Regina pulled her blazer and skirt down trying to keep her composure in check. Before turning the doorknob of her boss's room. She did that slowly so as to not disturb the person inside.
She poked her head inside and stepped into the room, seeing the blonde with a straight face looking at the paper on the desk, not seeing her yet or the blonde did and not paying attention to her.
She almost let out a small smile at the sight of a concentrating blonde before her, her hair pulled back into a ponytail. She noticed Emma wore her business attire with a suit and tie. And she looked beautiful in it.
She took in deep breath and stepped closer to the blonde.
Emma heard the step approaching her and snapped her head up meeting Regina's eyes. She put the paper back on the table and leaned back in the chair. Leg crossing over another while the arms were on the handrest. Cleary showing off her power.
"Are you gonna stand there all day and take notes?"
She sassed and to her displeasure, Regina stood still, hands together in front of her stomach.
"Sorry." Said Regina
The brunette took a step to the chair opposite her and pulled it back before Emma quickly interrupted
"This seat is for my guest," Emma said as Regina paused mid-pulling and looked up at her.
"Not for a secretary. Sit elsewhere."
She watched as Regina walked to the corner of the room.
"You're too far! I don't want to yell it hurts my throat."
Regina looked back at her in surprise and walked back toward her.
"Where would you like me to sit?" Regina asked
"Anywhere but this seat or that faraway sofa."
"But there's only this seat and that faraway sofa in the room. If you won't let me sit here then where would I be sitting? Or your old secretary likes to sit on the floor and take notes from you, Emma."
"Don't call me that! I allow close friends and employees only to call my name. And you are far from being close to me." Emma finished with a sneer.
"Okay, Boss. So where do you want me to sit?" Regina gave a polite smile.
"If you can't figure it out then you can quit."
Regina's lips tightened together, trying to cool down her emotion from the blonde's behavior that obviously tried to play with her around. She walked out of the room and stood outside, taking a deep breath.
Emma watched Regina leave her room with a small satisfied grin on her face. She was back on her paper when the door was opened again.
As Regina came in with her own chair, and rolled it to a stop beside her desk.
"I didn't sit on the guest's seat or that sofa. And the distance from here is good enough so you don't have to shout. if you're still not pleased with me. You can fire me." Regina finished with a tight lip smile.
Emma closed the folder furiously with a loud thud. How dare Regina try to up against her and still smile.
"Take note of what I'm about to say and translate it into Spanish before noon. I'll say it one time and no repeat! If you can't follow up then you know where the problem lies."
Emma lifted her chin and stared at the frantic brunette who rushed to open her notebook. She spoke without waiting for Regina.
"To the guild of fabric design, Swan Company has recently been opened officially. It's my pleasure to invite you all to visit our company's factory…"
Regina wrote furiously in her notebook, her eyebrows frowning together at the speed the blonde was saying. She didn't notice when the time passed and the blonde stopped as she heard.
"Did you get all of that?" Emma said and tried to look Regina in the eyes but the bruntte was concentrating on her notebook and did not respond to her.
She abruptly stood up and walked to Regina. She pulled the notebook from Regina's hands as the other woman looked up at her with nothing but professional look.
Emma looked down at the notebook and frowned.
So Regina tried to defy her and not do what she told her to do. She was frustrated and angry consumed her once more.
"I told you to write everything I said in English, not spanish! Then how would I know it's every words from mine?!"
"I wrote it in spanish because you wanted it translate before noon and I don't have enough time to wait. My Spanish is my strong side so I did it to make you work faster. And your words, I have recorded all of them."
Regina showed the phone to her.
"And if you forget to press record?"
"Then it'll be on my ipad."
Regina showed an ipad at her with a polite smile again.
Emma stood in silence. Regina could take all her challenges without fail and she did great at that.
"My husband taught me to always have choices when you do things."
Her lips twitched slightly at that. Emma tossed the book back on Regina's lap and leaned closer to Regina's face.
"Get out." Said with a cold voice.
Regina took the book back in hand and stood up. She pulled the chair back and turned around ready to leave.
The blonde's voice stopped her from doing so.
"And Remember, I'm your boss now, you have to do everything I say. If I say you can go then you can if I say you can't then you have to listen to me. While being here you can't think of anything else except work. Don't play around here since I hate people who aren't honest, I hate people who love to lie. I hate them."
A silence
"I hate them till the day that I die."
Somehow that blow Regina knew was meant for her so she took all of the blonde's words without reacting to anything. It might give the blonde some satisfaction to strike back at her and she gladly accepted it.
She turned around calmly to face Emma. She could show her the upper hand and stay calm not giving in to the blonde's temptation to make her lose control.
"I'll make sure to remember it." Regina gave another tight lip smile before taking another leave.
"Wait, there's more."
The blonde's voice stopped her again.
"If I didn't call for you, you can't be here. If I don't speak to you first, then you can't talk to me!"
Regina sighed at the angry blonde. She took in a breath before turning around to face Emma again.
"Understood."
Emma glared at the back of Regina's head so hard it could be a hole. She tried to say everything to make Regina lose her professional act since she knew Regina loved to keep her appearance.
"This is just the start. If you still want to be here you have to face more harsh things from me."
"I understood. If I'm not ready then I won't be applying here. I'm ready to face everything work-related."
She narrowed her eyes and scoffed to herself watching the back of the other woman out of the room.
"We'll see about that," Emma mumbled.
Regina walked back to her desk at the moment her phone rang. It was Gideon. She picked it up with a smile.
"Yes? Aren't you supposed to be interviewing right now?" Regina looked at the clock on the wall.
"I called to say thank you for picking up the dress for me. People admired my dress so."
"You're welcome."
"Oh, I have to go now. I'll call you again when I'm finished."
"Okay, bye."
Regina hung up the phone with the slide of her thumb when she heard another voice booming behind her. She almost flinched at the sound but she didn't.
"Who are you talking with?"
Regina put on her work face and turned to face her attacker. She crossed her arms together while looking into those green eyes she used to know but now those eyes seemed to be hidden with things she couldn't figure out.
"Did I tell you about minding your personal bussiness apart from work?" Emma scoffed "I understood, you're a widow now and like to find someone to warm your bed soon. But please do it outside of the work hour."
Regina couldn't still her face anymore but she could tried.
"Thanks for understanding a widow like me. But I'm not in a mood to find someone new just yet. The person I was talking to is my family." Regina said and turned around.
Emma tightened her fists in dislike, for she couldn't believe it was someone in the family. She hated how Regina was so idle toward her. And yet she was the one who got affected by Regina's words instead. She couldn't help but blurted out.
"But your voice sounds too sweet for a person in the family."
"Yes, I like to put people that close to me above and treat them with care and with sweet words."
"If I treat you badly from now on, just know that you're not important to me." Emma said.
Regina's eyes flickered slightly for a second with moisture and Emma was on edge. The blonde tossed the big file on Regina's desk and ordered.
"I need all the example files of fabric, bring them all, and I mean it, all of them to my office, just you alone. Do not let someone else help you. I want it now." Emma smirked and went back to her room.
Back in the room, her pleasing face was gone. All she could think about was that person on the phone with Regina.
A family she said, Emma scoffed to herself. Like she could fool her if she tried.
"Here is all the file that Emma wants." Ruby said
"Thank you."
"I'll let someone else to help you carry all these upstair then."
"Oh, no. She specifically told me not to let anyone help and to bring it to her by myself, but thanks for helping."
Ruby was gasping at the information.
"Regina…Are you sure you can do this?"
Regina sighed and nodded
"I can."
Regina went to gather up all the file samples into her arms, they almost piled up to her chin.
"Be careful! It's very heavy." Ruby shouted in panic and tried to help steady her arm when she swayed due to the weight in her arms.
"I got it!"
Regina grinned and walked with difficulty toward the stairs then up to Emma's room. She pushed the door open with her back and said with a quick excuse to be inside the room.
Emma eyed the brunette with a big file piled up in her arms and acted indifferent toward her. Regina walked over to her desk and was about to drop them all on it so she had to quickly interrupt.
"Put it somewhere else that is not bothering my eye sight."
Regina still the file in her arms and looked around the room, as the blonde turned back to her paper work. She bit the inside of her cheek, her arms started to burn, she shifted the weight more properly in her arms and stomped over to the corner of the room.
"Shush! Walk a bit quieter next time! And place them down gently too. I do not like to be disturbed."
Regina rolled her eyes as her back turned to the blonde still. She tiptoed her best on her high heels and was about to drop the file to the floor when the blonde's sudden shout startled her.
"Don't put it there! It's in my line of sight!"
"But it's far-"
"Whatever, they still in my line of sight. Since you love to brag about how good your husband had train you in business, hasn't you have any brain to think?"
Regina turned her head to look at the annoying blonde. She would give in for now. Regina walked back with files in her arms over to the space behind the blonde's chair and dropped them all on the floor. She stood up and pulled down her blazer.
"I placed it here behind you. So it's out of your eyes now. Then I can gather up the rest of them because you told me that you wanted it now." She said to the back of her blonde hair and stepped out of the room, quietly on heels. So not to let the blonde found fault in her.
Regina brought all the files up successfully all by herself. She panted as she stood beside the blonde's desk and dropped the file on Emma's desk.
"I brought up all the file you wanted, boss. If you don't need me anymore please excuse me."
"Wait!"
Regina turned back around to wait for the blonde to speak. Emma went behind her chair and picked up a file from the pile then she went back to her desk.
"This is all I need. You can put the rest back where it belongs."
Regina gasped at the order. She was panting and sweating for nothing. Emma sat back down with a satisfying look on her face and continued her paperwork. Regina didn't find all of this amusing at all. She sighed out loud and the blonde dared to eye her.
Emma watched Regina gather the files up in her arms again and walked to the door. It was opened suddenly by Snow who walked in the same time and met Regina.
"Regina! I just saw you brought all of these up?"
"Boss said to put it back where it belongs."
"What?!"
"Yes." Regina's nose flared and went to the door.
Snow gasped in shock and she didn't like this at all. The blonde was too cruel to Regina. Snow walked to Emma's desk and said.
"You did too much, Emma."
Emma just looked up at Snow and smirked. Snow rolled her eyes at the arrogant blonde and dropped the file on Emma's desk.
"This is the example of fabric you have to present this afternoon. Do you still want me to go with you?"
Emma didn't say anything and smiled as she had someone else in mind that was no Snow.
