Chapter Six

The First Day of U.A. (Pre-Edited Version)

Midoriya Residence - Izuku's Bedroom

As he donned his U.A. High uniform, slightly modified with a green tie instead of a red one, Izuku couldn't help but notice just how surreal it all felt. Not only had he managed to get into his dream school in the Hero Course no less, but he'd actually placed first on the practical exam. Admittedly, it felt extremely satisfying to have finally beaten Kaachan at something, but at the same time, it was somewhat worrying to hear what sounded like a scream of rage and an explosion coming from the direction of Auntie Mitsuki and Uncle Masaro's house. Still, it was nice to know that the U.A. staff seemed to think he had the potential to surpass his childhood friend-turned-bully, considering how amazing he'd often said Kaachan was… then again, considering he no longer feared Kaachan and what he could do to him with his Quirk, maybe he wasn't as amazing as he once thought. Still, he had managed to get into U.A. like he had, so maybe he shouldn't write him off so quickly.

Izuku took a look at himself in his bedroom mirror and smiled. He looked good in U.A.'s uniform. However, there was still one last thing he needed to take care of before he set out for the train station to catch a ride to school.

Izuku raised his Power Ring to his mouth. "Ring, power levels?" the green haired teen asked.

"Ring charge at seventy-two percent," the green ring replied.

'Hmm… suppose it could do with a recharge,' thought Izuku before he made his way over to his bedroom desk and opened a small side cupboard, within which was his Power Battery. Izuku knelt down and placed his ring against the front of the Power Battery, where the light from a regular lantern would be.

"In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil will escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's Light," Izuku recited as a steady flow of green energy entered his ring.

"Power levels at one hundred percent," the ring said as Izuku got up and took one last look at himself in the mirror.

'All right. Time to begin the first day of the next three years of my life,' thought Izuku before he left for the train station.

U.A. High School - Class 1-A - An Hour Later

To Izuku's admittedly lack of surprise, when he walked into his classroom, Tenya Iida was getting on Kaachan's case about having his feet up on his desk, and was promptly subjected to one of Kaachan's casual death threats.

"That's reprehensible!" Tenya exclaimed. "Are you sure you want to be a hero with that kind of attitude?"

"Shut the hell up, Four-Eyes, before I put you in your place!" snarled Bakugou.

Tenya opened his mouth to argue some more before Izuku spoke up. "Don't bother, Iida. One thing you'll learn real quick about Kaachan is that he does what he wants, which is usually the most aggressive option even if innocent people could potentially get hurt real bad," he said, causing Tenya to look at him.

"Ah, Midoriya, right?" said Tenya. "I must commend you again for realizing what the correct course of action when Uraraka was being threatened by the Zero-Pointer."

'So, the nice girl is named Uraraka. Good to know,' thought Izuku, noticing that a vein was throbbing in Kaachan's forehead was throbbing out of the corner of his eye, before he spoke aloud. "You mean the rescue points? I didn't actually know about those, but I don't think it would have been very heroic to just stand around and watch when someone was in danger."

"Then that makes you even more deserving of not only those rescue points, but a place in U.A. High's hero track," Tenya said confidently, causing Izuku to feel heat rising on the back of his neck.

Before Izuku could reply, a familiar voice came from the doorway. "Hey, you're Midoriya, right? I'm so glad you're here!"

Izuku turned around to see the girl he'd saved from the Zero-Pointer, Uraraka, standing there. "Uraraka, right?" Izuku asked with a friendly smile.

"Yup, that's me, Ochako Uraraka," Ochako said with a bright and bubbly smile. "I-"

Before Ochako could finish speaking, an older, male voice cleared its throat. "While I'm sure that you're all eager to get to know each other considering that you'll be spending the next three years together, I'd like to remind you all that we have a bell for a reason."

Following the sound of the new voice, everyone looked around to see a yellow sleeping bag lying behind the teacher's desk. A hand emerged from the sleeping bag, unzipping it to reveal a man that looked kinda like a hobo, drinking a jelly packet. As everyone took their seats, the man finished drinking his packet and tossed it in the trash. A few tense moments passed by as the man looked at his students, silently analyzing them.

"My name is Shouta Aizawa, your homeroom teacher. Pleased to meet you," the man, Aizawa, said, sounding as though he had just woken up. "Welcome to the first day of what could very well be the rest of your lives. Now then, each of you grab a gym uniform from over there and head out onto the grounds."

"Why?" Ochako blurted out loudly, feeling no shortage of embarrassment as she felt everyone's eyes on her.

"Because I'm going to be doing an assessment of your Quirks," replied Aizawa, sounding as though he thought the answer was patently obvious.

"But, what about orientation? Or guidance sessions?" spluttered Ochako.

"That's what we'd be doing if this were General Studies," replied Aizawa. "But, this is the Hero Course. As such, over the next couple of days, we'll be establishing a baseline of your understanding and the aptitude of your Quirks, how well you understand their mechanics, and their suitability in certain situations that Pro Heroes often find themselves in," Aizawa said, prompting murmurs about how that line of thinking actually made sense from the class. "Now, come on, no time to waste if you're all gonna be heroes."

U.A. Grounds - A Short Time Later

As he and his classmates made their way to the grounds, all of them clad in their gym uniforms, Izuku couldn't help but feel more than a little nervous. Considering the raw display of power he'd shown at the Entrance Exam, on top of the fact that he was, as far as anyone knew, the World's Oldest Late Bloomer, he knew the eyes of both his classmates and teachers would be on him, but what really made him a tad nervous was the fact that Kaachan would be getting a proper look at his "Quirk," and there was a very good chance that he was not going to be happy.

'Whatever, I'll cross that bridge when I get there, which might be sooner than later,' thought Izuku as he and the rest of his class arrived at what seemed to be their destination, and were told by Mr. Aizawa to line up beside what appeared to be a large circle in the middle of the field.

Immediately, Aizawa's eyes landed on Izuku. "Midoriya, right?" he asked Izuku.

"Y-yes, sir?" replied Izuku, looking at his teacher.

"How far could you throw a ball in middle school?" Aizawa asked.

"About fifty-six meters, sir."

"Good," said Aizawa as he pulled out a ball and placed it inside the circle on the ground. "Now, use your Quirk to launch this ball as far as you can, so long as you don't leave the circle."

Izuku nodded and stepped inside the circle before calling upon his willpower to create a giant hand made out of green hard light energy that moved to pick up the ball, only to immediately vanish when a loud and familiar voice bellowed "WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!"

Izuku heaved a tired sigh even as Bakugou rocketed himself towards Izuku with pure unbridled fury, bellowing that Izuku explain himself. However, before he could get within a few feet within Izuku, a solid brick wall made of green hard light energy appeared directly in the explosive blonde's path, which he careened into face first. Everyone present could have sworn they heard a sad violin straight out of an American cartoon as Bakugou slid down it.

"Not now, Kaachan. I'm trying to concentrate, and I can't do that if you go blasting around like a pomeranian," said Izuku, a trail of faint green light connecting his fist to the green wall. "We'll talk about how I got my Quirk later."

A look of pure fury crossed Bakugou's face as pulled himself up off the ground, only to be snagged by the scarf that was wrapped around Aizawa's neck and was dragged away from Izuku and his brick wall projection.

"That'll be a week's detention for trying to attack a fellow student, Bakugou," said Aizawa. "Midoriya, proceed."

Izuku nodded, a small smile just barely visible on his face as Bakugou looked incredulously at his teacher. Kaachan had never been punished for pulling something like that back in Aldera, especially when he was the target. It seemed that their time at U.A. High would indeed be very different compared to their time at Aldera.

Returning his mind to the task at hand, Izuku once more used his ring to summon the large hand that picked up the ball, and threw it as hard as it could into the air, causing it to break the sound barrier and ascend into the heavens, before becoming nothing more than a tinkle in the sky.

Aizawa smirked as he read the readout on the ball's tracker. "Not bad, Midoriya. Looks like it made it clear into orbit," he said as he showed the readout to Izuku and the rest of the classroom revealing that a small infinity sign had come up, filling Izuku with no shortage of pride in his power.

"Whoa, the infinity sign actually came up!" exclaimed one of the students.

"That's incredible!" exclaimed another.

"The Heroics Course is so cool!" cried a third.

Izuku's eyes might have been playing tricks on him, but he could have sworn he saw something dangerous flash in Aizawa's eyes for a moment before it quickly vanished and he called forth the next student.

Meanwhile, In A Nameless Bar In The Kamino Ward…

A man made entirely out of mist named Kurogiri sneezed. Not too far away stood a young man with white hair and cracked skin named Tomura Shigaraki, who was currently gaping at a TV that was showing nothing but static.

"Did… did Sensei just hang up on me?" asked Tomura in shock a mere second before Kurogiri's phone rang.

"Yes, sir?" said Kurogiri, evidently speaking to his master on the phone. "I see… uh-huh… okay, I'll tell him."

Kurogiri hung up before he turned his attention to Tomura. "Sensei sends his deepest apologies, but it seems that the satellite that allows him to contact us through the television has been disabled by a small object of some kind coming from the planet's surface. It will be some time before he is able to find a suitable replacement to piggyback off of."

U.A. Boys Locker Room - A Short Time Later

As he changed back into his school uniform, Izuku had no choice but to admit, he was beyond enamored by the amazing Quirks displayed by his classmates. They were all so cool! Zero Gravity, Electricity, Ice… amazing.

However, there was one Quirk and its user that Izuku couldn't help but become helplessly fascinated by. A fairly tall and pretty girl with the ability to seemingly pull virtually anything she needed right out of her body.

During the part of the assessment where they were launching a ball with their Quirks, Izuku had seen her pull a full-sized cannon right out of her body. During the mobility part of the assessment, she had produced a motorized scooter from her… assets, which inspired Izuku to use his Power Ring to create a segway.

Indeed, as the assessment continued, Izuku became increasingly convinced that there was a great deal he could learn and apply to his own Quirk from speaking with Momo Yaoyorozu, as he learned the girl was named at the end of the assessment.

However, right now, he had more pressing problems to deal with, namely, Kaachan, who had just slammed his hand into the locker right next to Izuku, causing the green-haired teen to turn around to face his former friend, who looked angrier than he'd seen ever seen him.

"So… that Quirk of yours… how did you get it? How long have you had it? Were you lying to me all these years?" Bakugou growled softly.

Izuku took a deep breath to steady himself before he spoke. "I've had it since you got attacked by that Sludge Villain," Izuku explained. "My theory is that my pinky toes are nothing more than a birth defect, and that I only needed a sufficient trigger to get my Quirk to awaken at last, and it looks like trying to save you from that Sludge Villain, knowing full well that I was likely to get myself killed, did the trick. Either that, or a higher power finally took notice of how brave I always was, how strong my willpower really was, even if I myself couldn't see it at the time."

"What the hell are you babbling about, Deku?!" growled Bakugou, fireworks going off in his hand.

"If I were you, Kaachan, I'd get a better grip on my emotions, otherwise a higher power might take notice of just how potent your rage is. And I have it on good authority that you're not gonna like where that leads," warned Izuku before he finished changing back into his school uniform, ducked underneath Bakugou's arm, and strode out of the Locker Room, leaving a confused Bakugou behind him.
