I'm not the owner of My hero academia or Hunter x Hunter.
I was sitting in class, the teacher didn't really care about what we were doing, so I started watching my favorite anime, Hunter x Hunter.
I had just finished watching Gon kill Neferpitou. I have seen the fight dozens of times now, but it always makes me sad. The ant is my favorite character of the show. She is so strong but so cute at the same time, it's awesome. I was rocking on my chair, thinking about how cool it would be to have her powers, when it happened. I leaned back a bit too much and fell backwards, hitting my head against the edge of the table behind me. Hard.
Everything went black, but I didn't feel any pain. I don't think this is how it feels to be unconscious. Suddenly, there was a blinding flash of white, and after my eyes adjusted to the sudden light, I realized that I was in a white room.
In front of me was a desk, and behind it sat a rather tired-looking man. He was looking at a screen on the side of his desk and seemed to be scrolling through a page. "Welcome to the afterlife. You are Max Brandt, is that correct?" The man asked without looking up from the screen. I was taken by surprise. Is this for real? Did I really die, or is this just a dream?
The tapping of fingers on wood broke me out of my thoughts. "Yes, that's me," I said, to which the man nodded. "You were just seventeen at the time of your death, which makes you eligible for a second life. You will keep all your memories and get to make one wish for your new life. If you want to take that offer, sign here." He said as he slid a piece of paper and a pen across the desk.
I picked it up and read through it. The paper said that this was a one-time offer and that the world I would be reincarnated into would be random. I signed it and slid it back.
"Your wish?" The man asked as he put the paper into a folder. "I wish to have the power of Neferpitou." I replied. "One moment please." The man began to type away at his computer. "That is possible, but we would have to make some changes to your new body for the optimal power output." The man said after a few moments. I just nodded. "Good. A few more things before I send you on your way. The world you will be reincarnated into is that of a human fantasy story. It's just a copy of the real one, so you don't have to worry about breaking canon. Your powers will appear when you turn six. Have fun." The man said and hit the enter key. I was blinded another time and then everything turned black.
When I woke up again, I was lying in a crib. So I guess this really wasn't a dream. I had really died. I would never see my friends and family again. I began to cry; it was only natural after all I had just lost everything dear to me. But my crying had a side effect. I began hearing footsteps coming to my bed. "What's wrong? Are you hungry, my little girl?" A woman's voice spoke as I was picked out of my bed. That really shocked me; was that one of the changes that were made to my body? I thought I would just get the cat features, but apparently it included changing my gender. The woman, my new mother, had started feeding me with a bottle while I was still thinking about it.
She laid me down in my bed, and soon after that, I fell asleep.
It has been three years since my shocking arrival in this world. A lot has changed, and this world is definitely different from my homeworld. I have discovered that I was reincarnated into the world of my hero academia. Well, "discovered" is a strong word; it was actually more like being thrown directly into my face by all the advertisements for hero merchandise and toys that were bought from me. In relation to my powers, being reborn here isn't really that bad. I think I'm actually going to become one of the most powerful beings alive.
The keyword here is "think". I have actually only ever seen the first season, so I have no clue how strong the people here really are.
All Might and Nomu are the two I can think of that are a threat to me. Well, I will know once I get there. Becoming a hero should be really easy, however. On that note, I should probably mention that my father is actually a hero. His hero name is Starks, and he has a pretty powerful strength quirk. His real name is Justus Brandt, which is my last name too. So, I was able to keep the last name from my last life. He was a tall man with dark brown hair, blue eyes, and a full beard. My mother isn't a hero, but she has a quirk that gives her cat ears and a tail. Her name is A Brandt, and she is Japanese. She is pretty small, has yellow cat-like eyes, and black hair.
That is actually where we live. Our house is somewhere in the better parts of Musutafu. My parents are pretty young, and my father hasn't been a hero for too long, but he's still a hero and has become somewhat popular. So we are kind of loaded, which is pretty nice. My name in this life is Neferpitou Brandt, but my parents just call me Pitou. I actually look pretty much like a child version of Neferpitou, minus the cat features. The guy that sent me here probably had to get creative after doing the changes to my body and had to give me a new name. I think it's rather cool, actually, so all is good.
It's the evening of the 24th of March. Tomorrow is my sixth birthday. Tomorrow, I will finally get my "quirk". The last two years of kindergarten have been hell. Kids usually manifest their quirks when they turn four, but I'm a late bloomer. My parents took me to the hospital when I turned five to find out if I was quirkless. To their relief, I'm not. Well, I suppose it's to my relief too. The people of this world are pretty cruel towards quirkless people, and I wouldn't have been surprised if they gave me up for adoption. I am super excited, but I have to get some sleep.
I awoke in the middle of the night with the most intense pain I had ever felt in my life. My head and back felt like there were two metal spikes coming out of them. All the muscles in my body felt like they had been ripped apart over and over again. It lasted for what felt like hours, but when it finally stopped, it was still dark outside. At that point, I was utterly exhausted and fell asleep.
I woke up that morning and immediately noticed the changes. Everything was just so much clearer. It was like someone had turned my senses up to the max, and I could see a thin film of aura covering my body. I instinctively knew how to use it too. I took a few sniffs in the air and knew breakfast was ready. I jumped out of bed and rushed down the stairs. My mother and father sat at the table, eating pancakes. "Morning, mom. Morning, dad." I said with a noticeable cheer in my voice. They both wished me a good morning but continued eating without looking at me. "Isn't there something different about me today?" I asked them rhetorically. My father looked up first and nearly choked on his pancakes. My mother turned around to me and let out a squeak of joy.
"Look, honey, my little kitten finally got her quirk." Mother said and pulled me in a hug. "I can see that." My father said in between a few coughs. "We will have to go to the doctor and find out what it is." My father said and pulled his phone out of his pocket. He went to the living room and made a call as mom and I continued to eat breakfast. He came back shortly after and announced that we would be going to the clinic after breakfast. I guess having a hero as a father has more pros than I thought.
My dad and I left the clinic quickly after my quirk was correctly identified. The whole time while walking to the car, he had a proud-looking smile on his face. And I can't really blame him; after all, the doctor had just told him that I had a rare, never-before-seen quirk. His super strength and my mom's cat quirk had fused. As a result, both had become much stronger, and on top of that, my nen had somehow been classified as a side product of that fusion. After we reached the car, my father began laughing uncontrollably, and I looked at him weirdly.
You know your mother and I were really worried when you didn't develop your quirk Pitou. Our society doesn't treat quirkless people very well. Many view them as worthless, a second-class people. The thought of people treating you that way made my skin crawl. But now nobody will be able to look down on you. With your quirk, you will be able to become a great hero. My father said and began patting my head.
When we made it back home, my mother had prepared a cake, and there were gifts all over the table. It was my birthday after all. Deep down, I felt bad. I was completely wrong; my new parents loved me and wouldn't have minded me being quirkless. I had a completely wrong image of them, because of how this society worked.
Less than nine years have passed since I manifested my quirk. I am fourteen years old now and in my last year of middle school. The day I came to kindergarten with my manifested quirk, people stopped making fun of me.
School life until this point has been a breeze. It was boring, actually. Like super boring. I don't have any friends in class. Everyone in my class tries to butter me up, because of my quirk or my dad. The only people I actually talk to are the people that I game with online.
It has always been my wish to become a hero, so I signed up for UA. My class had a small uproar when they found out. They were all so excited to know a future hero. It was pretty embarrassing, honestly. My father was currently raking in the top fifty heroes nationwide and offered to write me a recommendation, but I refused. I don't need help to pass the exam.
The only question that I had on my mind was whether I would be in the same year as the main cast. I honestly really wanted to be because they would probably have the most action.
Today is the 26th of February, the day of the UA entrance exam. Hundreds of students from all over the country have come here for the chance to enter the best hero school in the country. The first part of the test was a written exam which was fairly difficult. Well, it would have been if I hadn't been reincarnated. The only subjects I really had to study for were Japanese, History, and Geography.
I was one of the first to finish and had to wait until the time was up. We were then all led into a huge semicircular room with a big stage in the middle. The students all took their seats. On the back wall of the stage hung a huge flat screen, and before it stood a man with spiked-up blond hair, shades, and a leather jacket. "Hello, hero applicants! Thanks for tuning in to your school DJ. Come on, let me hear you!" The man said and put a hand up to his ear. I was the only one who let out a big "Whooohoo," which made the people around me look at me weirdly.
"Well, at least one of you is excited!" Present Mic said, pointing at me. "I will now explain the practical part of the exam to you. You will be divided into different zones of a mock city. In that city, you will meet three different kinds of robots, or villains as we will call them." Present Mic said, and the screen behind him now showed the different kinds of robots. "The smaller ones are worth one villain point, the middle ones two, and the bigger ones three. Got all that?" Present Mic explained further. A hand a few rows below me was raised. "You have a question?" Present Mic asked. The boy who raised his hand stood up. He was fairly tall and had blue hair that was styled into a middle part.
"Of course, I have. On the handout that was given to us, there are four robots, not three. I really would have expected better from the most renowned hero school than to make such a mistake. And you, you have been muttering throughout the whole explanation. Your continuous rambling has been really annoying." The boy said, turning around to a boy with green hair who immediately stopped his muttering and then sat back down. This interaction was all I needed to confirm that the green-haired boy was the main character of this show and that I would most likely end up in the same class as him.
"Actually, you're right. There is a fourth category of villains, the zero pointer. As the name implies, it gives zero points. It's really more meant as an obstacle than an enemy." Present Mic said, and the screen changed to a picture of a big robot with a zero next to it. "Well, I've finished my explanation. On the sheets given to you is either an A, B, C, or D. That is the zone you will be going to. There are buses waiting for you through that door." Present Mic said, pointing to a door to his right.
The bus ride to my zone had been quiet. There were probably some guys from class A in this bus too, but I really had forgotten what they all looked like. It had been more than fourteen years since I watched the show, so it was to be expected.
We were brought to a big gate, and I mean big. It was really huge. Present Mic's voice ran through a speaker mounted on the wall. He did a countdown from three, and I tensed my leg muscles. He got to one, and I shot off, leaving dust, a small crater, and the other applicants behind me. The door had barely opened, and I was through it. I immediately punched the first robot I saw, a one-pointer, and it was obliterated. I had been using En the second the countdown started and knew the exact position of every robot in the mock city. The funding this school has is absolutely ridiculous, were my thoughts as I ripped through robot after robot.
The teachers of UA had gathered in a dark room that was only illuminated by a few screens. Each screen was showing one of the different mock cities and the battle going on inside of it.
"Many students are promising this year." Present Mic said as he watched the battle go on. "That Kid with the explosion quirk is pretty good." Vlad King noted and the others nodded.
"That boy with the engines in his legs isn't too bad either." Midnight said. "The girl with the cat ears is the strongest of them all. She seems to know the exact position of all the robots and at the rate she's going, she'll absolutely shatter the record." Eraserhead pointed out. "That's Neferpitou Brandt. She's the daughter of pro-hero Starks." An animal that looked like a weird mix of bear and rat said. "The daughter of a pro-hero? Then why didn't she get in through recommendations? Her quirk is definitely powerful enough." Midnight asked the animal.
"Maybe she wanted to get in through her own power," the Animal said. They continued to watch the video.
I had probably gathered more than enough points by now. I had stopped counting at some point, and since I didn't want to be an ass, I left some for the others. The time would run out soon anyway. What confused me, however, was the lack of zero pointers this whole time. That was when the ground started shaking. Out of the ground came a building-sized robot. The people around me began running away in fear, but all I could do was stare at it, awestruck. How the hell did they get permission to do this!
This was seriously awesome. But I seemed to be the only one who thought so. It was a cry for help that ripped me out of my thoughts. It came from somewhere behind me. A girl had her leg stuck underneath some of the rubble that was ripped up from the ground when the Zero pointer came out of it. I rushed over to her. She had shorter dark blue hair and her earlobes were like long cables that ended in an aux plug.
I easily lifted the rubble off her leg. "Can you walk?" I asked as I did. "I think I broke my leg," she answered. I took a look at it. It was definitely twisted into an unnatural angle. "Come on, I will give you a ride," I said, kneeling down. She grabbed my shoulders and pulled herself onto my back. I carefully stood up and grabbed her legs to secure her. The zero pointer was getting pretty close to us, so I had to run a little faster than I would have liked. I didn't really want to cause too much unnecessary pain.
After a little bit of running, an alarm went off and Professor Mic announced that the practical part of the exam had ended. We were all supposed to return to the buses and get checked for injuries after we arrived there. I carried the girl all the way back, but at a slower pace now since the threat of the zero pointer was gone.
We still made it back pretty quickly. After arriving, Recovery Girl told me to set her down. I did, and she gave her a kiss. The girl's leg glowed green for a bit and then healed itself.
"Thanks for the save back there. I'm Kyoka Jiro by the way." The girl said and extended her hand for a shake. "No problem. I'm Neferpitou Brandt. Just call me Pitou." I said and shook her hand.
I pulled her up to her legs and we boarded the bus together. It was safe to say that the bus ride back was far more enjoyable.
