Chapter One: The Path to Godhood! Uub's Journey Begins!

The sun hung low in the sky over Planet Plantain, casting long shadows across the rugged terrain. This distant world, with gravity heavier than Earth's, was the perfect training ground for Goku and his protege, Uub. For the past four years, they had dedicated themselves to rigorous training, pushing their limits in ways that would have once seemed impossible.

Goku, in his base form, faced Uub in a wide clearing surrounded by rocky outcrops and towering trees that swayed gently in the strong winds. Uub, now a young man, had matured both physically and mentally under Goku's guidance. His once-boyish features were now chiseled and determined, his body a testament to years of hard work. His black hair stood wild, mirroring the spirit within him—restless, powerful, and eager to prove itself.

"Come on, Uub! Show me everything you've got!" Goku called, his cheerful voice ringing through the air. He could sense Uub's power surging, and he was eager to see how far his student had come.

Uub nodded, his expression serious as he took a fighting stance. "I won't hold back, Goku!"

In an instant, Uub lunged forward, channeling his ki. The ground beneath him cracked as he propelled himself toward Goku with a fierce kick aimed at his mentor's head. Goku effortlessly dodged, but Uub was quick, pivoting and following up with a series of punches and kicks that showcased his refined martial arts skills.

"Good speed, Uub! But you need to focus on your technique!" Goku advised, weaving through the strikes. He returned fire with a flurry of punches, each one forcing Uub to defend and counterattack, their movements blurring together in a dance of power.

Uub grunted with exertion, sweat glistening on his brow as he struggled to keep pace with Goku. "I'm trying! It's just... it's hard to access that power inside me!"

"Don't think about it! Just let it flow!" Goku encouraged, a grin spreading across his face. "You're already a trained martial artist. You know how to harness your ki—now, you just have to dig deeper!"

With Goku's words echoing in his mind, Uub took a deep breath and focused, drawing upon every ounce of energy within him. He had long struggled with accessing his latent God Ki, a power that lay dormant, whispering promises of strength just beyond his reach.

"Alright! Here I go!" Uub shouted, pushing himself to his limits. He unleashed a powerful energy wave, his aura flaring bright as he charged at Goku once more. The ground trembled underfoot, and he could feel the energy crackling around him.

Goku's eyes widened with excitement. "That's it! Now let's see how you handle this!"

In a flash, Goku transformed into his Super Saiyan form, golden hair spiking upwards and a fierce intensity igniting in his emerald eyes. Uub felt the shift in the air, the overwhelming pressure of Goku's power causing his heart to race. He pressed on, launching a renewed assault, but Goku was faster, each blow met with a swift counter.

As the intensity of their sparring match escalated, Goku found himself pushed back slightly, which brought a proud smile to his face. "You're getting stronger, Uub! But it's still not enough!"

Determined, Uub launched into the air, performing an aerial flip to land another strike. "I won't give up! I can do this!"

"Alright, let's see what you've really got!" Goku shouted, ascending to his Super Saiyan 3 form, his hair flowing longer and his energy pulsing with raw power. The transformation sent shockwaves through the ground, and Uub felt the weight of the moment settle in.

Goku pressed the attack, his movements fluid and graceful, yet packed with immense strength. Uub struggled to keep up, but each punch he managed to deflect filled him with exhilaration. He fought with everything he had, his ki flaring as he tried to tap into the power he knew lay within.

"Come on, Uub! You can do it! Push through!" Goku encouraged, a fierce determination in his eyes.

Uub, fueled by his mentor's words, felt a spark ignite within him. He concentrated, feeling the chaotic energy of his Buu lineage swirling in tandem with his own ki. For a brief moment, he felt something shift, a flicker of divine energy. But just as quickly as it appeared, it slipped away, leaving him frustrated.

Goku noticed the moment, his expression softening. "You're close, Uub! But you need to let go of that frustration! Trust in your training!"

Uub nodded, taking a deep breath. "You're right! I can do this!" He channeled his energy, pushing back against Goku's relentless assault, but the power difference was apparent.

With a swift combination of punches and kicks, Goku managed to outmaneuver Uub, delivering a final, powerful blow that sent Uub crashing to the ground. The impact created a small crater, and Uub gasped for air, lying on his back, panting heavily.

"Ugh... I'm getting tired of being knocked down!" he groaned, though a smile crept onto his face.

"Now, let's see what happens when you really dig deep!" Goku exclaimed, his voice booming with excitement.

In a heartbeat, Goku unleashed the power of the gods, transforming into his Super Saiyan God form. His aura ignited into a radiant crimson, the very air around him shimmering with divine energy. Uub felt a chill run down his spine as he stared in awe at Goku's form, the sheer magnitude of the power radiating from his mentor overwhelming.

"This is what it means to access the ki of the Gods!" Goku declared, his voice calm yet powerful. "Feel the difference, Uub! This is the strength you aspire to attain!"

Uub stood, determined but clearly intimidated by the vast gulf separating their strengths. "I... I want to reach that level!"

With a smirk, Goku charged at Uub, his movements a blur. Uub readied himself, but Goku's speed in this form was incomprehensible. In a flash, Goku delivered a series of precise blows that left Uub reeling.

"Goku, wait! I can—!" Uub managed to shout before Goku landed a final, decisive strike, sending him crashing to the ground once more, the wind knocked out of him.

Uub lay there, panting heavily, staring up at the sky with a mixture of awe and determination. "I... I'll get there. I won't give up!"

Goku landed beside him, transforming back into his base form, his expression a mix of pride and encouragement. "You did great, Uub. You really gave it your all! I'm proud of you."

Uub smiled despite the exhaustion, his body still trembling from their intense bout. "But… I still couldn't keep up with your God form," he admitted, wiping the sweat from his brow. "There's so much power in you, Goku. I want to reach that level someday."

"You will," Goku said with a grin, clapping Uub on the shoulder. "You've already got the potential inside you. I've seen it. You just need to find that connection to your God Ki, and you'll surpass anything you've ever known."

Uub nodded, feeling a surge of hope from Goku's words. His mentor had a way of making everything seem possible, even when the challenges felt insurmountable. It wasn't just his words, but the sincerity behind them.

"I believe in you, Uub," Goku said, his voice warm. "You've already got the heart of a true fighter, and that's more important than any power. Keep pushing, and you'll find what you're looking for."

Uub looked up at Goku, his eyes gleaming with determination. "Thank you, Goku. I won't let you down."

"I know you won't," Goku said, smiling brightly. "But we're done for the day. You've earned a break. Besides, I think it's about time I head back home and spend some time with my family."

Goku raised his fingers to his forehead, readying for instant transmission, but paused to give Uub one last glance. "We'll pick this up tomorrow. Keep working on that God Ki. You're closer than you think."

With a wink, Goku vanished in a flash, the air shimmering briefly where he once stood.

As Uub stood alone in the quiet aftermath of their training, a soft breeze swept across the landscape. He took a deep breath, letting the air cool his body as he processed everything Goku had said. He closed his eyes, trying to feel the presence of the God Ki within him.

But unbeknownst to him, a pair of eyes watched from the shadows, hidden among the dense foliage of a nearby cliff. A figure stood shrouded in darkness, its gaze fixed on Uub with an eerie intensity. The wind stirred again, but this time it carried with it a faint sense of something ominous, something watching, waiting.

Uub opened his eyes and glanced around, sensing a strange shift in the air, but he saw nothing. Shaking off the feeling, he began his walk back to his quarters, unaware of the eyes that followed his every move.

On Earth, Goku materialized just outside his house in the peaceful countryside. A wide smile spread across his face as he spotted Chi-Chi tending to the garden, her back turned to him. Without a moment's hesitation, he called out her name.

"Chi-Chi!"

She turned around just in time for Goku to scoop her up in his arms, spinning her around in a joyous embrace. Chi-Chi let out a surprised laugh, though her expression softened quickly when she realized who it was.

"Goku! Put me down, you big oaf!" she scolded playfully, but the affection in her voice was undeniable. Goku gently set her back on the ground, still grinning from ear to ear.

"I missed you," Goku said, planting a quick kiss on her forehead. "It's been a long day of training, but I'm home now."

Chi-Chi gave him a fond smile, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Well, you're just in time! Gohan and Goten are inside waiting. I've made dinner, so go on and wash up!"

"Dinner?" Goku's eyes lit up at the word, and before Chi-Chi could say another word, he had already darted inside the house.

Inside, Gohan and Goten were already seated at the table, chatting casually. Gohan waved when he saw his father enter, his face bright with the usual scholarly calm, while Goten greeted him with a casual nod.

"Hey, Dad! About time you showed up," Goten said with a smirk.

"What he means is that you're just in time, Dad," Gohan added with a grin.

Goku, now sitting at the table, wasted no time digging into the feast Chi-Chi had prepared. The table was loaded with steaming plates of rice, roasted meats, vegetables, and plenty of other dishes that seemed to call out to Goku's insatiable appetite. As always, he wasted no time in devouring the meal, piling his plate high and tearing through the food with enthusiasm.

Goten and Gohan shared an amused glance, while Chi-Chi rolled her eyes. "Always with the eating," she said, shaking her head.

Goku paused just long enough to grin at her, his mouth still half-full of food. "Chi-Chi, this is amazing! You've really outdone yourself!"

Once the meal was over, and Goku had finally set his chopsticks down with a satisfied sigh, he turned to Goten and Gohan with a mischievous glint in his eye. "So… how about we head outside and get a little sparring in, huh? Just like old times."

Chi-Chi huffed, crossing her arms. "You never change, Goku. But at least we had a nice family meal first!"

Goten laughed, rubbing the back of his head. "I guess I can get a few rounds in, Dad, but I've been taking it a little easier lately."

Gohan, however, gave a confident smile. "Alright Dad, let's see what you've got."

The three Saiyans stepped outside, the evening air cool and refreshing. The sun was beginning to set, casting a soft orange glow over the hills.

Goku stretched, loosening up his muscles, while Goten and Gohan exchanged a look of anticipation. "Alright," Goku said, clapping his hands together. "Let's make this quick, though. Chi-Chi worked hard on dinner, and I don't want to ruin all her hard work."

Despite the friendly competition, there was an undercurrent of excitement. Goten, though casual in his training, could still feel the thrill of battle surging through him, while Gohan, who had been more diligent in maintaining his skills, was ready to see just how far he had come.

Goku looked from one son to the other, a wide grin on his face. "Alright, who's up first?"

Gohan stepped forward; his smile confident but relaxed. "I'll go first, Dad. It's been a while since we really got to test ourselves."

Goten let out a small laugh, backing up to watch from the sidelines. "I'll sit back and learn from the master first."

Goku's eyes lit up as he cracked his knuckles and took a stance. "Alright, Gohan, show me what you've been working on!"

The two took their positions a few meters apart, the tension in the air palpable yet friendly. Goku remained in his base form, but even in that state, his power was immense. Gohan, however, had kept up with his training rigorously over the past four years. He had his father's blood in him and was more than ready to test his strength against one of the strongest beings in the universe.

"Ready?" Goku asked, a playful spark in his eye.

Gohan nodded; his expression focused but relaxed. "Ready!"

With a burst of speed, Gohan launched himself toward Goku, his fists moving faster than the eye could track. Goku effortlessly blocked the rapid strikes, deflecting each punch with practiced ease. Gohan kept up the pressure, ducking low and attempting to sweep Goku's legs, but Goku leaped gracefully into the air, avoiding the attack.

"You've gotten faster!" Goku said with a grin, landing softly and immediately launching into his own counterattack. His fists moved like lightning, but Gohan was ready, blocking and dodging as best he could. Despite his father's overwhelming power, Gohan's focus never wavered.

"Not bad!" Goku praised, throwing a series of feints to test Gohan's reflexes. "You've been training hard!"

Gohan smirked, his energy spiking. "I have to keep up with you, Dad."

He suddenly powered up, his aura flaring to life around him as he transformed into his Ultimate form. The release of energy was intense, causing the ground beneath him to tremble slightly as his power surged.

"Oh, Ultimate Gohan, huh?" Goku said, his grin widening. "Let's see what you've got, then!"

Gohan wasted no time, using his newfound strength to dash forward with even more speed. His fist connected with Goku's block, the force of the impact sending a shockwave through the air. Goku slid back slightly, impressed by the raw power behind Gohan's strike.

"Nice one!" Goku said, before disappearing in a blur of movement, reappearing behind Gohan with a quick kick aimed at his side.

But Gohan anticipated it, spinning around and catching Goku's leg just before it hit. With a swift motion, he flipped Goku over, sending him crashing into the ground. But Goku wasn't done yet—he quickly righted himself in mid-air, landing gracefully on his feet and immediately going on the offensive.

Gohan met every attack with precision, their fists and feet colliding in rapid succession, creating shockwaves with every hit. It was clear that Gohan had been training diligently, his form impeccable and his strength formidable.

But Goku was still a step ahead. As Gohan went for a high kick, Goku sidestepped and countered with a powerful palm strike to Gohan's chest, sending him skidding back across the field. Gohan dug his heels into the ground, halting his momentum. He wiped the sweat from his brow, breathing heavily but smiling.

Goku chuckled, lowering his hands. "You're stronger than ever, Gohan. I'm impressed!"

Gohan nodded, powering down and walking back toward Goten, who was watching with wide eyes. "Your turn, Goten," he said with a grin, slapping his brother on the back. "Good luck!"

Goten gulped but smiled nervously. "Right… my turn."

He stepped forward, rubbing the back of his head. "I've been a little, uh, laid back with my training, Dad. But I'm ready!"

Goku smiled warmly, taking his stance once again. "That's okay, Goten. We're just having fun, so let's see what you've got!"

Goten took a deep breath, powering up to his Super Saiyan form. His golden aura flared around him as he adopted a fighting stance, though it was clear that his energy wasn't as focused as Gohan's.

"Alright, Goten! Show me what you can do!" Goku called out encouragingly.

Goten shot forward with surprising speed, throwing a punch aimed at Goku's midsection. Goku sidestepped easily, but Goten was quick, immediately following up with a flurry of kicks and punches. Goku dodged and parried with ease, but Goten was determined to land a hit.

"You've got good instincts, Goten," Goku said, blocking another punch. "But you need to tighten up your form!"

Goten frowned, concentrating harder as he attempted a spinning kick. Goku ducked under the attack, then lightly tapped Goten's forehead with two fingers, sending him tumbling backward.

"Ugh!" Goten grunted, landing in a crouch. He quickly scrambled to his feet, powering up even more, his Super Saiyan aura growing brighter. "I'm not done yet!"

He charged again, this time with more focus. His attacks were wild but fast, and though Goku blocked them with ease, it was clear that Goten was giving it everything he had. Sweat dripped down Goten's face as he pushed himself harder, trying to match his father's incredible speed.

But Goku was still leagues ahead. With a quick, almost playful motion, he caught Goten's next punch and spun him around, lightly tossing him into the air. Goten flipped mid-air and landed on his feet, panting heavily.

Goku smiled and dropped his guard, signaling the end of their session. "That was great, Goten. You're doing well, but you need to focus more on your training. You've got all the power; you just need to refine it."

Goten scratched the back of his head, grinning sheepishly. "Yeah, I guess I've been slacking a bit. But I'll work on it, Dad!"

Goku gave both of his sons a proud smile, walking over to them and pulling them into a group hug. "You guys did great. I'm proud of both of you."

As the three stood there together, Chi-Chi watched from the porch, shaking her head but smiling warmly. "Always with the fighting," she muttered, though there was no mistaking the pride in her voice.

The sparring had been lighthearted, but it was clear that the bond between Goku and his sons had only grown stronger over the years. They may have been Saiyans with incredible power, but at the end of the day, they were family.

And that, above all, was what mattered most.

Thank you for checking out "Dragon Ball Legacy". Please leave a review and give me your thoughts or any questions you might have for me! At the end of every chapter, there will be a section just like this where I answer questions that you leave me in reviews! (Unless they are related to spoilers for future chapters).

I am trying everything I can to stick to the style of the late Akira Toriyama. You might have noticed the name of the planet that Goku and Uub are training on: Planet Plantain. Yes, I know it's wacky, but Toriyama has always drawn from food to name things. The obvious ones are Kakarot (carrot), Vegeta (vegetable), and Broly (broccoli). Even in the recent Granolah Arc of the "Dragon Ball Super" manga, not only is his name literally Granolah, but he is a "Cerelian" from "Planet Cereal" who has a sidekick named Oatmeal. This is just a thing he does.

I'm also drawing from his style of storytelling. Toriyama hasn't ever really had an overarching villain throughout Dragon Ball, unless I'm missing something. Everything is split into distinct arcs, most of which are named after the arc's villain. So, this is the first chapter of what I'm calling the "Cadabra Arc". That name will be explained in a section similar to this in a future chapter. I promise it matches one of Toriyama's established naming conventions perfectly. This arc is centered primarily around Uub, but don't worry, all of the Z-Fighters you know and love will be heavily featured in future arcs. One of my main focuses with this story is shifting the spotlight from only Goku and Vegeta to other characters who either never had their moment to shine, or haven't had any memorable moments for some time.

Again, thank you for checking out this story and new chapters will be posted as soon as they're finished!
