I stumbled over roots and plants and rocks. My vision blurred, from tears and defeat. I couldn't help but keep thinking why. Why me? Why now? Tears began rolling and nothing I could do would stop them. I stumbled on a rock and crashed onto the ground. I rolled in pain as it felt like someone was hammering down on me. My head throbbed. I hated myself. I hated the world. I hated Edward.
I heard rustling in the bushes. "Kill me!" I yelled to no one in particular. "Please!"
"I have no one," I whispered. "Please."
"Mmmmh!" A starry voice emerged from nowhere. "I was going to make you a snack, but where is the fun in eating someone who wants to be dead?"
"Edward!" I sobbed. "Edward!" I breathed heavily.
"Decisions. Decisions." She continued, and bent into a crouch beside me. She looked into my brown eyes, with her red devilous ones. Her pinky brushed the tears from my eyes. She looked around. She sighed under her breath, and clucked her tongue. "Only one thing to do." She smiled for the first time. She bent down to my neck.
"Kill me." I pleaded. "I drink my blood. I don't want to live," I gasped for air, focusing on the pain in my leg. I didn't want to survive without Edward. I could not ever live without Edward. I gasped, the pain was almost unbearable.
The girl waved her long pointed, sharp nails in front of my face. She licked them and clawed them along my arm and thigh, splitting the skin and the venom running into the cuts. I screamed as the pain only induced more. "Say goodbye to life." She whispered and smiled. She bit me where the scar from James had barely started to fade.I screamed then clamped my mouth shut. Embrace the pain. I thought. Over and over again. I felt it go over my body. It got hotter than it became hot, hotter and hotter.
I held my breath. That only made the pain worse. I gasped and winced and my clenched fists were going translucent because of how tight I was holding them. I tried to hold onto my thoughts, to keep the pain visible, but I soon blacked out.
I woke to rain droplets pattering on my face. I blinked and wiggled my fingers. I gasped for air, but it felt unnatural, I blinked. The ferns above me swayed back and forth, above me dancing to the wind. A flash of white buzzing with electricity flashed vigorously in the black and gray sky. I squeezed my hand but there was a metal or glass rejecting the force. I picked it up and stared into my reflection.
Into my blood, red, eyes.
