Dr. Marsh watched Dr. Seeker zoom down the street in a rover, in the direction the dino went. She was kicking herself for not considering that he might go after the prototype. She fought her way through the crowd of people standing in the parking lot, ignoring security asking her to remain put. She found her car, and sped out of the lot as quickly as she could, heading in the direction Dr. Seeker went.

She passed armored vehicles as she drove, and suddenly the wheel was becoming increasingly slick with sweat with every black van that passed her. She needed to make it to Dr. Seeker and fast. She took the next exit, going as fast as she legally could get away with to follow behind him, his location beeping on a tablet in the passenger seat that she took from work. She was thanking her past self for putting a tracker in his lab coat.

Dr. Marsh turned on the radio, hoping to ease her mind, but she saw that the ramp they were heading to was towards the Springs shopping center. "Shit," she cursed. Sooner or later someone would call in the iguanodon.

She spotted the rover parked haphazardly in a tow away zone and Grant was running into the shopping center. She parked and quickly followed. The place was crowded for a Monday afternoon in August. She would have thought it wouldn't be since school supposedly went back in session.

She ran through the walkway, passing the bowling alley and the M store. She saw the tail of a lab coat round the corner of the street, and in heels, she tried to catch up. She crossed a bridge, and people were running in the opposite direction she was going.

Soon, she spotted the iguanodon, but she had to fight her way through the onslaught of people. Dr. Seeker was in the middle of the crowd with his hands outstretched towards it. Others were trying to touch it, seemingly not realizing it was real, and the iguanodon appeared uncomfortable. Dr. Marsh tried to make her way to the edge of the walkway and closer to Dr. Seeker. Helicopters started flying overhead.

"Step away from the dinosaur!" Came from a loudspeaker on the helicopter. The iguanodon stood on its hind legs in response to all of the loud noise and commotion, and screams rippled through the crowd. Dr. Marsh pressed herself up against a store as a wave of people started running away in fear, just realizing the dino was real. She made her way past a row of shops to get closer and a man yelled in her face, "Don't go that way! There's a dinosaur!"

As the crowd of people kept coming, she couldn't see much other than the top of the dinosaur's head and his beak-like mouth. The helicopter swooped in, and it looked like ropes were being lowered to the ground.

"Grant, be careful!" she called to him, hoping that he would hear over the commotion. "Get out of there!" Very quickly, the crowd was moving down the pathway. Another helicopter flew overhead. Suddenly, the iguanodon's head was bobbing closer through the crowd and fast.

Dr. Seeker's hand found her's in the chaos, and he started pulling her along, running back towards the bridge. The cover of civilians was thinning as people were running into shops to hide, and the helicopters were following the iguanodon closely. Armed soldiers were coming off of the helicopters. Dr. Seeker and Dr. Marsh were still temporarily under the cover of the chaos. Those who didn't seek cover in shops were running en masse to the parking garage and the street. The soldiers started tactfully clearing the area of civilians

Dr. Seeker let go of her hand, and she almost lost sight of him for a moment in the crowd as people ran between them. Armed soldiers started coming from the road and were trying to help people exiting the shopping center. The rover came quickly driving towards them, but no one was in the vehicle. People started moving out of the way. Dr. Marsh looked around, and Dr. Seeker was beside her, steering with a remote controller. She looked at the soldiers and back at Grant as he started running towards the rover.

"Get in!" Dr. Seeker commanded. Against her better judgment, she followed.

The iguanodon hopped on behind her, causing the vehicle to dip a little lower where he sat. Immediately guns were drawn.

"Step away from the vehicle, or we'll open fire!" One of the soldiers said, but there were still too many civilians in the vicinity. They weren't going to risk stray fire; the scientists knew this. Soldiers came running towards them. Grant pressed any button to get them out of there, and they started traveling into the time tunnel. The air around them was black and white speckled like the edges of your vision before you're about to throw up.

"Are we all okay?" Dr. Marsh asked. She was a bit nauseous. Grant looked at her wide eyed and nodded. The iguanodon looked fine, but it was hard for her to tell.

"Okay. In that case," she said and took a deep breath, steadying herself and her stomach. "Are you out of your mind, Grant?" He closed his eyes to the onslaught of her words.

"You could have gotten everyone killed on that tour. You could have gotten yourself killed just now! After everything, after everything you've put me through, I shouldn't even be here, but I am." She sighed, and her shoulders relaxed. He opened his eyes. She was just looking at him, blank faced. His face was a bit green.

"Thank you, I needed to get that out. I am still angry, but I feel better now," she said finally. He reached out for her hand.

"I'm happy you're here," he said quietly. "Despite everything." The rover lurched forwards. The iguanodon let out a soft roar, and they traveled back in time.

When they appeared back in time, it was midday and the sun was shining. They were at the base of a mountain near a waterfall. The iguanodon seemed to look at the place in familiarity. He awkwardly hopped out of the rover, standing closeby.

"This seems to be close in time to where I got him," Dr. Seeker explained, clutching the control device in his hand. He took a moment to calm himself after the excitement from only a few moments ago. He didn't realize this is where they would end up. Grant was still holding Helen's hand and let go.

Helen got out of the rover and looked around in awe. Some cearadactylus flew overhead, most likely their perch was at the top of the mountain. Dr. Seeker got down from the rover to stand beside her. He put the controller in his lab coat pocket, and took a deep breath.

They looked in front of themselves, and several trees had fallen over. Every couple of feet, there were rocks the size of baseballs in craters along the ground. Dr. Marsh squatted and picked a small one up to put in her pocket. "This is incredible," she said in awe. Dr. Seeker watched her with a smile on her face.

"This is your first time going back," he stated, but it was more so in realization and surprise. She nodded. He met her smile.

"You need to leave him here," she said to him and nodded towards the iguanodon. His face fell and he avoided eye contact. "Grant, they're gonna kill him if we go back," she tried to reason. He looked at the iguanodon. The iguanodon had moved closer to the waterfall and started drinking from it.

"I don't pretend to understand why this is important to you, but for your safety, you gotta leave him. Those men were ready to kill us." Grant didn't look at her. "And we already brought him here. Whatever diseases or germs he could have brought from the present are already here. It would just mean a selfish death sentence in the name of science, and he deserves to live," she said finally. His blue eyes were shiny with tears. Despite how angry she was, it made Helen's stomach churn to see him cry.

He turned to her. "Okay," he said.

"Okay?" She asked quietly, making sure he was sure.

"Okay," he whispered, looking at the iguanodon one more time. He walked towards the dinosaur. "Hey, bud," he started. He opened his mouth to say something else, but screeching came from the distance, and the iguanodon whipped his head quickly away from the water, splashing Dr. Seeker a bit.

Within seconds, velociraptors were running past them. Helen yelped in surprise, and Dr. Seeker froze. One stopped and jumped on the rover, screeching at them before the iguanodon nudged it down and away from the scientists. "Oh my God," Dr. Marsh said.

A carnotaurus roared somewhere behind them. The velociraptor ran even quicker than before. Helen and Grant looked at each other wide eyed. The iguanodon lifted its head, and stared.

"We have to go," Dr. Seeker said. He grabbed her hand and they started running towards the trees, to try to put more distance between them and the dinosaur. The carnotaurus barreled into the clearing and Dr. Seeker pulled himself and Helen further into the trees.

They watched in horror as the dinosaurs started fighting immediately. He squeezed Helen's hand as the dinosaurs roared in pain, the fight moving closer to the trees.

"We have to keep moving," she said to him. A tree came falling towards them as the iguanodon was thrown to the side. They heard the crunch of cracking bone. Dr. Seeker and Dr. Marsh leapt out of the way, and for a moment, there was silence.

Dr. Seeker blinked a few times before he got up, the control remote was no longer in his pocket. He tried to look around for it, but more trees were shaking and the carnotaurus faced his round head towards them and roared.

They continued through the trees as fast as they could, trying not to turn back. "We can't run blindly; we'll get lost," Dr. Marsh said, out of breath. Dr. Seeker paused for a moment. His heart ached for the iguanodon. "We need to go back towards the rover." The sound of large footsteps approaching shook him from his stupor. Dr. Marsh dragged him along, trying to loop back towards the mountain. They could see the rover through the trees, but the crunch of broken foliage kept them moving.

They spotted the controller just on the opposite edge of the clearing. The distant roar of the carnotaurus shook the ground, and Dr. Seeker froze. He saw the limp form of the fallen iguanodon.

She looked at him. The carnotaurus would be back any moment for the easy prey. "Get back to the rover and I'll meet you there," he promised. Her eyes closed, biting back the panic. "Don't think, just run." He kissed her, gently cupping her face with both hands. As soon as his lips left hers, she ran towards the rover and he ran towards the controller and the iguanodon.

Helen hopped into the vehicle. He was about to grab the control remote, but the carnotaurus broke through the trees, branches and bark shrapnel flying. Grant covered his face. Helen cried out in surprise.

Before the carnotaurus could get to Dr. Seeker, the iguanodon came from the side and rammed into the ribcage of the carnotaurus, both of them collapsing in the process. There was a loud, sickening crunch that reverberated through the air, and the forest went silent. The couple paused and listened.

"Grant, we need to leave now. Please," Helen pleaded, but the carnotaurus got up quickly, its attention still on the rover. The dinosaur was covered in blood, a wound was profusely bleeding from its neck. He moved even closer. "Helen!" Grant called out to her in fear.

She watched him, his arms up high, flailing. "Over here!" He called to the dinosaur.

"What are you doing?!" Helen called after him, panicked. The tired carnotaurus turned its head towards him.

"Distracting him!" he called to her.

The iguanodon clamped down on the carnotaurus's tail before he could move any further. Grant grabbed the control remote. He looked at her as the carnotaurus broke free from the iguanodon's beak and started to go towards the rover.

"Systems are ready to go, Buttercup," he said to her. She saw the quick movement of his hand before she could process what was happening. "I'm not leaving you!" she started to try to undo her seatbelt. "Grant! No!"

Everything was bright speckled lights in her vision. The rover lurched forward, and there was blackness. The tears came suddenly, spilling out of her without inhibition. The automated voice said, "mission complete," but it wasn't, he was not with her, and there were about three dozen armed guards pointing guns at her. A few of them moved closer to the vehicle after it stopped, surrounding her.

"I have to go back," She cried out. "Grant! He's back there, I can't leave him there!"

"Step out of the vehicle with your hands in the air!" She put her hands up, but no one was listening.

"Please, I have to bring him back," tears started pouring harder, she couldn't make them stop. It was becoming difficult for her to breathe.

"Get out of the vehicle! Now!" She carefully got out of the rover, trying to keep her hands in the air. One of them grabbed her hands as soon as she stepped down from the rover, and she could feel the cold metal of handcuffs being put on her wrists.
