.
In the next chapter, we'll see if Fiore finishes in the same position as she did in the last season.
