Yukina and her friends were offered an incredible opportunity. Justin Hirozin, the head of the WDA, has helped them compete in the Worldwide Supreme Tournament. He doesn't just want them to compete. It turns out that there are a total of six Malicious Fiends, just like Life Destroyer. He wants them to find them and make sure they won't fall into the wrong hands. To everyone's surprise, Cray turned down the offer because the one Cray wants to defeat is Yukina. With him turning down the offer, Marcus surprisingly showed up and claims that he wants to be on the team.
"Uh... What?" Justin questioned as they weren't sure what to think of this.
"Marcus?! What are you even doing here?!" Yukina questioned. "How did you even get here?!"
"It was easy." Marcus claimed...after running for miles to get to the building, getting kicked out, and snuck in through the air ducts. "Come on! Let me be part of the team! You have to have the number one duelist! We'll win for sure!"
"Yukina, who is this guy?" Sabaro questioned.
"His name is Marcus Zimmer. He originally came to challenge Yukina." Cindy said. "As you can see, he's obnoxious."
"I didn't get all of what you guys were talking about, but I so want to compete in this tournament!" Marcus said. "I don't have a clue on what you're talking about with these things called Malicious Fiends, but I want to be in the tournament. If you're letting Yukina on, you've got to let me in!"
"Is he serious?" Felix questioned.
"He is." Yukina said.
"Come on! Why can't I be on the team?!" Marcus questioned. "I'm the best, that's all there is to it. Besides, if that Cray is really going to ditch you guys like that, he can't be all that. I'm a lot better than him."
"What?!" Kent shouted as he found that quite offensive. "You've got a lot of nerve! There's no way you could ever defeat someone like Cray, especially when you couldn't defeat Yukina! You can't just walk in here and run your mouth like that! Especially since we're a tight group and we don't know you! You can't just try to take a spot that was made for Cray! I'll prove to you that you are in way over your head!"
"Is that a challenge?! Great!" Marcus said. "If I beat Kent in a duel, you've got to make me become a member of this team!"
"Hold on. You can't just decide something like that." Sabaro said. "We should just call security and throw you out of here."
"Fine. I'll allow it." Justine said as they were all surprised to hear he agreed to those terms. "He certainly has spunk to come all the way here with an attitude like that. I just hope for his sake he's not all talk. What do the rest of you think? Are you fine with this?"
"Well..." Yukina stumbled as she wasn't sure.
"I say we let him do it. Maybe he'll annoy us less." Felix said.
"It's fine with me. Marcus does have a good deck and has some skill." Cindy said.
"Awesome! You're not going to regret this. When I win, you'll see that you're guaranteed to win this tournament." Marcus claimed.
"Not if I have anything to say about it!" Kent claimed.
...
The Duel Field
They took this to a duel field so that they can settle this. Kent and Marcus faced each other while the others were in the stands to watch this.
"I don't want to humiliate you, Kent." Marcus said. "If you want to back out of this, I'm not going to blame you. I'm not going to be holding anything back."
"I wouldn't want you to. I'll show you that you can't just take Cray's place." Kent claimed as they were both set to go.
"Let's duel!" They both said as they were starting the duel with 4000LP.
"I'm the one who is going to kick things off." Marcus said as he started out. "I'm bringing out my Windwitch Ice Bell to the field!" He summoned out his witch as she flew out with 1000atk points. "As you might remember, this card deals 500 points of damage to you!" His witch fired a cold blast and Kent got hit with his life points dropping to 3500. "When Ice Bell is summoned, I can bring out another Ice Bell to the field and have it all repeat!" He summoned out another Ice Bell with the same results. Kent got blasted and his life points dropped to 3000. "Next, since I have these two on the field, I'll summon Windwitch Snow Bell in defense mode!" He summoned out his tuner monster with it having 100def points. "I place two cards facedown and that ends my turn."
"Strange. He has a tuner monster, but he didn't synchro summoned." Sabaro said. "This looks like it could be a real battle between fire and ice."
"Wait. He pulled the same thing when he dueled Yukina. That means Urgent Tuning must be one of those face-downs." Cindy said.
"I wouldn't be too sure about that." Felix said. "When he dueled Yukina, he placed one face-down. This time, he played two. What's more is that Snow Bell was summoned in defense mode. He summoned it in attack mode last time. These differences might play a key in this duel."
"Marcus might like to run his mouth, but he does have some skill." Yukina admitted.
"My turn!" Kent said as he drew his card and took his turn. 'I'm pretty sure one of his face-downs has to be Urgent Tuning. The other one might be something to help save his monsters. Well, I'm not going to lose to this guy.' "I set the pendulum scale with my scale 3 Heatsoul Lighter with my scale 9 Heatsoul Furnace!" He set the scale with his two monsters with them in pillars of light. "I pendulum summon!" He summoned out two monsters as they emerged in a spiral of flames. "I summon Heatsoul Sniper!" He brought out his sniper with it having 1500atk points. "I'm also summoning out Heatsoul Private!" He summoned out a red robot designed like a soldier with a flaming battle dagger and had 1400atk points.
"Pendulum summoning?! Awesome!" Marcus said.
"After I pendulum summon, Heatsoul Lighter gives my monsters an extra 500atk points!" Kent said as his sniper and private gained attack points to 2000 and 1900atk points. "What's more is that Heatsoul Furnace can deal damage equal to the change in attack points! Now it's your turn to take some damage!" His furnace fired a series of fireballs that blasted Marcus and his life points dropped to 3500. "Time to blow your witches away! Heatsoul Private, attack!" His robotic soldier went on the attack and went for Ice Bell.
"Not so fast! I play Magician's Circle!" Marcus said as he activated his trap. "This allows both of us to summon a spellcaster from my decks as long as they have 2000atk points or less!"
"But none of my monsters are spellcasters!" Kent said.
"That's fine. Mine are, and that means I can summon another Ice Bell!" Marcus said as a third appeared on the field. "That means you lose another 500LP!" His third witch unleashed another cold blast and hit Kent with his life points dropping to 2500.
"So what?! My monsters are still stronger, and they're going down!" Kent said as he went on with the attack.
"Time to put out that fire with Aqua Chorus!" Marcus said as he activated another trap. "As long as this trap remains on the field, monsters with the same name gain 500atk points! Since I got two Ice Bells, they gain 500atk points each! However, since there are three of them on the field, they actually gain 1000atk points!" His three Ice Bells gained power as they each now had 2000atk points. When that happened, one of them blasted Kent's monster with it and destroyed it. That caused Kent's life points to drop down to 2400.
"He set a trap to increase his own monsters' power." Justin said. "In order to use Aqua Chorus, he needed two monsters with the same name, and he had Magician's Circle ready in case he needed more."
"You might have destroyed my private, but his special ability activates when he's destroyed in battle." Kent said. "I can now take any Heatsoul monster in my deck and add it to my hand. I know just the one: Heatsoul General!" He said as he took his ace out. "Also, since Heatsoul Private is a pendulum monster, it goes to my extra deck instead of my graveyard."
"Maybe, but now you have one less monster." Marcus said.
"So will you! Heatsoul Sniper, attack his tuner monster so he can't synchro summon!" Kent ordered. His sniper fired its rifle and shattered Snow Bell. "Now that we have that done, I'm activating my sniper's ability! Normally, one card at random in your hand is sent to the graveyard, but you only have one card. If that card happens to be a monster, you lose 100LP per level!" His sniper fired away again and managed to blast Marcus' card, but no damage was dealt.
"Sorry, Kent. The card you selected was my Cost Down. That's a spell, so I don't take damage." Marcus said as he discarded his card.
"So what?! I'm still not going to lose!" Kent said. "I place one card facedown to end my turn!" He claimed with his sniper's power returning to normal. 'I'm all set. If I can just hold on until my next turn, I can deal some real damage once I summon Heatsoul General. I've also got my Heatsoul Brigade trap ready. That trap will add even more power to my Heatsouls. I just need to hold on until my next turn.'
"My turn!" Marcus said as he drew his next card. "Sweet! Just what I need! I summon Windwitch Glass Bell!" He summoned out another witch with her having 1500atk points. "And now I tune my level four Glass Bell with my level three Ice Bell!" Marcus started up the synchro process with his two witches and summoned out the monster. "I synchro summon Windwitch Winter Bell!" He summoned out his signature monster as it flew out with 2400atk points. That might caused his Windwitches to lose power to just 1500atk points, but all of it is just how Marcus wanted. "I now activate Winter Bell's ability to deal damage per Glass Bell's level by 200!" His Winter Bell unleashed a series of ice shots at Kent and blasted him with his life points dropping to 1600.
"Oh man! I... I can't do anything to stop him winning now!" Kent said as he could see the outcome of this duel, and it wasn't good for him.
"Got that right! Winter Bell, attack his Heatsoul Sniper!" Marcus ordered. Winter Bell unleashed another series of cold blasts and destroyed Kent's sniper with his life points dropping 700. "That means my Ice Bells can attack you directly and end this!" One of his witches blasted Kent with cold air and all of his life points dropped to zero.
"He actually won?!" Felix said as they were shocked that Marcus actually won.
"No! I'm sorry, Cray! How could I let this happen?!" Kent cried.
"There! See?! I won! Now you've got to let me on the team!" Marcus called. They all couldn't believe it. They actually have to take this guy with him?
"Well, at least you have your team." Justin said as a deal is a deal. This is going to be a long trip.
...
Weeks Later
Since they had no choice after making that deal, Marcus became an official member of the team. Now that the team was register, they will soon begin their first match in the tournament. With the Worldwide Supreme Tournament about to commence, it was time for Yukina and her friends to hit the road. They were at the airport and all set to go with Justin and Hank seeing them off.
"Everything is set now." Hank said.
"This is so exciting." Yukina said. "We get to go around the whole world and compete in various matches against opponents from all around."
"I know. This is so exciting." Marcus claimed.
"Stay focus." Felix said. "It's not just that we have to be thinking about. Remember our mission as well."
"Felix has a point. Dealing with opponents from all over the world and finding these other five Malicious Fiends will be difficult to balance." Cindy said.
"That's why you all consist of this team. Three officials with two substitutes. You can divide the work." Justin said. "Also, Kent and Cindy, one of you can also take on a managerial role if you want?"
"Managerial role?" Kent questioned.
"One of you acts like the team manager and makes sure things stay on track." Justin said.
"Uh... Cindy, I think that role suits you better." Kent claimed.
"Me?! Oh boy..." Cindy said as she was nervous about having such a big role.
"Just as Felix said, the tournament is not just your concern. We must ensure these other malicious fiends don't fall in the wrong hands." Justin claimed. "We'll keep in touch and guide you along the way. That said, make sure you do your best in this tournament."
"No worries. Just leave it to Team Marcus." Marcus claimed.
"Team Marcus?" Yukina said with disgust.
"We are not calling ourselves that. You should be lucky we even let you come along." Felix said with annoyance.
"Sorry, Marcus. We already had you registered as Team Mystic." Hank claimed.
"We went with that name because you've had your fair share of dealing with these mystical forces, not to mention that most of your decks represent various forms of the mystical side as well."
"Team Mystic? That sounds great!" Yukina said as she loved it.
"So, who are our first opponents?" Felix questioned.
"You'll be heading for China for your first match. You'll be going against Team Fanrong." Justin informed. That means they'll be going against Jaw-Long and his team right from the start.
"So Team Fanrong will be our first opponent. Well, what are we waiting for?" Yukina said as she and the others were all excited to get going. The world is calling for them and they can't ignore it. On a mission and taking part of an exciting tournament, a great adventure is right before them now. Once it was all set, they all boarded their plane and were on their way for their first match.
"Hey! Look at that!" Felix said. They all looked outside and saw all of their friends were there to lend their support as they showed banners and signs to cheer for them all.
"Amazing!" Yukina said as they loved seeing this. "Now we've got to win this thing."
"I can't wait. I wonder what's just ahead of us." Cindy said.
"I'm not sure, but we'll face whatever it is." Yukina said. Whether it's the tournament or the Malicious Fiends, this team will be ready for it.
