The next day

On the way to the island, a boy with light blue hair came up to where I was sitting.

"Can I help you?" I asked the boy.

"I was impressed with how you dueled. My name is Syrus Truesdale." He went on to state that he became anxious during tests.

"Who doesn't on occasion?" It was human nature to become anxious in stressful situations. "Allow me to introduce myself. Perry Dragonheart."

Syrus felt he was very nice after hearing this.

The rest of the plane ride was uneventful.

Soon, the academy came into view.

'That's Duel Academy, huh?' Perry thought, impressed.

He and Syrus would be in the Slifer Red dorm along with a brunette named Jaden Yuki.

Everyone that passed their entrance exams got off with their possessions.

"We finally made it." Syrus sighed.

"Isn't the school's chancellor going to give a speech?"

"Yeah." Syrus nodded.

He followed Perry to the building in the middle of the island.

Syrus and Perry saw Jaden among the large crowd.

"Hey there." He said with a cheerful expression. "It's going to be great living at the Academy."

"It certainly will be." Perry was looking forward to it as well. "The speech is about to begin."

"Welcome to Duel Academy. I'm Chancellor Sheppard, this Academy's headmaster. All of you are the best and brightest duelists the world has to offer."

The speech dragged on for a while.

"I've taken up enough of your time. Each dorm's headmaster will go over the rest." The screen turned off.

Everyone then left the building.

"What dorm are we going to?" Jaden asked.

"Slifer Red." Perry quickly answered.

He pointed at his uniform.

"The color of our uniforms determines the dorm we're placed in."

"So all three of us are in the red dorm." Jaden stated.

We then walk over to the red dorm.

Our dorm turned out to be a two-story apartment building.

"So this is what the red dorm looks like?" Perry asked out loud. "I've seen worse."

He climbed the stairs to his room.

"I have a room to myself."

"Syrus and I have a room next door."

I then leave Syrus and Jaden alone and enter my own room.

I was staying in this room by myself. It had a closet, sink and desk with a computer on it. There was also a bookshelf and triple bunk bed.

Heading up to the bookshelf, I pull a book off it and open it to begin reading.

My hope was to move up to Obelisk Blue, but to do that I needed to study.

After reviewing the material in the books, I start unpacking.

When I was done, I head to Jaden and Syrus's room. I knocked on the door, but there was no answer. The door wasn't locked, so I open it to see Jaden and Syrus in the middle of a duel.

"Aw man, I lost again!" Syrus said. It didn't sound like he was upset though. "You're a good duelist Jaden. Teach me your ways!"

"You can become a good duelist on your own." I inform him.

Jaden noticed me in the doorway. "Oh hey. I was just dueling Syrus."

"Kinda obvious." Perry sweat dropped.

"What's with all the racket?" A male voice asked. "Can't a guy get some sleep?"

We turned to the source of the voice.

"And you are?" Perry asked.

"Chumley. Chumley Huffington. I'm their room mate." We introduce ourselves to Chumley.

"Like that matters. You might have made it into the Academy, but it's time to give up your dreams."

"Are you referring to the three dorms?" I respond. "Here at the Academy there are three different dorms. Our dorm, Slifer Red is for those that barely made it to the academy and new transfers. Ra Yellow is in the middle, the students in that dorm fared rather well during the entrance exams. Finally, there's Obelisk Blue. Those students are the best of the best on the island."

"In any case, do you want to check out the rest of the island." I walk out the door.

Jaden and Syrus follow me to a yellow building with a green rooftop and green windows.

"Like I said before. This is the Ra Yellow Dorm."

"Exactly." We turn to a young man in a yellow blazer and brown pants. "You three are in the red dorm it seems."

Jaden smiled. "No biggie. Anyway, who are you?"

"Bastion Misawa. I'm a freshman in the Ra Yellow dorm."

Syrus gasped after hearing his name.

"You had the highest score on the written exam." Jaden didn't have a clue.

"In layman's terms, he's the best duelist among the freshmen." I continue.

"I'm number one though." Jaden's tone sounded like his pride was shattered. "You sound strong. Want to duel?"

"It would be my pleasure." Bastion then paused. "But I have something to attend to."

We continue exploring the island.

We then walk to a white castle with blue rooftops in front of the academy. Jaden took a good look at it.

"What's that building?" He asked.

"It looks like a palace!" Syrus commented.

"The Obelisk Blue boys dorm." I elaborate. "Obelisk Blue has two buildings for it's students. One is for boys and the other is for girls."

We then head south.

"So this is the dorm for the girls?" Jaden asked.

He remembered that I mentioned it not that long ago.

A female student with sandy blonde hair noticed us.

"What are you doing here?" She demanded.

"Nothing special." Jaden answered.

"Don't mind us. We're just exploring the island." I tell her.

"Freshmen, huh." She calmed down and smiled.

"I'm Perry Dragonheart. This is Jaden and Syrus. What's your name?"

"Alexis Rhodes." She answered. "I'm also a freshman here in Obelisk Blue."

"Oh my. Look at the time!"

"What's wrong?" Jaden asked.

Perry then came into view. He was looking at the schedule on his PDA.

"The welcome dinner is about to start."

We quickly return to the red dorm before we got the chance to say goodbye.

We eventually made it back to the red dorm. The three of us take a seat.

"Looks like we weren't late. Where's the feast?" Syrus asked with a sigh.

I look down and all I see is dried sardine and rice.

"Call this a feast?" I sweat drop. "Scratch that. Where's the headmaster?"

I hear someone cough behind us.

"Oh, there he is."

"My name's professor Lyman Banner, the headmaster of Slifer Red. I've prepared a beautiful feast for the welcome dinner. Please enjoy yourselves."

"So there will be a welcome dinner." Syrus sighed in relief.

"We were worried, right Jaden?" Jaden had been stuffing his face this whole time.

I shake my head.

After the welcome dinner, I head back to my room. I look around and I'm still the only person in this room.

'Might as well get used to this.' I thought.
