A Dance for Two 1 (Jay Naylor's Furry Comics, Human!Semi-SI)
EDIT: This is a Commissioned Story from the Pxtreon.
16 Years Ago, South Haven
It was morning, but Beth was quite sure that it was still dark enough to be considered 'night' here in South Haven.
It's been just a few years since she settled with Aron in an effort to find her own 'path' within the hedonistic culture of this nudist beach. Time and time again, the pristine white-furred feline lady with luscious black hair and soft but judging blue eyes had been pursuing a rather 'anomalous' lifestyle.
First, she wasn't as depraved as most of the locals. It wasn't a sign of 'superiority' as many would think of her, but rather one of… well, one of confusion. What was her purpose now that she was mostly alone?
Aron was her boyfriend, but it was such a lightly used term to justify why they lived in the same house room and less about proper romantic and sexual gratification.
Bethany was alone. And she had been alone for years now.
Not in the sense of having friends, of having people around her, but rather in regard to romance- she had been eluding that in a while, trying to fill the void with 'small things' such as dodging booze and going for early morning runs in the beach like she was doing right now.
Beth loved the beach at South Haven, the pearly sand and the clean place just giving her a freshness to the mind that nothing else could. It was no secret she had more than once thought of getting a seat, bringing a canvas with colors and trying to create something there.
It's been a long time since she did some drawing and painting, so it felt kind of interesting to consider that. Yet, she never mustered her bravery to do something like that- not when she tended to lose focus when, trying to do something for hours in a nudist colony, she could really be distracted by dicks and pussies alike.
Beth was a pervert, but one that felt like she hadn't found her place in the world just yet. Hell, the one thing she held against Aron was how stupid he was in thinking this was 'heaven'.
South Haven was nice, but it wasn't her place. It truly failed to stand up to that since it was a hedonistic area. It was meant for perverts, but it was unsuited for someone that wanted a basic non-nudist family to rely upon.
So, the thought of just 'leaving him officially' felt like a pending issue. It was never brought up, not when it felt so unneeded with how Aron focused more on a certain couple of lesbians. Or literally any slut that came to his masseuse job.
Today was, however, a different day compared to the usual. For a start, she wasn't the only non-nudist entity by the beach. As she was jogging alongside the road beside the long beach itself, Beth spotted a man taking pictures of the sea and the rising sun.
A Human man at that. He was wearing a mostly dark-blue outfit made of a hat, sunglasses, an open jacket and shorts. Barefooted, he was strolling around, taking pictures and appearing… annoyed for some reason.
Nothing weird if this had happened somewhere else, but Beth was sure there were no humans in this colony. A tourist? Even then, it was anomalous and particularly intriguing.
Still, Beth focused on finishing her jogging. She was almost done anyway and she had a feeling the human wasn't just going to vanish for a while. What the girl didn't expect was for him to be there for well beyond lunchtime. She had a nice ham sandwich while she witnessed the man groaning and huffing over hundreds of pictures.
Despite the fact she was never the pursuer unless she wanted to bed her target, she decided to approach the strange fellow out of intellectual curiosity rather than anything else.
As a student of the fine arts, she found his plight confusing since… Well, there was nothing there in those beautiful spots that would make any picture bad. Yet, the moment she got closer, the grumbling became clearer and she couldn't help but snort in amusement as she caught some of his words.
"Damn camera. Damn dad telling me that the latest models are always better," The human growled in pure and relatable annoyance.
If there's something Beth had learned to despise about 'newer' stuff was that there was a tendency to simplify things… in a complicated manner. Maybe it was a sadistic game against the consumers, but it sure was a pain in the butt when it came to digital art's programs that had some rare updates that 'changed the fucking game' everytime.
She could sympathize with the struggle, but Beth was more curious on why it was taking this guy so long. She leaned closer and-
"Can I help you with something?" He asked, annoyed, his tone having her smile immediately.
"I'll let you borrow my old camera if you let me check what is wrong with that one."
The man paused, then frowned and… looking around and then back to her, she could feel his mind realizing she was one of the rare few individuals still wearing clothes.
Despite some reluctance, he let her have it. The device was heavier than it looked, but the technical miracle was indeed something that made her struggle a little bit in even grasping the most basic options.
"So… what were you planning to do with it?" And what kind of issues do I need to look for?
"I am trying to get the right illumination. The damn thing keeps on flashing even though I have the option disabled."
Beth perked at this and checked this swiftly. The option was disabled alright, same for 'flash with double-click' which could be a reason for this phenomenon. To test this out, she took a test picture and… yeah, the illumination was fucked as even now that the beach was pretty fine for the eye was suddenly 'blasted' with light in the photo.
Even after tinkering with the various available options, Bethany found no solution to this beyond the realization that this issue was not normal. The thing was broken outright.
"I think it's broken and you just lost money," The cat girl mumbled distractedly, then turned to the human. "Do you have a warranty?"
Part of her thought the man would have rejected that idea, but his furious eyes were aimed not at her or the camera, but the sky. It was a strangely familiar 'impotent' reaction she had seen somewhere before in the past.
But where it failed to make it up to her mind.
"I guess I'll just work around that camera you offered. Only for this job."
Beth nodded in agreement but… something in her stirred at this sort of situation. She was bored, this guy could be single, so-
"Are you seeing anyone?"
He frowned, his eyes back to her and now showing some surprise. "You mean girlfriend and all of that? Nah."
"...So, I want to give you a deal. But it is all up to you."
A test actually since she had a limited budget.
"Depends on what, miss?"
"Beth, and it's the place you will have to pick."
"Names' John," The man replied and then hummed. "And what if I pick someplace you can't pay?"
She offered him a smile, intrigued that saw her through so easily. "Then the date's off."
John offered a rather amused smile in return and…
And thus Beth's first date with John was in the local McDonald's. The fucking adorable bastard thus got himself more dates and… something more. For both of them. They would then spend that night taking pictures of the beach, and discussing the next date.
Sitting beside each other on a towel and resting a bit before actually falling asleep, cuddling and with some mutual interest for one another.
Present Day
It was morning, but Beth sure wished that it was still dark enough to be considered 'night' here in her new home.
Her and her family had finally settled here for just a few days- most of which were meant to handle the operation of moving in with the furniture, getting everything fixed nice and pleasantly, and then… Well, prepare for their new life in this urban area.
School, medical appointments, and other stuff relating to their kids. John was helping as the loving husband that he was, but Beth also wanted to have a greater influence in shaping the house since, out of the two, she was the best suited in handling that sort of chore.
And the end result was a wonderful place where their kids could hopefully develop into wonderful adults.
Starting from today.
"Hun," A loving masculine voice stirred her awake, followed by a soft peck on her lips that further yanked her out of the world of dreams. "It's morning. It's the first day at the new school for the rascals."
John's words, his voice, was enough to push her out of the sleepiness, just enough for her to feel in her hands the cup of hot coffee calling for her. She grumbled quietly, then sipped from the cup and felt the pure power of caffeine ripping apart any sense of 'love' she held for the bed.
Her blue eyes opened, relief resting on her face as she saw John already well-dressed and it meant that he was one less individual to need to get to the bathroom.
"The kids?"
"Cassie should be getting fixed for school and Jason is finishing breakfast."
Cursed insomnia.
If she had the opportunity to beat that issue back, she would love to have more time to spend at breakfast with her children. They understood why their mother couldn't get up too early without appearing too tired, so it was fine for this to happen once in a while.
Plus, the strong coffee tended to get her on her feet quite immediately. Just like it happened now as she was already following her husband back to the kitchen to catch their lovable eight years old yawning cutely over his emptied bowl of cereals.
Jason had inherited his father's dark-brown hair, but he was a feline just like his mother with lovely blue eyes.
"Mom, g'morning," He greeted tiredly, standing up from the chair and getting a hug from his mother as Beth ruffled his hair.
"Good morning, sweetie. You know the drill."
He nodded, but he yawned again as he was still out of it from the 'late night episode of the zoomies about the new school'. Their youngest sure had a rather interesting habit of getting super excited the night before big things such as the first day at the new school, but the issue was in the morning when he was quite 'depleted' for the proper day.
"Bathroom's available," A feminine voice announced dully as their oldest child came into sight.
Almost the opposite to her younger brother, Cassandra 'Cassie' was actually born human with her mother's long black hair and yet her father's piercing black eyes. She was already dressed up and ready for her own first day at school.
"Morning mom."
"Morning Cassie," She nodded with a smile. "Now, Jason-"
"Let's go!" The boy squealed as Beth picked him in her arms and walked up to the bathroom with him.
While they couldn't exactly share it as they used to be, she could still help her baby boy clean up his face and have him brush his teeth like a proper 'young man'.
After all, this day was going to be quite big for her kids and they had to be ready to provide them both a chance to settle neatly within this new stable life after years of traveling around the US.
What Beth didn't know was that it would be a big day for herself and her husband as she would soon realize that there were many familiar faces in town.
AN
Beth gets a happier family situation.
P.S. Two more chapters have been commissioned beyond this one.
